John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 9/30, 8:05 PM CT
John Lannan allowed just two earned runs in seven innings on Wednesday night, taking a no-decision as the Nats rallied for a 7-4 win over the Mets at home.

Our View: Lannan has now gone seven innings in three straight starts. If tonight was his last start of the season, he went 9-13 with a 3.88 ERA in 33 2009 starts.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsFriday 9/25, 8:45 PM CT
John Lannan pitched well in tonight's 4-1 loss to the Braves at Nationals Park, as he only allowed two runs (none earned) on six hits over seven innings. He had three walks with six strikeouts.

Our View: Lannan was dealt his 13th loss due to poor run support, and only notched one win over his last nine starts.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSaturday 9/19, 3:18 PM CT
John Lannan was hit with the loss on Saturday as Washington fell to the Mets 3-2. Lannan went seven innings and allowed three runs on five hits while walking one and striking out three.

Our View: Lannan is 9-12 on the season, but he has been much better than his record would indicate. His 4.07 ERA is very respectable, but wins can be tough to come by when you play for the Nats.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 9/13, 8:33 PM CT
John Lannan held the Marlins to one run on six hits and a walk over five innings on Sunday. He fanned three and earned his ninth win of the season with the 7-2 drubbing.

Our View: It looked like the Nats had a promising hurler in Lannan until August hit and he had a 6.92 ERA for the month. He has yet to really put it together since then, but Sunday's effort was a start.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 9/8, 9:14 PM CT
John Lannan allowed four earned runs in 6.2 innings on Tuesday night, falling to 8-11, as the Nations lost 5-3 to the Phillies at home.

Our View: Lannan has now failed to win in six straight starts, with his last victory coming on August 5. He is 0-3 with a 7.67 ERA during that span.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 9/2, 5:44 PM CT
John Lannan got knocked around by the light-hitting Padres on Wednesday. He allowed five runs on six hits and four walks over just five innings in a 7-0 loss.

Our View: Lannan dropped to 8-10 on the season and, after a solid first four months, now has an ERA over 7.00 since August 5th. His fantasy value is plummeting.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsFriday 8/28, 9:41 PM CT
John Lannan was very sharp on Friday night, allowing just two Cardinal runs in eight innings, but would take a no-decision as Albert Pujols hit a walk-off home run off of Jason Bergmann in the ninth inning.

Our View: The outing was a marked improvement on his last one - a 1.2 inning, seven run disaster against the Brewers. Through 27 starts and 168.2 innings this season, he now has a 3.95 ERA.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsMonday 8/24, 5:15 PM CT
John Lannan is slated to pitch on regular rest Thursday against the Cubs, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: The Nats were considering using Lannan Tuesday against Chicago as he only threw 43 pitches in his last start Saturday, but decided to keep him on regular rest.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 8/16, 3:33 PM CT
John Lannan did not factor into the decision on Sunday as the Nationals beat the Reds by a score of 5-4. Lannan went 5.2 innings and allowed four runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out two.

Our View: Lannan was just ok today, but his offense was good enough to get the win. Lannan has struggled a bit in his last two outings, but stick with him for now unless he continues to struggle.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 8/11, 9:33 PM CT
John Lannan had his first bad outing in over a month on Tuesday, helping to end the Nationals' eight-game winning streak in the process. The young lefty allowed six run in just 4.2 innings, as the Braves beat the Nats 8-1 in Atlanta.

Our View: Both Lannan and the Nats were bound to lose at some point, and one bad outing isn't nearly enough for you to drop the the talented young hurler from your roster.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 8/5, 9:37 PM CT
John Lannan helped the Nats start a winning streak over the Marlins on Wednesday night, pitching six tough innings to earn his eighth win as Washington won 5-4 at home.

Our View: Lannan has quietly been one of the NL East's best starters this season, and could be a part of the Nationals' rotation for a long, long time.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsFriday 7/31, 8:50 PM CT
John Lannan was tagged for five earned runs on nine hits over seven innings in Friday's 5-4 loss at Pittsburgh. He had one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Lannan now has a losing record at 7-8, but allowed two or less earned runs in each of his previous three outings, and is worth consideration in NL-only leagues for his next battle from the bump.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 7/26, 4:34 PM CT
John Lannan pithed eight sharp innings of one run ball on Sunday, but took a no-decision as it took ten innings for the Nats to defeat the Padres 3-2.

Our View: Lannan has now gone eight innings in three of his last five starts. Unless you're planning on a lot of wins, he's turned into a great option in all formats.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 7/21, 8:29 PM CT
John Lannan dominated the hapless and undermanned Mets on Tuesday night, tossing a seven-hit, complete game shutout, as the Nats crusied to a 4-0 victory at home.

Our View: It was Lannan's second complete game this season, and first career shutout. He has a solid 3.38 ERA, and routinely goes deep into games. He is officially worth an add in all formats.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 7/16, 9:06 PM CT
John Lannan gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits over 6.2 innings in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Cubs at Nationals Park. He had one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View: Lannan had a decent outing, but was dealt a loss due to poor run support from his teammates. He holds a 3.64 ERA, and would likely have more than six wins if he pitched for a better team.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 7/9, 10:27 PM CT
John Lannan was tagged for five earned runs on 11 hits over five innings in Thursday's 9-4 loss at Houston. He had one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View: Lannan falls to 6-6, and has allowed three or more earned runs in each of his last four starts. He should only be employed in NL-only leagues for his next turn in the Nats' rotation.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSaturday 7/4, 3:32 PM CT
John Lannan moved to 6-5 on the year Saturday as he picked up the win in the Nationals' 5-3 defeat of the Braves. Lannan went eight innings and allowed three runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out one.

Our View: Lannan continues to pitch well, but his lines are never overwelmingly impressive. He can be useful in all leagues, but his value isn't great considering the low strikeout rate and the fact that he plays for the Nats.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 6/28, 4:23 PM CT
John Lannan evened his record at 5-5 on Sunday as the Nationals beat the Orioles 5-3. Lannan went 7.1 innings and allowed three runs on six hits while walking three and striking out two.

Our View: Lannan has been very good in the month of June, but his fantasy value is still mediocre. He doesn't strike many hitters out, but he usually pitches well enough to give his team a chance to win. Unfortunately, he will lose many of those games since he pitches for the Nats.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 6/23, 10:18 PM CT
John Lannan was largely ineffective on Tuesday, despite only allowing three runs in 6.1 innings to the Red Sox. He gave up nine hits and walked two, while only striking out three, as the Nationals eventually lost 11-3.

Our View: Lannan was coming off three impressive starts in a row, but is still an only o.k. fantasy option because of his lack of strikeouts and wins while pitching for the lowly Nats.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 6/17, 9:21 PM CT
John Lannan lasted 8.1 innings against the Yankees on Wednesday as he picked up his fourth win of the season. He scattered five base runners and struck four in the game. He generated 15 ground balls against six fly balls.

Our View: Lannan has had a good season all around, but he's been at his best in these last three starts. He's thrown 23.1 innings, including a complete game, and he's allowed only three runs. However, he's a poor strikeout pitcher and he pitches in Washington - both variables working against his fantasy value.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 6/11, 7:24 PM CT
John Lannan allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits over six innings in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Reds at Nationals Park. He had two walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: This was a strong outing for Lannan, but was forced to take a no-decision rather than a win as the Nationals were trailing 2-1 when he exited. Lannan is worth consideration for NL-only leagues in his next turn in the rotation, as he has allowed one or less earned runs in each of his last two starts.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSaturday 6/6, 8:29 PM CT
John Lannan moved to 3-5 on the season after his win on Saturday against the Mets. Lannan threw nine innings and allowed one unearned run on four hits while walking three and striking out two.

Our View: Lannan has shown flashes of being a really good pitcher this season, and the Lannan we saw today needs to be the one that shows up every time out. His fantasy value is fairly low, but a few more starts like this may change that.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 5/20, 9:35 PM CT
John Lannan put together a solid outing on Wednesday, but the Nationals fell to the Pirates 2-1. Lannan went seven innings and allowed one run on seven hits while walking two and striking out five.

Our View: The Nats are going to need Lannan to be very good, because the rest of their rotation is in shambles. He is now the veteran of the rotation, so the Nats will need him to step up and be the ace of this team.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsFriday 5/15, 10:54 PM CT
John Lannan pitched well for the Nationals on Friday, but his team fell in 12 innings to the Phillies 10-6. Lannan went 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out two.

Our View: Lannan isn't a strikeout master, but he tends to give decent starts most of the time. The Nats rarely give him much help, but he could help out a fantasy team in a pinch.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 5/10, 12:06 AM CT
John Lannan walked six, but only allowed three hits as he shut out the Diamondbacks over six innings on Saturday. He earned his second win of the season as the Nationals squeaked by with a 2-1 win.

Our View: Lannan's outing dropped his ERA to a respectable 3.89 on the season. He doesn't strike many hitters out and won't get many wins with the Nats, but he's worth a look in NL-only leagues if he keeps the ERA down.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsMonday 5/4, 11:51 PM CT
John Lannan got some good run support on Monday as he picked up his first win of the season. Lannan went six innings and gave up three runs on nine hits while walking two.

Our View: Lannan has been pitching much better as of late, and he finally got his first win tonight. He is worth a look if he is available, but his low strikeout rate and the team he plays for are both working against his fantasy value.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 4/22, 8:47 PM CT
John Lannan tossed seven shutout innings in the Nationals 1-0 loss to the Braves on Wednesday. He struck out four batters while scattering seven base runners.

Our View: Lannan has looked very good in his last two outings, both at home. If he was dropped in your league following his first two starts, he's worth adding. However, you may only want to start him at home for the time being.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsFriday 4/17, 10:22 PM CT
Pitcher John Lannan held the Marlins to one run over 6.1 innings on Friday and struck out eight batters. Alas, his bullpen couldn't hold the slim lead, and Lannan took a no-decision.

Our View: The southpaw was roughed up over his first two starts, and it's nice to see him settle in and look good. Lannan is not usually a strikeout artist, so he must have been really feeling it tonight.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsMonday 4/6, 6:26 PM CT
John Lannan gave up six earned runs in three innings of work as the Nationals fell 12-6 to the Marlins on Monday. He gave up six hits, including two home runs, while striking out just one batter.

Our View: Lannan may be the Nationals' ace, but he does not offer a lot of upside for fantasy owners. The Nationals figure to struggle for most of 2009, so a repeat of his poor 9-15 record from 2008 is possible.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsFriday 3/27, 9:46 PM CT
John Lannan earned a quality start against the Mets on Friday, throwing six innings and allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk.

Our View: Even though Lannan is Washington's number one starter, he'd most likely be a number five at best on a mixed league roster. Poor, poor Nationals.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 3/22, 3:15 PM CT
John Lannan pitched six scoreless innings against the Astros on Sunday. He allowed four hits and struck out one.

Our View: Lannan justified manager Manny Acta's recent decision to name him Washington's opening day starter, at least for a game. Then again, not much can be said for keeping a light-hitting Houston team scoreless in an exhibition game.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 3/19, 7:31 PM CT
Nationals coach Manny Acta has named John Lannan his opening day starter, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Lannan has only made two starts and thrown six innings this spring, but that was all it took for Acta to be convinced. Then again, who else was he going to name? The Nationals staff is nothing to brag about, but Lannan did make 21 of 31 quality starts last season and finished with a 3.91 ERA. With a little more run support, he should be able to cut down on his 15 losses from a season ago. He knows how to induce groundballs and it is conceivable that the 24-year-old takes another step forward in 2009.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 3/8, 10:32 PM CT
John Lannan had a mediocre outing Sunday against the Mets, pitching four innings while allowing two runs on four hits.

Our View: Though it's still only exhibition baseball, Lannan is beginning to assert himself as a front-of-the-rotation pitcher in Washington. Over his past nine innings of work, he has allowed three runs on six hits.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 3/3, 7:02 PM CT
John Lannan looked like his typical steady self in Washington's exhibition against Team Italy on Tuesday, going three innings of shutout ball with just one hit, one walk and no strikeouts.

Our View: Lannan flew under the radar in his rookie year last season, not surprising given that he was on the Nationals, but was quite effective with a sub-4.00 ERA despite low strikeout totals. He's now given up just one hit and one walk without any runs over five innings in exhibition games thus far and could be a sleeper heading into the season.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 2/25, 5:39 PM CT
John Lannan looked good opening up the Grapefruit League on Wednesday, pitching two perfect innings while striking out one.

Our View: Lannan made 31 starts for Washington last season, going 9-15 with a 3.91 ERA in his rookie year. He should continue to improve, but playing for the Nationals might keep his record in check.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsMonday 9/15, 8:59 PM CT
John Lannan learned from his last start and aced the Mets on Monday night. The southpaw allowed only one hit and one run over seven innings. Lannan also walked three and struck out seven as he improved to 9-13.

Our View: Lannan has had a tough second half, but the rookie southpaw has shown a lot of promise this season. If he were working for just about any team but the Nationals, we'd probably be really excited about his future.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 9/9, 9:55 PM CT
It wasn't a good night for the Mets starter tonight and it wasn't much different on the other side of the field. Nationals starter John Lannan only made it through three innings giving up five runs.

Our View: Lannan has no fantasy value as a starter for any fantasy team.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 9/2, 11:55 AM CT
John Lannan squares off against the Phillies tonight. The lefty is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in two career starts versus Philadelphia, and has the tough mound task of stalling the bats of the Phils and outpitching fellow southpaw Cole Hamels.

Our View: Lannan has been the benefactor of some luck this year. His 78 percent strand rate and the .275 success of balls hit in play by opposing hitters screams implosion. His BB rate of 3.0 doesn't receive enough coverage from his small K rate of 5.0, and the Nats' southpaw has very little chance of long term success with these peripherals.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsFriday 8/22, 5:20 PM CT
Despite allowing five earned runs in 6.1 innings, Washington pitcher John Lannan got the victory as his offense exploded for 13 runs in the Nationals win over the Cubs.

Our View: This is two ugly outings in a row for Lannan, who allowed eight earned runs in four innings his last start. His ERA has jumped nearly half a run in the two starts, from 3.40 to 3.95. Not what fantasy owners are looking for.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 8/10, 5:51 PM CT
John Lannan threw six innings, did not give up an earned run and allowed only one hit to Milwaukee. Unfortunately, he also walked five batters, though he did strike out six.

Our View: Lannan is an underrated performer, and if his club was any good, his record would be much better than it is. His ERA has been 3.82 or better in every month but May.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 8/5, 11:09 PM CT
Both pitchers put forth valiant efforts on the mound this evening, but it was the Rockies emerging with the 8-2 win over the Nationals, leaving Washington LHP John Lannan disappointed with the results. Lannan pitched seven innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Our View: Lannan walked with no decision, but the loss of the win is heartbreaking. He went 0-4 in June, turned by going 2-2 in July. A win would be as beneficial here as it would anywhere.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 7/31, 9:15 PM CT
John Lannan pitched poorly, allowing six earned runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings of work as Washington lost to Philadelphia 8-4.

Our View: Lannan had only given up four earned runs in his last 19 innings of work, but seeing as how he pitches for Washington, does not have much of a record to show for it.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 7/31, 1:16 PM CT
The White Sox are talking to the Nationals about a deal involving John Lannan, according to SI's Jon Heyman. It's not clear who the Nats would give up in return.

Our View: You can bet Jim Bowden would rather give up Tim Redding, but he'll trade anyone if the price is right. Lannan is just 23 and has had a good year, though his strikeout rate leaves something to be desired.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSaturday 7/26, 12:08 AM CT
John Lannan gave Washington a chance to win, but as usual the offense could not deliver, saddling him with his tenth loss. Lannan threw seven innings and allowed just three earned runs on six hits against the Dodgers.

Our View: Lannan has a 3.33 ERA and respectable WHIP, but the Nationals cannot score many runs with their lineup, so Lannan is doomed to have a poor record despite pitching pretty well.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSaturday 7/19, 10:01 PM CT
John Lannan put together a nice effort against the Braves Saturday, allowing just one run on seven hits and three walks while striking out four over six innings.

Our View: The lefty is 6-9 on the year, but his 3.29 ERA over 19 starts has been one of the few positive storylines for the Nats this season.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 7/9, 9:06 PM CT
Washington LHP John Lannan enjoyed a strong evening on the mound tonight, bringing his Nationals to a 5-0 win over Arizona. Lannan pitched six innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits with three walks and no strikeouts.

Our View: Lannan now sits at 5-9 on the season with an ERA of 3.40. This is Lannan's first win since May 18th, going 0-5 through eight starts before tonight, though he allowed just 20 combined earned runs through those starts.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 7/3, 9:18 PM CT
John Lannan allowed three runs on five hits, walked three and struck out three over six innings in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Reds. Lannan wasn't involved in the decision after exiting with the game tied 3-3.

Our View: The rookie left-hander has had an up and down season. His 4-9 record isn't an indicator of how well he has pitched at times. His 3.54 ERA and 1.31 WHIP are.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 7/3, 11:14 AM CT
Could Thursday be the night John Lannan earns a W? Lannan is 0-5 in his seven starts despite posting a 3.73 ERA in the span. He faces a Cincinnati team to which he has never lost.

Our View: Lannan is 4-9 with a 3.54 ERA on the year. He could be a very good fantasy pitcher on a team that could score runs for him.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSaturday 6/28, 11:34 AM CT
The Nationals will ask John Lannan to cover the duties on the mound this evening as they face the Washington Nationals, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Lannan has surrendered three runs or less in his last six starts, giving up two in each of his last five outings, but does not have much to show for it, posting an 0-4 mark over that span. Washington has given Lannan just four runs of support in his last six starts. Lannan, who is 4-8 with a 3.34 ERA on the season, received a no-decision on Sunday against the Texas Rangers, as he allowed two runs and four hits in six innings of his team's 5-3 loss.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsMonday 6/23, 2:29 PM CT
John Lannan's CT scan revealed no serious problem in his bruised right wrist, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: The test was negative, so Lannan should be able to make his next scheduled start on Saturday against Baltimore. He is being treated for a soft-tissue contusion. Lannan is only 4-8 over 15 starts but holds a decent 3.34 ERA and 1.29 WHIP.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 6/22, 4:53 PM CT
John Lannan held the Rangers to just two runs over six innings against the Rangers during which time he struck out six batters and didn't walk a sole.

Our View: The only two runs that scored were on two solo home runs by Brandon Boggs and Ian Kinsler. Lannan has only four victories despite a 3.34 ERA in 15 starts, a testament to how little the offense has done in support of his solid work on the hill.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 6/18, 8:59 AM CT
Nats hurler John Lannan owns a 3.36, and he can thank his teammates for a 4-8 record. The southpaw ranks last in the majors in run support (2.39). Paul Byrd (2.78) and Aaron Harang (2.85) are the two closest on the list, the Washington Post reports.

Our View: Have you seen the Nationals' lineup? If so, this news shouldn't be too surprising. The 23-year-old Lannan doesn't strike out many people, but he does a nice job of getting outs. He looks like a keeper.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 6/17, 9:26 PM CT
Washington LHP John Lannan suffered his eighth loss of the season as the Nats fell 2-1 against Minnesota. Lannan pitched seven innings, giving up just two runs (both earned) on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: That's four straight losses for Lannon with no-decision in between, though he's given up just two runs in four of those outings.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsWednesday 6/11, 9:29 PM CT
John Lannan threw six solid innings on Wednesday night though he lost his seventh game of the year to the Pirates. On the night, Lannan didn't walk a single batter while allowing seven hits and two runs.

Our View: A tough luck 4-7 given his solid work this season, Lannan has allowed two or fewer earned runs in four of his last five starts though he has only picked up one win in that time.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 6/5, 3:11 PM CT
John Lannan allowed two runs on four hits over six innings of work in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Cardinals, with four walks and no strikeouts.

Our View: It was a quality start, but he still fell to 4-6 for the season. He isn't pitching as bad as his record dictates, as he holds a decent 3.47 ERA.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 5/29, 9:10 PM CT
John Lannan worked six solid innings against the Padres though the result was a no-decision. Lannan allowed five hits, three walks and two runs on the day.

Our View: Lannan continues to keep his ERA in the mid 3's, but his WHIP is still 1.39 speaking to the fact that he is still far from a great bet to start in certain matchups.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsMonday 5/19, 3:50 PM CT
John Lannan received the bulk of the credit Sunday afternoon, when his 7.1 innings of one-run ball inspired the Washington Nationals to a 2-1 victory, denying the Baltimore Orioles a sweep of the interleague series.

Our View: Lannon evened his record at 4-4 on the season, lowered his ERA to 3.40 and improved his suspect K:BB ratio (34:20). Lannon has been the beneficiary of a high Strand Rate which is reflected in his 1.43 WHIP.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 5/18, 5:49 PM CT
Despite two rain delays, John Lannan was able to improve to 4-4 on the year as he held the Orioles to just one run on Sunday. Lannan allowed four hits and a walk leading to just one run over seven innings.

Our View: Through nine starts Lannan continues to defy the odds with a 3.86 ERA despite too many walks and a low strikeout rate. Chances are that the dam will spring a leak at some point, that is unless he is the new Tom Glavine.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 5/13, 9:23 PM CT
John Lannan allowed 12 hits, one walk and four runs in six innings to fall to 3-4 on the year.

Our View: Lanna had a 2.17 ERA in his last five starts before tonight, a trend that was reversed in a hurry in this outing. Lannan has allowed 53 hits in 45.2 innings leading to a 1.55 WHIP, so it's not like you should have been fooled into thinking he was an every week starter.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 5/8, 10:51 PM CT
John Lannan evened his record at 3-3 by limiting the Astros to one run over six innings. Lannan allowed seven hits and a walk on the evening.

Our View: Lannan has been a pleasant surprise for the Nats with a 3.40 ERA through eight starts. His K/BB ratio is a poor 1.59, so unless he has more nights like this one where he keep his walks under control, that ERA will shoot up most likely into the high four's or low five's.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSunday 4/27, 5:28 PM CT
John Lannan matched a career high with his seven innings of work in a 2-0 win over the Cubs on Saturday. The left-hander struck out three, walked four and didn't allow a hit until Ronny Cedeno singled to start the fifth inning.

Our View: The left-hander earned his second straight win against two losses.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 4/22, 9:15 PM CT
Washington LHP John Lannan picked up his first win of the season as the Nationals put a 6-0 working on the Atlanta Braves. Lannan worked seven innings, throwing just 95 pitches (59 strikes) as he held the Braves scoreless with just five hits.

Our View: This was Lannan's longest outing in four starts and his first shutout performance of the season.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsThursday 4/17, 11:38 PM CT
John Lannan, who had a career-high 11 strikeouts in the Nats 14th inning loss to the Mets. The left-hander allowed just one run and three hits in six innings of work.

Our View: Lannan became the first rookie left-hander to record 10 or more strikeouts in a start without a walk since Noah Lowry did it for the Giants against the Mets in San Francisco.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsSaturday 4/12, 4:35 PM CT
John Lannan permitted nine hits, four walks and six earned runs over four innings to pick up his second loss of the season.

Our View: Lannan, in an eight game career, has allowed 24 BB compared to 16 K, and you know what to expect from a guy with a ratio like that.
John Lannan, P, Washington NationalsMonday 4/7, 2:20 AM CT
John Lannan allowed two runs in 6.2 innings of work for the Nationals on Sunday. Washington, who has now lost four in a row after a 3-0 start, is rounding into form.
