Hale to go on conditioning assignment

11/9: The Devils sent David Hale to Lowell on a conditioning assignment, according to the AP. Hale has been sidelined all season after recovering from surgery to repair the retina in his right eye.

11/9: David Hale, sidelined with a right eye injury since being hit by a puck in practice on Sept. 29, has been cleared to play and could be back in the lineup by this weekend, according to the Star Ledger. "It's better and I think it's going to keep improving," Hale said of his vision. "I think I'm ready, but you never know until you get in a game."

Hale's vision still blurry

10/31: David Hale, recovering from surgery to repair the retina in his right eye, is practicing fully but his vision isn't all the way back, according to the Star Ledger. "My vision is so-so. It's still blurry," Hale reported. "There was damage to the retina, but they fixed that. That was why I couldn't have contact for a few weeks, because the doctors were afraid the retina would detach or tear." Doctors say Hale will regain normal vision in time, but until that happens he will not play in a game.

Hale gets in contact practice Friday (eye)

10/28: For the first time since undergoing surgery to repair the retina in his right eye, David Hale took part in a contact practice yesterday, according to the New York Daily News. It's not clear exactly when he will be back in the mix, but he appears to be getting closer.

Hale underwent eye surgery

10/14: Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello confirmed Friday that David Hale actually underwent "minor surgery" nine days ago on the retina in his right eye, according to the Bergen Record. Hale has been battling blurry vision since being hit above his right eye by a puck in practice. Hale is expected to miss another 2-3 weeks.
