Torrey Mitchell, who slammed Kurtis Foster into the end boards on Wednesday night, will not be suspended by the league, notes TSN.ca. Foster underwent surgery for a fractured left fibula. Mitchell was trying to avoid an icing call and he received a two-minute tripping penalty as punishment for his role in the incident.

According to the Sports Network, Dan Fritsche will miss the final eight games of the regular season with a broken hand. The 22-year-old Fritsche suffered the injury during the second period of Wednesday's 3-1 loss at Detroit. Columbus' second-round pick (46th overall) in the 2003 had 22 points in 69 games this season.

Mats Sundin appears to be out for Friday's game against Buffalo and possibly Saturday when the team faces off against Ottawa, this according to TSN.ca. Sundin has missed two games since leaving a March 12 game in Philadelphia with a groin injury. "Not overly optimistic," Leafs head coach Paul Maurice said Thursday after practice. "It's not improving as quickly as we had hoped." Sundin, one of the league leaders in points scored is key to the Leafs' offense.

Brad Stuart will sit out the rest of the regular season with a broken finger, this according to SI.com. It's possible that the defenseman could miss the start of the playoffs. General manager Ken Holland tells Booth Newspapers Stuart suffered a non-displaced fracture in one of his fingers. Stuart had recorded 23 points in 72 games this season.

Erik Christensen, acquired in the Marian Hossa trade, was examined by team doctors on Wednesday and it was determined he will be held out of on ice activities for at least 10 days. Christensen sprained his MCL against Florida and the prognosis for his return before the season ends isn't good. The center had recorded 24 points in 59 games this season.

Maybe we were overly hoping that it would get better faster. I'm not optimistic that he's going to be in this weekend." This continues to be a huge loss as Sundin is the leader of the Leafs and scored 77 points over 72 games.

He notably crashed into the wall during battle with the Sharks Wednesday night, which resulted in him leaving the ice on a stretcher. This is a tough loss for Minnesota, who currently sit a mere three points ahead of Calgary, Colorado, and Vancouver in the Northwest Division.

Nik Antropov may require surgery to correct his knee, according to The Toronto Star. Nik Antropov revealed Wednesday that knee surgery to repair torn cartilage could be in his future. He said, "I will try to skate this morning and see how it is. If it's not going to settle down, we might have minor surgery. It's not a big deal. It's not reconstructive; it would be minor surgery." Antropov notably twisted his knee Saturday night against Buffalo. He wouldn't say which knee was hurt. Antropov scored 52 points in 70 games this season.

Sidney Crosby could miss the next two games, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Crosby continues to be slowed by the high ankle sprain that he sustained January 18, and is expected to miss the next two games of action. Therrion stated, "He's not going to play this weekend. He's going to be on the ice today, with the conditioning coach Mike Kadar. That's the first step. He has to go through the weekend, skating, and we'll see how he feels before deciding if Crosby will play in either of those games." The team also mentioned that Crosby will not be rushed back into action.
