McMurray's team wins Talladega race awards 10-20-2013

Jamie McMurray's team wins two race awards in the Sprint Cup Camping World RV Sales 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Besides winning the race, McMurray earned the Mobil 1 Driver of the Race award. Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines, builder of the engine in the No. 1 Chevrolet, won the Mahle Clevite Engine Builder of the Race award. McMurray is 14th in the 2013 NSCS point standings.

Jimmie Johnson wins the 3M Lap Leader Award for leading the most laps (472 of 188) in the Camping World RV Sales 500. He started 11th and finished in 13th place. He is the current leader in the 2013 Sprint Cup point standings.
McDowell wins Green Flag Restart award 10-20-2013

Michael McDowell wins the American Ethanol Green Flag Restart award at Talladega Superspeedway. The award is given to the eligible driver that records the fastest average speed on restarts and finishes the race on the lead lap. He earned the award for his 15th place finish in the Sprint Cup Camping World RV Sales 500 at Talladega. He is 37th in the 2013 Sprint Cup point standings.

The award is given to the highest eligible driver in the running order at the time of the first caution of each race. He earned the award in the Camping World RV Sales 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. He started in second and finished in 21st place. Burton is 20th in the 2013 point standings.

Frank Kerr, crew chief for David Gilliland in the Sprint Cup Camping World RV Sales 500 at Talladega Superspeedway wins the Moog Problem Solver of the Race award. The award goes to the crew chief that improves the most from first half of the race to the second half utilizing the 40 best lap times (improved 0.214 seconds). Gilliland started the race in 24th place and finished seventh. He is 27th in the 2013 Sprint Cup point standings.

Casey Mears wins the Sherwin-Williams Fastest Lap award at Talladega Superspeedway. The award is given to the eligible driver (contingent on decal display) who clocks the fastest lap of the race. Mears started 10th, was running in the top 10 on the last lap and was caught up a wreck. He was credited with a 27th place finish in the Sprint Cup Camping World RV Sales 500. Mears is 23rd in the 2013 Sprint Cup point standings.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is the top rookie finisher in the Sprint Cup Camping World RV Sales 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. He started 21st and finished third. He was named the "Rookie of the Race" since his finish was best of the ROTY contenders in the event. Stenhouse is currently 19nd in the 2013 point standings.

It is his second victory and seventh top-10 finish in 23 races at Talladega Superspeedway. McMurray is 14th in the 2013 NSCS point standings.

Rowan Pennink wins the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season finale Sunoco World Series 150 at Thompson Speedway. Rowan Pennink, who drove the No. 93 Monk Mechanics Hand Cleaner Chevrolet around Donny Lia on Lap 133 and held it through the 150th and final circuit for his second career Whelen Modified Tour victory. Pennink, from Huntingdon Valley, Pa., ended a 48-race winless drought with the triumph.
