Dirk Nowitzki, F, Dallas MavericksSaturday 3/8, 11:03 PM CT
Another strong performance from Dirk Nowitzki has put Dallas back in the win column. Dirk threw in 34 points iced with nine rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Nowitzki has not been his normal MVP-worth self at times this year, but the ability to throw big numbers on the board makes him an automatic in fantasy leagues. Tonight shows why.
Tracy McGrady, G, Houston RocketsSaturday 3/8, 10:55 PM CT
The power that is Tracy McGrady led the Houston Rockets to another strong win this evening, scoring 41 points with six rebounds and nine assists in the Rockets' 106-96 win over the New Orleans Hornets. The effort since losing Yao Ming has been outstanding as T-Mac lets his true colors show: Get him the ball and get out of the way. Fantasy owners can expect more of the same as the Rockets barrel forward.
Chris Paul, G, New Orleans HornetsSaturday 3/8, 10:51 PM CT
Chris Paul posted 37 points, 11 assists, and two steals as the Hornets fall to the Houston Rockets, 96-106. With another outstanding performance, Paul is making all the noise he can for the MVP to come to New Orleans, but the failure to win leaves disappointment.
Dwight Howard, C, Orlando MagicSaturday 3/8, 10:36 PM CT
Despite a troubling loss to the Golden State Warriors (104-95), Dwight Howard did his best to keep the Magic in the hunt, scoring 26 points with 12 rebounds and five blocks. Howard ranks as the best young big man in the league and these numbers, while nice, could be viewed as a bit disappointing from a fantasy aspect. The kid can do so much that anything less than excellence is a surprise.
Baron Davis, G, Los Angeles ClippersSaturday 3/8, 10:31 PM CT
Baron Davis came through for the Golden State Warriors, leading the way to a 104-95 victory over the Orlando Magic, posting 33 points, 9 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. Davis is a scoring machine but tonight's performance shows he can bring the whole dinner to town. This is a huge win for the Warriors over a quality team out of the East and Davis got them over the hump.
Dwyane Wade, G, Miami HeatSaturday 3/8, 10:23 PM CT
Dwyane Wade posted 24 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, and block in Miami's loss to the Atlanta Hawks this evening. The supporting cast for Wade nearly pulled off a much-needed victory, but both Wade and Ricky Davis shots from beyond the three-point arc in the waining seconds to force overtime. The point production has to be a bit relieving for fans of Wade with memories of potential knee problems looming, but a win would be nice.
Joe Johnson, G, Atlanta HawksSaturday 3/8, 10:15 PM CT
Once again, it is Joe Johnson leading the way for the Atlanta Hawks. In tonight's 97-94 victory, it was Johnson's 39 points, 8 assists, and six rebounds that served as the shining headline on the day. Nothing too shocking for the lil' guard that could, but the more Johnson does, the less his supporting cast brings to help.
Anderson Varejao, F, Cleveland CavaliersSaturday 3/8, 5:13 PM CT
LeBron's 38 ruled the day, but Cavs' center Anderson Varejao picked up 16 rebounds while adding 15 points of his own in Cleveland's 103-95 win over the Pacers today. Varejao's play has picked up since returning from an ankle injury and performances like this could foreshadow big things to come in the playoffs as the Cavs target the East title.
LeBron James, F, Cleveland CavaliersSaturday 3/8, 3:44 PM CT
LeBron James racked up 38 points, including five triples, and pulled down 11 rebounds against the Pacers on Saturday. James hit 11 of his 12 free-throw attempts and has averaged over 80 percent from the charity stripe during his past five games. If he could ever gain real consistency as a free-throw shooter, he'd be the undisputed No. 1 fantasy baller. But he's averaged 72.9 percent for his career and just 71.3 this season. At 10+ attemtps per game, it can be tough to overcome in roto leagues.
Chris Bosh, F, Toronto RaptorsSaturday 3/8, 1:04 PM CT
There remains no indication of when Chris Bosh will be able to return to action, according to the Toronto Star. At this point, we have to consider him out indefinitely and just hope he can return from his sore knee relatively soon.
Yi Jianlian, F, New Jersey NetsSaturday 3/8, 12:57 PM CT
Yi Jianlian had his sprained right wrist examined by three doctors on Friday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "It's kind of an indescribable pain, and that's one of the reasons we wanted him to see so many physicians," Bucks coach Larry Krystkowiak said. Results from the exams haven't been released, but the fact that he's hurting badly enough to have it examined by several doctors is concerning.
Jamal Crawford, G, New York KnicksSaturday 3/8, 12:19 PM CT
Jamal Crawford sustained a bruised right hand during Friday's game against the Pistons, according to the New York Daily News. It's not clear if it will affect his availability for Saturday's run with the Trail Blazers.
Chris Kaman, C, Los Angeles ClippersSaturday 3/8, 1:08 AM CT
Chris Kaman may be recovering from a sore back, but he still got the job done on Friday night as he contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds against the Lakers. His minutes may decrease but he can still be productive as a fantasy performer.
Derek Fisher, G, Los Angeles LakersSaturday 3/8, 1:02 AM CT
Derek Fisher led the Lakers with 17 points in a winning effort against the Clippers. Kobe Bryant finished second in scoring with 16.
Allen Iverson, G, Denver NuggetsSaturday 3/8, 12:57 AM CT
Allen Iverson scored a team high 29 points in a winning effort against the Spurs. He also contributed nine assists and two boards.
Manu Ginobili, G, San Antonio SpursSaturday 3/8, 12:53 AM CT
Manu Ginobili led the Spurs with 24 points Friday night. He also added five assists and four boards.
Kevin Martin, G, Sacramento KingsSaturday 3/8, 12:14 AM CT
Kevin Martin impressively scored 48 points in a losing effort for the Kings on Friday. The next highest scorer on the team was John Salmons with 15. That is amazing considering he entered the game listed as questionable with his thumb injury.
Al Jefferson, F, Minnesota TimberwolvesSaturday 3/8, 12:10 AM CT
Al Jefferson was once again the Timberwolves most productive player on the court as he scored 21 points with a game high 13 rebounds. He also made three steals, which is great for a big man.
Amare Stoudemire, F, Phoenix SunsSaturday 3/8, 12:04 AM CT
Amare Stoudemire had a big game in a losing effort against the Jazz as he scored a game high 37 points. He is now averaging 27.8 points over his last five games.
Mehmet Okur, F, Utah JazzSaturday 3/8, 12:00 AM CT
Mehmet Okur had another strong outing on Friday as he scored 25 points with 14 rebounds. He has now notched a double-double in four of his last five games.
