Dario Franchitti, Tuesday 9/2, 4:19 PM CT
Dario Franchitti will be leaving NASCAR and returns to the IndyCar series in 2009, according to NASCAR.com. He will drive the No. 10 Ganassi car in that series.

Our View: Franchitti is currently on the entry list for the Nationwide Series race this weekend, but don't be surprised if that changes before the weekend.
A.J. Allmendinger, Tuesday 9/2, 2:07 PM CT
With his 14th-place finish in the Pepsi 500—his fifth top 20 in the last seven races— A.J. Allmendinger jumped up to 31st in the owner standings. Sam Hornish Jr. finished 31st and fell out of the top 35.

Our View: While Allmendinger has been improving, Hornish finished in the 30s in back-to-back races but the big loser may have been Robby Gordon, who slipped four spots to sit on the bubble.
