Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 3/14, 1:10 PM CT
Kevin Slowey struck out four Red Sox in three hitless innings on Sunday.

Our View: As a result, his spring ERA remains at 0.00. You could say he's having a good spring.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 3/8, 2:46 PM CT
Kevin Slowey passed his first test this spring, pitching three scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and two strikeouts against Baltimore on Monday.

Our View: Slowey is a talented young pitcher who will be coming back from wrist surgery that cut his season short last year. He has the potential to post a fine K:BB ratio if he can stay healthy.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 9/13, 10:55 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Twins' injured pitcher Kevin Slowey is expected to be ready for spring training next season. Slowey will report a month early to the spring training facility to make sure he is ready.

Our View: Slowey was having a very solid year before his injury, and he will be looking to pick up where he left off when the spring begins in 2010. He should be fine for next season, as the injury only has a 2-to-4 month recovery time.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 8/4, 6:12 PM CT
As expected, Kevin Slowey underwent surgery on his right wrist Tuesday to remove a bone chip, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: He will need 2-4 months of recovery time, and the Twins expect him to be ready to go for spring training.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 7/27, 5:02 PM CT
Confirming prior suspicions, Kevin Slowey will indeed have surgery on his right wrist that will most likely keep him out the rest of 2009, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Kevin Slowey's 2009 campaign will be viewed as mostly disappointing, as his ERA (4.86) and WHIP (1.41) were both significantly worse compared to last year's figures. He was, however, able to go 10-3 in just 16 starts while maintaining an excellent 5:1 K:BB ratio that he has become known for. At just 25 years old, there's plenty of things to like about Slowey, and he'll certainly reclaim his spot in Minnesota's rotation and merit being drafted in leagues of all sizes and formats next season. Anthony Swarzak will remain in Minnesota's rotation in Slowey's absence.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 7/25, 12:34 PM CT
According to MLB.com, Twins' starter Kevin Slowey is scheduled to meet with team doctors when the team's current 10-game road trip is complete. Slowey has been shut down by the team after he was unable to play catch on Friday.

Our View: Slowey's meeting with the doctors seems to be to determine if he will need surgery on his wrist. Things aren't looking great for Slowey at this point, and owners will want to start making plans to replace him permanently this season. We will keep you updated on his status as the news becomes available.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 7/24, 9:01 PM CT
Kevin Slowey has been shut down with his strained right wrist, and will be examined by team doctors, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: Slowey was slated to start on Saturday for Triple-A Rochester, but was unable to play catch today. There is belief that Slowey may require surgery.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/22, 8:53 PM CT
Kevin Slowey threw a bullpen session Wednesday and is set to start his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Manager Ron Gardenhire noted that Slowey's strained right wrist did not feel as good today as during Monday's session, but he has still been cleared to begin his rehab stint. Slowey will make his first start Saturday, and won't be activated by Minnesota until he can pitch without too much pain in his wrist.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 7/21, 10:49 AM CT
MLB.com outlines a more specific rehab program for Twins' starter Kevin Slowey for the rest of this week. Slowey threw a bullpen session on Monday in Oakland, and he is scheduled to throw another on Wednesday before heading to Triple-A Rochester Saturday to start his rehab assignment,

Our View: Slowey will throw about 80 pitches in his rehab start on Saturday, so expect him to be ready to rejoin the team next week, assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks. Slowey is still a 10 game winner this season, and it may be a good idea to grab him if he is available in your league.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 7/20, 10:18 AM CT
Kevin Slowey is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Monday in Oakland, according to MLB.com. Slowey will throw two bullpen sessions before beginning a minor league rehab stint.

Our View: Slowey is still bothered by his strained right wrist, but if the two bullpen sessions go well he will begin a rehab stint within the next week or so. Assuming Slowey responds well, he could rejoin the Twins' rotation in the next few weeks. He should still be a decent fantasy play upon his return to the team.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/15, 4:07 PM CT
Kevin Slowey's strained right wrist felt better during a throwing session Wednesday, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: GM Bill Smith was encouraged by the session. He is slated to throw again on Friday, and is hopeful of missing just one start after the All-Star break.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 7/12, 1:42 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Twins' starter Kevin Slowey will miss his first scheduled start after the All-Star break, according to ESPN.com. Slowey is recovering from a wrist injury.

Our View: Slowey is hoping to only miss one start after the break, and he will continue to throw over the next week or so. He may need a rehab assignment, but we will keep you updated on his condition.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 7/12, 8:56 AM CT
According to MLB.com, Twins' starter Kevin Slowey threw long toss on Saturday and is scheduled to throw a bullpen on Sunday. If all goes well, Slowey could begin a rehab assignment next week before rejoining the team.

Our View: We will have to wait and see how the bullpen goes today, but it looks like Slowey is on the fast track to a return. If he does go on a rehab assignment, look for it to be short, as the Twins need him back in the rotation.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 7/6, 8:22 PM CT
Kevin Slowey's MRI on his strained right wrist revealed no structural damage, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Slowey will rest for a few days, and then will start a throwing program, barring a setback. He is eligible to come off the DL July 19.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 7/4, 1:24 PM CT
TSN is reporting that the Twins have placed starter Kevin Slowey on the 15-day DL with a strained right wrist. In a corresponding move, the team promoted pitcher Anthony Swarzak from Triple-A.

Our View: Slowey is a ten game winner for the Twins, so this hurts a bit. He hasn't been spectacular this season, but he has been good enough to give his team a chance, which is why he has ten wins. Owners should stash him on the DL and wait for his return, as he is still a solid fantasy option.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 6/27, 3:30 PM CT
Albert Pujols handed Kevin Slowey his third loss of the season on Saturday. The precise righty was chased after just three innings and two Pujols home runs in the Twins 5-3 loss in St. Louis.

Our View: Slowey ended up surrendering five runs in total on six hits and a walk and his ERA rose to 4.41. Despite Slowey's 10 wins this season, hitters are batting over .300 against him and his ERA does not impress. Looks like he's been the beneficiary of some generous run support even on his bad days this season.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 6/21, 12:46 PM CT
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Kevin Slowey has been pushed back in the rotation due to the cramping in his side he experienced in Friday's start. He will miss one start.

Our View: So far this doesn't seem to be a big deal. Slowey is slated to start next Saturday and the Twins fully expect him to do so. With Monday's off day, the rotation shouldn't miss a beat. If there are lingering effects however, expect the Twins to be cautious with him as he's been their best starter this season.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 6/20, 2:16 PM CT
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Kevin Slowey was suffering from a stiff right side in Friday's start that affected his control and forced him to leave after six innings.

Our View: No word on whether Slowey will miss any time, but the side noticeably affected his performance. The control artist who had walked just five batters over his previous ten starts, handed out four free passes in just six innings on Friday. He was visited by the trainer in the sixth and was allowed to finish the inning, but was removed right after. If it's just stiffness, that's one thing, but if it turns out to be a strained oblique it could spell trouble. We'll keep you posted.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 6/19, 10:05 PM CT
Kevin Slowey enjoyed a solid outing as he only allowed one earned run on three hits over six innings in Friday's 5-2 win over the Astros at the Metrodome. He had four walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: The rising star picked up his third win of June, and is now tied with Roy Halladay for the MLB lead with 10 wins for the season.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 6/12, 4:31 PM CT
Kevin Slowey had one of his best starts of the season on Friday at Wrigley Field, striking out ten in six innings while improving to 9-2 in the Twins 7-4 win over the Cubs.

Our View: His nine wins are second in the American League to only Roy Halladay's ten. After showing promise in 12 starts in 2008, he's emerged as a legitimate front end of the rotation starter.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 6/7, 7:30 PM CT
Kevin Slowey was handed his second loss of the season on Sunday. He allowed four runs on ten hits and two walks over just 4.2 innings as the Twins fell 4-2 to the Mariners.

Our View: Slowey has been good this season after struggling in his first two starts, but he was not sharp on Sunday. The start bumped his ERA over 4.00 and he needed 94 pitches to get through 4.2 innings.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 6/2, 10:55 PM CT
Kevin Slowey was in command from the hill in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Indians at the Metrodome, as he only only issued two earned runs on six hits over 6.2 innings. He had two walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: Slowey has earned a win in each of his last three starts and allowed two runs in each of his last four. He has been the Twins' best pitcher, and leads the club with eight wins.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 5/27, 10:29 PM CT
Kevin Slowey bumped his record up to 7-1 on the year with his 4-2 win over the Red Sox on Wednesday. Slowey went six innings and allowed two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out five.

Our View: Slowey's 7-1 record is outstanding, but he really hasn't been as good as his record would indicate. His ERA is at 4.11, which isn't bad by any means, but you would think a pitcher who is 7-1 would be lower. He is a solid fantasy option, but his win total may not continue at this pace all season.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 5/22, 11:37 PM CT
Kevin Slowey won his sixth game of the season as the Twins downed the Brewers 11-3 on Friday. He gave up eight hits over 7.1 innings of work. He struck out four batters and allowed two earned runs.

Our View: Slowey has walked a mere four batters in 55.1 innings of work this season and he is starting only allowed five runs over his last three starts. He should remain a good source of production going forward.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 5/17, 4:12 PM CT
Kevin Slowey threw 7.2 strong innings in Yankee Stadium on Sunday, but the Twins still suffered a 3-2 loss in 10 innings. The pitcher struck out eight hitters, while allowing two runs, seven hits, and no walks in the game.

Our View: Slowey is a bit of a fly ball pitcher so his ability to limit the damage against the Yankees in their stadium is admirable. Still, he has now given up eight home runs in 48 innings of work. That rate needs to come down if he plans on fulfilling his expectations.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 5/12, 11:11 PM CT
Kevin Slowey won his fifth game of the season on Tuesday with a very strong performance against the Tigers. He allowed just one run on eight hits and two walks over six innings as the Twins won 6-2.

Our View: Slowey is now 5-1 on the season, but his ERA is at 4.91. He's getting the run support, but outs are at a premium for him right now and he hasn't looked like the solid fantasy starter we expected. However, the return of Joe Mauer has helped the Twins' staff immensely and Slowey should end up with more starts like tonight's with Joe behind the plate.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 5/7, 12:03 AM CT
Kevin Slowey picked up his first loss of the year as he allowed three runs in three innings against the Orioles in a rain shortened, six inning contest.

Our View: Slowey allowed all three runs in the first, and his mates could never overcome that deficit as they scored only once in the game. Slowey didn't walk a batter as his ERA rose to 5.50 in the early going.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 5/2, 1:03 AM CT
Kevin Slowey picked up his fourth win on Friday, going five innings and allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out four. He is still undefeated on the year.

Our View: Slowey hasn't been dominating this year, but he is sitting at 4-0. His offense bailed him out tonight, but you have to wonder how long he can keep winning with an ERA over 5.00.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 4/25, 9:27 PM CT
Kevin Slowey delivered eight solid innings of one-run ball in the Twins 7-1 win over Cleveland. He allowed eight hits and no walks against seven strikeouts.

Our View: Slowey is off to a 3-0 start and has been the best pitcher in the Twins rotation. Despite allowing 10 runs in his first two starts, he has rebounded well to five up just three runs in his last 15 innings of work.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 4/18, 10:12 PM CT
Kevin Slowey returned to form on Saturday and was rewarded with the win in the Twins 9-2 victory against the Angels. He threw seven strong innings, allowing just two runs on six hits and a walk. He struck out five on the day.

Our View: Looks like watching tape really worked for Slowey. He found a mechanical flaw in his rotation earlier in the week and looks to have remedied his struggles. Today's outing is what we expected from Slowey all along.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 4/15, 8:05 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Twins starter Kevin Slowey noticed a mechanical error in his delivery, which contributed to his 7.94 ERA to this point.

Our View: Apparently he watched tape of his last start and noticed what he was doing wrong. He worked on slowing down his delivery in a bullpen session Wednesday. The Twins and Slowey owners alike hope he's right, because this is not the start that any of them expected from the promising young hurler.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 4/8, 10:28 PM CT
Kevin Slowey wasn't sharp on Wednesday, but he got the win regardless. He allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings and struck out five.

Our View: Twins fans and fantasy owners are expecting a lot out of Slowey this season. He's one of the game's promising young arms and while he doesn't strikeout a lot of hitters he has exceptional command and changes speeds well. He only allowed 24 walks in 160+ innings last year.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 4/3, 3:12 PM CT
Kevin Slowey allowed one earned run on five hits over five innings of work in Friday's 4-4 tie against the Pirates, with two walks and two strikeouts. The game ended after 10 innings.

Our View: Slowey pitched well this spring, and the 24-year-old hurler should build upon a solid 2008 campaign in which he held a 1.15 WHIP over 27 starts, with three complete games and two shutouts.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 3/29, 4:58 PM CT
Kevin Slowey scattered eight hits over six innings against the Cardinals on Sunday to secure his second victory of the spring.

Our View: Slowey allowed just two runs, both of which came on a Rick Ankiel home run. Despite his 11 losses a season ago, Slowey finished with a 3.99 ERA, which indicates he received limited run support during many quality starts.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 3/24, 3:10 PM CT
Kevin Slowey only allowed one earned run on two hits over five innings in Tuesday's 8-1 win over the Marlins in the Grapefruit League, with no walks and five strikeouts. He also went 2-for-2 with three RBI as a hitter.

Our View: This outing further solidifies his ranking as a top-15 fantasy hurler for 2009. He holds a 1.88 ERA in spring action.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 3/14, 4:17 PM CT
Kevin Slowey struck out five over four shutout innings against the Marlins on Saturday. He allowed two hits and walked one.

Our View: Slowey has some of the best command in the big leagues, but that does not always keep the ball in the park. He is a good pitcher, and at 25 years old, he has the type of indicators that project for a successful career.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 3/9, 2:42 PM CT
Kevin Slowey allowed two earned runs on four hits over 3.1 innings of work in Monday's 4-3 win over the Rays, with no walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Slowey allowed two runs, but displayed good control today. The rising star remains worthy of drafting among the top-15 fantasy hurlers.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 3/1, 8:42 PM CT
Kevin Slowey pitched very well for the Twins on Sunday as he tossed two perfect innings in his start while striking out one batter.

Our View: Slowey was a decent fantasy option in 2008, going 12-11 with a 3.99 ERA in 27 starts. He pitched two shutouts and three complete games and would be a good mid-to-late round draft pick in 2009.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 9/29, 10:27 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Kevin Slowey played catch on Monday afternoon at the Metrodome for the first time since taking a Juan Uribe line drive off his right wrist in Thursday's game against the White Sox. The right-hander suffered a deep bruise as a result of the play. He's had limited mobility in the wrist due to the swelling. He could be back for the ALDS should the Twins beat the White Sox on Tuesday.

Our View: Slowey is one of the Twins best pitchers when he is on. He had a 3.99 ERA in 27 starts this season, good for a 12-11 record.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 9/26, 5:03 PM CT
Kevin Slowey's MRI came back clear and revealed no ligament damage in his pitching wrist, according to the AP.

Our View: This is good news, but it remains unclear when he will be able to pitch again.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 9/26, 10:21 AM CT
Kevin Slowey took a line drive off his right wrist on Thursday night but luckily x-rays showed no break, according to The Star Tribune. Slowey is scheduled to have an MRI on Friday in order to determine his availability for the rest of the season.

Our View: Slowey was in line to start a potential one game playoff game on Monday with the White Sox if the game was needed, but now that position is in great doubt. Slowey has been great this year with a 3.99 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and just 1.35 BB/9 and it would be terrible news to see his season end with an injury.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 9/25, 9:25 PM CT
The AP reports that Minnesota Twins righthander Kevin Slowey left Thursday’s game against the Chicago White Sox in the fourth inning with a right wrist contusion. Slowey appeared to injur himself while fielding an infield single and was taken to the hospital for X-rays. He allowed six runs - four earned - and five hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Our View: This was not the performance the Twins were looking for and the potential injury certainly makes it worse. Slowey is in danger of losing for the fourth time in five starts.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 9/20, 7:05 PM CT
Kevin Slowey was rocked for five earned runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Rays, with three walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Slowey is 1-3 over four starts in September, but has allowed three or less earned runs in three of the four. He should remain active in lineups for the closing week of the regular season.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 9/15, 9:11 PM CT
Kevin Slowey tried to keep the Twins in the game on Monday night, only allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings. But Slowey gave up two home runs to the Indians but also struck out six.

Our View: It's been a really good sign that Slowey has bounced back after holding a 5.63 ERA in July. In August and September, he's posted ERA marks of 2.92 and 3.38, respectively.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 9/10, 10:53 PM CT
Kevin Slowey allowed only one run over seven innings Wednesday night in the Twins, 7-1 win over the Royals. The Royals could only muster four hits against the Twins starter.

Our View: With the win against the Royals, Slowey recorded his 12th win of the year and has won five of his last seven starts. Slowey is an option now in all formats.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 9/4, 9:29 PM CT
Kevin Slowey only allowed three runs on Thursday night to the Jays, but he lost the effort thanks to a shutout by the Jays Jesse Litsch. On the evening Slowey 10 hits, but didn't walk a batter over 5.2 innings.

Our View: Slowey had gone 5-straight outings allowing one or two earned runs and he continues his befuddling strikeout work of late with games of one, 12, five, 10 and three K in his last five outings. Through 23 starts this season, Kevin owns a 3.75 ERA, a nice mark for sure when you call the AL home.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 8/30, 12:09 AM CT
Kevin Slowey was in control in Friday's 12-2 win against Oakland, as he only issued two earned runs on six hits over six innings, with one walk and 10 strikeouts.

Our View: He improves to 11-8, and has won four straight decisions. He should remain active in fantasy lineups in September as he aims to keep the Twins in playoff contention.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 8/24, 11:41 AM CT
Getting the call for the Twins, looking to battle against the Angels this afternoon, will be RHP Kevin Slowey , sitting at 10-8 with a 3.78 ERA, according to the Miami Herald. Slowey won his third straight start Tuesday against Oakland, as he gave up two runs (1 earned) and five hits in seven innings. He also struck out 12 without walking a batter.

Our View: Slowey is 1-1 in two starts against the Angels, while pitching to a 7.56 ERA in those contests.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 8/19, 10:12 PM CT
Kevin Slowey improved to 10-8 thanks to an excellent effort against the A's on Tuesday. He allowed five hits and two runs (one earned), walked none, and struck out a career-high 12 batters over seven innings.

Our View: Slowey is now 4-2 with a 2.77 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in six starts since the All-Star break. He had a few hiccups in July, but this 24-year-old appears to be the real deal.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 8/13, 3:26 PM CT
Kevin Slowey was in control in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Yankees, as he only surrendered one earned run on three hits over six innings, with one walk and one strikeout.

Our View: He improves to 9-8 and lowered his ERA to 3.94. He is 3-2 over his last five starts, and has allowed one earned run in each of his last two outings. Keep him active in fantasy lineups while he is pitching well.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 8/8, 11:08 PM CT
Kevin Slowey defeated the Royals on Friday night as he allowed one run and seven hits over 5.2 innings for the Twins. Slowey struck out two on the night and didn't walk a batter.

Our View: Slowey has made 29 career starts, and this was the 18th time he didn't walk a batter. As long as he continues to limit the walks, 1.3 per nine innings, his WHIP should continue to remain strong (1.11). Are we witnessing the birth of the next Greg Maddux?
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 8/2, 10:44 PM CT
Kevin Slowey surrendered five earned runs on six hits over six innings in Saturday's 5-1 loss to Cleveland, with no walks and seven strikeouts.

Our View: Slowey has three complete games and two shutouts to his credit this season, but has been erratic, and remains an unstable fantasy hurler. He falls to 7-8 over 17 starts.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 7/28, 9:48 PM CT
Kevin Slowey threw a complete game shutout against the Chicago White Sox on Monday night. He allowed six hits and one walk in the game.

Our View: Slowey had looked bad over his last three starts but he had his full arsenal working tonight. It was his third complete game of the season.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 7/22, 9:34 PM CT
The Twins couldn't get anything going in a positive direction against the Yanks this evening, falling 8-2 with a grand total of just five hits and a disappointing pitching performance from RHP Kevin Slowey . Slowey pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (all earned) over five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Slowey suffers his first loss since June 8th, earning four wins over his last six outings before this debacle (not bad for a guy with an infected fingernail).
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 7/13, 9:35 PM CT
According to the Twins team website, Kevin Slowey is suffering from an infected fingernail on his right middle finger. Minnesota's coaching staff became aware of the injury on Sunday morning after his poor performance against the Tigers that saw him last only 3.2 innings. "It wasn't an issue until last night, when it started getting really sore," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "It wasn't supposed to be an issue, now it's turned into an issue." Slowey said he noticed a change in his finger when he woke up on Friday morning following his start against Detroit on Thursday.

Our View: The training staff told him the injury wouldn't prevent him from pitching and that he's available if needed. The right-hander, who had been scheduled to start the first game of the second half, was moved to the end of the rotation. Left-hander Glen Perkins will now start the first game back on Friday and Livan Hernandez on Saturday versus the Rangers. Slowey will take the mound on Sunday.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 7/10, 5:23 PM CT
Kevin Slowey looked terrible on Thursday permitting nine hits, two walks and six runs over just 3.2 innings again the Tigers.

Our View: Luckily he got some run support and picked up a no-decision as the Twins eventually came back to win the game. Slowly has been torched for 11 runs over his last 9.2 innings as his ERA has risen from 3.47 to 4.26. He should right the ship, but there is little reason to expect him to produce a WHIP of 1.13 the rest of the way, so a bit of correction is likely in order.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 7/5, 10:23 PM CT
Kevin Slowey wasn't anywhere near his best on Saturday but he still held on long enough to pick up his sixth win of the year. Slowey had six strikeouts in the effort, but he gave up five runs in six innings on the hill.

Our View: Slowey has won his last four decisions and four of his last five starts. Over his last four outings, he has 20 K, four BB with a 2.00 ERA.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 6/29, 5:55 PM CT
The Twins continue to take out the best pitchers in the NL, and on Sunday, they can thank Kevin Slowey. The 24-year-old right-hander tossed a complete game shutout against the Brewers. He allowed three hits, walked nine, and struck out eight. "He was just painting," manager Ron Gardenhire informs the AP. Slowey currently owns a 16-inning scoreless streak.

Our View: Yes, this is the same guy who out-pitched Jake Peavy earlier in the week. Slowey was the Twins minor league pitcher of the year in 2007, and he is clearly getting more comfortable at the major league level. Of course, he'll go back to facing AL teams next week.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 6/18, 10:10 PM CT
Kevin Slowey won his second straight start and the Minnesota Twins beat the Washington Nationals 11-2 Wednesday night. Slowey allowed one run on seven hits, walked two and struck out four.

Our View: Slowey sure won't over power hitters, but as long as he can keep the ball in the park, he'll find success, especially against light-hitting teams like the Nationals.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 6/8, 6:05 PM CT
Minnesota RHP Kevin Slowey suffered through a horrific day on the mound as the Twins suffered the devastating 12-2 loss to the White Sox. Slowey lasted just three innings, surrendering eight runs (all earned) on 10 hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: Slowey appeared to be getting on track with consecutive wins at the end of May to end a string of four straight losses. This is his second loss in a row, giving up 12 earned runs through nine innings in those games.
Kevin Slowey, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 5/29, 10:48 PM CT
Kevin Slowey was magnificent on Thursday as he twirled a complete game victory over the Royals. Slowely allowed six hits, zero walks and only one run while throwing just 101 pitches, 74 of which were strikes.

Our View: Many times we worry about pitch counts for youngsters in complete games, so it was great to see Slowey pumping in strikes and keeping the pitch count low. Slowey has won his last two starts and he hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his six starts.

Kevin Slowey fell to 0-4 as he lost his fourth start of the year on Sunday. Slowey didn't pitch badly as he allowed seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings, but he was victimized by two long balls.

Our View: Slowey has now allowed six home runs in just 19.2 innings, which is why his ERA is high (5.49), despite a strong WHIP (1.17). He should remain a low end starting option until the Twins have their full compliment of starting pitchers.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, "Right-hander Kevin Slowey will be activated from the 15-day disabled list in time to start Thursday in Chicago against the White Sox while the Twins try to figure out what to do with injured right-hander Scott Baker.

Our View: Baker left his start Saturday after three innings, when he felt discomfort in his right groin muscle -- the second consecutive start he has left early because of the injury. Slowey has made only one start this season. In that start he lasted only 3.1 innings giving up three earned runs on four hits, walking none and striking out two. In the fourth inning of the game he injured the bicep on his throwing arm and has been on the disabled list since.

Our View: Slowey has thrown well during his rehab, and we think he can help out AL-only teams, at the least. The only downside is that he hasn't gone more than five innings in any outing this year.

He kept the ball down, pitched ahead in the count, did everything perfectly for what he's trying to accomplish."

Our View: Slowey will likely be called up by the Twins for a May 10 start, barring a setback.
