Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 3/16, 5:43 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 2-for-4 and stole his seventh base of the spring in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Royals.

Our View: Gomez is running like gangbusters this spring, which bodes well for his fantasy status. He won't help much in other offensive categories, but could be a cheap source of steals in mixed leagues.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 3/9, 6:26 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 0-for-3 against the Cubs on Tuesday, but did manage to steal his third base of the spring.

Our View: And that's obviously what all of his value will be derived from this season, his speed. He cannot be counted on for anything else.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 1/19, 6:45 PM CT
Carlos Gomez's one year deal with the Brewers will pay him $1.1 million, according to ESPN.

Our View: The speedy Gomez is expected to man center field for the Brews in 2010, though at least for the moment, he can't be considered much of an option outside NL-only leagues. In 1.017 career at-bats, he is just a .246 hitter.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 1/19, 11:25 AM CT
The Brewers and Carlos Gomez have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year deal, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View: No word yet on how much money the deal is worth. Gomez will start in center field for Milwaukee and possesses excellent speed, though he's failed to show much discipline at the plate throughout his young career and will have to improve before becoming a legit fantasy option.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 11/6, 11:06 AM CT
Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting that the Twins have traded speedy outfielder Carlos Gomez to the Brewers in exchange for shortstop J.J. Hardy.

Our View: Part of the Johan Santana deal, Gomez is a defensive whiz, as well, but hit just .248 in his two seasons in Minnesota. His arrival almost certainly spells the end of the Mike Cameron era, and the beginning of the Alcides Escobar one.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 8/8, 9:42 AM CT
Carlos Gomez left Friday's game in the seventh inning after fouling a ball off his leg, according to MLB.com. Gomez has been diagnosed with a bruised calf.

Our View: Gomez should be fine, although he is probably a little sore today. It is just a bruise, so he should return to the lineup soon, possibly even today.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 8/4, 9:16 PM CT
Carlos Gomez led the Twins offensively in tonight's 10-1 win at Cleveland, as he went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored. He hit a single, double and a three-run homer off Jensen Lewis.

Our View: Gomez ended a 14-game drought without a homer, and registered multiple hits in a game for the first time since July 18, when he went 2-for-4 at Texas.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 6/14, 9:48 PM CT
Carlos Gomez provided all of the offense for the Twins on Sunday in their 3-2 loss to the Cubs. Gomez went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Our View: Gomez has struggled for much of this season, but he looked very good at the plate today. His speed makes him an asset when he can get on base, but his .227 average isn't good enough to merit fantasy consideration in mixed leagues.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 5/25, 2:37 PM CT
Carlos Gomez received two stitches in his head after getting caught in a revolving door while entering the HHH Metrodome this morning, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: He was able to start in center field against Boston, and looks to be fine.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 4/30, 9:31 AM CT
Carlos Gomez will return to the Twins for Friday's game against the Royals, according to MLB.com. His wife gave birth to a son on Wednesday morning.

Our View: Gomez should be fine to pencil back into fantasy lineups for Friday. Hopefully he will find his swing, as he is hitting .195 over 41 at-bats, with 11 strikeouts.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 4/27, 6:42 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Carlos Gomez will fly to Florida on Tuesday to be with his wife for the birth of his child.

Our View: Gomez has played himself out of the starting lineup with a .195 average and 11 strikeouts in 41 at bats. He holds no fantasy value.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/19, 5:59 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 3-for-3 with an RBI in the Twins 3-1 win over the Angels on Sunday. He was caught stealing on his only attempt.

Our View: The 23-year-old is not starting regularly and he is now just 2-for-4 on his stolen base opportunities. Despite the good showing today, he is hitting just .200. If Gomez is not stealing three or four bases per week, he shouldn't be rostered.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 3/14, 4:14 PM CT
Carlos Gomez was 1-for-2 with a walk, a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored in Saturday's 9-5 loss to the Marlins.

Our View: Gomez is having a nice spring, as he already has three home runs in 24 at-bats. He is just 23, and he should reclaim the leadoff spot this season in Minnesota. Whether he hits first or ninth, he should still be a solid fourth outfielder and maybe more. Given a full-time job, he should be a lock to steal 30 bases.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 3/8, 3:06 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 2-0 win over Baltimore.

Our View: Gomez collected his second homer of the spring, and his power may be developing sooner than anticipated. He is worth targeting as a solid source for stolen bases, but until he learns to cut down on his swing (142 K, only 25 BB) his value will be somewhat limited.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 9/25, 11:52 PM CT
Carlos Gomez hit two triples and finished the night 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored for the Twins in their 7-6 come-from-behind win over the White Sox.

Our View: After three bad months in a row, September has been very good to Carlos Gomez and those few owners that stuck by him.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 9/16, 10:47 PM CT
Carlos Gomez coninued his hot streak on Tuesday night against the Indians. He went 2-for-6 with three RBI, a run, and his 31st stolen base of the season. However, he also collected his eighth error of the season which contributed to a costly four run inning early in the game.

Our View: Reports a week ago suggested Gomez may lose his starting spot. Since then, Gomez has garnered an AL Player of the Week award, tallied 15 RBI in September and appears to be a lock to remain in the lineup.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 9/15, 4:20 PM CT
As reports were coming out that Carlos Gomez would lose at-bats down the stretch, he did everything he could to stay in the lineup. Last week Gomez was 10-for-22 at the plate with eight RBI. These numbers helped Gomez to the AL Player of the Week award, according to the Indians official web site.

Our View: The only reason you might look to pick up Gomez is if you are in need of some late season SB help.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 9/10, 10:30 PM CT
For the first time since 2001 a Minnesota Twin has stolen 30 bases. The honor goes to Carlos Gomez who swiped his 30th bag against the Royals Wednesday night.

Our View: Gomez has seen his at-bats diminish lately and doesn't have much fantasy value.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 9/5, 8:43 AM CT
Carlos Gomez's playing time has been decreasing as manager Ron Gardenhire wants to keep his best bats in the lineup during a tight AL Central race against the White Sox, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: Gomez didn't start Thursday and only started one of the last four games. Denard Span started in center field in place of him. Gomez started Tuesday, but went 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts against AJ Burnett of Toronto, and is hitless in his last three games. He will continue to be phased out of the lineup until he gets back on track.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 8/28, 8:33 AM CT
Carlos Gomez did not start Wednesday as he had been 1-for-6 in the first two games of the series against Seattle, according to the Star Tribune. Manager Ron Gardenhire said, "He's swinging a little crazy again. Just gotta calm him down."

Our View: Gomez will likely return to center field tonight when the Twins open a four-game set against the Athletics.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 8/18, 11:55 PM CT
Carlos Gomez was benched for the second game in a row Monday. The youngster has struck out 112 times and has a horrid .286 on-base percentage this year. "I want him to think about those things, and continue to work hard. He'll be fine. He's game on, no matter what we do," manager Ron Gardenhire said.

Our View: Gomez is usable in fantasy leagues that don't count OBP, but his lack of selectivity at the plate, if he doesn't improve, will hold him back from ever being a star.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 8/8, 11:17 PM CT
Carlos Gomez stole his 22nd and 23rd bases on Friday night for the Twins while Denard Span had two hits and stole his seventh base.

Our View: Remember back when Gomez had 17 steals in his first 45 games? Since then he has stolen six bases in 62 games and clearly is in danger of losing playing time when Michael Cuddyer returns early next week.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 7/28, 8:06 AM CT
Carlos Gomez, who is nursing a lower back ailment, has exercised in the pool but hasn't done any running since crashing into the outfield wall Friday, according to the Star Tribune. He is still sore but was feeling a great deal better Sunday than on Saturday.

Our View: Gomez believes he may be ready to return to action Tuesday.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 7/26, 4:35 PM CT
Carlos Gomez will miss the rest of the Twins series with the Cleveland Indians after being taken off the field yesterday on a stretcher when he ran into the wall making a catch, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Gomez simply has a bruised tailbone and lower back, and he should return soon.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 7/25, 7:20 PM CT
Carlos Gomez was carted off the field in a neck brace after injuring his lower back while making a superb catch against the wall, according to TwinsBaseball.com.

Our View: Gomez did not lose any feeling in his limbs, but he was taken to the hospital. We will update you when more information is released.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 7/22, 5:31 PM CT
The Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune reports that Carlos Gomez will bat ninth in the lineup following a meeting with manager Ron Gardenhire.

Our View: Gomez was 0 for 5 on Monday, extending his slump to a horrific 5 for 58 (.086). Gomez was batting .274 on July 2 but is now at .247.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 7/22, 3:12 PM CT
Twins center fielder Carlos Gomez has 21 stolen bases on the season. But here's the catch, he has only three since June 12.

Our View: With a .247 average Gomez is slumping on and off the bases. Look for him to turn it around soon and be off to the races once again.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 7/13, 2:52 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 0-for-4 in today's game, dropping his batting average to .253, and he is now in a 3-for-39 slump.

Our View: Gomez would be well served with some time off. He needs to come back in the second half and forget about the way he ended the first. His fantasy value is going down by the day.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 7/13, 7:42 AM CT
Carlos Gomez will continue to play and bat leadoff despite being in a 3-for-35 slump, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "We know what we have with him. We have a free swinger and a guy who can ignite your team," said manager Ron Gardenhire.

Our View: Gomez has a rotten .290 on-base percentage, which is particularly bad for a leadoff hitter. If you desperately need steals, keep him in your lineup, but otherwise it may be wise to find a replacement for him.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 7/10, 11:31 AM CT
Carlos Gomez was given a day off yesterday, as he is mired in a 2-for-21 slump, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Gomez is hitting .263, but his on-base percentage is a sickly .298, which is clearly unacceptable for a leadoff hitter. Gomez has fantasy value due to his stolen base percentage, but it would be nice to see him take a more disciplined approach at the plate.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 6/25, 11:53 PM CT
Carlos Gomez returned to the world of the living on Monday night as he had three hits which led to two RBI. He also stole his 19th and 20th bases of the year.

Our View: Those two steals were just his second and third in his last 22 games, a completely unacceptable number for a player with his wheels. His lack of plate discipline still has his OBP hovering around the .300 mark, something that must improve substantially for him to maintain his value.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 6/18, 10:17 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 3-for-5 scoring twice and driving in one as the Twins routed the National 11-2 on Wednesday night.

Our View: Gomez raised his average to .274 and now has 25 RBI and 43 runs scored on the season.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 5/29, 10:57 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI for the Twins. He was also thrown out twice trying to steal.

Our View: Gomez continues to confound conventional wisdom by hitting at a near .300 clip (.293) despite a plethora of K (52) and few walks (five). At some point something will have to change, we would bet on the average falling.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 5/22, 4:07 PM CT
Carlos Gomez had one of his best days of the season at the plate as he had four hits, one being his fourth home run, with two runs scored and three RBI for the Twins.

Our View: With this outing Gomez saw his average climb to .286, though his OBP is still barely above .300 because of only six walks on the year. At least he is back in the lineup and apparently healthy.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 5/20, 6:39 PM CT
Carlos Gomez is back in the starting lineup for the Twins on Tuesday night against the Rangers. Gomez has been available only as a pinch hitter since last week while he nursed a wrist injury.

Our View: Gomez has 155 at-bats heading into Tuesday's game. He's recorded 14 RBI, 24 runs scored, three home runs and 16 stolen bases while hitting .271.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 5/19, 7:25 PM CT
Carlos Gomez remained out of the lineup on Monday night due to a sore wrist, though he could play as soon as Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: In the long run a couple of days off might do Gomez some good anyway, so if his wrist injury isn't severe there is no reason to think a couple of days off will hamper his ability to hit the ball on the ground and run really fast.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 5/17, 11:12 PM CT
Carlos Gomez was out of the Saturday night lineup at Coors Field with a sore right wrist, injured while making a catch against the wall in center field in the ninth inning of Friday's game.

Our View: It was the second game in three night's Gomez has been out of the lineup. He missed Thursday's game to the flu. Consider the speedy outfielder day-to-day.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 5/15, 1:25 PM CT
Carlos Gomez has been scratched for Thursday due to the flu, according to the AP.

Our View: He told the team he could play through the illness, and could still be used as a late game sub, for running or fielding purposes. It sounds like he will be fine and this isn't due to his recently strained left calf.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 5/13, 11:00 PM CT
The Twins struggled to get the offense going this evening, suffering the 5-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, but leadoff man CF Carlos Gomez tried his best to improve the results. Gomez went 2-for-4 with his third home run of the season, totaling one RBI on the night.

Our View: Gomez has turned it on in May, going 12-for-40 with seven RBIs and two homers in 10 games.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 5/9, 8:36 AM CT
Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen praised rising star Carlos Gomez, according to the Star Tribune. Guillen said, "He's not too far away from people saying, 'Torii Hunter who?' I'm telling you, I saw Kirby Puckett play. They're not going to forget Kirby Puckett. But this kid can bring a lot of good things to baseball. We need that. Baseball needs that. I love the way he plays."

Our View: Gomez hit for the cycle on Wednesday, and was the first member of the Twins to do it since Kirby Puckett in 1986. At 22-years old, Gomez is also the third youngest player to hit for the cycle, behind Cesar Cedeno and Alex Rodriguez.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 5/7, 11:22 PM CT
Carlos Gomez hit for the cycle on Wednesday night to become the first Twin to accomplish the feat in almost 22 years since Kirby Puckett in 1986, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Gomez went 4-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBI on the night, so we won't mention the fact that he didn't steal a base. Oops, we just did.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/4, 11:19 AM CT
Carlos Gomez wants to return to the Twins' lineup today after getting hit in the head with a pitch on Friday, according to the Star Tribune. Gomez said he wants to play in today's game against Detroit, but Twins third base coach Scott Ullger said Gomez might sit again. The Twins are off Monday, which would give Gomez a full three-day break before they open a series in Chicago on Tuesday.

Our View: Gomez was diagnosed with a contusion, not a concussion. GM Bill Smith said the team continues to monitor Gomez but has not felt the need to have him undergo a CT scan.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 5/3, 8:15 PM CT
Carlos Gomez sat out Saturday night's game against the Tigers due to a nagging headache after being hit in the head by a throw in Friday's outing, according to MLB.com. Gomez said he did not sleep favorably on Friday night and showed up to the Metrodome with a headache on Saturday. He did not take batting practice and commented that he would spend the game "chilling" in the dugout.

Our View: Scott Ullger said, "We'll have to wait and see about Sunday. If he still has a headache, it might be better to give him Sunday and then he'll have Monday off, too. I'd sure like to have him in the lineup, but we'll let somebody else play Saturday." We will keep you posted on his playing status for Sunday and beyond.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 5/2, 10:59 PM CT
Carlos Gomez left Friday's win over the Tigers in the fifth inning after being hit in the head by a throw from Ivan Rodriguez while stealing second.

Our View: After being examined by the team trainers Gomez was ruled healthy and is expected to be available on Saturday.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 4/30, 3:17 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox. He also registered his 11th stolen base of the season.

Our View: His sore calf seems to be fine now, and he is safe to return to your lineups. He raised his average to .265 (over 102 at-bats) following today's strong performance.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 4/29, 4:22 PM CT
Carlos Gomez is back in the lineup for the Twins Tuesday after missing the last two games with a sore calf, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: It's safe to put Carlos back in your lineup. Hopefully he doesn't suffer some sort of setback.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/27, 8:19 AM CT
Minnesota OF Carlos Gomez left Friday's game against the Texas Rangers with an apparent leg injury, later reported to be a strained left calf muscle, and has yet to return to action for the Twins.

Our View: We have yet to receive an official update on Gomez's status moving forward, but we will update once that comes across the wire. Until then, expect Craig Monroe to get the starts in his place.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 4/26, 6:02 PM CT
Carlos Gomez is not in the Twins Saturday starting lineup. The center fielder is nursing a bruised left calf.

Our View: Published reports listed the injury as a hamstring strain, but the good news is that the ailment is in fact a calf injury. The difference between the injuries is often a stint on the disabled list. Consider the Twins speedy center fielder day-to-day. Craig Monroe is starting for Gomez tonight.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 4/24, 6:52 PM CT
Carlos Gomez returned to the lineup a day after being benched to go 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI from the leadoff spot.

Our View: It was great to see Gomez make a statement today, but he is still getting on base at well under a .300 clip and with 24 K and just two BB, his plate discipline needs a ton of work. His speed is his calling card, but if the rest of his game doesn't come around, he could lose playing time.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 4/24, 9:30 AM CT
Ron Gardenhire sent Carlos Gomez to the bench in favor of Denard Span on Wednesday, according to the Star Tribune. Gardenhire made the move as Gomez has fallen into slumps of 0-for-15 and 1-for-18 following a hot start, and the Twins' skipper commented, "He needs to shorten his swing. He didn't make any adjustments Tuesday. Kept swinging hard. Kept missing. He needs to make some adjustments. He gets a breather. Today he'll go back out there. He tried to hit the ball to the moon Tuesday. We have to get back to contact. It's not a bad thing for a young fella to take a breather. This is a good time. The other young man needs to get in there."

Our View: Gomez was hitting .356 on April 11, and you can use his slump to your advantage by trying to acquire him for a low price. He still has nine stolen bases over 20 games played, and should remain in the Twins' starting lineup.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 4/21, 5:29 PM CT
Carlos Gomez has nine SB on the year to impress fantasy owners, but other parts of his game still need work, this according to the AP.

Our View: Gomez has obviously contributed on the bases, and with the glove as well, but at the plate his average is down to .244 thanks in part to a hideous BB/K ratio of 2 to 20 leading to an unacceptable .262 OBP. He doesn't appear to be in any danger of losing his starting spot, but there are certainly plenty of reasons to be concerned with Gomez given his approach at the plate.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 4/16, 10:51 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 2-for-4 with one run scored on Wednesday night. Oh yeah, he also stole two bases.

Our View: Gomez is hitting an acceptable .262 on the year, but the nine SB he has racked up are simply huge in standard 5x5 leagues.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 4/4, 10:00 PM CT
Carlos Gomez was 3-for-4 with a run scored and swiped two more bases Friday in a win over Kansas City. Gomez has four steals already on the year, and it's clear that the speedster is going to have the green light to run at all times.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 3/31, 11:05 PM CT
Carlos Gomez, who replaced the popular Torii Hunter as the Twins center fielder, was 2-for-3 with two runs and two stolen bases in Monday's 3-2 win over the Angels. Expect Gomez to challenge Carl Crawford for the stolen base crown in the American League.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 3/27, 1:23 PM CT
Carlos Gomez was scratched from Thursday's card for overall soreness in his left leg, this according to the team website. Gomez suffered a left hamstring cramp in the fifth inning of Wednesday's game, and the cramp caused some soreness. The injury isn't considered serious and he's expected to take part in the team's exhibition schedule this weekend.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 3/26, 3:03 PM CT
Carlos Gomez left Wednesday's game against the Rays due to a cramp in his left hamstring, MLB.com reports. He was able to walk off the field but did have a limp. Gomez is day-to-day.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 3/24, 10:00 AM CT
The Twins optioned four players to Triple-A Rochester on Monday, this according to the Star Tribune. Philip Humber, Denard Span, Brian Buscher and Jason Pridie were the four players. Carlos Gomez, who's batting .286 with a homer, six RBI and 10 stolen bases this spring, will be the Twins' opening day starting center fielder. He offers great fantasy potential because of his speed.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 3/16, 6:15 PM CT
With worries of replacing Torii Hunter still serving as a point of contention for fans in Minnesota, Carlos Gomez, acquired as part of the trade sending top pitcher Johan Santana to the Mets, is showing there may be a silver lining to the worrisome changes made by the Twins this season. Gomez went 1-for-2 with a run scored and his sixth stolen base of spring training. This kid is all but guaranteed the starting job in Minnesota's center field spot this season and early indications suggest the young speedster will have fans breathing a sigh of relief.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 3/7, 7:19 PM CT
Carlos Gomez put his speed on display on Friday as he registered a single and a run scoring triple, while also picking up his third stolen base of the spring. He was part of the Santana deal, and is paying off well for the Twins early on.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 1/29, 11:40 AM CT
Carlos Gomez was pulled from his winter league team yesterday, leading to speculation that he was involved in a trade. However, the Mets have said it was their plan to limit Gomez's games, and that this was not a prelude to a deal, according to the NY Post. Gomez's name has been mentioned prominently in the Johan Santana trade talks.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 7/5, 7:13 PM CT
The Mets placed Carlos Gomez on the disabled list Thursday. He's expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a broken hand sustained during Wednesday's game. He underwent surgery on Thursday to repair the damage and won't be back in game action until sometime in mid/late August.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/27, 7:45 AM CT
Carlos Gomez doesn't believe the strained left hamstring he sustained last night will keep him out for long, according to the New York Daily News. "I don't think I will be out for a long time - maybe two or three days," Gomez said. "I felt like it stretched - not pulled. That's why I can walk now. I feel only a little pain when I do squats. I feel like normal." With Shawn Green injured, too, the Mets are short on outfielders. Look for Ben Johnson to be called up and Gomez or, more likely, Green to head to the disabled list.
Carlos Gomez, CF, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 5/26, 8:07 PM CT
Carlos Gomez left Saturday's game in the second inning with a strained left hamstring. David Newhan replaced him in left field.
