Ty Dillon to fly with historic 'Thunderbirds' 01-30-2014
Ty Dillon, driver of the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/WESCO/Yuengling Light Lager Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, is scheduled to take flight with the historic United States Air Force Thunderbird team in a F-16 Fighter Jet on Feb. 18 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Dillon, who will be competing full time in the Nationwide Series this year, was invited by the U.S. Air Force after his brother, Austin Dillon, took flight last February. Austin, a long aficionado of the movie "Top Gun," called it an experience he would never forget. The Thunderbirds are scheduled to depart from Daytona Beach International Airport for a short flight around the Daytona Beach area.-Richard Childress Racing

Skittles will make its comeback to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the 2014 season as part of Mars, Inc.'s longtime partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing. The Skittles No. 18 Camry will take the track for two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races this season, piloted by NASCAR star Kyle Busch on March 2 at Phoenix International Speedway and March 16 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Skittles brand first made its NASCAR debut in 1998 in partnership with MB2 Motorsports with the No. 36 Pontiac and driver Derrike Cope. In 1999, driver Ernie Irvan took the wheel of the Skittles No. 36 Pontiac and went on to take the top starting spot at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.-True Speed Communication
Brian Vickers cleared to drive 01-30-2014

Brian Vickers has been cleared by doctors to drive after missing the final five races of last season because of a blood clot - the second time since 2010 a blood clot forced him out the car.

Vickers missed much of the 2010 season after blood clots were discovered in both lungs and his left leg in May. He was placed on blood thinning medication and didn't race again that year. He also had heart surgery in July 2010 to repair a small hole. Now that he's cleared, Vickers will test for Michael Waltrip Racing at New Smyrna Speedway next week. This year marks his first full NASCAR Sprint Cup season since 2011. That's also the last time he ran in the Daytona 500.

Michael Waltrip Racing announced an expanded sponsorship roster for 2014 today during the annual Charlotte Motor Speedway media tour. Clint Bowyer will carry the 5-hour ENERGY logos for 24 races in 2014. PEAK Antifreeze & Motor Oil logos will adorn the No. 15 Toyota at the Auto Club Speedway, Talladega and Chicagoland. AAA Mid-Atlantic will sponsor him at Richmond and Martinsville. Cable provider Charter will sponsor in the NASCAR Sprint Showdown at Charlotte.
