Marc Savard, C, Boston BruinsSaturday 4/12, 11:06 PM CT
Marc Savard dished out an assist on the power-play on David Krejci's goal but the Bruins still fell 3-2 in OT to the Canadiens.

Our View: Savard was once again limited to less than 16 minutes of ice-time as it's obvious that his back is still causing him to be at far less than 100%.
Carey Price, G, Montreal CanadiensSaturday 4/12, 11:04 PM CT
Carey Price improved to 2-0 in his young playoff career by making 37 saves on 39 shots on Saturday night.

Our View: Price hasn't looked at all the part of a rookie in two games in the playoffs as he has allowed only three goals in two games for the number one team in the East.
Alexei Kovalev, RW, Montreal CanadiensSaturday 4/12, 11:01 PM CT
Alexei Kovalev scored a power-play goal in OT to lead the Canadiends to a 3-2 victory over the Bruins to take a 2-0 series lead. Kovalev also added an assist in the game.

Patrick Thoresen was released from the hospital on Saturday after tests showed that no serious damage was caused by the shot he took to the groin on Friday night, this according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: There were initial concerns that he might have to have one of his testicles amputated, but those fears have passed. He might even play Sunday in Game 2, after all, he is a hockey player.
Dominik Hasek, G, Detroit Red WingsSaturday 4/12, 4:18 PM CT
Dominik Hasek allowed two goals on 27 shots to improve to 2-0 this post-season for the Wings.

Our View: Hasek continues to defy the calendar that says he should be washed up at 43 years of age. Look for him to continue to hold the oppositions goal totals down as the Wings advance in the playoffs.
Dan Ellis, G, Nashville PredatorsSaturday 4/12, 4:16 PM CT
Dan Ellis made 34 saves on Saturday for the Predators but it wasn't enough as he allowed four goals to the Red Wings.

Our View: Ellis has faced 77 shots in two games as the Wings have dominated the series to take a 2-0 lead. Don't blame Ellis, but also don't expect him to do much better than he has either.
Tomas Holmstrom, RW, Detroit Red WingsSaturday 4/12, 4:08 PM CT
Tomas Holmstrom scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Wings to a 4-2 victory over the Predators in Game 2 of their first round series.

Our View: Holmstrom should continue to annoy whomever is in net for the opposition by sticking his rump in their face on a consistent basis as he bangs home loose pucks.

Chris Chelios will play in his 248th playoff game today, which will set a new NHL record, according to the Detroit Free Press. Coach Babcock stated, "It's a fantastic honor. He's been a great player for a long time and I think when he looks back, he'll think about the Cups, but he'll also think about how proud he was to break that record, because to me that's one of the most special you could ever have."

Our View: Chelios was one of the NHL's greatest defensemen, and it is nice to see him set this record today.
Mike Commodore, D, Columbus Blue JacketsSaturday 4/12, 7:59 AM CT

Keith Carney, D, Minnesota WildSaturday 4/12, 12:05 AM CT
Keith Carney scored all of zero goals in 60 games during the regular season, so it made total sense that he scored the OT game winner for the Wild on Friday night. Carney, one of the most consistently excellent defensive defense on ice, was in the right place at the right time tonight as he beat Jose Theodore to win the game.
Peter Forsberg, C, Colorado AvalancheSaturday 4/12, 12:03 AM CT
Peter Forsberg scored a goal and added an assist in Colorado's Game 2 loss in OT to the Wild. Here we go again. Forberg often dominated the puck when he was on the ice as he continues to demonstrate why he is considered by some to be one of the toughest players to knock off the puck that has ever pulled on a pair of skates.
Mikko Koivu, C, Minnesota WildSaturday 4/12, 12:00 AM CT
Mikko Koivu scored a third period goal and was a +2 in Game 2 as the Wild defeated the Avalanche in OT 3-2. Koivu has been the Wild's best skater through the first two games of the playoffs with his hustle and two-way play.
