Curtis Thigpen, C, Oakland AthleticsFriday 3/27, 2:24 PM CT
Oakland acquired Curtis Thigpen from the Blue Jays on Friday for either cash or a player to be named later, according to PA SportsTicker.

Our View: Thigpen was a second round pick in 2004 that never panned out in Toronto, though he still turns just 26 in April and does have a chance to claim the role of Kurt Suzuki's backup from Rob Bowen at some point this year. Still, it's highly unlikely you'll need to know his name in fantasy circles.

The Blue Jays assigned catcher Curtis Thigpen to minor league camp on Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Our View: This is bad news for his career in Toronto. Thigpen was hoping to win the backup job behind Rod Barajas, and his future looks bleak. J.P. Arencibia (Triple-A) and Brian Jeroloman (Double-A) are two promising prospects who will start every day at the higher levels of the minors.

Curtis Thigpen went 1-for-3 with a home run in Tuesday's 11-4 loss to the Rays.

Our View: It was a nice moment for Thigpen but he will not hold a spot on the Blue Jays major league roster this season.

Curtis Thigpen has been designated for assignment by the Blue Jays, according to the National Post. The club claimed pitcher Brian Burres off waivers, and Thigpen was moved to make room on the roster.

Our View: Thigpen was not expected to hold a role at catcher with the Blue Jays in 2009. Rod Barajas looks to be the No. 1 catcher with Michael Barrett likely the primary backup.

The Jays have recalled Curtis Thigpen from Triple-A Syracuse, according to the AP.

Our View: Thigpen appeared in four games with Toronto in May and June, while going 1-for-6 with no homers or RBI. He did not have a solid offensive season in the minors, and does not merit fantasy consideration for September.

Catcher Curtis Thigpen has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse, according to TSN.ca. The team needed to make room on the roster for Gregg Zaun, who was activated from the DL following his bout with a right elbow injury.

Our View: Thigpen only registered six at-bats (one hit) during his brief stint with Toronto, and held no fantasy value.

The Blue Jays recalled Curtis Thigpen from Triple-A Syracuse Wednesday to replace the injured Gregg Zaun on the roster. Thigpen was hitting .228 with a homer and 18 RBI at the time of his recall.

Our View: Rod Barajas will get the majority of starts behind the plate while Zaun is out, but Thigpen should be in there a couple times per week.

The Blue Jays optioned Curtis Thigpen to Triple-A Syracuse Sunday. The move was made to clear a roster spot for Lyle Overbay, who is expected to rejoin the team after the break. Overbay has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 3, when he broke his right hand, according to the AP. Thigpen hit .270 in 37 at-bats with the Jays.

The Blue Jays recalled Curtis Thigpen from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. He was hitting .299 with three homers and 16 RBI there. Thigpen should remain with the team until Gregg Zaun returns to action.
