Brooks Orpik, D, Pittsburgh PenguinsSaturday 6/21, 3:55 PM CT
The Penguins reportedly want to re-sign Brooks Orpik before he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: The hard-hitting defenseman wants to remain in Pittsburgh, likely to have another shot at hoisting the Stanley Cup. Penguins' GM Ray Shero knows Orpik would draw interest from several teams if he hits the free agent market.
Marian Hossa, RW, Detroit Red WingsSaturday 6/21, 2:45 PM CT
Marian Hossa has rejected an offer to remain in Pittsburgh, and he will test the free agent market on July 1, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. GM Ray Shero did not disclose the specific financial amount or length, but did say he was "comfortable" with the deal he offered to Hossa. Shero added, "I've talked to Hossa and his agent (Ritch Winter) lots, and we look to be his first choice. But he's gonna go to July 1 just to make sure, and we'll see what that brings both of us. We've made a very fair contract offer."

Our View: Hossa could end up in Pittsburgh, but wants to test the market to make sure he is getting the best deal. As of now, the Penguins remain at the top of his list.
Joe Sakic, C, Colorado AvalancheSaturday 6/21, 2:15 PM CT
Joe Sakic has told GM Francois Giguere that he still isn’t ready to make a decision regarding his playing future, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Team VP Jean Martineau stated, "Francois told him to take the time that he needs to take. Don’t expect a decision soon or in the coming days. We told him that we would wait for when he would be ready to let us know."

Our View: Sakic, who turns 39 in July, is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, but will either re-sign with Colorado or retire. He can still get the job done, as he scored 40 points over 44 games in 2007-08.
Alex Bourret, RW, Phoenix CoyotesSaturday 6/21, 12:36 PM CT
The Coyotes have acquired winger Alex Bourret from the Rangers in exchange for a third-round pick in the draft, according to the AP. The Rangers drafted defenseman Tomas Kundratek from Trinec of the Czech Republic with the pick, 90th overall.

Our View: The 21-year-old Bourret spent last season with Hartford of the AHL, while recording nine goals and 24 assists in 54 games, and is yet to make his NHL debut.
Brad Richardson, RW, Los Angeles KingsSaturday 6/21, 11:44 AM CT
The Kings have acquired Brad Richardson from the Avalanche in exchange for a second-round pick in the draft (61st overall), according to the AP. Colorado selected goalie Peter Delmas with the pick.

Our View: The 23-year old Richardson notched 19 goals and 21 assists over 136 games with Colorado.
Chris Kelly, C, Ottawa SenatorsSaturday 6/21, 11:38 AM CT
Ottawa has signed Chris Kelly to a four-year extension, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed, but it is believed to be in the $8.5-million range.

Our View: Kelly only scored 11 goals and 19 assists over 75 games with Ottawa in 2007-08. His fantasy stock could have potentially improved if he signed with another club.
Steve Eminger, D, Philadelphia FlyersSaturday 6/21, 11:32 AM CT
The Flyers have acquired defenseman Steve Eminger from the Capitals in exchange for their first-round pick in the draft (29th overall), which Washington used to select defenseman John Carlson, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Eminger has spent five campaigns in the NHL, all with Washington, and has posted a mere six goals and 37 assists over 212 games. He only appeared in 20 games in 2007-08 and was a healthy scratch for many of the contests. He could benefit from a fresh start in Philadelphia, but isn't likely going to garner any fantasy interest.
Brad Stuart, D, Detroit Red WingsSaturday 6/21, 9:11 AM CT
Detroit would like to get Brad Stuart locked up with a new contract before he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: After being acquired from the Kings, Stuart formed a great chemistry with Niklas Kronwall, and he was also integral during the Wings' playoff run that brought the Stanley Cup back to Detroit.
Andreas Lilja, D, Detroit Red WingsSaturday 6/21, 9:05 AM CT
Andreas Lilja could end up being a cap-casualty of the Red Wings this summer, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: The team would like to retain his services, but have several talented young defensemen ready to join the club. He only scored two goals in 2007-08, but both of them were game winners.
Teemu Selanne, RW, Anaheim DucksSaturday 6/21, 7:05 AM CT
Teemu Selanne is yet to decide whether to return for a 15th NHL campaign, according to the LA Times. He needs to decide before July 1, as the team could move forward with off-season plans, and may not have the funds left to sign him.

Our View: He will turn 38 in July, and noted that he will either play a full campaign in Anaheim, or not at all.
