Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 10/2, 4:39 PM CT
Billy Buckner gave up three earned runs on six hits over 6.1 innings in Friday's 12-3 win at Chicago. He had four walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: Buckner did not have a strong performance, but his teammates provided plenty of offensive firepower for him to improve his record to 4-6. He is 2-0 over his last two starts, and has not suffered a loss over his last five.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 9/30, 10:58 AM CT
Updating a previous report, Diamondbacks' pitcher Billy Buckner will start Friday's game against the Cubs, according to MLB.com. Buckner picked up a victory in his last start against the Padres.

Our View: Buckner has pitched much better in his last few starts, and he has shown that he has the ability to strike hitters out. He has 18 K's in his last 17.1 innings pitched, so he can be successful if he can keep the ERA down.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 9/28, 12:58 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Diamondbacks' starter Billy Buckner will make his last start of the season either Friday or Saturday. Manager A.J. Hinch is expected to announce which day Buckner will start by Wednesday.

Our View: Buckner will start one of the two games, and Daniel Cabrera will start the other. Buckner is coming off his best start of the season in his win over the Padres yesterday, so he could close his 2009 season on a very bright note if he can pitch well this weekend.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 9/27, 8:10 PM CT
Billy Buckner earned his third win of the season on Sunday by holding the Padres to four runs on three hits and two walks over seven innings. He fanned seven as the D-Backs cruised to a 7-4 win.

Our View: The outing, while seemingly modest, was actually one of Buckner's best. The three hits allowed was a season-low and the seven Ks were one away from a season high. With wins at a premium for Arizona starters, Sunday was a god day for the young hurler.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 9/8, 11:51 PM CT
Billy Buckner turned in his first quality start since June 1 on Tuesday, a span of six starts, as he allowed just one run in seven innings. Buckner also did a great deal of Arizona's damage at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. The D-Backs would still go on to lose 5-4 to the Dodgers, however.

Our View: Don't be putting your eggs in the Billy Buckner basket down the stretch, though. It's a basket where playoff dreams will likely go to die.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 9/4, 12:19 AM CT
Billy Buckner fell to 2-6 on the season after his team's 4-2 loss to the Dodgers on Thursday. Buckner went six innings and allowed four runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out four.

Our View: Buckner has not been good in his time with the D-Backs this season, as he has an 8.29 ERA to go along with his six losses. He may stay in the rotation for the rest of the season after the trade to Jon Garland, but he may move back to the bullpen if he continues to struggle.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 8/31, 6:42 PM CT
Billy Buckner has been recalled by the Diamondbacks from Triple-A Reno, according to TSN. Closer Chad Qualls was placed on the 60-day DL as the adjoining move.

Our View: Buckner carries a dismal 8.63 ERA and 1.77 WHIP over 40.2 innings (seven starts) with Arizona this season, and only holds value in deeper leagues that feature middle men.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 6/27, 9:18 AM CT
According to the Arizona Republic, the Diamondbacks optioned struggling starter Billy Buckner to Triple-A after his miserable start on Friday night.

Our View: Buckner allowed eight runs in two innings Friday night and needs to get something figured out before he can be trusted to pitch at the Major League level. If he does return eventually, he'd likely head to the bullpen.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 6/27, 12:15 AM CT
Billy Buckner was lit up for eight earned runs on seven hits over a mere 1.2 innings in Friday's 12-3 loss to the Angels at Chase Field. He had one walk and no strikeouts.

Our View: Buckner falls to 2-5, and his ERA rises to 8.63. He has given up 26 earned runs over his last four starts, and is not fit for fantasy duty.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 6/21, 12:18 AM CT
Billy Buckner was hit with his fourth loss of the season on Saturday as the Diamondbacks fell to the Mariners 7-3. Buckner went six innings and allowed four runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out seven.

Our View: The seven strikeouts were nice, but Buckner has still been below average this season. He should not be looked at for fantasy duty unless you are in an NL-only league and desperate.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 6/10, 12:44 AM CT
Billy Buckner was rocked for eight earned runs on 13 hits over 5.2 innings in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to the Giants at Chase Field. He had no walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: Buckner has been erratic this season, and will remain a risky fantasy hurler.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 6/3, 10:28 AM CT
According to the Arizona Republic, Billy Buckner's next start will be pushed back to Tuesday due to an off day on Thursday.

Our View: The rest of the rotation will move up a day to compensate. Buckner is coming off a win and should remain in the rotation for the foreseeable future.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksTuesday 6/2, 12:29 AM CT
Billy Buckner was in control from the hill, as he only allowed four hits over six scoreless innings in Monday's 3-2 win at Los Angeles. He had two walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: He improves to 2-1 for the season, with both of his wins coming on the road. He bounced back strong after giving up five earned runs in his previous outing against the Padres.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 5/22, 11:59 PM CT
Billy Buckner lasted 7.1 innings in his first start of 2009. He allowed five hits, two walks, and one earned run while picking up the victory in Friday's 2-1 win over Oakland.

Our View: Buckner didn't waste many pitches tonight, and his defense backed him up. He was awful in relief during his first stint with the D'Backs this season, so look for them to try and continue to develop him as a starter. He won't face many offenses as lacking as the A's, so don't run out and grab him unless you are in a deep or keeper league.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 5/22, 3:29 PM CT
The Arizona Diamondbacks have recalled Billy Buckner from Triple-A to start Friday against the A's. Buckner is 0-0 with a 15.75 ERA in three relief appearances with the team this season.

Our View: Buckner has been pitching well in the minors, but he gave up seven runs in just four innings of relief with the D-Backs before being sent down earlier this season. He is getting his chance, but he has no fantasy value right now.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 8/25, 8:15 AM CT
Billy Buckner has been recalled from Triple-A Tucson, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View: The team brought in Buckner in case Doug Davis was unable to pitch deep into Sunday's game. Davis was dealing with a back/ribcage injury. Buckner will hold no fantasy value as a long reliever during his stint with the team.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 7/19, 8:25 PM CT
The D'Backs recalled Billy Buckner from Triple-A Tucson Saturday to replace the injured Doug Slaten on the roster. Buckner allowed two runs in 2 2/3 innings earlier this year with the D'Backs. He holds a 4.73 ERA in 19 starts with Tucson.

Our View: Buckner will work as a long man out of the pen. He holds no fantasy value.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 6/15, 4:08 PM CT
Billy Buckner has been optioned to Triple-A Tucson, according to the AP. The team recalled righty Leo Rosales from Tucson.

Our View: Buckner allowed two runs and four hits (two homers) over 2.2 innings of work with Arizona this season. He held no fantasy value prior to his demotion.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 6/14, 12:28 AM CT
Billy Buckner, who was recalled from Triple-A Tuscon on Friday night, pitched a scoreless top of the tenth inning to get his first victory of the season in a 1-0 win over Kansas City.

Our View: The D'Backs bullpen was overused in the three-game series at Shea so the staff brought Buckner up from southern Arizona to add a fresh arm to the pen. He was needed and fortunate enough to pitch himself into his first win of the season.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksFriday 6/13, 8:12 PM CT
Billy Buckner was recalled from Triple-A Tuscon on Friday and Max Scherzer was optioned to the team top affiliate.

Our View: Buckner started 14 games for the Sidewinders, going 4-5 with a 4.48 ERA. His fantasy value rests in deep NL-only formats that reward holds.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 9/2, 9:06 AM CT
Billy Buckner will start for the Royals Tuesday when they face the Rangers. "That’s what I’ve always done," he told the KC Star. "So that’s what I’m most comfortable with, but it’s exciting all over again." Buckner, who was 9-7 with a 3.78 ERA with Triple-A Omaha before being called up last week, will replace Leo Nunez in the rotation.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksSaturday 8/25, 8:49 AM CT
The Royals purchased the contract of Billy Buckner from Triple-A Ohama prior to Friday's game. Buckner's one of the Royals' top pitching prospects and will work in relief. He had a 9-7 record with a 3.78 ERA working as a starter for Omaha this season.
Billy Buckner, P, Arizona DiamondbacksWednesday 6/27, 9:50 AM CT
Billy Buckner , one of the Royals’ top pitching prospects, continues to impress at Triple-A Omaha and could be close to getting called up if Jorge De La Rosa continues to struggle. “He has been pitching very well,” Royals farm director J.J. Picollo told the Kansas City Star. “And he is close. Tough to put a timeframe on it, but he has made good progress. He has been the most consistent of the top guys we have.” Buckner is 7-2 with a 3.86 ERA and has allowed just three earned runs in 21 innings over his last three starts.
