Darrion Scott, DE, Minnesota VikingsThursday 4/17, 7:56 PM CT
The Boston Globe reports that the Patriots hosted free-agent defensive end Darrion Scott at Gillette Stadium today. The 6-foot-3, 289-pound Scott entered the NFL as a third-round draft choice of the Minnesota Vikings in 2004. He has played in 48 career games, with 28 starts. His most productive seasons, stats-wise, came in 2005 and 2006 when he totaled 104 tackles and 9.5 sacks.

Our View: The Ohio State alum, who is 26, played in just four games last season due to a fractured foot, but the interest by the Patriots is not surprising.
Laurent Robinson, WR, Atlanta FalconsThursday 4/17, 7:41 PM CT
Laurent Robinson is expected to join Roddy White in the starting lineup, this according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. This would leave veterans Joe Horn and Michael Jenkins to via for the No. 3 role in the offense.

Our View: There is a chance that Horn won't be with the team when they head to training camp. The veteran simple doesn't fit the rebuilding plan of the Falcons.
Jeremy Shockey, TE, New Orleans SaintsThursday 4/17, 3:14 PM CT
Team's have contacted the Giants about disgruntled TE Jeremy Shockey, but that doesn't mean the club is looking to move him, this according to the AP. "Right now all I can say on Jeremy Shockey is that he is our starting tight end,” GM Jerry Reese said.

Our View: Shockey will certainly be a hot commodity if the Giants choose to actively shop him, and given his injury history and expressed displeasure with the team, there seems to be a chance that he could end up being moved.
Michael Strahan, DE, New York GiantsThursday 4/17, 3:10 PM CT
Michael Strahan will not be pushed into deciding whether or not to return in 2008 by the team, this according to the AP. “Sooner is better for us, but it is not going to weigh any decisions on what we are going to do in the draft,” GM Jerry Reese said. “We are going to try to draft good players in the draft whether Michael is here or not.”

Our View: Most reports seem to indicate that Strahan will be back this season to provide pressure from the D-Line like he has done most of his previous 15 seasons.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR, Cincinnati BengalsThursday 4/17, 2:49 PM CT
T.J. Houshmandzadeh broke his silence on the Chad Johnson front and you might be surprised to read what he said according to ESPN. "If he's not traded it's going to be a problem." Houshmandzadeh told ESPN's Bob Holtzman. "I think eventually he'll show up, but then you have to worry about how much of a distraction he'll be."

Our View: And so it goes. Johnson's teammates have to be fed up with his me first attitude and with T.J. coming out against him today it would seem like he has very few allies in that dressing room.
Matt Stewart, LB, Thursday 4/17, 2:42 PM CT
LB Matt Stewart signed a 1-year contract to join the Cardinals for the 2008 season, this according to the East Valley Tribune.

Our View: Stewart spent all of '07 in the IR as a member of the Browns because of an injured shoulder. He is expected to fill the role of backup linebacker and special teams force in Arizona.
Terrell Suggs, LB, Baltimore RavensThursday 4/17, 1:02 PM CT
Terrell Suggs surprised his teammates and team officials on Thursday when he showed up to the team's mini-camp despite not having a contract, this according to ESPN. "I want to show my coach [John Harbaugh] that I'm on board," Suggs said. "I wanted to show him that I have total faith in him. We've had a couple of phone conversation in which he said he was the new coach. He laid out his plans on where he wants to go. I've liked him from our first conversation."

Our View: This is fantastic news for Ravens fans as it appears that Suggs will let his agent negotiate while he just plays football. We wish more players would take this attitude as it's certainly a welcomed change.
Jared Allen, DE, Minnesota VikingsThursday 4/17, 12:53 PM CT
Jared Allen may end up getting his wish after all as it appears that the Chiefs are now accepting offers for the sack king, this according to NFL.com. The report stated that Allen has visits scheduled with the Vikings and the Bucs in the next week.

Our View: Allen was franchised and not happy about it as he wanted a long term deal. Even worse, Allen felt that the team lied to him through the process and it's clear that he wants out of KC. Seems like he might get his wish.
Steve McNair, QB, Thursday 4/17, 10:09 AM CT
Steve McNair is expected to announce his retirement from the NFL today, according to the Baltimore Sun. He was previously believed to continue his 13-year career, and this news is surprising.

Our View: The team has quarterback's Kyle Boller and Troy Smith on the roster, and are believed to be targeting Matt Ryan of Boston College with their 8th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Joe Jurevicius, WR, Cleveland BrownsThursday 4/17, 9:42 AM CT
Joe Jurevicius is reportedly fine following a bout with a staph infection, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. The team noted he is fine and his illness following knee surgery is a "non story."

Our View: The sure-handed vet is expected to participate in organized team activities in May and the team minicamp in June.
Alex Brown, DE, Chicago BearsThursday 4/17, 8:18 AM CT
Alex Brown is expected to start at defensive end opposite Adewale Ogunleye this season, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Mark Anderson is expected to return to his role as a situational pass rusher, as he notably made 12 sacks as a rookie in 2006.

Our View: Brown should challenge a favorable amount of tackles, but his sack potential will be compromised with Anderson in the fold.
Mark Anderson, DE, Chicago BearsThursday 4/17, 8:12 AM CT
Mark Anderson is expected to return to his role as a situational pass rusher with the Bears this season, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View: He excelled as a pass rusher in his rookie season as he made 12 sacks, but he reverted to 4.5 sacks in 2007, when he was handed a bigger role. Alex Brown should return to his starting spot, so Anderson can continue to do what he does best, as a sack artist.
Marion Barber, RB, Dallas CowboysThursday 4/17, 8:06 AM CT
Marion Barber is reportedly not close to signing a new deal with the Cowboys, according to the Dallas News. The team offered him a new contract for $30 million, but he wants a deal for between $40-60 million. Coach Wade Phillips has already named him the starter for 2008.

Our View: Hopefully he will come to terms with Dallas before training camp.
