Carl Pettersson, Thursday 8/14, 8:03 PM CT
Carl Pettersson had his swing in fine form at today's opening round of the Wyndham Championship, carding a 6-under-par 64 in Thursday's opening round.

Our View: The Greensboro local started on the back nine and was even-par through 10 holes before dropping four birdies and an eagle coming in, signing for an amazing 29 on the second half of his card. He graduated from high school near this course, making him the hometown favorite.
Vijay Singh, Thursday 8/14, 7:58 PM CT
One of the only top PGA golfers on the course this week, Vijay Singh carded a 1-under-par 69 in the opening round of the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club today.

Our View: Singh, the highest World Golf Rankings representative in the field, found troubles on the putter today that restricted his place on the leaderboard. He hit 14 greens in regulation but needed a worrisome 32 putts to complete the round (a trend that has frustrate Singh and fantasy owners this season).
Bob Heintz, Thursday 8/14, 7:45 PM CT
You won't recognize the name, but Bob Heintz worked as one of the top golfers on the day, registering a 7-under-par 63 in the opening round of the Wyndham Championship.

Our View: Heinz managed to find just seven of 14 fairways but found 16 of the 18 greens in regulation, providing the swings needed to net eight birdies at Sedgefield. His previous best round on the PGA Tour was a 64, carded in the 2nd round in Milwaukee last year. Heintz could surprise if he keeps grooving into this weekend, coming off his second T11, filed at Reno, of the 2008 season.
Martin Laird, Thursday 8/14, 7:41 PM CT
Martin Laird dominated the links at Sedgefield Country Club today, carding a 7-under-par 63 in the opening round of the Wyndham Championship.

Our View: The rookie out of Scotland has been in a zone over recent weeks. He followed a T22 at the Canadian Open with a career-high T4 in Reno. Today Laird peppered the course with an eagle and five birdies, failing to card a single stroke over par. This single round is Laird's career best on the PGA Tour, breaking his previous mark by two strokes (2nd round, 2008 John Deere).
Brandt Snedeker, Thursday 8/14, 7:37 PM CT
Brandt Snedeker had the sticks working in a positive fashion at Sedgefield Country Club today, carding a 4-under-par 66 in the opening round of the Wyndham Championship.

Our View: Snedeker hit 13 of the 18 greens in regulation and needed just 27 putts to complete the round, topped with six birdies. He suffered a minor slip on the 18th with a bogey, but it appears he is on his way to making a successful defense of his Wyndham title.
