NHL personnel are reporting goalie Dominik Hasek is expected to announce his retirement, according to the Associated Press.
Our View: The Red Wings have scheduled a press conference for Monday morning with no attached details. The person in the league office, requesting anonymity, has contacted the AP and reports the conference is in fact for Hasek to step away from the game.
Unrestricted free agent Martin Gelinas is hoping to return for his 20th NFL season next year, according to the Edmonton Journal. Gelinas is recovering ahead of schedule from knee surgery, as he's already skating. "The doctor said he'd never seen a knee like it. ... He said Marty had the knee of a 16-year-old," said Gelinas's agent, Steve Kotlowitz. "It's genes and work ethic and the kind of player he is."
Our View: Gelinas wants to play for Nashville, where he has spent the last two seasons. He can be usable in deeper leagues if he comes back healthy next season.
