Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/30, 11:56 PM CT
Brandon Morrow only issued one hit over eight scoreless innings in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Athletics at Safeco Field. He had two walks and fired nine strikeouts.

Our View: Morrow continues to pitch well this month, as he allowed two or less earned runs in each of his last three starts.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/23, 9:49 PM CT
Brandon Morrow allowed two earned runs on three hits over five innings in Wednesday's 5-4 loss at Tampa Bay. He had three walks with three strikeouts.

Our View: The Mariners were leading 3-0 when Morrow exited, so he was handed a no-decision rather than a loss. Morrow pitched six innings or less in each of his nine starts this season.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/23, 12:33 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Mariners' starter Brandon Morrow has to prove he can get deeper into games if he wants to be in the Mariners' rotation next season. Morrow walked six in his last outing as a starter for the team.

Our View: Morrow has been somewhat of a disappointment since joining the Mariners, and the team has to be questioning their choice of Morrow in the 2006 draft ahead of guys like Time Lincecum, Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, and Kyle Drabek. If he wants to be a starter next season, he needs to find some control and work into the seventh or eighth inning of his next few starts.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/17, 10:06 PM CT
Brandon Morrow walked six White Sox in 5.2 sloppy innings on Thursday, but didn't factor into the decision, as the Mariners won a marathon 14-inning game 4-3 on an Ichiro Suzuki single.

Our View: Morrow now has a cringe-inducing 1.78 WHIP in 56.2 innings this season. Where he fits in with the Mariners' 2010 pitching staff is very much still up in the air.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/13, 12:01 AM CT
Brandon Morrow allowed three runs on five basrunners in five innings on Saturday, helping the Mariners to an 8-3 victory at Texas.

Our View: He picked up his first win of the season in the process. Morrow still has a 5.29 ERA in 51 innings this season, and isn't worth owning for the stretch run.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/9, 7:36 PM CT
Brandon Morrow is slated to start Friday's game against Texas, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: This is good news, as Morrow has been dealing with right forearm tightness. He carries a 5.28 ERA over 46 innings (six starts) with Seattle this season.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/2, 4:20 PM CT
Brandon Morrow is dealing with a tight forearm at Triple-A Tacoma, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: Morrow is slated to make a rehab start Sunday, but will first throw a pen session either today or Thursday.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 7/20, 2:27 PM CT
Brandon Morrow failed to make it through five innings in his first start in Triple-A on Sunday, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. Morrow gave up five runs before being yanked in the fifth after giving up a two-out RBI double.

Our View: Not a good first start for Morrow, and if he wants to get back to Seattle soon he better pitch better than this. Morrow, the number five pick in the 2006 draft (ahead of Cy Young winner and local boy Tim Lincecum), has been a major disappointment in his career so far. The good news is that he is still young, so there is hope for him yet in Seattle.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/11, 8:27 PM CT
Brandon Morrow has been optioned to Triple-A Tacoma by the Mariners, according to the Sports Network. He was moved to make room for newly acquired infielder Jack Hannahan on the roster.

Our View: Morrow was rocked for four earned runs in Friday's loss to the Rangers, and was winless over six starts. He only held value in deeper fantasy leagues. He is displeased with his demotion, and is hoping to return to Seattle as soon as he can.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/11, 12:09 AM CT
Brandon Morrow was tagged for four earned runs on six hits over five innings in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Rangers at Safeco Field. He issued four walks with no strikeouts.

Our View: Morrow remains winless over six starts, and has a poor 5.28 ERA for the season. He should only be considered in the deepest of fantasy leagues for his next outing.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/5, 4:47 PM CT
Brandon Morrow allowed three earned runs on six hits over six innings in Sunday's 8-4 loss at Boston. He had two walks and fired seven strikeouts. He gave up three solo homers.

Our View: Morrow's ERA dipped slightly to 5.05 though he remains winless over five starts. He remains a very intriguing play in the second half if he can harness his wildness as his stuff is top shelf.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/30, 10:38 PM CT
Brandon Morrow allowed three runs (only one earned) on five hits over 4.2 innings in Tuesday's 8-5 loss at New York. He issued five walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: He displayed poor control in his short outing, evidenced by his five free passes. He remains winless over four starts.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/29, 10:30 AM CT
According to MLB.com, the Seattle Mariners plan to eliminate the pitch count limit on starter Brandon Morrow beginning with his start Tuesday against the Yankees. Morrow will be allowed to throw over 100 pitches for the first time this season.

Our View: The Mariners have been very cautious with Morrow thus far, but it looks like they are ready to let him loose. It will be interesting to see what he can do when allowed to throw a full game, and don't be surprised if the strikeout total approaches double-digits. If you need a pitcher, it may be worth the risk to take a shot on Morrow, as he has a huge upside as a starter.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/25, 12:21 AM CT
Brandon Morrow gave up three earned runs on six hits over five innings of work in Wednesday's 4-3 win over San Diego at Safeco Field. He issued one walk with four strikeouts.

Our View: He exited the game tied at 3-3, so he takes a no-decision rather than a win. He only pitched 12 innings over three starts, and is winless over the span. He is only worth consideration in deeper leagues for his next trip to the mound.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/18, 5:49 PM CT
Brandon Morrow allowed two earned runs on five hits over four innings in Thursday's 4-3 loss at San Diego. He had one walk and racked up six strikeouts.

Our View: He only went four innings as he is on a pitch count. The game was tied at 2-2 when he exited, so he takes a no-decision. Morrow is worth consideration for AL-only and deeper mixed leagues if you are in need of pitching help.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/14, 1:46 PM CT
Brandon Morrow will make his next start for the Mariners on Thursday in San Diego, according to the Seattle Times. He lasted just three innings in his last start against the Rockies. He walked four but only allowed one run.

Our View: It seems as if the team wants Morrow to make the transition to becoming a full-time starter while in the majors. Some other members of the rotation are not reliable as far as production or injuries, so expect Morrow to stick around with the Mariners as opposed to going to the minors.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 6/13, 11:06 PM CT
Brandon Morrow allowed one earned run on three hits over three innings in Saturday's 5-3 loss at Colorado. He had four walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: He was on a limit of 60 pitches heading into the game. He was making a spot-start in place of Erik Bedard, who is dealing with mild shoulder inflammation. Bedard is only expected to miss one start.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 6/12, 7:18 PM CT
Brandon Morrow will start Saturday's game at Colorado in place of Erik Bedard, according to the Seattle Times. Bedard is dealing with mild shoulder inflammation.

Our View: Morrow will be limited to only 60 pitches, and will be playing at launching pad Coors Field - making him an unstable fantasy option.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/10, 4:55 PM CT
The Seattle Times reports that Brandon Morrow confirmed that he will be sent to Triple-A once Roy Corcoran completes his injury rehab assignment. The pitcher said he will take the long road on his way back as a starting pitcher. He also added that it was a "hasty" decision to go to the bullpen.

Our View: Morrow was terrible in the bullpen in his 16 appearances this season. David Aardsma took the closer's job from him early on but Morrow was still ineffective in middle relief. We also believe he has the stuff to become an effective starter, but we expect him to be in Triple-A a few months before he is ready to join the Mariners rotation.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/10, 12:29 PM CT
The Tacoma News Tribune is reporting that Brandon Morrow will be optioned to Triple-A Tacoma within the next week and pitch in the starting rotation.

Our View: This just continues Morrow's starter/reliever soap opera. He appears to be committed to starting now, however, and the Mariners no longer need him as a closer because of the emergence of David Aardsma. He could be an interesting fantasy option whenever he is called back up. Keep him on your radar.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 5/19, 12:48 AM CT
In his first outing since losing his closer's job, Brandon Morrow surrendered two runs, four hits, and a walk while working the sixth and seventh frames. He struck out three in the appearance.

Our View: All you really need to know about Morrow's season is that this appearance actually improved his ERA to 9.58. Morrow was once the top pitching prospect in the Mariners organization, but bouncing back and forth between various roles in the rotation and the bullpen has seem to evaporated his effectiveness. We wish him luck in developing his promising potential.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/18, 8:46 AM CT
Brandon Morrow could reclaim the closer's role in Seattle if he improves his control, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Our View: He will see some innings as a middle reliever, and could be given another shot to close games if he pitches with better command. David Aardsma will be the lead closer for the time being. Morrow is worth holding in AL-only leagues.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 5/15, 8:10 PM CT
The Miami Herald is reporting that the Seattle Mariners have removed Brandon Morrow from his role as the team's closer. David Aardsma will lead the rotation of relievers who will close games for the team in the near future.

Our View: Morrow has struggled as the team's closer this season, especially as of late. It remains to be see what the team will do with their once heralded prospect, but he will pitch in middle relief for now. He has little fantasy value at this point, so you will need to find another option to close games.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/4, 11:14 AM CT
Brandon Morrow is aiming to return from the DL when first eligible May 9, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. He is recovering from right biceps tendinitis.

Our View: He did not even think he needed to go on the DL, and should be ready for May 9. David Aardsma is filling in as the Mariners' closer while he is out.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/2, 7:02 PM CT
Brandon Morrow has been placed on the 15-day DL with right biceps tendinitis, according to the Sports Network. The club purchased the contract of pitcher Denny Stark from Triple-A Tacoma as the adjoining move.

Our View: The move is retroactive to April 24. David Aardsma should continue to fill in as the Mariners' closer while Morrow is out.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/27, 1:49 PM CT
Brandon Morrow was held out of Sunday's game to rest his stiff shoulder, according to the Seattle Times. Manager Don Wakamatsu said, "I probably would have given him another day, but he should be fine Monday. I could have pitched him in an emergency type of deal, but I did not think it would be worth it."

Our View: Morrow should be available for tonight's game at the White Sox. The Mariners' closer has nailed down five saves, with a 1.35 WHIP and eight strikeouts over 6.2 innings of relief.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/26, 2:12 PM CT
According to the Seattle Times, Brandon Morrow will be a game time decision for Sunday's game against the Angels. Morrow has been suffering from a stiff shoulder.

Our View: Morrow threw a bullpen session earlier today and it seems like he will be ready to go. If there is a save opportunity tonight, expect him to get in the game.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/23, 9:12 PM CT
Brandon Morrow earned his fifth save of the season on Thursday as the Mariners blanked the Rays 1-0. He pitched a scoreless ninth and allowed just one man to reach base.

Our View: Morrow looks like he's settling into the closer's role. He has been getting progressively better as the season roles on and although he didn't fan a man today he will continue to rack up the Ks with his 100 heater.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 4/21, 11:51 PM CT
Brandon Morrow earned his fourth save of the season as the Mariners beat the Rays 4-2 on Tuesday. He allowed one base runner while picking up one strike out.

Our View: Morrow has looked better nearly every time out. He is hitting 100 mph and his control has been very good. Twenty three of his last 26 pitches have gone for strikes. After spending his spring preparing to be a starter, Morrow has quickly adapted to his ninth inning duties.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 4/4, 8:26 PM CT
Brandon Morrow gave up one hit and struck out two hitters without allowing a run in his lone inning of work on Saturday against the Rockies.

Our View: Morrow will be the full-time closer in Seattle this season. He has battled some stiffness in his arm this spring, but it appears that he will be ready for the regular season. He could be a valuable fantasy commodity as the Mariners don't figure to win many games by more than three runs, giving him ample save opportunities.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 3/29, 2:57 PM CT
Brandon Morrow is going to work as a full-time closer with the Mariners, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: Morrow does not intend to move back to the rotation in the immediate future. Morrow racked up 75 strikeouts over 64.2 innings with Seattle last season. His value for this year goes up with this news, but it would seem like a waste of talent to keep Morrow in the bullpen for the long term.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 3/28, 2:31 PM CT
Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik has confirmed that Brandon Morrow will not open the season as part of Seattle's starting rotation, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: Ryan Rowland-Smith will fill the No. 5 spot in Seattle's rotation. Zduriencik seemed undecided upon whether Morrow would open the season as a starter in Triple-A or as part of Seattle's bullpen, but said that he simply has not gotten enough work this spring to merit a role in the starting rotation. He also avoided discussing the possibility of using Morrow as a closer, so that doesn't seem likely at the moment. Morrow still has awesome potential, but will find it very tough to provide any fantasy value outside of a MLB starting or closing role.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 3/25, 12:42 AM CT
Pitcher Brandon Morrow (forearm) worked one inning against the Dodgers on Tuesday night. He allowed two hits and one run, walked none, and struck out two. The run came on a solo homer by Casey Blake.

Our View: Morrow will need to ramp up his work quickly if he hopes to start the season in the rotation. It will be interesting to see the comments and thoughts about this outing. Thoughts of Morrow returning to a closer's role continue to swirl.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 3/21, 1:25 PM CT
Brandon Morrow indicated that he felt fine after throwing live batting practice Friday, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Morrow had been hindered by the flu and stiffness in his pitching forearm, but was pain-free after throwing 30 pitches to a pair of minor league hitters during the 15-minute simulated game. He said, "I tried to go out and throw normally. I wanted to make sure everything was good to let it go. I was a little better in the stretch. The windup's coming along. Everything looks good."

Our View: Morrow was competing for the fifth spot in the Mariners' rotation prior to suffering the ailment. He is slated to throw a light bullpen Sunday with hopes of pitching in one of Seattle's split-squad games on Tuesday.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 3/14, 6:25 PM CT
MLB.com reports that pitcher Brandon Morrow had a 20-pitch workout on Saturday. He is dealing with tightness in his forearm.

Our View: It looks as if Morrow will not be ready for opening day at this point, unless the Mariners elect to move him back to the bullpen. At this point, that seems unlikely.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 3/11, 10:45 AM CT
The Seattle Times reports that Brandon Morrow is out indefinitely and may miss the start of the season after a setback during Tuesday's bullpen session.

Our View: Morrow is expected to be part of the Mariners rotation, but if this injury progresses, that and his fantasy value will be in jeopardy.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/10, 2:39 PM CT
Brandon Morrow is still experiencing tightness in his right forearm, and his 25-pitch bullpen session today did not go as well as planned as a result, according to the Seattle Times. He will not be making his scheduled start against the Cubs on Friday and he said, "It didn't feel as good as I thought it would. It felt better than it did last week, but it is just frustrating it didn't feel as good as I had hoped."

Our View: Morrow does not know what his next step will be, and is still hoping that it is just normal spring training tightness and not a major setback. He did not comment when asked if the ailment could affect his status in the Mariners' rotation.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/5, 1:35 PM CT
Brandon Morrow will miss his scheduled start on Saturday due to soreness in his forearm, according to the Seattle Times. His nest start has been pushed back to March 13.

Our View: Morrow, competing for a spot on the Mariners' starting staff needs to be 100% if he's going to make an impact. The good news: it's not elbow related.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 1/22, 6:54 PM CT
Brandon Morrow will not return to the bullpen this season, according to the News Tribune. He will vie for a spot in the rotation instead.

Our View: He should find a spot in that rotation as he has a quality set of pitches and good control of them. He made five starts last season after appearing 40 times out of the bullpen. He finished with a 3.34 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 10.44 K/9.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 1/9, 11:22 AM CT
Former reliever Brandon Morrow is prepping for a starting gig in the Mariners' rotation for 2009, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He is working on strengthening his right shoulder to handle 30-plus starts. He has a great arm and will compete for a role in the rotation at the onset of spring training, but will not likely have a solid supporting cast in Seattle, especially following the departures of closer JJ Putz and outfielder Raul Ibanez.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/21, 8:54 PM CT
Brandon Morrow allowed just two hits on Sunday but he still permitted three runs to score over 6.1 innings as he walked five Athletics on the night.

Our View: Morrow continues to be hampered by the walks, his total of five today left him with a BB/9 mark of 4.37, a mark that certainly will lead to a substantial increase over his current ERA of 2.72 and his WHIP of 1.05 next season if not corrected. The stuff is amazing, the control needs a lot of work.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/16, 9:57 PM CT
Brandon Morrow was hit hard by the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night. He gave up eight hits, including three home runs, in just four innings of work. The Royals tallied six runs against the converted reliever.

Our View: Morrow's ups and downs should be expected as he tries to get accustomed to his new role. Expect him to iron out the kinks in the offseason and develop into a solid top of the rotation starter in 2009.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 9/12, 12:17 AM CT
Brandon Morrow needed 90 pitches to make it through five innings, and even though he allowed five hits and four walks, he was able to to hold the Angels to just two runs though he was still collared with his third loss of the year.

Our View: In two starts since rejoing the big league club to pitch out of the rotation, MOrrow has allowed three runs leading to a 2.13 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP. Looks like that conversion back to being a starter suits Morrow just fine.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 9/5, 11:45 PM CT
Brandon Morrow threw 7.2 innings of no-hit ball in his major debut as a starter. The converted reliever gave up an RBI double to Wilson Betemit with two outs in the eighth and was removed promptly afterwards. He did walk three while striking out eight.

Our View: The converted reliever entered the game with 10 saves and a 1.47 ERA this season. Remarkably, he managed to lower that mark to 1.42. He threw 106 pitches, which was probably more than the coaches would have liked him to throw. It will interesting to see how his arm recovers for his next start. Regardless, the 24-year-old right-hander is talented and worth taking a shot on.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/4, 3:53 PM CT
Mariners rookie Brandon Morrow will showcase his six pitch repertoire in his first major league start Friday night against the Yankees, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Morrow has been impressive in 40 games this year out of the pen but was sent down to Triple-A to prepare for being a starter and Friday he will showcase his stuff.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/4, 9:04 AM CT
As if a 100 mph fastball wasn't enough, Mariners hurler Brandon Morrow also developed a curveball in his time in the minor leagues, and he is ready to use it in a major league game, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Morrow will be a starter from here on out in the big leagues, and if he is anything like he was as a reliever, fantasy owners will be thrilled with the results.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 8/27, 12:10 PM CT
It is possible that Mariners pitcher Brandon Morrow could make a start against the Yankees in the their series that starts September 5, according to Mariners.com.

Our View: Morrow was lights out as the team's closer while J.J. Putz was on the mend, and in his last start at Triple-A, struck out 10 batters in just 4.2 innings. He could give fantasy owners a boost should he return in time to make a few starts.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 8/23, 3:11 PM CT
Brandon Morrow only allowed two hits while racking up 10 strikeouts over 4.2 innings in Thursday's outing with Triple-A Tacoma, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Morrow threw 72 pitches and will need at least one more start at Triple-A before being called up. His next start after that would fall on August 31, which is the day before rosters expand. The Mariners would have to decide whether to call him up and make an adjoining roster move, let him pitch once more for Tacoma or push him back a day so they could recall him without demoting anyone. Manager Jim Rigglemen believes there will be time to get him four or five starts with the Mariners in September. He should remain stashed away on fantasy rosters, and could provide a boost over the final month of the season.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/12, 4:20 PM CT
The Seattle Mariners are turning former reliever Brandon Morrow into a starter, and his second minor league start did not go well, according to Scout.com. Morrow threw 51 pitches, going 2.2 innings and allowing three runs on five hits.

Our View: Morrow was lights out as the replacement closer for J.J. Putz when Putz was injured earlier this season. Now, the Mariners are trying to mold his nastiness to a starting spot. He will certainly have fantasy value when he is ready to appear in the big leagues in that role.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/5, 8:05 PM CT
Brandon Morrow will start for Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday, and he will be on a 35-pitch limit, the Seattle Times reports. The right-hander will work on a five-day rotation and increase his workload each time out.

Our View: The Mariners have no reason not to take their time on this project. Morrow could probably be back in the majors after as little as three starts, but why rush his prized arm?
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/5, 4:42 PM CT
The Mariners have sent pitcher Brandon Morrow back to Triple-A Tacoma, MLB.com confirms.

Our View: Morrow will be converted from relief to a starting role, and we'd expect him to be at Tacoma for at least three starts. The bigger news is that the Mariners apparently feel safe handing the closer's role fully back to J.J. Putz.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/3, 5:53 PM CT
Brandon Morrow will indeed be removed from the closers role and returned to the starting rotation at some point in the near future, according to the Associated Press. “It’s going to happen at some point,” manager Jim Riggleman said. “(We’re) not exactly sure when, but it’s going to happen at some point.”

Our View: The team will basically wait a bit until they feel J.J Putz is ready to return to closing, then they will likely send Morrow down to the minors to stretch his arm out before recalling him to make a few late season starts for the club.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/30, 9:18 PM CT
Closer Brandon Morrow might be moved back into the starting rotation for the Mariners, according to MLB.com. If the team decides to make this move, Morrow will likely be sent down to the minors where he would work on building up his stamina in the month of August with a likely return in late August early September to the Mariners rotation.

Our View: How lost is this franchise? Morrow has arguably been be the best closer in the AL since he took over for J.J. Putz, and it's not as if Putz is fully healthy and ready to resume handling the ninth inning. Morrow as a starter long term may be a great move, but in the short term it would be a devastating change to his current fantasy owners.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersMonday 7/28, 10:50 PM CT
Brandon Morrow recorded his tenth save of the season on Monday in a 7-5 victory over the Rangers.

Our View: It appears the Mariners are not yet comfortable using J.J. Putz on back to back nights which is good news for Morrow owners. There was talk over the weekend of sending Morrow down to the minors to try and convert him back to a starter. In 38 appearances this season he has a 1.51 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 35.2 innings.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/26, 1:38 PM CT
Seattle is struggling to determine the best move to make with RHP Brandon Morrow , according to MLB.com.

Our View: Morrow has enjoyed a breakout season out of Seattle's bullpen, posting a 1.56 ERA and 45 strikeouts over 34 2/3 innings of work. But his preference is to eventually move into the starting rotation and the prospect of having another hard-throwing arm slotted behind Felix Hernandez certainly is an enticing proposition for the Mariners to consider. After missing time earlier this month with a hyperextended elbow, right-hander J.J. Putz is close to 100 percent. Once he is deemed completely healthy, that could pave the way for Morrow to begin transitioning into the starting rotation.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/22, 10:33 AM CT
Brandon Morrow, who is still currently working as the Mariners' closer, once again stated that he would like to pitch in the starting rotation, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Morrow said, "I just like the idea of going six or seven innings. Just more time on the mound to work. I want to pitch as many innings as possible. I'd like to get in a rhythm and see how far I can go every time out."

Our View: While there are no current plans to make the move now, many in the Mariners' organization believe Morrow would be best utilized as a starter. He had pitched very well this season, as he holds a 1.71 ERA and 0.85 WHIP over 31.2 innings. When J.J. Putz is ready to effectively handle the closer's role by himself again, Morrow would be pushed to setup duty if the team does not promote him to the rotation.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/13, 5:42 PM CT
Brandon Morrow picked up his ninth save finishing off John Buck and David DeJesus of the Royals for a 4-3 Seattle win on Sunday afternoon.

Our View: Morrow recorded the final two outs for his ninth save in 11 chances.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/10, 6:36 PM CT
Brandon Morrow suffered his first blown save of the year when Jack Cust and Kurt Suzuki took him deep in the ninth inning with two solo shots that sent the game into extra innings. Eventually the Mariners succumbed 3-2 in 11 innings.

Our View: Morrow had gone 21 appearances without allowing a run, so he was due to slip up. Even with this outing in the books his ERA is still a fantastic 1.23 with a 0.85 WHIP as he has been as dominating a hurler as the American League has seen this season.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/5, 11:55 PM CT
Brandon Morrow earned his seventh save of the season on Saturday night with a perfect inning against the Tigers.

Our View: Over his last 11 appearances Morrow hasn't allowed a single run with, get this, one hit and one walk allowed. We thought that level of dominance was reserved for video games.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/3, 7:50 AM CT
Brandon Morrow earned his fifth save of the season in Seattle's 4-2 victory over Toronto on Wednesday night, lowering his ERA to 0.71.

Our View: Morrow continues to close for Seattle while J.J. Putz is on the mend. If you are in need of saves and he is on the waiver wire, he should be picked up. There is no word on when Putz will be back for the Mariners.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/25, 10:15 PM CT
Brandon Morrow threw a scoreless inning in his first appearance since suffering back spasms last week for the Mariners.

Our View: Morrow should be fine moving forward to hurl the ninth inning for the Mariners. Morrow, who failed to strikeout a batter, has 30 K in 21 innings this season.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/24, 9:33 AM CT
Brandon Morrow, who has recovered from back spasms, should be ready to close tonight, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: Morrow could hold solid fantasy value as the closer for a few weeks while JJ Putz is on the shelf, as Morrow has only allowed two earned runs over 20 innings, with an impressive 30 strikeouts.

Brandon Morrow, who is recovering from back spasms, won't be available to pitch tonight, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. He is expected to be available tomorrow.

Our View: Morrow is serving as the team's closer while J.J. Putz is out. Ryan Rowland-Smith is a candidate to close tonight should a need arise.

Manager Jim Riggleman said Brandon Morrow will join the Mariners on Monday in New York, according to the AP. Morrow was unavailable to pitch this weekend due to back spasms.

Our View: Morrow will assume the closing duties upon his return - at least until J.J. Putz is ready.

With closer J.J. Putz on the DL, Brandon Morrow has been handed the closers role in Seattle. Unfortunately, Morrow will likely not be available this weekend due to back spasms, according to MLB.com. "We felt rather than make the long flight [on Thursday], he'd felt he might feel better in the next day or two and be able to get on a flight," manager Jim Riggleman said. "I'm not sure when that will be. I think it's literally day-to-day when he might be able to get on a plane."

Our View: Back to the drawing board go the Mariners. Ryan Rowland-Smith or Miguel Batista will likely fill in for the ninth inning role, and that's a pretty scary proposition.

Seattle reports Brandon Morrow will be ready to "take a good portion" of the closing opportunities while J.J. Putz recovers from elbow injury, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Morrow would have been the go-to guy if the Mariners had scored three runs and taken the lead over the visiting Nationals. But Seattle scored only one run, ended up losing the game by a run, and the new closer, or part-time closer, sat back down and never threw a pitch in the game. Manager John McLaren states there will be other candidates who get a shot when the opportunities arise, but right now Morrow is the guy likely to get that call.

Brandon Morrow came on for an injured J.J. Putz in the ninth inning Wednesday and picked up his first save of the season, striking out two batters before getting Lyle Overbay to fly out to the warning track to end the game.

Our View: It was clear that Putz did not look right Wednesday, and he really hasn't looked right all season. Morrow will take over the closing duties if J.J. has to miss some time. Beat the rush and go pick him up now.

Brandon Morrow is nursing a sore shoulder, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Morrow was unavailable to pitch on Monday due to the ailment, but Manager John McLaren thinks he could be available Tuesday, but the team will be careful with him. Morrow is pitching well in relief, as he only allowed two runs over 16 innings, with 23 strikeouts.

Brandon Morrow won't make the transition into being a starter this year, according to the Seattle Times. The Mariners were considering moving the young fireballer into the rotation at some point this year, but manager John McLaren approached Morrow during batting practice on Tuesday and told him it won't happen. "He didn't think it was going to be a good idea to do it during the season," Morrow said.

Our View: Morrow has huge upside and will be a starter eventually, but it appears we'll have to wait for it to happen. That doesn't mean he isn't worth a roster spot in fantasy as a setup man, though.

Brandon Morrow may transition from the bullpen to the starting rotation, according to the Seattle Times. Manager John McLaren said, "We have thought about it. We haven't come to a conclusion yet, but that is a possibility. There are a couple of schools of thought. That he could be like Chamberlain and work on it here." The Yankees gradually built Joba Chamberlain's arm strength up in the bullpen until he was ready to join the rotation. The Mariners could do the same.

Our View: Morrow could begin the transition as a starter in Triple-A, but it still remains to be seen if the team will actually promote him as a starter at all.

Brandon Morrow was called up to the Mariners on Wednesday and he is eager to show the team that the control issues that have plagued him are behind him, this according to the Seattle Times. "He's ready to go," manager John McLaren said. "He's been throwing on a regular basis down there. I don't see any reason to hold him back."

Our View: Morrow concentrated on throwing his changeup and worked on a split-finger fastball while in the minors, but he did also walk six batters in 7.1 innings, so perhaps his newfound confidence is a bit optimistic.

Brandon Morrow threw two scoreless innings for Double-A West Tennessee on Monday. He has not allowed an earned run in 7.1 innings pitched this season for the Diamond Jaxx.

Our View: That’s the good news. The bad news is that he has allowed six walks in that time. Walks were a problem for him in his rookie season with the Mariners, and they continue to be a problem. For Morrow to reach his potential, he definitely needs to improve his control. Still, he probably is not far away from rejoining the big league club.

The Mariners optioned Brandon Morrow to Double-A West Tennessee on Friday, according to the Seattle Times. "Morrow's not quite ready," manager John McLaren said. "His velocity is great. We'll put him on a throwing program. I think we'll see him back fairly soon." Morrow was slowed this spring by a sore shoulder and was sent to Tennessee, rather than Triple-A Tacoma, so he could work in warmer weather.

Brandon Morrow had a rough outing against Rangers minor leaguers on Tuesday. He allowed five runs over 0.1 innings. The drubbing included a homer, triple. two singles, and a walk. "It's a tough one," Morrow tells the Seattle Times. "It's a frustrating one." The promising young right-hander has only pitched twice since March 10 due to a sore right shoulder.

The Mariners have shut Brandon Morrow down for a few days due to a tired throwing shoulder, according to the Seattle Times. Assuming all goes well, he'll play catch Sunday and resume pitching early next week.

The acquisition of Erik Bedard will push Brandon Morrow to the bullpen this spring, according to the Seattle Times. GM Bill Bavasi said he'll shelve his original plan of moving Morrow into the rotation, which means Morrow will have to go back to his previous role as a late-inning relief specialist in the seventh or eighth.

Brandon Morrow is the most likely candidate to step into Seattle's No. 5 starter spot this spring, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. However, both Ryan Rowland-Smith and Horacio Ramirez are in the picture, too. Morrow, who spent last year in the bullpen, posting a 4.12 ERA in 60 appearances, has been working as a starter in Venezuela. In seven starts, he is 3-2 with a 2.72 ERA.

The Mariners could use Brandon Morrow in a deal to acquire either Johan Santana or Erik Bedard, but they are not eager to part with the young hurler. "He (Morrow) is highly, highly unlikely to leave," general manager Bill Bavasi tells the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "I'm not saying he couldn't be traded, but it's unlikely." Bavasi also shot down rumors of Morrow opening 2008 in the minors. "He's highly, highly unlikely to start in Triple-A," Bavasi adds. "We don't feel like that's going to help us."

Brandon Morrow, the Mariners' first pick in last June's darft, has made the Mariners' opening day roster, according to the AP. Morrow will start the year in the bullpen, though he could be called upon to start if one of the M's starters struggles or is injured.
Brandon Morrow, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 3/24, 8:22 AM CT
Brandon Morrow hasn't allowed a run in 7 1/3 innings this spring and remains in the running for a bullpen spot with the Mariners, according to the Seattle Times. "He keeps making a case, doesn't he?" manager Mike Hargrove said. However, the Mariners still see him as a starter and he has only limited Single-A experience, so he may end up in the minors when the season begins.
