Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 12/2, 4:11 PM CT
According to Jordan Bastian on Twitter, Blue Jays starter Jesse Litsch will be shut down until July of 2010.

Our View: Litsch underwent Tommy John surgery last season and the Jays don't want to take any chances with the 24-year-old right-hander. He made just two starts last season due to the injury, but was on his way to a promising career before being shut down.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 6/9, 5:41 PM CT
After making little progress with his injured right (pitching) elbow, Jesse Litsch is now scheduled to undergo ligament replacing Tommy John surgery on Friday according to MLB.com.

Our View: After a breakout 2008 season in which the then 23-year-old went 13-9 with two shutouts and a 3.58 ERA, Litsch made only two starts this season before shutting it down. While his loss is not as big as it might be for some teams because of the Jays pitching depth, it is still discouraging to see such a talented, young player have to undergo this serious procedure. Hopefully he is able to eventually return at the level he pitched at in 2008.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 6/3, 8:10 AM CT
According to the Globe and Mail, Jesse Litsch is still experiencing pain in his pitching elbow.

Our View: Litsch has been out most of the season and doesn't look to be getting better any time soon. There is apparently no structural damage in the elbow, but the pain has to be coming from somewhere. He looks a long way from recovery.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 5/5, 11:30 AM CT
Jesse Litsch, recovering from a forearm strain, is roughly a week or two behind Ricky Romero and Casey Janssen, who are expected to return sometime between May 12-20, according to MLB.com. Litsch is currently working on a throwing program in Florida, but the team has yet to set a date for his first rehab appearance with Single-A Dunedin.

Our View: The Toronto rotation is slowly getting healthy. Litsch will likely be back sometime in early June.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 4/27, 7:08 PM CT
Dr. James Andrews prescribed that pitcher Jesse Litsch simply gets some rest, according to the Globe and Mail. Litsch has experienced tightness in his forearm and elbow that has landed him on the DL.

Our View: This is good news for the Blue Jays as many may have expected a more dire prognosis from Andrews. Litsch can pile up the strikeouts and once he gets healthy, he should be worthy of an AL-only spot.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSaturday 4/25, 7:09 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Jesse Litsch will see Dr. James Andrews on Monday. The team is calling the visit only precautionary. The pitcher experienced tightness in his forearm and elbow on Friday after playing catch.

Our View: The team is still hoping he can return to the rotation in mid-May, but if his visit goes as many of them do, he could be done for the year. There should be an update on the 24-year-old by Tuesday.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysFriday 4/17, 7:38 PM CT
Pitcher Jesse Litsch (forearm) might be out until at least mid-May and possibly until June, according to MLB.com. Brian Tallet is getting the first chance to start in his place.

Our View: Tallet isn't assured of holding down that spot, and the Blue Jays could be treading water while they try to figure out their rotation. The longer Litsch is out, the more likely it is that we'll see guys like Brett Cecil and Brad Mills get a shot.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 4/14, 1:56 PM CT
Sportsnet.ca reports that the Blue Jays have placed Jesse Litsch on the 15-day DL with a strained forearm. Bill Murphy will be called up to take Litsch's place on the roster.

Our View: This is not much of a surprise as Litsch had been struggling with pain in his forearm since he strained it Monday night. Don't give up on him just yet, as he could still be a decent option if he gets himself healthy.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 4/13, 9:09 PM CT
TSN reports that Jesse Litsch left Monday's start against the Twins in the fourth inning with stiffness in his right forearm. He allowed seven hits and four runs in the abbreviated outing.

Our View: Litsch was hit with regularity in his first start as well, and his drop in performance at the start of this season is likely related to the forearm injury. We'll keep you updated on his status as more news becomes available.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 4/8, 8:49 PM CT
Jesse Litsch allowed five earned runs on seven hits and a walk through six innings as the Blue Jays lost 5-1 to the Tigers. He gave up three home runs while striking out five.

Our View: Litsch is coming off of a strong 2008 campaign, and most of his success comes from his control and the ability of the defense behind him. He is not a strikeout pitcher, but he limits his walks to the point that his ratios appear fantasy worthy. You're probably better off looking elsewhere, though.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 3/18, 4:31 PM CT
Jesse Litsch got knocked around Wednesday, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits in 4.2 innings. He walked two and struck out three.

Our View: Litsch should be a solid number three or four starter for the Jays. Even though he was beat up a bit today, he's had a fine spring so far otherwise. His low K-rate and penchant for the long ball hurt his fantasy value though. Target him in AL-only leagues unless he really takes off the first month of the season.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 3/1, 3:54 PM CT
Jesse Litsch pitched two scoreless innings Sunday in Toronto's 6-3 win over Tampa Bay. He surrendered one hit, walked a batter, and struck out one.

Our View: The 23-year-old Litsch now has a full season under his belt, so it'll be interesting to see if he can surpass last season's 13 wins and establish himself as a bona fide No. 3 or 4 starter.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 9/28, 3:17 PM CT
Jesse Litsch only issued one earned run on three hits over seven innings in Sunday's 10-1 win over Baltimore, with one walk and five strikeouts.

Our View: Litsch ends the season with a 13-9 record and a 3.58 ERA. He allowed three or less earned runs in eight straight starts.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 9/23, 9:26 PM CT
Jesse Litsch threw a good game but still lost, as the Toronto righty went seven innings and gave up just two earned runs while striking out eight. However, his offense gave him no support, and the Blue Jays lost to the Yankees, 3-1.

Our View: Litsch continued his great work since coming up from the minors in August. He has not allowed more than three earned runs in his last eight starts.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 9/18, 9:13 PM CT
Right-hander Jesse Litsch (12-8) worked six innings to win for the third time in four starts, allowing two runs and four hits. He walked four and struck out six in the Blue Jays' 3-2 win.

Our View: In the middle of August Litsch was sent down to Triple-A, and since coming back to the majors he has been fantastic. Litsch looks a pitcher that fantasy owners could rely on as the season winds downs.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 9/9, 9:52 PM CT
Jesse Litsch held the White Sox to six hits and two runs over seven innings on Tuesday night. He added two walks and six strikeouts. Litsch improved to 11-8 as the Blue Jays swept the doubleheader.

Our View: Litsch has been brilliant since being recalled on August 14. We can't forget about the month-long demotion in the middle of the campaign, but Jesse looks like someone fantasy owners can depend upon.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 9/4, 9:23 PM CT
Jesse Litsch hurled his best game of the season on Thursday night against the Twins as he threw a 4-hit, complete game shutout for his 10th win of the year.

Our View: In four starts since being recalled to the majors, Litsch is 2-1 with a 0.94 ERA. Think someone wants to prove to someone else that he shouldn't ever see the minor leagues again? Despite the great stretch, Litsch is a pitcher who succeeds on movement and location, and when he is off, he can be hit hard on occasion.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 8/28, 9:17 PM CT
Jesse Litsch held the Rays to three runs over 6.2 innings but he was still saddled with his eighth loss of the year.

Our View: Litsch was solid on the night but per his M.O. he only had two strikeouts and allowed 10 hits. Litsch might be valuable to the Jays, but he is nothing more than a roster filler in fantasy leagues.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSaturday 8/23, 3:44 PM CT
Jesse Litsch hurled six scoreless innings, with only three hits allowed, in Saturday's 11-0 win over the Red Sox, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: He improves to 9-7 and lowered his ERA to 4.01. He snapped a five-game skid without a win. He has also held his opponent scoreless in his each of his last two outings (13 innings). Litsch is worth employing in larger leagues.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 8/14, 3:14 PM CT
Jesse Litsch hurled seven scoreless innings, with only four hits allowed, in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Tigers at Comerica Park, with two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: He pitched well but was dealt a no-decision due to poor run support. Litsch is worth using in larger leagues.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 8/12, 7:35 AM CT
Blue Jays recalled RHP Jesse Litsch from Triple-A Syracuse.

Our View: Litsch returns to the Jays hoping to regain his early season form that lead him to a 3.69 ERA on July 1.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 7/24, 8:13 AM CT
Jesse Litsch has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. David Purcey will replace him in the rotation.

Our View: This seems rather harsh for a guy who had a 3.69 ERA on July 1. He had been hit hard his last few starts, but don't expect him to stay in the minors very long.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 7/21, 9:02 PM CT
The hard times continued for Jesse Litsch on Monday. The right-hander allowed seven hits and six runs over 4.2 innings against the Orioles and fell to 8-7 with a 4.46 ERA.

Our View: Litsch has produced just one solid start over his last nine outings. Fantasy owners should bench him if they can afford to.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 7/16, 10:20 PM CT
Jesse Litsch started the year on fire going 7-1 with a 3.18 ERA for the Jays, but since then he has fallen on tough times going just 1-5 with a 5.52 ERA, according to Yahoo Sports. “I’m going to sit down over the break and try to analyze it and figure stuff out."

Our View: Litsch, here is the problem - your stuff isn't that good so unless you hit your spots the results will be uneven. Litsch strikes out less than five batters per nine innings, so if not for an amazingly low BB/9 of 1.39, his production would be much worse. He is a lower tier option in mixed leagues at best, nothing more.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSaturday 7/12, 3:36 PM CT
Jesse Litsch had a tough day on the hill in Saturday's 9-4 loss to the Yankees at home, as he surrendered eight runs (three earned) on seven hits over a mere 2.2 innings, with one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Litsch falls to 8-6 for the season, and is 1-4 over his last seven starts. Keep him reserved until he proves to be effective again.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 6/26, 9:17 PM CT
Jesse Litsch had lost three consecutive decisions and had not won a game in the month of June before earning the victory in Toronto's 7-1 victory over Cincinnati. Litsch went eight innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out six.

Our View: The 23-year-old broke out of his losing streak while shutting down a quality offense along the way. Litsch only had 34 major league starts before tonight, so some inconsistency is to be expected.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSaturday 6/21, 2:57 PM CT
Jesse Litsch will be looking for his first win in June when the Jays battle the Pirates in Pittsburgh tonight, according to MLB.com. Litsch is 7-3 for the season, but is 0-2 over three starts so far this month.

Our View: Litsch is 4-2 with a 3.89 ERA on the road this year, and has a good chance to get back on track against the 35-39 Pirates, who will be without Xavier Nady. Litsch went 4-0 with a strong 2.08 ERA over six outings in May.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 6/15, 3:39 PM CT
Jesse Litsch allowed five runs on eight hits, walked one and struck out two in a 7-4 loss to the Cubs on Sunday afternoon.

Our View: Litsch did a better job with his command, something he has struggled with in his last two starts, but caught too much of the plate for most of the game.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 6/4, 10:58 PM CT
Jesse Litsch, who had a 18 inning scoreless streak entering tonight's game against the Yankees, gave up a third inning run to the Yankees ending the streak at 20. The right-hander, 5-0 with a 1.67 ERA in his previous six starts, lost for the first time since April 22 at Tampa Bay. Litsch allowed four runs on 10 hits, walked two and struck out one.

Our View: Litsch has been a fantasy windfall this year. The right-handers task was tough, facing a Yankee lineup that is patient against right-handers, felt the return of Jorge Posada, and didn't like the taste of a three-game losing streak.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysFriday 5/30, 9:40 AM CT
According to the Jays' team website, Jesse Litsch 's performance in combination with a rare offensive windfall left the dugout loose and the team in high spirits. "We haven't had too many games like that," Gibbons said. "We came out of the gate. We hit (Dana Eveland) pretty good. We got him (with two early line drives) on the forearm and the ankle. We had some good approaches."

Our View: The Jays moved four games above .500 for the first time this season. With two games remaining, their record in May is 19-9, most wins in the majors. One of the pleasant surprises for the Jays has been second-year starter Litsch. Not even a lock for the fifth starter's role entering the spring, the 23-year-old Floridian has compiled a 7-1 record, based on pinpoint control. Following yesterday's seven innings, Litsch has recorded 16 shutout innings in a row, lowering his ERA to 3.19.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 5/29, 10:19 PM CT
Jesse Litsch improved to 7-1 on Thursday by limiting the A's to just seven hits and a walk in seven scoreless innings.

Our View: Litsch has done a great job this season with only nine BB in 11 appearances, but he still allows too many home runs and doesn't miss enough bats. You might consider trading him now before the wheels fall off.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 5/29, 12:39 PM CT
Jesse Litsch will be targeting his seventh win of the season when he battles the Athletics in Oakland today, according to MLB.com. Litsch is 0-1 but holds a solid 1.38 ERA in two outings against the A's.

Our View: Litsch only allowed one walk over his last six starts, and has allowed less than three runs in all but one of those starts over the span as well. He should remain in your lineups today.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSaturday 5/24, 3:22 PM CT
Jesse Litsch threw a complete game shutout on Saturday afternoon, his sixth victory of the season in 6-0 win over Kansas City. Litsch allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out three for his fourth straight win.

Our View: Litsch extended his streak of innings without a walk to 38.2 until he issued a two-out pass to Mark Teahen in the ninth. The Blue Jays stellar pitching continues to carry the club, and outside of a first inning Grand Slam by Brad Wilkerson, the offense continues to sputter.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 5/13, 11:05 PM CT
Toronto RHP Jesse Litsch didn't last too long into the game, but he earned the win and now stands at 5-1 on the season as the Blue Jays put the 5-3 win on the Minnesota Twins. Litsch pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Litsch now has three wins over his last four starts, though he's surrendered at least two runs in each.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 5/8, 10:32 PM CT
Jesse Litsch had another solid outing on Thursday night as he held the Jays to three runs in seven innings as he allowed zero walks on the night.

Our View: Litsch continues to give the Jays a chance to win most night he is on the hill, but unfortunately he really isn't of much use in mixed leagues where his lack of strikeouts hampers his value.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSaturday 5/3, 3:01 PM CT
Toronto RHP Jesse Litsch had his best stuff working off the mound today as the Blue Jays put the Chicago White Sox to bed, 5-2.

Our View: Litsch completed 7 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs (both earned) on five hits. Those runs came off two homers surrendered, both solo shots late in the day, though Litsch failed to surrender a single walk and whiffed three. The outing brings Litsch to a record of 4-1 on the season and adds to a strong run for the Toronto rotation, giving up just five runs combined over the past six games.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 4/27, 4:36 PM CT
Jesse Litsch bounced back from two rough starts that included 17 hits and nine earned runs in 8.1 innings to pick up his third win of the season on Saturday.

Our View: The right-hander limited the Royals to two runs, one unearned, on five hits in seven innings, with no walks and four strikeouts.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 4/22, 9:11 PM CT
The Rays tagged Jesse Litsch for eight hits and five runs over 3.1 innings on Tuesday. The right-hander walked two, struck out four, and served up three extra-base hits.

Our View: Litsch opened the year 2-0, but he has since allowed 17 hits over 8.1 innings. The 23-year-old hurler remains useful in AL-only leagues, but mixed league managers need to pick and choose their battles.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 4/16, 2:38 PM CT
Jesse Litsch is aiming for a 3-0 start when he takes the hill at home against Texas tonight, according to MLB.com. He only allowed two runs on six hits over 5.2 innings in his previous meeting against Texas this season, and holds a 4-4 career mark over 10 starts in front of the home crowd at the Rogers Centre.

Our View: He will face Kason Gabbard, who is also unbeaten this season at 1-0. This should be a good duel to follow tonight.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 3/26, 8:48 PM CT
Working his last start of the spring, Jesse Litsch went long and showed plenty of promise as the Blue Jays earned a 6-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Litsch pitched seven full innings today, allowing just two runs on two hits with only one walk and two strike outs. Litsch has been considered a "lock" for a rotation spot for several weeks, but today's outing shows he could be due for a nice season on the mound.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysFriday 3/21, 3:53 PM CT
Jesse Litsch took the pill to the hill for Toronto on Thursday and allowed three runs on three hits in six innings to pick up the win over Detroit. The Blue Jay right-hander is now 3-2 on the spring, and has by all reports, earned a spot in the Toronto starting rotation.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 3/9, 8:35 PM CT
Toronto Blue Jays got four solid innings from Jesse Litsch in a victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Litsch is fighting for the fifth and final slot in the Jays starting rotation. The right-hander allowed two hits, struck out six and threw 39 of his 65 pitches for strikes.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 2/28, 8:11 PM CT
Jesse Litsch had a rough first appearance on Thursday as he allowed four hits and four runs in two innings against the Tigers. Litsch, battling for the fifth spot in the Jays rotation this spring, will need to turn things around quickly to avoid a demotion to the bullpen or the minors. Considering he had a horrible 4.05 K/9 and a 1.39 K/BB ratio last season, the margin for error for Jesse is razor thin. Today, that razor cut his chin.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSaturday 2/23, 10:43 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Jesse Litsch, who is battling for the back end of the Toronto starting rotation, is slated to start in the Jays' first Spring Training contest on Thursday in Lakeland, Fla., vs. the Tigers. Litsch is competing against Casey Janssen and Gustavo Chacin.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 2/17, 7:46 AM CT
According to The Star, Jays starting pitcher Gustavo Chacin is not in contention for the teams fifth-starter slot. Meaning, if B.J. Ryan optimists are correct, and he can begin the season as the team's closer, the final starting role is between Casey Janssen and Jesse Litsch . The report mentions that the decision on which pitcher will fill out the back of the rotation, it won't depend on performance this spring. It will be made via internal debate.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 5/31, 3:19 AM CT
Jesse Litsch was knocked around Wednesday against the Yankees, allowing five runs in just two-thirds of an inning. Litch was then demoted to Triple-A after the game, making room for Roy Halladay off the disabled list. Litsch made four starts with the Blue Jays while Halladay was out, compiling a 6.62 ERA.
Jesse Litsch, P, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 5/17, 9:11 AM CT
Jesse Litsch will get another start Sunday against Philadelphia, on the heels of his strong debut against Baltimore Tuesday (8 1/3 innings, one run). Keep in mind that he struck out just one batter in that initial start, however.
