Cobb misses Martinsville NCWTS field 10-25-2013

Jennifer Jo Cobb's qualifying speed was not good enough to get into the Camping World Truck Series Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway. She ran a lap of 83.210 mph in the No. 10 truck. It was 38th quickest but not quick enough to make the field for the race.

Denny Hamlin wins both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series poles today at Martinsville Speedway. This afternoon, Hamlin (11 Toyota) set a new track qualifying record (99.595 mph) when he won the Coors Light Pole Award for Sunday's Sprint Cup Series Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500. Following NSCS qualifying, he went out in Kyle Busch Motorsports' No. 51 Toyota Tundra and earned the Keystone Light Pole award for the Kroger 200 with a 96.489 mph lap. This was Hamlin's 17th Cup pole (third in 16 Cup starts at Martinsville) and his first pole in 16 truck series starts.

A lap of 100.074 mph was the quickest of the 43 cars out on the track for the first practice session. No. 18 Kyle Busch, No. 11 Denny Hamlin, No. 2 Brad Keselowski and No. 9 Marcos Ambrose are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 36 J.J. Yeley was the slowest. Bowyer also had a 10-lap average speed of 96.219 mph. This was the best of the 15 cars running at least 10 consecutive laps.

The average speed of 93.548 mph was best of the seven trucks that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session. At 96.736 mph in the No. 51 Toyota Tundra, he was the fastest of the 38 trucks out on the track for the final practice. No. 54 Darrell Wallace Jr., No. 19 Ross Chastain, No. 6 Daniel Hemric and No. 4 Jeb Burton are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 10 Jennifer Jo Cobb was the slowest.

Chastain leads Martinsville truck Practice 1 10-25-2013
Ross Chastain (19 Ford F-150) leads the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session at Martinsville Speedway. He ran a quick lap of 95.603 mph. No. 18 Joey Coulter, No. 9 Ron Hornaday Jr., No. 98 Johnny Sauter and No. 88 Matt Crafton rounded out the top five of the 34 trucks practicing for the Kroger 200. Norm Benning, in the No. 57 truck, was the slowest.
