Alonzo Mourning, C, Miami HeatMonday 6/2, 5:22 PM CT
Alonzo Mourning isn't ready to hang up his sneakers. He tore the patella tendon in his right knee on December 19. "I want to come back and play another year," Mourning tells the AP. "I just want to get my body right to do it. I need to get my body where my mind is... I still, in my mind, feel I can contribute." The big man will be a free agent this summer.

Our View: The seven-time All-Star has never lacked heart, and we've learned not to doubt that he can come back from anything. At this point, though, we assume he is just trying to win a bet with Dikembe Mutombo.
Dwight Howard, C, Orlando MagicMonday 6/2, 4:39 PM CT
The Magic have inked general manager Otis Smith to a three-year contract extension, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The deal includes a team option for a fourth season.

Our View: The Magic have been on the rise since Smith took over in 2005, so this news isn't too surprising. Smith will have a busy offseason, though, as seven Magic players are headed to free agency.
Tony Allen, G, Boston CelticsMonday 6/2, 3:35 PM CT
Tony Allen is doubtful for the NBA Finals, according to the AP. Coach Doc Rivers said (following practice on Monday), "It doesn’t look good. He couldn’t get through even the walkthrough portion."

Our View: He isn't a heavy hitter as a scorer for the Celtics, but could still be considered a tough loss if he doesn't play, as he has had some success guarding MVP Kobe Bryant. He held Bryant to 22 points on 6-for-25 shooting back on December 30, in a game that Boston won 110-91.
Michael Redd, G, Milwaukee BucksMonday 6/2, 12:41 PM CT
There is speculation that the Cavaliers are interested in acquiring Michael Redd of the Bucks, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Our View: The Bucks are believed to be interested in trading Michael Redd, as he is owed $50 million over the next three years. Redd averaged 22.7 points per game in 2007-08 and would serve as a strong scoring compliment to King James in Cleveland. Wally Szcerbiak could serve as the most favorable trait bait for the Cavs.
