Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 3/5, 8:41 AM CT
The Yankees are "furious" with superstar third baseman Alex Rodriguez, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Now doesn't that make you nostalgic? They are upset that A-Rod did not "immediately inform them he had been contacted by the FBI to testify in a matter concerning Anthony Galea, the Canadian doctor linked to the importing of illegal drugs." Does this mean anything? Absolutely not.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 12/17, 2:35 PM CT
After seeing hip specialist Dr. Marc Phillipon, it's been determined that Alex Rodriguez will not require another surgery on his right hip that kept him out at the beginning of the 2009 season, according the the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: After A-Rod's original surgery, it was thought that he might need a follow-up procedure after the season, but it looks like the slugger healed nicely and will be at full health heading into 2010. Feel safe drafting him in the top half of the first round once fantasy drafts start to roll around.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 11/2, 10:38 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez drove in three on Monday as the Yankees fell to the Phillies 8-6 in Game 5 of the World Series. Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in the contest.

Our View: After a slow start in the series, A-Rod has been much better over the last few games. The Yanks have two more chances to clinch the title, and A-Rod figures to be right in the middle of the rest of the series.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 11/1, 1:02 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run homer and reached base three other times on Saturday night, helping the Yankees to an 8-5 win in game three of the World Series in Philadelphia. The Yankees now lead the best-of-seven series two games to one.

Our View: A-Rod's big night came on the heels of an 0-for-8 performance (including six strikeouts) in the series' first two games in New York City. If his bat is going, the Yanks will be hard to beat.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 10/24, 5:35 PM CT
According to Joel Sherman on Twitter, Game 6 of the ALCS has been postponed due to rain.

Our View: The Yankees will have to wait one more day to try and clinch their 40th AL pennant. The rain is expected to continue throughout the night, so the game has been pushed to Sunday at 7:20 p.m. Andy Pettite will take on Joe Saunders assuming Mother Nature doesn't get in the way again.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 10/20, 10:54 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez moved the Yankees one step closer to the World Series, as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in tonight's 10-1 win over the Angels in Game 4 of the ALCS. He hit a single, double and a two-run homer off Jason Bulger.

Our View: New York now holds a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. A-Rod has three homers and five RBI over the first four games, with a .375 batting average.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 10/20, 10:44 AM CT
The intentional walk given to Alex Rodriguez in the ninth inning of game two of the ALCS on Monday made him just the fourth player in playoff history to be intentionally walked with the bases empty and the game tied, according to AOL Fanhouse's Ed Price.

Our View: It appears the Angels and Fuentes had learned their lesson after foolishly grooving A-Rod a fastball, which he crushed, late in game two. A-Rod has blown up his reputation as a postseason failure this year, batting .348 with four home runs and nine RBI in just six games.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 10/19, 7:58 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit another long home run on Monday in the Yankees' 5-4 loss to the Angels. A-Rod now has four homers in six postseason games this season.

Our View: So much for A-Rod not being able to get it done in the postseason. He has been a home run machine for the Yanks so far in the playoffs, and he was even intentionally walked with the bases empty in this game. He finally looks ready to lead his team to a World Series, but the Angels will still have something to say about that.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 10/18, 12:26 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez had just one hit in Saturday's 13-inning affair, but it was a big one. He homered to tie the game in the 11th inning and the Yanks eventually won in walk-off fashion, taking a 2-0 series lead in the ALCS.

Our View: A-Rod's homer was a wall-scraper, but it got the job done. Looks like he has shed his reputation as a postseason dud, as he already has three homers and seven RBI this October.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 10/11, 9:40 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez continued his strong hitting as the Yankees completed a sweep of the Twins with a 4-1 victory on Sunday. A-Rod was 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored and a walk.

Our View: A-Rod's home run was an absolute blast that tied the game at one. He has hit four home runs in his last four games going back to the regular season. He also has at least one RBI in each of those four games for a total of 13. He is hitting .455 through three playoff games.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 10/9, 9:44 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to force a 3-3 tie that ended in an eventual 4-3, 11-inning Yankee victory and 2-0 ALDS lead over the Twins.

Our View: A-Rod finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI and has now driven in five over the first two games of the series. Looks like the postseason ghosts have finally stopped haunting the Yankee slugger.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 10/9, 3:36 PM CT
Fanhouse.com is reporting that the surgeon who performed hip surgery on Alex Rodriguez believes that a follow-up operation is likely unnecessary. Dr. Marc J. Phillippon believes the A-Rod is at 95 percent, but he will undergo more tests after the season is over.

Our View: A-Rod would love to avoid another surgery, and it looks like he may get his wish. His hip is the last thing on his mind right now, as the Yanks will try to take a commanding 2-0 lead on the Twins tonight at Yankee Stadium.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 10/4, 5:21 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez cracked two homers and drove in seven runs all in the sixth inning of the Yankees 10-2 win over the Rays. All ten New York runs came in the sixth.

Our View: A-Rod was 3-for-4 on the day overall and finishes the season with exactly 30 homers and 100 RBI. He now has 12 consecutive 100-RBI campaigns and eight seasons where he achieved both feats simultaneously.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 9/25, 10:19 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 3-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored in tonight's 9-5 win over the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. He hit a single, double and a two-run homer off Jon Lester.

Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 9/22, 12:04 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a single and a solo homer off Joe Saunders in Monday's 5-2 loss at the Angels.

Our View: A-Rod recorded his 26th homer of the season, and No. 579 for his career. He is hitting .358 over 67 at-bats this month as well.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 9/12, 8:51 AM CT
FoxSports.com is reporting that Yankees' third baseman Alex Rodriguez will not be disciplined by MLB after the league completed its investigation into whether he lied about his use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Our View: It looks like the A-Rod investigation is over. The league found no information to challenge his claims that he only used from 2001-2003, so he will not be punished. Hopefully we can put this issue in the rear-view mirror, but A-Rod is now synonymous with steroids and will be for all time.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 9/7, 4:20 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 4-1 win over Tampa Bay at Yankee Stadium. He hit a double and a pair of singles.

Our View: A-Rod recorded multiple hits in four of his last five games, and racked up nine RBI over six games this month.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 9/6, 7:54 AM CT
The New York Post is reporting that Yankees' third baseman Alex Rodriguez wll get his weekly day off on Sunday. Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with an RBI in Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Our View: A-Rod hasn't sat this week yet, so manager Joe Girardi decided to rest him today with a doubleheader coming tomorrow against the Rays. He has manged to put together a very nice season coming off his hip surgery, and the Yanks want to make sure he doesn't wear down when the postseason comes around.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 9/2, 10:00 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez helped lead the Yankees in Wednesday's 10-2 win at Baltimore, as he went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored. All three of his hits were singles.

Our View: A-Rod extended his hitting streak to 10 games, with 18 total hits and 11 RBI over the span.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 9/2, 9:02 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez may not need additional surgery on his balky right hip this offseason, according to MLB.com.

Our View: It had been long assumed that A-Rod would again go under the knife this offseason after Spring Training hip surgery. Since returning on May 9 from his March operation, Rodriguez has hit .269 with 23 home runs and 71 RBI in 98 games.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 8/29, 2:54 PM CT

Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 8/27, 8:48 AM CT
The Associate Press reports that Alex Rodriguez exited Wednesday's game after fouling a ball off his left foot.

Our View: A-Rod fouled the ball off his foot in the seventh inning, stayed in the game for another half inning and was then removed by Manager Joe Girardi. The foot is bruised, but Girardi says the reason he took A-Rod out is that the score was 9-2 and there was no reason to push him. It's unclear whether the injury will keep him out of today's contest. Stay tuned.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 8/23, 10:36 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with three RBI in Sunday's 8-4 win at rival Boston. He hit a two-run homer off Josh Beckett.

Our View: A-Rod snapped a 10-game drought without a homer, and has 22 for the season. Tonight's shot was also the 575th of his career.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 8/19, 7:35 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is still sore from being struck in the left elbow by a pitch for the second time in a week Tuesday against Oakland, according to the Associated Press. He has also been dealing with back pain.

Our View: A-Rod is not concerned with his ailments, but noted that he will talk to skipper Joe Girardi to determine whether he needs a break. The Yankees' next day off is Thursday.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 8/15, 8:29 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is set to return to the Yankees' lineup for tonight's game at Seattle, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: He has been dealing with back spasms and an elbow ailment, but the elite third baseman should be fine to pencil back into fantasy lineups. Opposing hurler Luke French carries a 4.31 ERA.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 8/14, 6:36 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is out of tonight's lineup at Seattle while dealing with back spasms, according to Bryan Hoch's twitter page.

Our View: The severity of the injury is yet to be disclosed. Consider the elite third baseman day-to-day for now.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 8/13, 7:40 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is not available for tonight's game at Seattle due to swelling in his ailing left elbow, according to Bryan Hoch's twitter page.

Our View: He was beaned in Wednesday's battle against the Jays, and was not expected to play tonight. Consider him day-to-day.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 8/12, 6:28 PM CT
According to the Journal News, X-rays were negative on Alex Rodriguez's left elbow.

Our View: A-Rod got beaned in the 11th inning of Wednesday's walk-off win over the Blue Jays. He stayed in the game, and actually scored the winning run, but the elbow was sore enough to require X-rays. Still, it looks like he's fine but he'll get the day off Thursday. Be sure to adjust your lineups.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 8/8, 12:00 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez led the Yankees in tonight's 2-0 win over the rival Red Sox in New York, as he launched a walk-off two-run homer off Junichi Tazawa in the bottom of the 15th inning. He also registered a single.

Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 7/31, 10:42 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez performed well in tonight's 10-5 loss at Chicago, as he went 3-for-5 with an RBI. All three of his knocks were singles.

Our View: A-Rod has gone 11 straight games without a homer, but has 11 hits and six RBI over that span.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 7/18, 3:19 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez had a routine game for his 2009 self on Saturday, going 1-for-4 with a solo home run and strikeout, as the Yankees beat the Tigers 2-1 in a rare low-scoring game at Yankee Stadium.

Our View: A-Rod's power is what you would expect from him in 2009, but his average of .250 is 54 points below his career average. Obviously, he is still a must start because of his prodigious power, though.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 7/11, 7:06 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 14-8 loss at the Angels. Both of his hits were home runs.

Our View: A-Rod has three home runs over his last two games, and hit 17 over 57 games. He should remain a strong performer among fantasy third basemen.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 7/11, 8:32 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit his 15th home run on Friday, but the Yankees lost 10-6 in Anaheim.

Our View: A-Rod is quietly aligning himself for a 30 homer, 100 RBI season. Even if he goes into another slump, he should be in your lineup every day.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 7/5, 11:58 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez is not in the Yankees' lineup for their Sunday afternoon game against the Blue Jays. He is being replaced by Cody Ransom at third base.

Our View: The Yankees planned to give A-Rod a day off this weekend, and they decided today was the day. He is expected to be back for the next game, so if you get him out today make sure you get him back in after.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 7/4, 8:45 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that the Yankees plan to give third baseman Alex Rodriguez a day off at some point during their weekend series against the Blue Jays. A-Rod homered in the first game of the series on Friday.

Our View: We will keep you updated on A-Rod's status for each game this weekend, but don't be shocked when he is out of the lineup. It would make the most sense to sit him Sunday since today is kind of a big deal, so watch the lineups closely.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 7/3, 3:37 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez launched another homer on Friday in the Yankees' 4-2 win over the Blue Jays on Friday. Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with the solo shot.

Our View: A-Rod is starting to show his power, and although his average is still low at .237, his 14 homers are very solid. The average will improve, and as long as the power is still there he will be a solid fantasy option all year.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 7/1, 8:39 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer off Jarrod Washburn in tonight's 4-2 win over the Mariners at Yankee Stadium. His other knock was a single.

Our View: Rodriguez swatted a homer in four of his last six games, and has 13 for the season. Tonight's dinger was No. 566 for his career.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 6/30, 10:35 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in tonight's 8-5 win over the Mariners at Yankee Stadium.

Our View: A-Rod continues to hit for power while coming off hip surgery, as he crushed a homer in three of his last five games, and has 12 for the season.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 6/26, 10:22 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer off reliever Elmer Dessens in Friday's 9-1 win at the Mets.

Our View: A-Rod homered in back-to-back games and seems to be past his battle with fatique. He hit his 564th homer, hence passing Reggie Jackson on the career list.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 6/25, 10:14 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez carried the Yankees offensively in tonight's 11-7 win at Atlanta, as he went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. He hit two singles and a solo homer off Derek Lowe.

Our View: A-Rod looks to be past his bout with fatigue, evidenced by his solid performance. He should be safe to keep active in fantasy lineups.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 6/25, 7:12 PM CT
Skipper Joe Girardi indicated that Alex Rodriguez is feeling good and should play in this weekend's subway series against the Mets, according to the Associated Press. Rodriguez has been dealing with fatigue.

Our View: A-Rod should be fine to keep active in fantasy lineups, but expectations should be tempered as he is only hitting .152 over 66 at-bats in June.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 6/22, 8:24 AM CT
The New York Post reports that Alex Rodriguez may have been fatigued this weekend from staying out too late on Friday night.

Our View: It's unclear what exactly A-Rod was celebrating, since his season is quickly becoming comparable to David Ortiz's, sans the walkoff pop fly he hit against the Mets. Whatever it was, he's left his owners with little reason to celebrate. You have to keep starting him, but you may want to consider unloading him if there is anybody in your league who thinks he might turn his season way A-Round in the near future and is willing to give up a haul for the struggling slugger.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 6/21, 7:53 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a single and two RBI in Sunday's 6-5 loss at Florida.

Our View: A-Rod snapped a five-game skid without a hit or RBI. He is struggling in June with a dismal .152 (9-for-59) batting average.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 6/21, 10:40 AM CT
According to the Miami Herald, Manager Joe Girardi states that barring any unforeseen setbacks Alex Rodriguez will play in the the Yankees-Marlins series finale on Sunday.

Our View: Girardi continues to insist that A-Rod was benched due to fatigue and not poor play, so I guess he feels the ever-newsworthy slugger isn't tired any more. Adjust your lineups accordingly and get A-Rod back in there (you kind of have to, you know?). We'll monitor his status in case one of those "unforeseen setbacks" rears its ugly head.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 6/20, 5:28 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Alex Rodriguez is indeed out of the Yankees' lineup for their Saturday night game against the Marlins. This will be the second straight game A-Rod has missed.

Our View: Manager Joe Girardi said he was sitting A-Rod for the weekend, but many people thought he would be back in the lineup tonight. He is not, so fantasy owners should hurry and replace him for tonight's game if possible. His status for tomorrow's contest in still unknown.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 6/19, 4:31 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez has been benched by the Yankees for two days, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: A-Rod will ride the pine as he is only hitting .145 so far in June, and is stuck in an 0-for-15 slump. Skipper Joe Girardi noted that A-Rod is fatigued, and should be held out of fantasy lineups for tonight's game against Florida.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 6/13, 6:54 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with a solo homer off Fernando Nieve in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Mets at Yankee Stadium.

Our View: A-Rod ended a six-game skid without a homer, and now has nine for the season. Only one of his homers was hit away from the new Yankee Stadium.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 6/11, 11:11 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was productive in Thursday's 4-3 loss at Boston, as he went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI. He also swiped a base.

Our View: A-Rod ended a three-game skid without a hit, and a four-game drought without an RBI. He is only hitting .176 so far in June.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 5/25, 4:22 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 5-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and two runs scored as the Yankees throttled the Rangers 11-1 on Monday.

Our View: Amazingly, none of A-Rod's hits left the yard today. Entering the game seven of his 10 hits were home runs. His average jumped from .189 to .259 as a result of today's five hits.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 5/23, 5:57 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez tied the Yankees-Phillies game up at 4-4 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning off Brad Lidge. New York went on to win the game two batters later after Robinson Cano singled, stole second base and got driven in by Melky Cabrera.

Our View: A-Rod is batting just .204 on the season, but you won't hear his owners complaining given that seven of his 10 hits have left the yard. A-Rod has been criticized in the past for compiling much of his numbers in meaningless at-bats, but he's already gone a long way toward regaining his support from Yankees fans with several meaningful home runs in his mere 15 games played thus far.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 5/22, 9:28 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit a solo home run in Friday's 7-3 loss to the Phillies. He finished the game 2-for-4 with a strikeout.

Our View: A-Rod's power certainly hasn't gone anywhere. He is hitting a mere .200 but there's no denying his fantasy value. The average will come around, but he's clearly enjoying the new ballpark. Five of his six home runs have come in his home park.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/19, 9:05 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went deep again on Tuesday as the Yankees beat the Orioles 9-1. Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with the homer, a run scored, and two RBI in the game.

Our View: A-Rod is still hitting under .200 so far in 2009, but he has hit a home run in four straight games. Unfortunately, it seems like the only hits he gets are home runs. It's not a terrible thing, as he is showing he still has the power, and he is too good of a hitter for his average to stay this low.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 5/18, 9:54 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit his third home run in as many games in Monday's 7-6 win over the Twins. His solo shot in the first inning was his only hit in three at bats. He also drew a walk and struck out once.

Our View: While the .188 average is a glaring black eye, look at the damage he does to the other guy! He still boasts an impressive .395 OBP and a .563 SLG. Four of his six hits have left the park, and he looks almost as powerful as ever through 10 games.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 5/17, 4:09 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit his third home run of the season in the Yankees 3-2 win over the Twins on Sunday. The solo shot was his only hit in three at bats and his second round-tripper in as many games.

Our View: Three of A-Rod's five hits have left the park. Despite missing the first month of the season, he is already on pace to hit 45 home runs and drive in 104 runs. He is hitting a mere .172, but he is drawing a walk per game.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 5/16, 4:50 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit a walk-off two-run home run on Saturday to lead the Yankees to a 6-4 win in 11 innings. A-Rod was 1-for-4 on the game and is now hitting .154 since his return.

Our View: A-Rod has been struggling out of the gate, but he has shown the ability to hit big home runs. He homered in his first at-bat of the season, and he hit a walk-off today in his second home game to lead the Yanks to a victory. His slow start should have been expected, and the power numbers are there now and should only continue to improve.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 5/8, 9:49 PM CT
As previously reported, Alex Rodriguez homered in his first at-bat of the season, but that was the only hit he could muster in four trips. Still, his three-run blast gave the Yankees a 4-0 win over the Orioles.

Our View: Amid controversy, injuries and mud-slinging, the guy can still rake. The hip doesn't seem to have affected A-Rod's power, as referenced by the home run, and fantasy owners are hoping for more to come from the recently rehabbed slugger.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 5/8, 6:26 PM CT
It didn't take long for Alex Rodriguez to make an impact. The controversial slugger hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat of the season on Friday against the Orioles.

Our View: The homer came off of O's "ace" Jeremy Guthrie. This is a nice little welcome home present for A-Rod owners, and it looks like the hip can't be bothering him that much. We doubt he'll hit 1.000 with 500 home runs this season, but this is a nice start.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 5/8, 12:30 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is set to make his 2009 debut tonight against the Orioles following his recovery from hip surgery, according to ESPN. Manager Joe Girardi said, "He feels he is ready and we think it is great. It is great to have your No. 4 hitter come back. In a sense it is like we made a huge trade. We did not have him the first five weeks so we're all very excited. He is excited and I made it very clear that we miss him."

Our View: Girardi will be pleased to get him back as the Yankees are off to a disappointing 13-15 start. The Yankees have lost five straight games, which is currently the worst skid in the AL. A-Rod should be fine to employ in fantasy lineups right away.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 5/7, 5:00 PM CT
Updating a previous note, Fox Sports confirms that Alex Rodriguez will indeed play on Friday against Baltimore. He has been out since having hip surgery on March 9.

Our View: A-Rod has not hit very well in his rehab, so it would seem unlikely that he gets off to a lightning start. Still, he's been among the top fantasy producers ever since entering the league, and we like his odds of satisfying his owners this season.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 5/7, 2:38 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is "almost certain" to return to the Yankees for Friday's battle with Baltimore, according to the New York Post. He has been recovering from hip surgery.

Our View: A-Rod is expected to return Friday if he fares fine in Thursday's intra-squad game in extended spring training. We will keep you posted on his status.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 5/6, 3:03 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez, who has been rehabbing from hip surgery, went 1-for-5 with a single in an extended spring training game today, according to the Associated Press. He played in the DH role. He slid into second on an infield grounder and he said, "The slide was good. No problems. I feel good."

Our View: A-Rod noted that he is uncertain if he will rejoin the Yankees Friday in Baltimore. Skipper Joe Girardi previously mentioned that he could be back on that day.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/5, 3:49 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez homered twice and played seven innings in the field for the second straight day in an extended spring training game Tuesday, according to the AP.

Our View: A-Rod said he didn't know about any possible return date, but manager Joe Girardi has said he could be back Friday.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/5, 7:40 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez could come off the DL to make his season debut on Friday, according to the NY Post. He is recovering from hip surgery. "Friday is a possibility," manager Joe Girardi said. "Is Friday the day? I can't tell you."

Our View: A-Rod had a homer in seven at-bats in an extended spring training game Monday, and although he didn't have the opportunity to field a ball, he said he "feels good." We'll provide updates on his return as soon as we get them.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 5/4, 4:40 PM CT
USA Today reports that Alex Rodriguez was 1-for-6 with a home run and a walk while also playing seven innings in the field against Phillies minor leaguers on Monday. He did not have a single ball hit his way.

Our View: Two of Rodriguez's three hits in his rehab have left the yard. The problem is that he only has three hits. It seems his timing is still off and he will need to get more work in the field before returning to the Yankees. New York would like to bring him up on May 8, but he would have to take some pretty big strides in the next few days to get to that point.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 5/2, 12:36 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez handled third base for five innings on Saturday. It was the first time he played defense in a game since undergoing right hip surgery. He reiterates that he feels ahead of the expected May 15 return date, FOXSports.com reports.

Our View: Hopefully A-Rod's hip feels fine later in the day and on Sunday, as this was yet another test. We'll be even more excited when we see him running the bases at full speed and sliding.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 5/2, 7:59 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez played in another extended spring training game on Friday. He handled seven at-bats, but the third baseman did not play the field or run the bases at full speed. "I felt good," Rodriguez tells the New York Daily News. However, the paper feels like A-Rod should be doing a lot more right now if he is going to return before May 15.

Our View: Fantasy owners and the Yankees are obviously eager to get A-Rod back, but we agree that he should be testing his hip more right now if May 8 was a legit possibility.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 4/30, 5:15 PM CT
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that if there is irrefutable evidence that contradicts the information that Alex Rodriguez shared with MLB officials regarding his past steroid use, he could face a penalty.

Our View: A lot of information is beginning to leak from a book about Rodriguez that has yet to be released. Expect the allegations to continue to gather steam following the book's release. Of note is that the author claims to have evidence that he has used steroids as far back as high school (when he went from bench pressing 100 pounds to 310 in six months) and as recently as 2004 while with the Yankees when he and former pitcher Kevin Brown used HGH together.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 4/30, 11:57 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez appeared in his first rehab game today since undergoing hip surgery March 9, according to MLB.com. A-Rod went 1-for-6 with a home run and two walks against right-handers Matt Richardson and Jose Ramirez in the intrasquad, extended spring outing played at the Yankees' minor league complex.

Our View: The Yankees expect A-Rod to return to the lineup no later than May 15, but there is still speculation he could be back as early as May 9. Skipper Joe Girardi noted that he will bat in the cleanup spot upon his return.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 4/30, 7:21 AM CT
A soon-to-be-released book claims that Alex Rodriguez may have used steroids in high school, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The book, written by Selena Roberts of Sports Illustrated, states that A-Rod has a "needy" personality and needs his ego stimulated constantly. Two anonymous members of the Yankees said they believed A-Rod was using banned substances based on visual side effects, which is also in the upcoming book. A-Rod also allegedly let the opposition know what pitches were coming in lop-sided games while with the Rangers.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/29, 6:11 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Alex Rodriguez will participate in an extended spring training game on Thursday as a DH. He will DH a few games in the next few days before playing the field. The report suggests that his return date could be pushed up to May 8 if he does not suffer any setbacks.

Our View: Everything is pretty much going as planned for A-Rod as he rehabs from his hip surgery. The Yankees and his fantasy owners are desperate for his bat, and we doubt he'll disappoint.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/29, 8:28 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez (hip) stepped up to sliding drills on Tuesday, which is the final hurdle before a minor league rehab stint. "It's getting fairly close," manager Joe Girardi tells the New York Post. "We want to make sure he responds every day. I have said all along I don't want to rush him, but we expect to see him at some point this week."

Our View: The positive news keeps rolling in. A-Rod is targeting May 9 for a return from right hip surgery. We're sure to have more A-Rod news on Wednesday, such as what he ate for lunch.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/28, 3:22 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez has moved up his target date to return to New York to the first week of May, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: His target date was previously set for May 15, but his recovery from hip surgery has gone so well that A-Rod and the Yankees are optimistic he can return a week earlier than anticipated.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 4/27, 12:08 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez could participate in a minor league game this week, and return to the Yankees as early as May 9, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: A-Rod has made great progress in his recovery from hip surgery. He was previously anticipated to return May 15.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 4/25, 3:17 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez ran the bases yet again on Saturday and is looking to begin his minor league rehab assignment in the coming week, according to the Yankees Official Website.

Our View: This was the second time in three days that he ran the bases, and as of this writing he has yet to experience a setback of any king. If all continues to go well, look for him to be back on the field some time in a couple of weeks (the target date has been listed as May 15th).
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 4/24, 5:52 PM CT
The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that Alex Rodriguez had his best day of rehab on Friday and that he could be playing in minor league rehab games by the first week of May.

Our View: It sounds like A-Rod is on track to return by the May 15 date that has been tossed around. His rehab is going very well, so stay tuned for his activation date, which will probably come sometime in the next few weeks barring a setback.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 4/23, 5:28 PM CT
According to the New York Post, Alex Rodriguez took batting practice on Thursday. He also hit off a tee and did some base running drills.

Our View: A-Rod looks to be progressing. His return date is still set for somewhere between May 8th and May 15th. We'll be sure to keep you posted when the Yankees lock down a concrete date so you can get him in your lineup as soon as possible.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/21, 7:53 AM CT
According the the New York Post, the Yankees are expecting Alex Rodriguez to be back in the lineup on or before May 8, barring any setbacks. Rodriguez is said to be about a week ahead of schedule in his rehab, which puts his return date sometime in early May.

Our View: The Yankees believe A-Rod could DH for them right now if they wanted him to, but they would prefer he get fully healthy so he can play third base every day upon his return. All news has been good on A-Rod over the last week or so, and he should only end up missing about 30 games of so if he returns when scheduled.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 4/20, 5:34 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez increased his onfield drills on Monday, making 19 throws from third base to first and nine to second, according to the Associated Press. "It feels good," Rodriguez said of his hip.

Our View: Rodriguez has yet to sprint at full speed or run the bases but did look good in batting practice, hitting 10 home runs in 75 swings. A-Rod's rehab continues to go well, and he should be back in the Yankees' lineup within the next month barring a setback.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 4/16, 2:41 PM CT
USA Today reports that Alex Rodriguez took batting practice, fielded ground balls, and made throws from third base on Thursday. He hit well while launching three home runs on 49 swings.

Our View: A-Rod's rehab from hip surgery seems to be going very well. Rodriguez, who has previously tested positive for steroids, spent most of his rehab away from the team in Colorado rather than at their spring training facility. The team had previously banned his cousin, who has been linked to trafficking steroids, from their spring training complex. Rodriguez is now back in Tampa and all seems well as he appears to be ahead of schedule.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 4/13, 1:24 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez has resumed on-field baseball drills only five weeks after undergoing hip surgery, according to the Associated Press. A-Rod hit 36 balls off a tee and handled 42 swings during a soft-toss hitting session today. He also fielded 40 grounders and did some light running at the Yankees' minor league facility.

Our View: The Yankees do not expect A-Rod to return to the team until May 15, even though the elite third baseman is optimistic of returning sooner. The next three to four days will be key in determining when he can participate in a minor league rehab game.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 4/10, 3:33 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez, who has been rehabbing his hip in Vail, Colorado, will resume baseball activities on Monday, according to ESPN.

Our View: While it seems like he may be able to come back earlier, the target date that the Yankees would like to get A-Rod back by still lies in mid-May, with anything earlier than that great news, but not expected. It looks like his owners will have to stay afloat with another option at third base for another month or so.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 4/6, 1:33 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez took a few light swings Sunday for the first time since undergoing hip surgery March 9, according to the New York Daily News. Yankees' hitting coach Kevin Long said, "He hit, very light. It is not full batting practice. It is initial swings. He is not close to full baseball activity yet. He is throwing, too, but at a very light level."

Our View: Long noted that he would not be surprised if A-Rod returned to the diamond at the end of April, but the club does not expect him back until mid-May.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/1, 7:50 AM CT
MLB.com reports that Alex Rodriguez is expected to rejoin the Yankees lineup in May. He will likely take his rehab from Colorado to the team's Tampa Bay training facility at some point this month. GM Brian Cashman has set a target date for his return at May 15, but A-Rod feels he may be able to return before then.

Our View: Initial reports suggested that the AL MVP could be ready by mid-April, but it looks as if that will not be the case. The third baseman is just one year removed from a season that saw him hit 54 home runs, to go with 156 RBI and 143 runs scored. While that type of production cannot be expected in 2008, he may still be able to match his 2008 totals when he played just 138 games.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 3/28, 9:37 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez, who has been rehabbing in Vail, Colorado, since undergoing hip surgery there on March 9, has been progressing well and will return to the Yankees' training facility in Tampa Bay, Florida, once the team breaks camp at the end of spring training, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Rodriguez is still on pace to make the mid-May return to action that was targeted back when the surgery was performed. A-Rod probably should not slip past the second round of most fantasy drafts, as he'll provide a huge boost a month and a half into the season for any team that owns him, as long as they can stay afloat with a decent replacement at third base while he's out.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 3/26, 8:15 AM CT
Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez may return to spring training before the team breaks camp, though it is unlikely, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Rodriguez is battling a hip injury, and his rehab is apparently going very well. The team expects him back by May 15, though he could be back sooner than that.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 3/22, 7:42 AM CT
A former Manhattan madam who frequently supplied call girls to Eliot Spitzer claims she also provided services for Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, according to the New York Daily News. "Throughout the years, there were a number of clients that I befriended and it was not uncommon for them to want the women they can't have whether it be the phone hookers or the madam," says Kristin Davis, who claims she even dated the embattled All-Star for a time. According to Davis, the two stopped seeing each other after Rodriguez became upset at the fact that she was involved with another man, but not before Rodriguez admitted to her about using performance-enhancing drugs.

Our View: Obviously all this won't have any effect on Rodriguez's professional career, but it does adequately portray has jilted and cankerous his off-the-field life has been behind the scenes.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 3/11, 1:40 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is recovering nicely from Monday's hip surgery, according to the Associated Press. Apparently doctors have found nothing that should keep him from returning to duty in May.

Our View: This is good news for prospective A-Rod owners, but only time will tell if he can regain his elite fantasy status. Be wary of him on draft day, especially in the first round.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 3/9, 1:14 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair his torn labrum today, and the procedure was deemed successful, according to the NY Post. Dr. Marc Phillipon said, "The surgery went exactly as planned. There were no surprises, it was exactly what we were prepared for."

Our View: A-Rod is already slated to begin a rehab program this afternoon, that includes range-of-motion exercises and riding a stationary bicycle. He is expected to return to the diamond at some point in May.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 3/8, 9:33 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez will be on the shelf for 6-9 weeks after he undergoes arthroscopic surgery to repair his torn labrum, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View: Cody Ransom is the top candidate to see the bulk of the workload at third while A-Rod is out. He will miss the first 2-4 weeks of the regular season, barring a setback.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 3/6, 8:14 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez is hoping to avoid surgery on his torn labrum, and will try to play through the injury, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: He will need around four months of rehab if surgery is deemed necessary, making A-Rod a very risky fantasy option.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 3/5, 4:06 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez had the cyst on his hip drained on Wednesday and the team hopes he can avoid surgery as a result, according to the Associated Press. However, if he is forced to undergo surgery for the torn labrum he is suffering from, he could miss up to four months of action.

Our View: All we know for certain is that A-Rod will miss the WBC. From there, what course of action that is taken will determine how much time he will miss, with estimates being anywhere from 8-16 weeks if he is forced to have surgery. Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving situation.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 3/5, 10:04 AM CT
ESPN's "First Take" reports Thursday morning that Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is expected to undergo surgery Monday to remove a cyst from his hip bone. Early prognoses are that A-Rod will miss at least 10 weeks.

Our View: An ESPN medical analyst ruled out any correlation between Rodriguez's hip ailment and the use of steroids and other illegal substances.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 3/4, 1:25 PM CT
According to the Associated Press, the Domincan team is counting on Alex Rodriguez to return. A-Rod's troubled hip could cost him some time, but the team expects him to return. Miguel Tejada is taking grounders at third just in case.

Our View: With all the drama surrounding A-Rod right now, he's still gravy from a fantasy perspective. The hip injury appears to be something he dealt with last year as well, so don't expect his production to slow significantly this spring.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 3/3, 5:46 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with a double and a run for Team Dominican Republic in an exhibition against Florida on Tuesday, flew to Colorado immediately after to see a hip specialist on Wednesday, according to PA SportsTicker.

Our View: The off-field controversy hasn't seemed to affect A-Rod's numbers in spring thus far, as he's gone 4-for-10 with one home run, four RBI, two runs and three walks thus far. While the hip tightness will likely keep him out of the next few exhibition games, it is not something that should alter his 2009 fantasy status at the moment.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 3/1, 7:32 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez had a two-hour meeting with MLB officials on Sunday, according to the Associated Press. No details of the meeting were released.

Our View: A-Rod has said that he will not speak in any more detail to the press about his PED use, but the public could find out more if any of the meeting's details are released. We'll let you know if we find out any more on the topic, as this story isn't going away any time soon.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 2/27, 5:41 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that Alex Rodriguez will meet with MLB officials on Sunday in order to discuss the details surrounding his admitted steroid use.

Our View: MLB wants to know more about the characters involved, including his cousin, who was recently suspended from the Yankees spring training facilities.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 2/26, 11:13 PM CT
The Yankees have told third baseman Alex Rodriguez to keep his cousin, Yuri Sucart, away from the ballpark, during both spring training and the regular season, according to USA Today. After homering and walking twice in a win over Toronto Wednesday, Rodriguez was picked up by Sucart outside the Blue Jays' spring training facility in Dunedin, Florida. General manager Brian Cashman said Thursday that the issue "has been handled."

Our View: Sucart has been identified as the man responsible for supplying Rodriguez with steroids from 2001-03. Rodriguez later admitted that asking Sucart to meet him in Dunedin was a mistake.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 2/25, 4:38 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run home run in his first official at-bat, according to MLB.com. He was 1-for-1 with two walks as the Yankees defeated the Blue Jays 6-1 on Wednesday.

Our View: The third baseman is still expected to be the best at his position, despite the difficulties that lie ahead of him this season. Expect him to be as focused as ever to prove that his abilities are legit and that his Hall of Fame numbers were not a result of steroids.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 2/21, 8:16 AM CT
Former major-league first baseman David Segui said Friday that he never suspected Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez of taking performance-enhancing drugs while the two were teammates in Seattle from 1998-99, according to the New York Post. "I never suspected him of taking steroids [with Seattle]," Segui said in a phone interview. "He wasn't big. He didn't have the body of a guy taking steroids. Obviously, there are different steroids for different reasons. But for most guys involved with [steroids] are hitting the weights pretty hard. And that was not the case with him."

Our View: Segui, who played for seven different teams from 1990-2004, said that steroids were so prevalent then that anyone who said he didn't at least consider using them is a liar. He also went on to add that because of the widespread use, he was not surprised by A-Rod's recent admission to using PEDs while with the Rangers from 2001-03.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 2/20, 6:27 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez has been linked to Angel Presinal, a personal trainer that was cited in the Mitchell report, according to ESPN. Presinal has been banned from MLB clubhouses since 2001.

Our View: Even though Rodriguez will not discuss his drug use any further, the topic won't be disappearing from headlines any time soon.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 2/19, 6:02 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez told reporters on Thursday that he will not be discussing his performance enhancing drug use any further, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: For many frustrated baseball fans this is welcome break from the constant steroid discussion. A-Rod said that he was relieved to be back in uniform and playing baseball.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 2/15, 4:37 PM CT
The Associated Press reports that Alex Rodriguez will hold a press conference Tuesday shortly after his arrival at the Yankees' spring training complex. Among those expected to attend is manager Joe Girardi. "I think it shows the unity of the club, and I think that's real important," Girardi said Saturday. "I think it's important teammates back teammates, and they're there for each other, and they know during difficult times they can lean on each other."

Our View: Rodriguez's press conference is scheduled to be held in the same tent where Andy Pettitte spoke in the aftermath of his steroid use admission.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 2/12, 1:21 PM CT
GM Brian Cashman noted that the Yankees are prepared to support Alex Rodriguez through his "major crisis," according to MLB.com. Cashman said, "We look forward to him joining the camp and addressing everybody to the best ability that he can, and to the degree he can. We will get him in his batting-cage routines and his fielding routines, and off we go. I know it is not going to leave us; it is not like we can run from it. We just have to run toward it and deal with it." Cashman admitted that A-Rod's steroid use caught him off-guard, and the GM said, "This is an issue we are going to have to deal with, it is an issue he is going to have to deal with. There is no doubt about that. Ultimately, we will be dealing with it together."

Our View: Cashman could not answer when asked if he would have traded for A-Rod in 2004 if he had known about his steroid use. The Yankees are behind A-Rod, but it remains to be seen if their fans will be.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 2/11, 6:17 PM CT
MLB commissioner Bud Selig hasn't ruled out punishing Alex Rodriguez for his steroid use, according to USA Today. Selig said of Rodriguez's admissions that, "It was against the law, so I would have to think about that. It's very hard. I've got to think about all that kind of stuff."

Our View: Although steroids were against the law at the time, there was no rule in major league baseball banning them. However, Selig has allowed an All-Star game to end in a tie during his tenure, so it's pretty clear that he can try whatever he wants. It will just be a matter of what the players union will let him get away with.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 2/11, 7:50 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez had said in his interview on ESPN that Sports Illustrated reporter Selena Roberts had stalked him and attempted to break into his home in Florida, but police have no records of any incidents, according to the New York Daily News. In the interview, Rodriguez said, "What makes me upset is that Sports Illustrated pays this lady, Selena Roberts, to stalk me. This lady has been thrown out of my apartment in New York City. This lady has five days ago just been thrown out of the University of Miami police for trespassing. And four days ago she tried to break into my house where my girls are up there sleeping, and got cited by the Miami Beach police. I have the paper here."

Our View: Miami Beach police, as well as New Jersey and NYPD officials say there are no records showing any type of wrongdoing on Roberts' part, so exactly what A-Rod was referring to is a mystery.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 2/9, 6:06 PM CT
Reacting to Alex Rodriguez's admission to using performance enhancing drugs while in Texas, Rangers' owner Tom Hicks says he feels betrayed and deceived by the three-time MVP. According to MLB.com, Hicks claims he had numerous personal conversations with A-Rod in which he was assured that he was not on steroids.

Our View: Hicks was the high-bidder for A-Rod back in 2000 when he agreed to pay him a record $252 million dollars over 10 years. A-Rod's admission can be added to a long list of former Rangers - including Rafael Palmeiro, Juan Gonzalez and Jose Canseco - who have been found guilty of using steroids at one point or another in their careers.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 2/9, 1:22 PM CT
In an interview with ESPN's Peter Gammons, Alex Rodriguez has admitted to using performance enhancing drugs from 2001-2003, according to ESPN.

Our View: Well, we can rule out all uncertainty now. Obviously this sullies A-Rod's reputation, and you can bet he will be hearing boos from home and road fans alike throughout the 2009 season. It shouldn't really affect his fantasy value, though, as he has proven to be an elite player even after he supposedly stopped using steriods.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 2/7, 10:34 AM CT
According to four sources who have each independently reported to Sports Illustrated, New York Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two types of anabolic steroids in 2003, the year he won the AL home run title and MVP award while with the Texas Rangers. When approached about the topic at a gym in Miami on Thursday by a SI reporter, Rodriguez responded to questioning by saying, "I'm not saying anything."

Our View: As a result of Major League Baseball's survey testing in 2003, Rodriguez's name appeared on a list of 104 players who tested positive for illegal substances, but, as of that year, no penalties existed for the use of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. The names of the players who tested positive have been kept under seal in California, but sources close to the government's investigation of steroid use in baseball, as well as sources familiar with league testing results, confirmed that Rodriguez is included in that group.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 1/25, 6:22 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was referred to as "A-Fraud" by his Yankees teammates in a new book, "The Yankee Years," by Tom Verducci in which he collaborated with former Yankees' manager Joe Torre, according to MLB.com. The nickname is a play on the commonplace nickname of A-Rod.

Our View: The release of this book could create for even more drama than usual in the Yankees clubhouse, which is notoriously crowded with large egos.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 12/4, 7:52 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez will play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: A-Rod will probably be fine for the 2009 season, as usually only pitchers are of great concern with over-exerting themselves during the spring.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 11/13, 4:39 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was awarded his 10th Silver Slugger award on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: A-Rod was a solid fantasy option again in 2008. He should remain just as valuable to fantasy owners in 2009 after coming off his 11th straight season of 35+ home runs and 100+ RBI.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 9/27, 4:23 PM CT
Saturday's game between the Yankees and the Red Sox has been postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up as the second game of a day/night doubleheader at 7:35 on Sunday.

Our View: The Yankees are going to miss the playoffs for the first time in 13 years.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 9/17, 9:30 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez became the first player ever to tally 35 home runs and 100 RBI in 12 seasons. He hit his 35th home run of the season off of Scott Linebrink in the eighth inning of Wednesday's 5-1 win over the White Sox.

Our View: Well, we guess now we can admit that he's pretty darn good. A-Rod has 11 RBI over his last 12 games, but he's hit just .190 in that time.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 9/14, 4:45 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit his 34th home run and drove in four runs to push his season total to 100 on Sunday.

Our View: This is the 11th straight year that Arod has gone 30-100, which just so happens to be the second longest streak in baseball history (Jimmie Foxx, 1929-40). This also marks the 11th straight year he has gone 30-100 with 100 runs, which is the longest streak in history. He may not have produced the over the top numbers that he has in the past, but his current line of .307-34-100-101-17 is still pretty spectacular.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 9/13, 9:47 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was scratched from the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays due to a stiff neck, but he was able to play in the nightcap. We went 0-for-3 in the 6-5 win, but notched an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Our View: He served in the DH role, with Cody Ransom starting both games at third base. A-Rod has 96 RBI and is closing in on his 11th straight season with at least 100.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 9/13, 12:24 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was scratched from the first game of Saturday's doubleheader with a stiff neck, according to Newsday.

Our View: We'll see if A-Rod can get the neck loosened up and give it a go in the second game.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 9/9, 11:46 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit his 33rd home run Tuesday night against the Angles in the Yanks, 7-1 win.

Our View: You will know what our advice is for A-Rod. Play him in every league and maybe even your football league.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 9/7, 8:27 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 0-for-10 in the series against his former team, the Seattle Mariners, according to the Seattle Times. The paper also notes that he went hitless in just one other series this season, against the Rangers, whom he also played for.

Our View: Rodriguez is still one of the greats in the game, just apparently not against teams he used to play for. Despite his poor weekend, Rodriguez is still hitting over .300 with more than 30 home runs and 90 RBI.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 9/4, 10:00 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez continued his recent tear at the plate by hitting his 32nd home run and on the bases he stole his 17th base in the Yankees 7-5 loss to the Rays.

Our View: Arod has gone deep four times with 11 RBI in his last five games and stands on the brink of a .300-30-100-100-20 season yet again (.315-32-91-96-17). No matter what the media says, this guy is a machine at the plate.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 9/4, 10:17 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez passed Mike Schmidt by hitting his 549th home run on Wednesday, good for 12th all-time, according to New York Newsday. He is now chasing former Yankee Reggie Jackson on the all-time list, though he won't get there this year, as Jackson hit 563 career home runs.

Our View: Rodriguez is already a Hall of Fame player, and it would please a great number of people if he could pass Barry Bonds someday and become the all-time home run king.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 9/3, 10:22 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez has two homers and nine RBI in his last three games and it's only fitting that he was the first player involved in the use of MLB homer run instant replay. Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs, hit the replay shot off Troy Percival.

Our View: Third base umpire Brian Runge goes down in history as being the first umpire involved with instant replay and disappointingly, the home run was clearly fair and the drama was fleeting.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 9/2, 9:52 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-3, scored three runs and hit his 30th home run of the season for the Yankees in their 7-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Our View: Rodriguez has gotten five hits in his last nine at-bats, which fantasy owners have to like considering he hit just .243 in the month of August.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 9/1, 4:30 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez knocked in four runs to up his season total to 85 for the Yankees. Arod also had three hits and scored two runs against the Tigers.

Our View: Arod continues to get beaten down by the fans and certain media types, but he keeps producing numbers at a rate that clearly put him, once again, in the top-10 of all fantasy performers. Arod needs one home run and 15 RBI down the stretch to extend his streak of 30-HR, 100-RBI seasons to 11 which would be the second longest streak in history to Jimmie Foxx's 12 (1929-40).
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 8/31, 3:07 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a home run, but it was not enough for the Yankees, as they were beat by Toronto, 6-2.

Our View: Rodriguez had a tough month, hitting just .243, though he did jack six home runs. Fantasy owners surely wouldn't mind seeing him swipe a few more bags, though, as he has just one since July 23.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 8/28, 10:21 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez has had a lot of success at Yankee Stadium this year, averaging .360 with 39 RBI in 37 games. The three-time MVP will need more of that success today as the Yankees try and avoid a three-game sweep to the hated Red Sox.

Our View: The Yankees will face lefty Jon Lester today and A-Rod has not had the best of times against him. He is a career .125 hitter against the southpaw.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 8/26, 10:38 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez flopped all night when the New York Yankees needed a big hit, according to the Associated Press. The three-time MVP finished 0-for-5 and was booed loudly as New York fell six games behind Boston, which leads the AL wild-card race by a slim margin over Minnesota. Rodriguez also committed an error at third base.

Our View: Rodriguez flied out with two on in the fifth. With the Yankees trailing 7-3 in the seventh, he came up with the bases loaded and grounded into an inning-ending double play against Justin Masterson. That left A-Rod 1-for-10 this season with the bases loaded—0-for-7 when there were less than two outs. A-Rod, who struck out twice, also bounced into a double play that ended the third. He has grounded into nine double plays in his last 19 games.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 8/17, 4:49 PM CT
The Yankees win 15-6 over the Royals today, earning their first series victory over their last 10 tries. As you might expect, Alex Rodriguez was a big part of the equation, going 3-for-3 with two walks and his 28th home run of the season, complete with five RBIs and three runs scored on the day.

Our View: A-Rod is hitting just .200 through August but has hits in eight of his last nine outings. Today's homer was his fourth of the month though he carries just seven RBIs with it.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 8/10, 6:08 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, but it wasn't enough as the Yankees lost to the Angels 4-3.

Our View: Rodriguez was undergoing a brutal month, hitting .161 in August before today's performance put his average above .200. Still, it is A-Rod, and he will continue to crush pitchers in a short while.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 8/9, 6:10 PM CT
The Yanks may have trouble sitting, coming off an 11-4 whooping handed down by the LA Angels today. Both Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi hit homers, but it was for naught as the rest of the cast failed to support the cause. A-Rod went 1-for-3, hitting his 26th homer for one RBI and one run scored on the day. Giambi went 1-for-3 as well, bashing his 23rd homer of the season with one RBI and one run scored of his own.

Our View: A-Rod is slumping, hitting just 5-for-31 thus far in August. However, he touts homers in each of his last two games and is doubtful to spend much time struggling at the plate.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 8/2, 6:14 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-2 win over the Angels in the Bronx.

Our View: He has registered multiple hits in four of his last seven contests, with three homers over the span.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 7/29, 9:39 PM CT
The Yankees and Orioles bashed it out tonight, and despite a late-inning surge, Baltimore prevailed with the 7-6. For the Yanks, it was designated hitter Alex Rodriguez once again serving as the catalyst for the offense, going 2-for-3 with one walk and his 22nd home run of the season, totaling one RBI and two runs scored on the night.

Our View: A-Rod is hitting .325 this month with six homers and 19 RBIs. For any other hitter, that's astounding. For A-Rod, it's another day at the office.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 7/26, 6:08 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez left today's game against the Red Sox after being hit by a pitch. The injury is not thought to be serious, and he was replaced at third base by Wilson Betemit.

Our View: Rodriguez was said to be icing his wrist, and he should be okay, but there is no official word yet.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 7/22, 7:31 PM CT
Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez has joined the William Morse Agency, one of the more powerful talent agencies in the world, hoping to "extend his brand beyond the baseball diamond," according to the Associated Press.

Our View: A-Rod joined up with the powerhouse talent agency in Beverly Hills, Calif., and becomes part of a client list that includes some of the biggest names in sports, entertainment and business. The deal, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, was completed this month and set up by Rodriguez's manager, Guy Oseary, a music business mogul who has worked closely with William Morris. Among the star athletes handled by William Morris are Dwyane Wade, Serena Williams and Kevin Garnett. The agency represents such movie stars as Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 7/21, 9:48 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit a three-run homer in the first inning on Monday and finished the night 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Our View: We still think he should have participated in the Home Run Derby, but Yankees fans will probably take this effort instead.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 7/18, 9:33 PM CT
Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez enjoyed a productive evening at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one walk and his 20th homer of the season, totaling two RBIs and two runs scored for the 7-1 win over Oakland.

Our View: A-Rod is hitting just .261 on the month, though his run production continues to shine (nine RBIs through the 13th). We will see if he can figure out the problems now that the break has come and gone, and tonight shows he might be headed in the right direction.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 7/12, 2:14 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit his 537th career home run Saturday, at the expense of Toronto's Brian Tallet, according to the AP.

Our View: He passed Mickey Mantle into 13th place on the all-time home run list. It was A-Rod's 19th homer of the season.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 7/6, 7:43 PM CT
The Miami Herald reports that Alex Rodriguez's wife, Cynthia, will file for divorce on Monday.

Our View: This almost certainly has to do with his recent linking to Madonna. It will be interesting to see if the off-the-field drama will affect his numbers in the second half. His immediate response was taking Tim Wakefield deep in the second inning for his 18th home run and 50th RBI of the season.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 7/4, 6:03 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Friday's tough 6-4 loss to the Red Sox at home. He hit a single and a double, his 18th of the season.

Our View: A-Rod raised his average to .319 over 67 games, with 49 RBI.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 7/3, 7:58 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez has split from his wife of nearly six years, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: It will be interesting to see if this affects A-Rod in any way, although if last night's game was any indication, it won't. Rodriguez hit his 17th home run of the season against the Rangers.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 7/2, 10:04 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez seems to have found inspiration from his meeting earlier this week with Madonna, going 2-for-3 with two walks and his 17th homer of the season this evening as the Yanks put the Rangers to bed, 18-7. A-Rod totaled three RBIs and four runs scored on the night.

Our View: A-Rod was inspired before the Material Girl turned him on to the Kabala, hitting .366 through June with nine home runs and 23 RBIs. He's getting off to a strong start this month as well. Shocker.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 7/1, 1:10 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez will not participate in the All-Star game's annual Home Run Derby, declining an invitation, according to MLB.com. Rodriguez cited his obligation to the Yankees.

Our View: Although the Home Run Derby will not see one of the game's most prolific sluggers participate, Yankees fans and fantasy owners are probably not too upset with his decision, as he eliminates a chance of injury. He is having a fabulous June, hitting .366 with nine home runs.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 6/27, 5:22 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the Yankees loss to the Mets. He is now hitting nearly .400 for the month of June.

Our View: There have only been three games this month A-Rod has not gotten hits in, and he has hit half of his 14 home runs during June. Only sit him down if you are trying to lose your fantasy baseball league.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 6/18, 11:47 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez homered for the fourth straight game and the New York Yankees beat the San Diego Padres 8-5 Wednesday night. When A-Rod homers they seem to mean a little more these days. Not only is the Yankee third baseman on a streak, the Yanks won their sixth straight game improving to 39-33.

Our View: Even though Rodriguez missed 21 games, he still has 14 home runs, 40 RBI, 38 runs and has stolen seven bases. The Yankees are 19-9 since Rodriguez came off the disabled list May 20.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 6/15, 6:25 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday's 13-0 win over Houston.

Our View: A-Rod has now homered in back-to-back games, with five of his 12 blasts coming in June. He also racked up 16 RBI in the month so far.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 6/14, 9:39 PM CT
The Yankees traveled to Houston and insured their bats were on-hand as well, winning 8-4 in the series opener. The venerable third baseman Alex Rodriguez led the way, going 2-for-3 with his 11th home run of the season and two walks, touting one RBI and three runs scored on the night.

Our View: A-Rod was hitting .400 for the month of June coming in. This was his fourth home run, his 13th RBI, and his 12th run scored of the month, and we are just half way there.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 6/9, 3:55 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-4 and crushed a two-run homer in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Royals.

Our View: A-Rod has 10 homers and 31 RBI over 44 games, and raised his average a few points to .317. He recorded two hits in four straight games and two RBI in three straight. That was also the fifth time out of nine games in June that he reached two RBI.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 6/8, 4:39 PM CT
Yankee first baseman Alex Rodriguez had the offense working in today's 6-3 win over the Royals, going 2-for-2 with two walks at the dish, hitting his 15th double of the season to total two RBIs on the day.

Our View: After injury and struggles in May, A-Rod has gotten back on track, hitting .429 through the month of June thus far with eight RBIs, including six in his last four games.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 6/7, 4:26 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez had two hits, including his ninth home run of the year, on Saturday as he also scored twice and had two RBI against the Royals.

Our View: Arod has had a rough go of it due to injury in the early going, but he is still working at a pace of about 35 HR and 110 RBI for 162 games. Even with his missed time, he could still reach those totals this season.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 6/2, 9:30 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez got the Yankees on the board early on Monday with a two-run homer in the first inning. He added a single, double, and a second run later in the game. Rodriguez pushed his average to .300.

Our View: A-Rod has been doing a bit of everything since coming off the DL on May 20, and fantasy owners should be pleased with his recent play.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 5/30, 10:50 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's close 6-5 win over the Twins. Two of his hits went for doubles. Bobby Abreu hit two triples tonight as well, with a stolen base.

Our View: A-Rod was only 1-for-11 over his previous three games in this series against Baltimore, but came through in the closer.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/27, 11:28 PM CT
Four of the big names posted home runs for the Yankees this evening, but Baltimore prevailed after 11 innings and put the loss on New York. DH Jason Giambi, outfielders Bobby Abreu and Johnny Damon, and third baseman Alex Rodriguez all hit home runs, but it was all for naught as the effort falls short.

Our View: A-Rod left a total of four men on-base in the match, but he has hit three homer in his last five games against the Orioles.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/20, 10:17 PM CT
After missing three weeks with a strained right quadriceps, Alex Rodriguez was back in action on Tuesday night against the Orioles. A-Rod was in the cleanup spot and started at third base. The MVP reached on an error in the second inning, grounded out in the fourth and hit a two-run homer in the sixth off Cabrera to make it 10-2.

Our View: Rodriguez didn't miss a beat hitting hitting his fifth home run in 94 at-bats.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/20, 6:26 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez, who was activated from the disabled list today, is starting at third base and hitting cleanup against the Orioles.

Our View: A-Rod missed the teams last 17 games.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/20, 3:55 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez has been officially activated from the DL, according to the AP. A-Rod returns to the Yankees after missing 17 games with a strained right quadriceps muscle. The Yankees went 6-11 in his absence, losing five of its last six games to fall to 20-24 for the season. Pitcher Chris Britton has been optioned to Triple-A Scranton to make room on the roster.

Our View: He said his ailing quad feels good and is pleased with his swing following his rehab stint. The Yankees will battle the Orioles in the Bronx tonight, and he should be penciled back into your lineups.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/20, 11:06 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez is set to return to the Yankees' lineup tonight when they battle the Orioles, according to MyPinstripes.com.

Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 5/19, 2:02 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez had two hits in his final rehabilitation assignment Monday in his return from a strained right quadriceps, notes the NY Daily News, and will be back in the Bombers' lineup Tuesday night when they host Baltimore at Yankee Stadium. "I'm happy," said A-Rod, who has been on the disabled list since April 30 "I'm excited to get back into Yankee Stadium and playing baseball. "It's where I belong."

Our View: Rodriguez played in an extended spring training game against minor leaguers from the Philadelphia Phillies and went 2-for-6.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 5/19, 9:11 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez went through an extensive workout on Sunday with live batting practice. He and the coaching staff simulated in-game at bats. If there are no setbacks after the strenuous workout, he's expected to rejoin the team on Tuesday when the Yankees play the Orioles, this according to the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball broadcast.

Our View: It appears safe to insert A-Rod into Fantasy Week 8 starting lineups.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 5/18, 12:32 PM CT
New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is looking at Tuesday as the date of return to action, according to SLAM Sports.

Our View: Rodriguez has been out since April 28th with a strained right quad and is doing well in his work to get healthy. The team reports he hit a grand slam to center field in a simulated game that brought him 15 at-bats. He is scheduled to play in an extended spring training game on Monday against minor leaguers from Philadelphia. If that goes well, he'll be back on the field later this week.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 5/17, 11:43 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a homer off top pitching prospect David Price over five at-bats in extended spring training, according to the NY Daily News. A-Rod also fielded three grounders at third base. He struck out twice, but this was a good day for him in his rehab from his strained right quad.

Our View: A-Rod will play in a simulated game as a DH on Sunday, then play a third and likely final extended spring game on Monday. He is still on track to rejoin the Yankees on Tuesday.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 5/15, 5:18 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez (quadriceps) will return to action on Saturday to play the first of three scheduled games in extended spring training, according to the Associated Press. “We have one more day tomorrow to see how my body is going to react,” Rodriguez said. “Saturday, Sunday, Monday, play, and then hopefully tee it up Tuesday.”

Our View: The Yankees have sorely missed the big fella, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of fantasy gamers who selected him first overall. Once active, get Arod back in your lineup immediately.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 5/15, 1:43 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is expected to run the bases at Tropicana Field before today's game, in what could likely be the final test before playing in rehab games, according to Newsday. A-Rod has been on the DL since April 30 due to a strained right quad. Manager Joe Girardi said, "The plan is to have him work out in front of us. I want to see it with my two eyeballs. You have to see where he's not favoring or he's not slower. I want to see him run at full speed."

Our View: The biggest concern is whether Rodriguez will have the quick burst of speed on the first two steps without reinjuring the quadriceps.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/13, 12:09 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is hoping to rejoin the Yankees early next week, according to the AP. A-Rod said, "We’re aiming for next Tuesday at home. Everyday it’s much better. You’ve got to be smart, so it’s a good way to go."

Our View: Rodriguez hasn’t played since April 28 due to a strained right quad, and is eligible to come off the 15-day DL Thursday. He took batting practice, fielded grounders and ran for about six minutes in the outfield Tuesday.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 5/12, 6:25 PM CT
The Journal News reports that the MRI taken today on Alex Rodriguez revealed progress. But not enough to start playing in rehab games as was the hope among the Yankee faithful. The report notes that Joe Girardi told the media that Rodriguez will not be activated this week, meaning he’s out for the Mets series. “We can’t afford to have him come back for two days then lose him for six weeks,” Girardi said. “We want to have him fully healed.”

Our View: A-Rod has played in only 24 games this year. He has registered only 91 at-bats, four home runs, 11 RBI and 14 runs scored. The third baseman had these numbers in the first two weeks of April last year.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 5/10, 7:17 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez will undergo an MRI on his strained right quad muscle on Monday, according to the NY Daily News. If the MRI shows the Grade 2 strain in Rodriguez's quad has healed sufficiently, he could play in extended spring training games on Tuesday and/or Wednesday, lining up a Thursday return from the DL. Manager Joe Girardi said, "We'll have to talk to the doctor and see where they think he's at. He has to feel comfortable and we have to feel comfortable with his leg before we bring him back."

Our View: A-Rod could rejoin the team late next week (barring a setback), when the Yankees battle the Mets in the Bronx.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 5/9, 1:48 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez took 57 swings in batting practice and fielded 31 grounders at third base during his first injury rehab workout on Friday at the Yankees' minor league complex, according to the AP. A-Rod hit several long homers, including a pair that went over the center-field back drop. He also ran in the outfield, and said his session went good.

Our View: He could rejoin the team late next week, when the Yankees battle the Mets in the Bronx.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 5/9, 10:40 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez isn't expected to get a second MRI on his strained right quad until Tuesday, according to the NY Daily News. Rodriguez could get the MRI on Tuesday, which might clear him to play in extended spring training games on Wednesday and Thursday in Tampa Bay. A-Rod worked out for a second straight day on Thursday, taking grounders at third base and taking batting practice. He also did several sprints in the outfield, reporting no problems with his injured leg. Team-mate Johnny Damon said, "We're expecting to get Alex back soon. Morgan Ensberg and Wilson Betemit have filled in nicely, but Alex very well could be the best player we've ever seen. Hopefully he goes down to Tampa and gets ready."

Our View: Since Rodriguez wants to play in two rehab games, that would push his return until at least a week from today, when the Yankees start a three-game set at home against the Mets.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 5/8, 10:15 AM CT
It appears to be unlikely that Alex Rodriguez will be able to return from the DL when he eligible next Thursday, according to the NY Daily News. Rodriguez said he felt no pain in his strained right quadriceps after a full pregame workout on Wednesday, and added that he couldn't wait to get back in the lineup. But it was determined that Rodriguez will need another MRI to be cleared to begin rehab games in Tampa. The team wants to see that the tearing in the muscle has healed enough for him to go all-out in a rehab assignment. He further injured it trying to come back too quickly last month. Manager Joe Girardi said, "It's less likely that he'd be back when he's eligible. There's nothing that's happened, but they want to make sure on the MRI that it's healed enough for him to take the next step. It's always a little bit different when the intensity has to be turned up, when you have to make the quick break and everything isn't calculated. But it is a good sign what he did today."

Our View: Rodriguez's rehab assignment will be in extended spring training games on Tuesday at the earliest. The team did not insist that A-Rod do the rehab assignment, and he asked to do it. Morgan Ensberg and Wilson Betemit will platoon at third base until he returns.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/6, 4:34 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez will begin doing some physical activity on Wednesday and still hopes to return from the DL once his 15 days are up, the New York Daily News reports. He has been out since April 28 due to a Grade-2 strain of his right quad.

Our View: We'll have a better sense for A-Rod's return date once he tests his quad and sees how it reacts. He may need longer than the minimum period. Morgan Ensberg and Wilson Betemit will fill in at third while Alex remains out.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/30, 7:21 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is on the 15 day DL with a his right quadriceps injury, but he and the team believe he will be ready to go once that time frame has passed, according to MLB.com. "None of us know exactly, but my thought is 15 days," manager Joe Girardi said. "I believe that he'll be back in 15 days."

Our View: The team used the roster spot to call up Chris Britton to help out a taxed bullpen, but that move could be temporary. Morgan Ensberg and Alberto Gonzalez will fill in.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/29, 10:44 PM CT
The Yankees placed Alex Rodriguez on the DL Tuesday after an MRI revealed a Grade 2 strain of his right quadriceps, according to the AP. The Yankees haven't announced a corresponding move yet.

Our View: Morgan Ensberg should get the majority of playing time for the Yanks at third while A-Rod is out. It's not clear how much time the superstar will miss.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/29, 7:24 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was sent for an MRI exam on his strained right quadriceps Tuesday, according to the AP. The third baseman was removed for a pinch hitter in the eighth inning of Monday's game. “It might be two days, but I’m not under the impression that it’s going to be long,” manager Joe Girardi said.

Our View: It sounds like A-Rod owners will get their stud back later in the week. We'll keep you posted on the MRI results.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/29, 10:58 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez is likely headed back to the bench after aggravating his strained right quadriceps, according to the AP. Following Monday's win over Cleveland, Rodriguez told the team’s web site that there was “no way” he could play Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series against the Tigers. He said, "The key for me now is to get healthy. There’s a lot of baseball to be played this year. When I get back out there, I want to be close to 100 percent." Manager Joe Girardi added, "There have been times when you see him run and you see him pull up a little bit. We’re trying to tell him to be smart."

Our View: Morgan Ensberg should continue to fill in while A-Rod is out. The team did not state how long A-Rod may sit out this time, which makes it more frustrating for fantasy owners right now.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 4/28, 9:25 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez, still not fully recovered from a quad strain, was replaced by pinch-hitter Johnny Damon in the eighth inning of Monday night's 5-2 win over the Indians.

Our View: His removal from the game didn't appear to be because he was hit by a pitch. With left-hander Aaron Laffey in the clubhouse, and the Yanks holding a two-run lead, the team had more flexibility with their bench players.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 4/26, 2:23 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is serving as the Yankees' DH against the Indians today, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Morgan Ensberg is covering third base. A-Rod is hitting fourth in the lineup.

Our View: A-Rod isn't going to run a whole lot while he continues to recover from his strained quad, but he can still make an impact with his bat.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 4/25, 10:40 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez returned to New York's lineup in Friday's 6-4 loss to Cleveland. A-Rod went 0-for-4 in the game.

Our View: The Yankees third baseman missed three games with a strained quadriceps.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 4/25, 4:38 PM CT
As expected, Alex Rodriguez is in Friday's starting lineup and playing third base, this according to the New York Post.

Our View: This shouldn't come as a surprise. The Yankees need to take advantage of the struggling teams they face on their current road trip, and having their best hitter in the lineup is the best way to accomplish this.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 4/25, 3:59 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez will return to his spot at third base tonight against Cleveland, according to the NY Post. A-Rod ran lightly in the Progressive Field outfield while monitored by Manager Joe Girardi. Afterward, Girardi said, "He is playing third base." He will bat fourth in the lineup as well.

Our View: A-Rod is back, and should be penciled into your lineups. He might not run at full speed, but he could still make an impact with his bat.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 4/25, 10:15 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez has done some light hitting, but he said he has not done any running to test his ailing quad, according to the NY Daily News. A-Rod added, "The big test will be running. I'm optimistic that it won't be anything past this weekend." Manager Joe Girardi commented that he has thought about using A-Rod as a DH before putting him back at third base, though he still has to see Rodriguez run and test himself before he plays him at all this weekend. Girardi commented, "You can't predict how his leg is going to react. The big thing is we have to make sure he doesn't re-injure it, because if he reinjures it, it's probably going to be worse."

Our View: Morgan Ensberg will cover third base until A-Rod is ready to come back, and there really is no urgency to bring his back before he is ready as the Yankees went 2-1 in their three-game set against the first place White Sox. We will continue to update his status.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 4/24, 1:18 PM CT
Manager Joe Girardi said that he would be shocked if Alex Rodriguez returned to action tonight against the White Sox, according to the NY Daily News. He will rejoin the team in Chicago tonight, but is not expected to actually play until Friday, at the earliest. A-Rod is still nursing his strained quad, but Girardi added, "If he comes in and says he's ready, believe me, I'm putting his name in there. You go day-to-day. He's going to have to run and test it, and when he comes back, he's going to have to be a little cautious like Jeter was."

Our View: Assume he won't play, and adjust your lineups accordingly. The Yankees are doing fine without him, as they won both of their games against the White Sox in the series.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/23, 7:54 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, the Yankees report 3B Alex Rodriguez is not likely to see any action on the field of play until this coming weekend, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Our View: A-Rod is scheduled to join the team in Chicago on Thursday but will not be playing until the Yanks meet with the Cleveland Indians over the weekend. Rodriguez has battled with a strained quadricep and the team would rather play safe than rush him back into action.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/23, 11:42 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez will return to the Yankees' lineup on Thursday, according to MLB.com. He was away from the team to welcome the birth of his second child at home in Miami.

Our View: He will return for the finale of the three-game set against the White Sox in Chicago. The Yankees scored nine runs without him in a winning effort on Tuesday, but Morgan Ensberg struggled defensively while covering third base, while letting a few hits get by that A-Rod would have routinely converted for outs.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/22, 5:20 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez and Cynthia welcomed a daughter into the world on Monday night. "We are thrilled with the birth of our second daughter and the blessing of having two beautiful, healthy daughters in our lives," Rodriguez tells MLB.com. The third baseman will not play on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Our View: Previous reports suggested A-Rod was out due to a sore quad, but now we know the real reason. Congrats Alex.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/22, 4:03 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez will not start on Tuesday night due to a strained right quad, the AP reports. Morgan Ensberg will take his place at third, and Rodriguez remains day-to-day.

Our View: Fantasy owners in daily lineups should have been prepared for this news. We'll continue to monitor his status and provide updates.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/22, 1:11 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez is expected to rejoin the Yankees in Chicago today, according to the AP. A-Rod is currently listed as day-to-day due to his quad ailment, and he returned to New York on Monday to receive treatment and is scheduled to be further evaluated in Chicago on Tuesday, when the Yankees start a three-game series against the White Sox. However, Rodriguez could also head to Miami at any time as his wife is expected to deliver the couple’s second child this week. The team is hopeful he won't land on the DL.

Our View: Morgan Ensberg would cover third base in his place if needed. Ensberg displays good power, and could post solid numbers in hitter friendly US Cellular Field over the next couple of days if given the AB.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/22, 9:33 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez is unlikely to play against the White Sox tonight, according to the NY Daily News. He is nursing a strained right quad, and the injury is similar to the one sustained by shortstop Derek Jeter. GM Brian Cashman stated, "Alex is a quick healer, though, so we'll have to wait and see. We'll evaluate on a day-to-day basis and see where he's at. I'd like to have him in there, but I need him healthy. When these things happen, your biggest concern is making sure you handle it properly and don't push it." Cashman added that he couldn't rule out a trip to the DL, but but he hopes to have a better idea on a time frame later today.

Our View: Morgan Ensberg would likely cover third base if A-Rod ultimately cannot go. We will keep you posted on his status.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 4/21, 6:15 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez has a mild strain in his right quadriceps muscle and he will rejoin the Yankees on Tuesday in Chicago though it is not certain when he will return to the starting lineup, this according to the AP.

Our View: Arod should be back in the lineup soon since it certainly doesn't sound like anyone is overly concerned after the positive medical reports Arod has received.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 4/20, 2:42 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was forced out of action against Baltimore today due to an apparent leg injury, according to the AP. A-Rod appeared to hurt his right hamstring while running out a grounder in the sixth inning. More details should be revealed soon.

Our View: Morgan Ensberg would likely fill in at third base if A-Rod is to miss any time.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 4/20, 1:16 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez will spend Monday with his wife, who is due to deliver the couple's second child by the end of the week, according to MLB.com. Their three-game road series against the White Sox starts on Tuesday.

Our View: Morgan Ensberg would likely fill his spot at third base, if needed.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesMonday 4/14, 8:08 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez hit his 521st career homer on Monday night. The long ball ties him with Ted Williams and Willie McCovey for 15th place on the all-time list.

Our View: If his head wasn't frozen right now, Williams would probably be cursing.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 4/13, 10:38 AM CT
It sounds like the Yankees will be free and clear of gloom and doom in their new stadium, thanks to loyal fans on the stadium’s construction crew, according to ESPN.com. Earlier this week a fellow construction worker well known as a fan of the Boston Red Sox was rumored to have buried a Red Sox jersey in the concrete foundation of the new stadium. Other workers loyal to the pinstripes found said jersey and spent five hours removing the jersey with a jackhammer.

Our View: “I hope his co-workers kick the (expletive) out of him,” said Yankee co-chairperson Hal Steinbrenner.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 4/10, 11:06 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went deep in the Yankees 6-1 win over Kansas City on Thursday night. A-Rod hit his home run off Hideo Nomo, who replaced Bale for his first appearance in the majors since July 15, 2005, while with Tampa Bay. Even if the Royals played well enough to sweep the Evil Empire, they deserved to lose tonight based solely on the fact they decided to add Nomo, instead of a deserving young arm in their farm system, to the 25-man roster.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/8, 12:37 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez could play shortstop if Derek Jeter ultimately needs to go on the DL with his quad injury, according to the NY Post. Yankees' GM Brian Casman stated (when asked about A-Rod potentially playing shortstop), "Oh, yeah. We talked about that this winter, if time Jeter would miss would be extensive. It wouldn't be a short-term thing. Derek has a light quad strain, but it's a quad strain nonetheless. We are in no man's land. We aren't sure it's a (disabled list situation) or a three-, four- or five-day thing. Will it be better in five to seven days? Could it be three or four? Or is it seven or eight? We are taking it one day at a time. We could option somebody and bring Alberto Gonzalez. Or go with what we've got. We haven't decided one way or another yet." Wilson Betemit replaced Jeter at shortstop on Monday, and Morgan Ensberg could fill in at third base, if A-Rod is used at shortstop, which he played during his days in Seattle.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/8, 11:57 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez has owned Brian Bannister, today's starting pitcher for the Royals, according to MLB.com. A-Rod has blasted a home run in both of his career at-bats against Bannister. He only has one homer over the first seven games of 2008, and he has a good chance to add to his total today.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/2, 9:50 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-4 in New York's 2-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays this evening, hitting his first home run of the year off A.J. Burnett. A-Rod finished with two RBIs, two strike outs, and two men left on base, bringing his batting average to .429 on the season.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/2, 8:22 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez was not distracted by Jose Canseco's steroid claims, as he went 2-for-3 with an RBI against Toronto in the Yankees' season opener on Tuesday, while drawing one walk. The steroid news won't likely go away for a while, so it is encouraging to see A-Rod have a good opening night and keep his mind on his job.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/1, 11:47 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez is being cornered by Jose Canseco and his steroid allegations, according to the AP. Canseco stated that if A-Rod threatens to sue or goes on television to attack his credibility, he will respond with "MAX," which is a Canadian steroid supplier that he claims A-Rod had relations with in the late 1990's. Canseco added, "I've got the ace in the hole. And he knows it. So there's no way that he's going to fight me. He's trying to make it go away."
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 3/25, 4:03 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez has been named in a upcoming book about steroids, according to AZCentral.com. Jose Canseco states in his new book that he introduced Alex Rodriguez to a steroids distributor, and that A-Rod pursued Canseco's wife, according to the web site of freelance writer Joe Lavin. He also states that Canseco claimed he didn't inject Rodriguez but introduced him to a known supplier of steroids. Lavin also remarked, "Canseco claims that A-Rod was trying to sleep with Canseco's wife." A-Rod countered by saying, "I really, absolutely, have no reaction (to the steroids claim)." Lavin additionally claims on the web site that he obtained the book, "Vindicated: Big Names, Big Liars, and The Battle to Save Baseball," on Monday from a bookstore in Cambridge. The book is scheduled to be released on April 1.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 3/7, 2:16 PM CT
A sore shoulder will limit Alex Rodriguez to DH duties until early next week, according to the AP. "Just a little bit," Rodriguez said. "I certainly wouldn’t miss a game during the regular season, or have to DH. But I think right now, it’s just being smart." No problem with being smart in early March. A-Rod was in the lineup Friday as the DH, so it really doesn't appear to be any concern.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 2/20, 7:38 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was just kidding when he stated earlier today that he was "tested 9-to-10 times" last year as part of baseball's stricter drug policy. "My quote from earlier today was taken literally. I was not tested nine or 10 times last year. I was just using exaggeration to make a point," Rodriguez said in a statement through Yankees spokesman Jason Zillo, according to the AP. My intent was simply to shed light on the fact that the current program being implemented is working, and a reason for that is through frequent testing. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused." We had a feeling this was the case, but now we do have some closure on this short-lived issue.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 2/20, 5:48 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was tested for performance-enhancing drugs a boatload of times during his monster 2007 season, the slugger told the AP. "Last year, I got tested 9-to-10 times," Rodriguez said. "We have a very, very strict policy, and I think the game is making tremendous strides." Under baseball's drug-testing rules, players are tested at least twice, and there also are 600 additional random tests throughout the major leagues. If A-Rod wasn't exaggerating about the amount of tests, he was either selected repeatedly for the random tests, or he tested positive for a stimulant in 2006, which would have subjected him to six additional unannounced tests over the following year. Initial positive tests for stimulants are not subject to discipline and are not announced. We're betting A-Rod was just embellishing the number of tests he took, but he'll probably face more questioning on the matter.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 11/15, 10:49 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees have agreed to the outline of a $275 million, 10-year contract, a deal that potentially would allow him to earn millions more if he sets the career home-run record, the AP reports. "The meeting was a final get-together," Yankees senior vice president Hank Steinbrenner said. "He wanted to make sure myself and my brother knew that he was sincere and serious." The Yankees still must draft the agreement with Rodriguez's agent, Scott Boras. Asked whether the only remaining details were putting the deal on paper, Steinbrenner responded: "pretty much so."
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 11/15, 10:57 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez is discussing a deal with the Yankees that would net him $275 million over 10 years, according to Newsday. There were reports that the Yankees would only meet with A-Rod if agent Scott Boras wasn't present, but the Players Union wouldn't allow that, and the Yanks have since stated they're willing to work with Boras. Initially, it appeared to be longshot that Rodriguez would return to the Yankees; now it's a longshot that he doesn't.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 11/14, 10:45 AM CT
Perhaps Alex Rodriguez's days in the Bronx aren't over after all. The New York Daily News reports that A-Rod and the Yankees have been discussing a deal over the past couple of days. The catch, however, is that Scott Boras isn't involved. "We will not negotiate with Scott Boras," a Yankees source said. "He cannot be in the room." Apparently, the Yankees are looking to sign the slugger to a below-market contract that would make up for the $21 million from the Rangers that was lost when A-Rod opted out of his contract. Rodriguez is expected to be meeting with Hank and Hal Steinbrenner directly. It's not surprising that the Yanks have realized they're simply not as good without Rodriguez, but it still seems to be a longshot that he would sign a below-market deal.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 11/7, 10:25 AM CT
GM Brian Cashman has announced the Yankees will offer arbitration to Alex Rodriguez, according to Newsday. If A-Rod accepted, he would be contractually bound to the Yankees for 2008. Obviously, there's very little chance of the slugger accepting, but in doing this, the Yanks ensure that they'll get compensatory draft picks from whichever team signs him.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 11/1, 10:27 PM CT
The Giants are thought to be one of the team's that will pursue Alex Rodriguez this winter. However, GM Brian Sabean indicated the club's chances of acquiring the All-Star would be "a reach," according to the AP. "I don't even know that they know what their expectations are," Sabean said of A-Rod and agent Scott Boras. "You have to do due diligence. I think that's the best way to put it: kick the tires on anything, including him. In baseball, almost anything is possible. How probable something like that would be would be a reach for me for the reasons you said. It can literally hamstring what you want to do for quite a while." The Giants do need to add some pop to their lineup after the departure of Barry Bonds, but bringing in A-Rod may not be the wisest investment - although, let's be honest, spending $30 million per year on one player won't be a wise investment for any team.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 10/31, 11:33 AM CT
Angels owner Art Moreno maintains that he doesn't envision paying any one player $20 million next year, but GM Tony Reagins has already spoken with Scott Boras about Alex Rodriguez, and Moreno and Boras plan to meet sometime soon, according to the LA Times. "You have to look at the long-term picture," Reagins said. "When you make that type of investment, you want to make sure you can absorb it. If it makes sense, you pursue it." Despite Moreno's claims, the Angels are clearly interested in the slugger, and they figure to be heavily in the running when A-Rod hits the open market.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 10/30, 11:18 AM CT
Could Alex Rodriguez be reunited with his first manager, Lou Pinella, in Chicago? "His name hasn't ever come up," Piniella told the Chicago Sun-Times. "I don't think there's anything there." Despite Pinella's comments, the club did not rule out the possibility of pursuing A-Rod. "[Rodriguez] would be a fit anywhere," Piniella went on to say. "I think he would be an asset on any team. We have Ramirez at third base. We signed [Alfonso] Soriano last year to a big contract. Our payroll seems like it's headed up some. But I don't know about that much." With Aramis Ramirez manning the hot corner, A-Rod would have to move back to shortstop.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSunday 10/28, 10:21 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez has opted out of his 10-year, $252 million contract with the Yankees, making him elgible to become a free agent, according to the AP. He loses the final $72 million in guaranteed salary in the contract. "Alex's decision was one based on not knowing what his closer, his catcher and one of his statured pitchers was going to do," agent Scott Boras said. "He really didn't want to make any decisions until he knew what they were going." The Yankees have stated they won't pursue A-Rod in free agency if he opted out, so it appears his career in New York is over. Rodriguez will be seeking a contract that nets him at least $30 million per year over 8-10 years.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 10/18, 11:11 AM CT
Yankees GM Brian Cashman reiterated Wednesday that if Alex Rodriguez opts out of his contract, the Yanks will not pursue him in free agency. "Yes, I can reaffirm that," Cashman said in the New York Times. "If Alex Rodriguez opts out of his contract, we will not participate in his free agency. That is accurate and that is definitive." The reason for the Yankees' stance is that they would lose the $30 million the Texas Rangers would pay of the $91 million Rodriguez can make for 2008-2010. A-Rod's agent, Scott Boras, said last week that his client is likely to opt out of his deal.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 10/10, 5:53 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez is likely to opt out of the final three years of his current contract, his agent Scott Boras told the AP Tuesday. New York likely will approach Boras with an extension offer in the next few weeks -- Rodriguez must make his decision whether to opt out by the 10th day after the World Series ends. It's believed that the Yankees will cut off negotiations with Rodriguez if they can't get a deal done in this window.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 10/5, 9:53 PM CT
Yankees superstar third baseman Alex Rodriguez can’t seem to get things going in October. A-Rod went 0-4 Friday night against the Indians bringing his hitless streak to 18 postseason at-bats, dating to last season. Rodriguez struck out three times including once in the ninth inning with the go-ahead run on base.

Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has another fantastic evening as the Yanks lose to the Orioles. A-Rod went 3-5 with a HR, 4 RBI, and a walk.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 9/5, 9:47 PM CT
Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez talked his way into the lineup Wednesday, one day after suffering a sprained right ankle, then proceeded to hit two home runs in one inning as the designated hitter to lead the team to victory over the Mariners.

Our View: A-Rod’s season-long ride through the stratosphere seems to be rolling right along. It appears he must be kept in the lineup while he battles through the ankle injury.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 9/5, 1:18 PM CT
Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez underwent x-rays on the ankle he injured during Tuesday’s game and they came back negative. "It's a little sore right now," Rodriguez s told the New York Daily News. "I'll see how I feel in the morning. I took some X-rays and they were negative. You never know. I'll see how it is when I wake up in the morning. It's swollen a little bit now." Rodriguez may rest the ankle on Wednesday, but fantasy owners can safely expect him to play this weekend at the Royals.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesWednesday 8/8, 7:52 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was held out of Wednesday's game due to sore right calf. "It doesn't seem to be anything the trainers are concerned about," manager Joe Torre told the AP. A-Rod was plunked by Josh Towers on Tuesday, presumably in response to distracting Howie Clark while running the bases on a pop-up back in May. The sore muscle combined with playing on the hard turf in Toronto led Torre to hold A-Rod out. He's expected to play again soon.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesSaturday 8/4, 12:49 PM CT
At 32 years old, Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player in baseball history to hit his 500th home run on Saturday against the Royals, according to the AP. The homer came off Kyle Davies in the first inning. He now has 36 dingers on the season.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 7/12, 11:06 AM CT
Although the Yankees have expressed interest in discussing a contract extension with Alex Rodriguez , but A-Rod’s agent, Scott Boras, doesn’t think his client will want to. "We are not going to be negotiating during the season," Boras told the New York Post. "This is Alex's decision. This has been his policy, and I fully expect this to continue to be his policy." Rodriguez’s time in New York has been rocky, but if the Yankees come through with the highest offer, expect Alex to stay put. Boras is asking for $30 million a year.

Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesFriday 7/6, 9:30 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez returned to the starting lineup on Friday night, though his status for next week's All-Star game remained uncertain, according to the AP. He missed his first game of the season Thursday because of a strained left hamstring. An MRI exam came back normal.

Alex Rodriguez should return very soon. The Associated Press is reporting an MRI on his injured left hamstring came back negative and he may be back in the lineup as soon as Friday. Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesThursday 7/5, 11:11 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez told the New York Daily News that his hamstring is still bothering him and he may need to head to the disabled list. "I'm going to have to sit down with Joe [Torre] and evaluate what we want to do here coming into the break," Rodriguez said. "I just want to be smart and have some precaution with it." Rodriguez was not in the lineup on Thursday against the Twins.
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, New York YankeesTuesday 7/3, 5:31 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez was back in the lineup Tuesday, one day after leaving with a strained left hamstring. A-Rod was hurt when he tripped over first baseman Justin Morneau's ankle while beating out a potential double play, according to the AP. We will keep a close eye on him, but this is good news to A-Rod owners who feared the slugger may have to sit out awhile.

Alex Rodriguez left in the sixth inning Monday night because of a strained left hamstring, according to the AP. He suffered the injury while running out a fielder's choice grounder to third base. Alex Rodriguez was pulled from Saturday's game in the eighth inning after being hit on his left elbow by a pitch, according to the New York Daily News. "We'll see," Rodriguez said. "I hope so."

Lou Piniella, the new manager of the Cubs, has stated that he expects his new team to strongly pursue Alex Rodriguez over the offseason, according to ESPN.com. The Yankees have stated that they have no intention of trading A-Rod, but of course, that doesn't mean they wouldn't deal him if they got the right offer. Rodriguez has a no-trade clause and could veto any deal, but he does have a close relationship with Piniella, so he may be willing to waive it to go to the Windy City.
