Mark Parrish, RW, Dallas StarsWednesday 8/13, 7:10 PM CT
The agent for forward Mark Parrish spoke to Vancouver radio station CKNW on Wednesday confirming the Canucks' interest in his client, indicating the Canucks are viewing Parrish as "Plan B" should they fail in their attempts to sign veteran Mats Sundin, according to TSN. "I think there are a few teams waiting on Mats to see what he ends up doing," agent John Vollan told the radio station. "There are a few teams (interested in Parrish). It's preliminary. (Mark) is finding out what his interest is as well."

Our View: The Canucks are one of three teams that have held talks with Vollan, the Islanders and Predators also inquired about the unrestricted free agent forward. The Minnesota Wild bought out Parrish's contract this off-season, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Mats Sundin, C, Toronto Maple LeafsWednesday 8/13, 6:06 PM CT
Yesterday we reported the agent for free-agent forward Mats Sundin (J.P. Barry) spoke with reporters in Toronto and indicated his client was nearing a decision concerning his involvement in the upcoming NHL season. Today reporters found Sundin and obtained comments direct from the source, according to the Toronto Star. "I haven't decided yet," Sundin told Sportsnet, according to the Sun. "I think sometime in August I hope to come to a conclusion on what I'm going to do ... if I'm going to play or not this year."

Our View: Maple Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher told the Toronto Star that the center was expected to begin on-ice workouts this week, but appears that is not the case. Sundin reports he is staying in shape and working as if he will be playing, be it in Toronto or elsewhere. However, it appears his delay is at least a indication that retirement may be on the mind and weighing heavy. We will continue to track the situation as it unfolds.
Lukas Kaspar, LW, San Jose SharksWednesday 8/13, 9:24 AM CT
Lukas Kaspar has inked a one-year deal with the Sharks, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View: The 22-year-old appeared in 73 games with Worcester of the AHL, while posting 17 goals and 24 assists. He appeared in three games with San Jose last season as well, with no points scored. He should spend most of next season in the AHL, and will not garner fantasy interest.
