Tiger Woods, Tuesday 8/5, 7:34 PM CT
In the wake of the Tiger Woods saga and his attempts to return to the NFL, Tiger Woods says he'll know when it's time to walk away from golf, according to ESPN.com. "I won't have a problem with that," he said Tuesday in an interview on The Scott Van Pelt Show on ESPN Radio. "When I get to a point where my best is not good enough anymore, as I prepare and I practice and I get ready, and I know if I go out there and play the way I know I can play and it's just not good enough anymore, my skills have diminished that far, it's time for me to move on, rack the cue and go home."

Our View: As for coming back to golf, Woods said he is riding a stationary bike as part of his rehabilitation from his knee injury. He didn't set a timetable for his return, but said the knee is getting better.
Luke Donald, Tuesday 8/5, 6:08 PM CT
Luke Donald has spoken with reporters and indicates he will be making a decision "in the next week or so" to either rest his injured wrist or have surgery to repair it. He has missed every tourney on the schedule, including the Open Championship, since the walking off the course at the U.S. Open due to the overwhelming pain of the injury. He is skipping this week's PGA Championship and admits worries concerning his place on the European Ryder Cup Team.

Our View: In his mind, Donald is trying to gamble, hoping his wrist will improve with rest so he can hit the links a few times before captain Nick Faldo makes his final selections for the Ryder Cup squad on August 31st. If he were honest, he would heed our advice and have surgery now. If he suffers more damage in an attempt to represent his country, he risks significant damage that could end his career. We'll keep you postes.
Bart Bryant, Tuesday 8/5, 5:59 PM CT
Bart Bryant reports he received a cortisone shot in his ailing right elbow two weeks ago, hoping the pain will subside through the FedExCup playoffs.

Our View: This is the third shot Bryant has received this season in an attempt to dull the pain resulting from what is believed to be a minor tendon strain, but with a third shot comes fear that surgery may be needed if Bryant is going to feel right again, a reality Bryant admits is likely to come this offseason. The shot is the third that he has had this year for the injury, but he mentioned that the effectiveness of each shot grows less and that he will most likely have surgery in the off season. Bryant is currently in 27th place on the FedExCup points list and his $1.6 million in earnings this year, thus there are no issues in retaining his card for the 2009 season. However, after battling Tiger to the 18th hole earlier this season at the Arnold Palmer, there was hope that he would rise and work with the game's elite. We will keep him in mind for next year. If surgery is successful, he should return with motivation and skill to compete with the best.
Cliff Kresge, Tuesday 8/5, 5:52 PM CT
Cliff Kresge has gained entry into this week's PGA Championship and will be part of the field for the final major of the season.

Our View: Listed as the first alternate for the tourney, Kresge has been granted the tee time reserved for the potential winner of last week's WGC-Bridgestone champ had that winner otherwise been ineligible. Since Vijay Singh won at Firestone, Kresge will now play in his first PGA Championship.
