Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 3/16, 3:41 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens made his spring debut on Tuesday, giving up three runs off five hits over three innings.

Our View: At least his control was on, as he didn't walk anybody, and he also struck out two. It wasn't a sharp performance for Jurrjens, but he should improve as he gets back into playing shape.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 3/11, 7:55 PM CT
According to Knox Bardeen on Twitter, Jair Jurrjens will make his spring debut on Friday.

Our View: Jurrjens has yet to pitch due to shoulder inflammation, but his recovery process went smoothly and was setback free. He was slated to start Thursday, but the game was rained out, so Friday is the new day. He is expected to throw two innings before being piggybacked by Tommy Hanson, who will get four frames.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 3/11, 12:18 PM CT
Weather permitting, Jair Jurrjens will make his spring debut on Thursday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: It has been rainy in South Florida all day, however, so he could be pushed until tomorrow. He could also just throw a simulated game later today. Stay tuned.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 3/8, 7:47 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens has been slated to pitch in Thursday's exhibition game against the Yankees, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: Jurrjens has recovered well from his bout with shoulder inflammation. He will throw batting practice tomorrow, and will take the mound Thursday if he fares fine without an issue.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 3/7, 10:21 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens (shoulder) threw a pain-free batting practice session on Sunday morning, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien.

Our View: Jurrjens is now expected to take two days off, throw batting practice on Wednesday, then take another two days off before making his 2010 spring training debut on Saturday against Toronto. At this point, there's no need to hold Jurrjens' minor shoulder issue against him when considering him on draft day.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 3/5, 3:32 PM CT
Fresh off of three-straight successful mound sessions, Jair Jurrjens will throw batting practice on Sunday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. If that goes well, he will make his first start of the spring on March 11.

Our View: He has long been over his minor shoulder issues, and can be drafted as normal in all formats.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 3/5, 11:03 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens (shoulder) had another pain-free mound session on Friday, and should soon be cleared to begin throwing live batting practice, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

Our View: This, of course, makes it three straight times that he has thrown without pain in his shoulder. He can safely be drafted in all formats.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 3/3, 10:53 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens (shoulder) had another successful bullpen session on Wednesday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: He threw 30-to-35 pitches without incident. After one or two more bullpen sessions, he is likely to make his first start of the spring. His shoulder injury is old news.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 3/1, 6:41 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens threw his first bullpen session of spring training Monday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He threw 15 pitches, and displayed good zip and movement.

Our View: Jurrjens was pain-free, and skipper Bobby Cox felt his session was excellent. This is good news, as the young hurler has been dealing with shoulder inflammation. He is coming off a 14-win season, and could be a solid fantasy hurler for 2010 if healthy.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 2/27, 4:34 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens appears to be completely over his shoulder injury, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: He will likely throw his first bullpen session of the spring on Monday. It sounds as if this whole minor, but alarming, episode should not be a concern when you consider drafting him.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 2/27, 3:14 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Jair Jurrjens (shoulder) is expected to make his first spring training start the first or second week of March, according to David O'Brien on Twitter.

Our View: Jurrjens will require three or four more side sessions, starting on Monday, but ultimately this has to be considered good news. The Braves seem to have dodged a devastating bullet with the shoulder injury and it appears their rotation will be intact to start the regular season. Barring any setbacks of course.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 2/27, 1:33 PM CT
According to Mark Bowman on Twitter, Jair Jurrjens (shoulder) threw another long-toss session on Saturday.

Our View: He is steadily improving and is expected to throw another long-toss session in the next few days and then take a day off before returning to the mound. Don't expect the Braves to rush him though, as he's arguably the most important piece of their rotation.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 2/24, 11:56 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens' achy shoulder has "improved each day" of late, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is doing some long-tossing on Wednesday.

Our View: Sounds like this whole episode will turn out to be nothing more than a minor scare, but hold off final judgment until he gets a spring start or two under his belt.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 2/23, 10:22 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens will play catch for the second time in three days on Tuesday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The young hurler has been dealing with shoulder tightness in recent days.

Our View: Tentatively, he is on track to start a Spring Training game in two weeks. This is very good news, but you still have to wonder what kind of toll the 215 innings the 24-year-old pitcher threw last season are ultimately going to take. Don't necessarily let him free-fall in your drafts, but maybe temper your expectations.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 2/19, 4:32 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens won't throw for 1-2 weeks while recovering from tightness in his right shoulder, according to TSN.

Our View: Jurrjens is expected to be ready to go for the start of the season, and he should not be red-flagged in fantasy drafts as of now. He could be Atlanta's No. 1 hurler following the departure of Javier Vazquez to New York.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 2/17, 10:07 AM CT
MRI results on Jair Jurrjens' shoulder revealed no structural damage, according to MLB.com. "It's a big relief," Jurrjens said. "I wasn't worried. But any time they start talking about having to have an MRI, it's not something you want to hear."

Our View: It looks like Jurrjens is simply dealing with inflammation and tightness in his shoulder, which should subside before long. He should resume throwing in the next few days, and as long as he doesn't experience any further setbacks, this whole situation should not be held against Jurrjens come draft day.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 2/15, 6:44 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens is slated for an MRI on his sore pitching shoulder, according to David O'Brien's (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) twitter page.

Our View: Jurrjens has been dealing with mild soreness for a few days. As of now, the rising star's fantasy stock should not drop.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 10/3, 7:13 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was stellar on Saturday, but the Braves bullpen faltered and he was denied his 15th win. The right-hander allowed just two runs on five hits and three walks over eight innings and fanned nine in a 6-4 loss to the Nationals.

Our View: Jurrjens finishes the 2009 season with the third best ERA (2.60) in the National League and became the anchor of an up and coming Braves rotation. His 14 wins were a career high.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 9/28, 9:11 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens only issued five hits over seven scoreless innings in Monday's 4-0 win over the Marlins at Turner Field. He had one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens earned his 14th win, topping his total of 13 from 2008. He is 4-0 over his last four starts, and trimmed his ERA to 2.61.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 9/22, 10:50 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens dazzled against the Mets on Tuesday, allowing just one run on five hits and three walks over seven innings in the 3-1 win.

Our View: Jurrjens has been unbelievable this season and has posted eight consecutive quality starts. He's allowed just two runs over his last 22 innings.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 9/17, 10:49 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens made quick work of the Mets on Thursday, allowing just one earned run in seven innings. He improved to 12-10 on the season, as the Braves won 7-3 at home.

Our View: Jurrjens' ERA is now a sparkling 2.75 through 193 innings in 2009, good for fifth best in the National League.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 9/11, 10:20 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens only issued six hits over eight scoreless innings in Friday's 1-0 win at St. Louis. He had two walks and seven strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens pitched great tonight, but it was too bad the Braves did not let him try for a complete game shutout. He now has a winning record at 11-10, and trimmed his ERA to 2.81.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 9/5, 9:17 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens gave up three earned runs on four hits over seven innings in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Reds at Turner Field. He had three walks with four strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens was handed a loss, and now has an even record at 10-10. He only has one win over his last five starts, but allowed two or less earned runs four times over that span.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/30, 10:54 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens deserved better than to be handed his ninth loss of the season on Sunday. He held the Phillies to three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks over seven innings, but the Braves fell 3-2.

Our View: Jurrjens doesn't get a lot of offensive support and it seems odd that he holds a 10-9 record with a sparkling 2.89 ERA. He's only earned one win in August despite pitching well.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/25, 10:43 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was good on Tuesday, but he did not factor into the decision as the Braves fell to the Padres 2-1 in 12 innings. Jurrjens went 7.2 innings and allowed one run on five hits while walking four and striking out seven.

Our View: Jurrjens is just another piece of what has become an excellent pitching staff in Atlanta. His ERA was lowered again tonight, and it is now down to 2.91 on the year. He has double-digit wins, and has become one of the more reliable fantasy starters available.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/19, 10:59 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was solid on Wednesday in the Braves' 15-2 blowout of the Mets. Jurrjens went six innings and allowed two runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out four.

Our View: Jurrjens was good tonight, but he didn't really have to be since his offense spotted him 15 runs. Jurrjens has 10 wins on the season, and his ERA is now under 3.00 at 2.99. He is a solid play, especially with the Braves getting hot.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 8/14, 9:04 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens limited the Phillies' powerful offense to just two runs in seven innings on Friday night, but took a no-decision, as Philadelphia picked up a run in the ninth to win 3-2.

Our View: Jurrjens had allowed nine combined runs in his past two starts, but got his ERA back below 3.00 on Friday night, and looks to be back on track.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/2, 11:28 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens has had better outings. He was touched for four runs on ten hits and a pair of walks over just five innings on Sunday. He took the loss as the Braves fell 9-1.

Our View: Jurrjens did have five Ks, but aside from that the start was a bummer. He's been nothing short of brilliant all season though, so a he's allowed a dud every once in a while. Continue to start him every five days.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 7/28, 10:30 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens did not factor into the decision on Tuesday as the Braves fell to the Marlins 4-3. Jurrjens went six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out five.

Our View: Jurrjens matched Ricky Nolasco almost pitch for pitch tonight, and when the two pitchers left the game it was tied at two. Jurrjens has put together some nice starts as of late, and he remains a reliable fantasy starter in all formats.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 7/22, 8:51 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens outdueled Tim Lincecum on Wednesday, striking out nine Giants in 7.1 innings of a 4-2 Braves victory.

Our View: He also only allowed one walk, and saw his WHIP dip to 1.20 and ERA to 2.67. His solid sophomore campaign continues.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/17, 11:01 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was solid again on Friday as the Braves pounded the Mets 11-0. Jurrjens went six scoreless innings and allowed two hits while walking two and striking out one. He is now 8-7 on the year.

Our View: Jurrjens has been solid as of late, and it is starting to look like he is a good option once again. He should be owned in all leagues at this point unless you are in a very shallow mixed league.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 7/11, 11:10 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens only allowed two earned runs on five hits over six innings in Saturday's 4-3 win at Colorado. He had three walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens earned a win for his solid effort, and evened his record to 7-7. He has two wins over three starts so far this month, after going 0-4 over five outings in June.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 7/6, 9:10 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens wasn't awful but did little to excite his fantasy owners on Monday, allowing four runs off seven hits and three walks while striking out just one against the Cubs. He fell to 6-7 on the season.

Our View: Jurrjens' ERA is still below three, though you can't expect that figure to hold up for much longer. He still should be a fine option at pitcher, just not quite as fine as he had been over the first two months this season.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 7/1, 8:47 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was masterful on Wednesday night, surrendering just one run, and one hit, in seven innings while striking out six in the Braves 11-1 pummeling of Philadelphia.

Our View: Jurrjens continues to show no sign off a drop-off after his fast start to 2009, and now has a sparkling 2.73 ERA and 1.24 WHIP through 102.1 innings pitched. You could still maybe sell high on him, but it doesn't appear likely he will suffer any significant regression in '09.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 6/26, 9:54 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits over eight innings in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Red Sox at Turner Field. He had three walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens now has a losing record at 5-6, despite a solid 2.93 ERA. He has taken a loss in four of his last five starts, and hasn't collected a win since May 29 at Arizona.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 6/21, 3:56 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was knocked around on Sunday, but his ERA didn't suffer all that badly due to some costly errors. He allowed five runs (just two earned) on eight hits and a walk over 6.1 innings and did not factor in the decision.

Our View: Jurrjens struck out six in the game and recorded just his second quality start since May 24th. Still, the crafty Braves' hurler has been very good this season with a 2.89 ERA and just four home runs allowed in 81 innings.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 6/16, 11:34 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens took the loss on Tuesday, but pitched only two innings because of a two hour rain delay.

Our View: Jurrjens has blossomed into a star in 2009, and is a solid option in every format.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 6/10, 9:14 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens suffered another hard-luck loss on Wednesday as the Braves fell to the Pirates 3-2. He struck out seven in six innings, while allowing four hits, three walks, and two runs scored.

Our View: Jurrjens does not strike out many batters and he walks more than many starters, but he is usually good for a quality start and opponents are hitting only .243 off him in 79 innings.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 6/5, 9:16 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens struggled in Friday's 4-0 loss to the Brewers at Turner Field, as he gave up four earned runs on nine hits over seven innings. He had three walks with eight strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens falls to 5-3, and allowed nine earned runs over his last two starts. He was previously pitching very well this season, and should bounce back fine - meaning he should remain active in fantasy lineups.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 5/24, 6:52 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens surrendered just two runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings on Sunday. The Braves blasted the Blue Jays 10-2, but Jurrjens didn't factor in the decision.

Our View: Jurrjens' ERA now stands at a minuscule 2.07 on the season. The crafty righty is 4-2, and while he doesn't strike out many hitters (35 in 61 innings), he is still a solid fantasy option.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 5/19, 9:39 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was solid once again on Tuesday. He allowed just one run on three hits and three walks over seven innings as the Braves crushed the Rockies 8-1. Jurrjens fanned eight and improved to 4-2 on the season.

Our View: Jurrjens now has a sparkling 1.96 ERA and -with all apologies to Derek Lowe- is looking like the ace of the Braves staff. Today's performance was especially juicy for fantasy owners with the eight Ks. His low K/9 is the only "flaw" in his game so far.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 5/12, 10:46 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens had a rock-solid start on Tuesday, but was denied the victory when closer Mike Gonzalez blew it in the ninth. He scattered seven hits and a walk, giving up just two runs over 7.2 innings.

Our View: Jurrjens has been lights out all season and Tuesday's performance left his ERA at a minuscule 2.06. Five of his eight games have produced quality starts and he has yet to give up more than three earned runs in an outing this season.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 5/7, 2:11 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens allowed two earned runs on three hits over seven innings of work in Thursday's 4-2 win at Florida. He issued two walks with four strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens snapped a four-game skid without earning a win, and improves to 3-2 for the season.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/27, 9:36 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens surrendered just two runs in six innings of work, but took the loss to the Cardinals on Monday. He gave up six hits and two walks, while striking out two hitters.

Our View: After picking wins in his first two starts, Jurrjens has received only three runs of support in his last three outings. His ERA stands at an impressive 1.72, but his record is only 2-2. We expect the wins to come.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/22, 8:43 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens threw 7.2 shutout innings as the Braves defeated the Nationals 1-0 on Wednesday. He scattered six hits and two walks, while striking out four. However, he got stuck with a no decision as the Braves did not score their run until the top of the ninth.

Our View: While Jurrjens is not a strikeout pitcher, he is a very smart and effective hurler. He has dominated the Nationals in three career starts against them, yet he has never been credited with a win against them.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 4/17, 9:10 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens took a tough-luck loss on Friday night. He held the Pirates to four hits and one run over 6.2 innings, but the Braves offense failed to score. Jurrjens walked two and struck out seven. His ERA slid to 2.04 on the young season.

Our View: Jurrjens was lucky to get a win when he had a shaky outing against the Nationals on Sunday, so we supposed this evens his karma. He had some control problems in earlier outings, but he was obviously sharp tonight.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/12, 4:23 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was not as his best but still managed to earn the win in the Braves 8-5 victory over the Nationals on Sunday. He gave up five hits and five walks against just one strike out while allowing three earned runs in 5.1 innings of work.

Our View: Jurrjens normally exhibits better control than he has through his first two starts in 2009. He has walked eight batters in 11 innings, but we expect that number to normalize and drop over the course of the season.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 4/7, 9:33 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens recorded his first win of the season Tuesday against the Phillies. He blanked Philadelphia over five and two-third innings and allowed just four hits.

Our View: Jurrjens did throw 96 pitches and was not extended like fantasy owners would prefer, but considering it's his first start of the season, manager Bobby Cox probably made the right call by giving him the hook.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 4/2, 3:42 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens allowed one run (not earned) on five hits over four innings in Thursday's 2-1 win over Houston, with no walks and one strikeout.

Our View: Jurrjens will be the No. 2 starter in the Braves' rotation behind Derek Lowe, and should build upon a good 2008 campaign in which he won 13 games while maintaining a 1.37 WHIP over 188.1 innings.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 3/30, 9:59 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens will start the Braves' second game of the regular season behind No. 1 starter Derek Lowe, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: This is surprising, as Javier Vazquez was expected to follow Lowe. Jurrjens won 13 games over 31 starts last season, and could serve as a nice starting pitcher for fantasy leagues in 2009.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 3/28, 4:19 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens and the Braves fell to the Yankees, 6-4 on Saturday, as Jurrjens went 5.0 innings, allowing nine hits and three earned runs.

Our View: Jurrjens has been solid this spring, with a 3.20 ERA. He's not an upper-echelon starter for fantasy owners, but he can be useful in the middle or back of rotations.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 3/22, 7:06 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens gave up four hits, two walks, and an earned run in 4.2 innings of work against the Mets on Sunday. He also struck out three hitters in the game.

Our View: Jurrjens has allowed six runs over 20.1 innings this spring. While he has not been dominant, he knows how to induce timely ground balls and strands a lot of runners. His WHIP will never be overly impressive, but his ERA should always remain pretty solid.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 3/17, 2:36 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens fired four scoreless innings, with four hits allowed, in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Mets, with no walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: This was a strong performance, namely as he did not allow any walks, which was a weakness last season. His fantasy stock is on the rise.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 3/12, 4:04 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens allowed two runs on three hits and a pair of walks in his four innings of work on Thursday. He failed to strike anyone out and his spring ERA now stands at an unimpressive 4.66.

Our View: Jurrjens had impressive numbers last season even though he faded down the stretch. Regardless of what he's done this spring, his numbers should improve with more experience in the league and additional knowledge of hitters. He needs to cut down on his walks a bit though before becoming truly dominant.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 3/7, 3:16 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens struck out three batters and gave up one run in 3.2 innings in the Braves 3-1 win over the Yankees on Saturday. He gave up four hits but walked none.

Our View: The 23-year-old has nice command of his unimpressive stuff and as he gets to know hitters better, expect him to improve his numbers. Despite struggling later in 2008, he still managed a 13-10 record with a 3.68 ERA.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 2/25, 3:04 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens had a rough outing in today's 5-4 loss to the Tigers, as he issued two earned runs, four hits and one walk over two innings, with no strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens could reach 200 innings this season, but his low strikeout totals will leave a bit to be desired as a fantasy hurler.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 2/15, 3:54 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens will not represent the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Jurrjens seemed to have worn down towards the end of last season, and taking part in the WBC may hvae expecidted that collapse this season. Now on his regular schedule, look for Jurrjens to improve on his respectable 2008 numbers. He still walks more hitters than we would like, but that's the type of issue that can be resolved with experience and better conditioning.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 9/26, 8:18 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens is going to skip his final start Sunday so Mike Hampton can get one more chance to prove what he can do, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Jurrjens has pitched 188.1 innings this season, but is not tired and is still physically fine. He won 13 games this season with a 3.68 ERA and 1.37 WHIP and has nothing left to prove.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 9/22, 9:32 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens lasted seven innings on Monday allowing the Phillies to score two runs on five hits and a walk. He also struck out one.

Our View: Jurrjens has a 3.68 ERA after 31 starts in a pretty remarkable performance for a guy who entered the year with all of 30.2 innings pitched in the majors though his performance has clearly faltered over his last 13 appearances (4.66 ERA).
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 9/11, 9:48 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens won his second straight start on Thursday night against the Rockies. It wasn't Jurrjens best start but lasted long enough to get the win. In six innings he gave up four runs on eight hits but did strike out 10 Rockies.

Our View: Jurrjens was in a slump in August, going 1-3 and an ERA of 5.73 but has won both of his starts in September. If you are in a deep league and are looking for some innings he could be an option.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 9/5, 10:11 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens picked up his first win since August 9th on Friday night against the Nationals. It took him 98 pitches to get through five innings, after which he was pulled. He gave up six hits and one run while walking three and striking out six.

Our View: This should help him snap out of his funk. He was 1-3 with a 5.73 ERA in August. Jurrjens is a better pitcher than that and he should return to form in September.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/31, 3:48 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens threw an average game for the Braves, allowing three runs in six innings to Washington, though he did strike out seven in the Braves 8-4 loss.

Our View: Jurrjens has had a good season for Atlanta, but has struggled mightily in August. However, it is possible that this performance will be a steppingstone to success the rest of the way. Or at least that's what fantasy owners hope.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/26, 10:22 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens allowed six runs on six hits and two walks over just three innings Tuesday. Atlanta's late rally kept him from picking up his 10th loss.

Our View: This is Jurrjens' seven straight poor outing, and it's possible he could be wearing down.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 8/15, 10:26 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was dynamite for the Braves Friday, allowing just two runs on eight hits while striking out nine over seven innings. He picked up his eighth loss, though, as Matt Cain was just a bit better.

Our View: Jurrjens just might be your NL Rookie of the Year with a 3.15 ERA in 24 starts.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/9, 11:42 PM CT
The Braves relied on bats for the win, beating up on the Diamondbacks 11-4, though RHP Jair Jurrjens put forth a solid effort on the mound. Jurrjens pitched six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens moves to 11-7 on the season with an ERA of 3.18. He has allowed three earned runs in each of his last three outings with eight walks and 11 strikeouts along the way.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/5, 12:03 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens saw his record drop to 10-7 after losing to the Giants 4-2 on Monday. He went six innings, walking three, striking out one and giving up three earned runs.

Our View: Jurrjens has been a pleasant surprise, and is now the ace of the staff with Smoltz, Glavine and Hudson all suffering from injuries.

Jair Jurrjens pitched a solid game on Wednesday night but he still lost his sixth game of the season. Jair held the Cardinals to three runs over seven innings allowing seven hits while issuing three walks.

Our View: Jurrjens continues to impress with a 3.06 ERA through 21 starts. With the recent injury to Tim Hudson, the team will continue to lean on this youngster for more effective work down the stretch.

Braves hurler Jair Jurrjens won his tenth game of the year, dominating the Phillies by throwing eight innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs while striking out six.

Our View: Jurrjens continues to be one of the most underrated pitchers in the National League, and his ERA is now at 3.02.

Jair Jurrjens may not be receiving as much publicity as some other young arms like Edinson Volquez of the Reds, but that doesn't mean that he hasn't had a great start to his major league career with the Braves, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Our View: Jurrjens leads NL rookies in wins (nine) and is second in ERA (3.00). Jurrjens, Jo-Jo Reyes, Jorge Campillo and Charlie Morton have teamed to replace John Smoltz, Tom Glavine and Mike Hampton to give the Braves the arms they have needed in a depleted rotation.

Jair Jurrjens has been named the NL Rookie of the Month for June, according to the AP. Jurrjens went 3-0 with a 1.63 ERA over four starts in the month, and didn't allow an earned run in his last three outings.

Our View: Jurrjens is 9-4 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.32 WHIP overall. Other nominees for the monthly honor were Cardinals' righty Mitchell Boggs, Ryan Bowker of the Giants, and Padres' second baseman Edgar Gonzalez.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 7/3, 8:45 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens didn't throw a quality start but allowing four runs on eight hits in seven innings of work against the hard-hitting Phillies lineup is nothing to be ashamed of.

Our View: The rookie walked one and struck out six in his fourth loss of the season.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 6/27, 9:23 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens hurled eight scoreless innings, with only three hits allowed, in Friday's 4-0 win over the Blue Jays, with one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Jurrjens is now 8-3 and trimmed his ERA to 2.94. He has won three of his last four starts, and impressively hasn't allowed a earned run in the last three.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 6/27, 7:33 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens joins veteran All Star Time Hudson as the only Atlanta starter from Week 1 that was still healthy, this according to the team website. Three of the Braves' five starters -- Charlie Morton, 24, Jo-Jo Reyes, 23, and Jurrjens, 22 -- are under the age of 25, and none has more than a year of Major League experience. "Those three, my gosh, they're holding this together," said second baseman Kelly Johnson. "They're the reason why we're four or five games out instead of 10."

Our View: With less than three weeks before the All-Star break, the Braves are four games back of the first-place Phillies in the National League East. Considering the team doesn't have a core of veterans (John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, Hampton and Chipper Jones) that aren't nursing some kind of injury, the team has performed well. If the Braves remain close at the All Star break the chances of the front office reaching out for help is more likely.

Jair Jurrjens will be targeting his eighth win of the season tonight when the Braves host the Mariners, according to MLB.com. He is 7-3 over 14 starts, with a 3.43 ERA and passable 1.43 WHIP.

Our View: Jurrjens is coming off a strong outing as he threw 7.2 scoreless innings against the Rockies (on June 16), with seven strikeouts, and should be in your fantasy rotation against the American League's worst team.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 6/16, 10:21 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens improved to 7-3 after holding the Rockies scoreless for 7.2 innings on Monday night.

Our View: This was a great bounce back effort for a guy who was torched for 20 hits and 11 runs his last two outings. Jurrjens is still an above average pitcher, so don't let the previous two outings sway your from having faith in the right hander that the Tigers sorely wish they had held on to.

Jair Jurrjens has been slowed by a twisted ankle, and there was a possibility he could be headed to the DL, but is expected to make his start tonight against the Rockies, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He had his last start on Wednesday scratched due to the bum ankle. Jurrjens is 6-3 this season with a 3.77 ERA, but has given up four homers in his last three starts, and Colorado is the worst possible place he can pitch right now.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 6/11, 12:47 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens may be headed to the DL, according to MLB.com. While walking down the dugout stairs after Tuesday night's loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field, the young starter twisted his right ankle. The Braves will use Jeff Bennett to start Wednesday night's game.

Our View: If Jurrjens heads to the DL, then only Tim Hudson will remain from the opening day rotation. Charlie Morton, who has gone 4-2 with a 2.05 ERA for Triple-A Richmond, will likely start in Glavine's place on Sunday, when the Braves play the Angels before ESPN's nationally-televised audience.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 6/1, 3:41 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens has a blister on his right thumb, and he reluctantly admits that it might be the reason for some of his issues. "It's just my location and my velocity is down a little bit," Jurrjens tells MLB.com. "I don't know. Maybe I'm just scared to put pressure on the thumb... If I didn't think I was going to be able to do the job, I'd have said something, but I took the ball, so there are no more excuses." Jurrjens has been treating the blister with cream and seeing some good results.

Our View: Jurrjens is slated to pitch against the Marlins on Thursday. It's not a bad idea to bench him in mixed leagues, provided you have a decent fill-in option.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 5/31, 6:53 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was rocked for six runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings in Saturday's 8-7 loss to Cincinnati. He also issued six walks with two strikeouts, and ended the night with a no decision, in a game that took 10 innings to decide.

Our View: That was a poor outing, but he has been pitching well, as he allowed two or less earned runs in six of his previous nine starts. He held a solid 2.86 ERA and 1.24 WHIP heading into tonight's game as well.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 5/14, 7:31 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens will work on short rest and start for the Braves on Friday. He threw 69 pitches in the first half of a doubleheader on Monday. "Sixty-nine pitches is nothing," manager Bobby Cox tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: Jurrjens will draw Rich Harden in the home game against the A's. That's not ideal, but this rookie right-hander was due to pitch over the weekend one way or another.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 5/12, 2:43 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens was dealt his third loss of the season on Monday, as Atlanta was shut out 5-0 against the Pirates in the top half of a double-header. Jurrjens surrendered three runs on three hits over five innings, with three walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: It was still a quality outing for him, and he only allowed one earned run in each of his previous two starts, with one total walk. He also held a strong 1.08 WHIP heading into today's game.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 5/11, 1:59 PM CT
Following Sunday's rainout, the Braves and Pirates will play a doubleheader on Monday. Jair Jurrjens and Zach Duke will battle in the earlier contest, followed by Tim Hudson and John Van Benschoten in the later game, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

Our View: Jurrjens now lines up for a two-start week, which is nice for those head-to-head fantasy leagues.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 5/6, 9:42 PM CT
Atlanta RHP Jair Jurrjens earned his fourth win of the season, pitching a gem to lead the Braves to a 5-3 win over the San Diego Padres. Jurrjens pitched six innings, allowing just one run on seven hits. Jurrjens also held the Padres to just one walk while striking out eight.

Our View: That's three wins for Jurrjens over his last four outings (including one no decision), touting 23 strike outs versus just eight walks.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/30, 7:53 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens continued his rise to prominence on Wednesday as he held the Nationals to just two hits and one run over seven innings, though he wasn't involved in the decision.

Our View: Jurrjens lowered his ERA to 3.05 and his WHIP to 1.04, and he is making a run at the surprise starting pitcher for the month of April award in the National League.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 4/25, 11:53 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens did his best imitation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on Friday night. The right-hander was perfect in the first two innings against on Friday night versus the Mets. He then proceeded to walk three consecutive batters with the bases loaded in the third. Then he retired his final 10 batters. Jurrjens was the recpient of Atlanta's 6-3 victory over division rival New York.

Our View: Jurrjens combined with four relievers for a Friday night two-hitter.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/20, 10:41 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens recorded his second win of the season on Sunday pitching three-hit ball over seven innings. The right-hander beat Japanese import, Hiroki Kuroda, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-1.

Our View: Jurrjens struck out countryman Andruw Jones three times on the day, and normally that would be considered a feat. However, the ex-Brave isn't hitting (.169) his weight and has showed little reason to believe he's working his way out of an April funk.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/2, 9:33 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens picked up his first victory in a Braves uniform as he limited the Pirates to just two runs in 5.1 innings. Jurrjens allowed seven hits and a walk on the night in a solid, but brief, first outing. With each solid outing, the prospects of Jurrjens remaining in the starting rotation will continue to grow.
Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 4/1, 2:49 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens will start his first game of 2008 on Wednesday against Pittsubrgh, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Brian McCann should catch that game and said, "He knows what he's doing on the mound. He's way more mature than 22 years old. He has a four-seam and a two-seam fastball, and he puts the ball where he wants to. He's going to be a front-line starter." That is certainly encouraging news from McCann.

Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 3/10, 5:36 PM CT
Jair Jurrjens has impressed the entire Braves organization with his stuff this spring, this according to a report on MLB.com. Jair allowed only two hits and one walk in four innings during which time he blanked the Cardinals on Monday. In three spring starts, Jair owns a 1.00 ERA and he appears to be the clear-cut leader in the battle for the 5th spot in the rotation.

Jair Jurrjens said Monday he will definitely pitch again this season. Jurrjens was placed on the DL Sunday after leaving his outing with shoulder inflammation. If and when he returns, Jurrjens would likely be used as a reliever, according to the Detroit Free Press. "I discussed this with (GM) Dave (Dombrowski)," Leyland said. "I'm looking at Jurrjens as a strong possibility pitching out of the bullpen the rest of the year. Don't etch that in stone. That's just a possibility, but it's unlikely that he would start."

Jair Jurrjens, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/14, 8:51 AM CT
Jair Jurrjens will be called up from Double-A and start on Wednesday against the Indians. Jurrjens will take the rotation spot of fellow prospect Jordan Tata, who was optioned to the minors after his last start.
