Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresMonday 4/20, 2:18 PM CT
Radhames Liz struggled again on Monday, allowing six runs on three hits in just 0.1 innings in the Orioles' loss to the Red Sox. According to TSN, Liz was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk after the game.

Our View: No surprise here, as Liz has been dreadful in his brief stint with the club. His demotion will make room for Brad Bergesen, who is expected to be called up from Triple-A.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresWednesday 4/15, 4:24 PM CT
Radhames Liz has been called up from Triple-A Norfolk by the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun. He will join the bullpen upon arrival.

Our View: The Orioles have said they do not plan to use Liz as a starter, so his fantasy value is pretty nonexistent.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresTuesday 3/31, 1:13 PM CT
Radhames Liz has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk by the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Liz was competing for a rotation spot in spring training, but was then moved to the bullpen. He would not have held much fantasy value if he made the club as a reliever.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresMonday 3/16, 9:04 AM CT
The Orioles have decided to move Radhames Liz to the bullpen, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He was competing for a spot in the rotation, but the club ultimately decided he was best-suited for a relief role. His fantasy stock obviously takes a hit following this news, and he won't likely hold much value as a reliever, as he only racked up 57 strikeouts over 84.1 innings in 2008.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresTuesday 3/10, 2:52 PM CT
Radhames Liz only allowed one hit over three innings of work in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Red Sox, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Liz has good stuff, but needs to pitch with better control and consistency. He would be worth a look as a flier for AL-only leagues if he works his way into the Orioles' rotation.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresSunday 9/14, 3:54 PM CT
Liz dominated the Twins on Sunday, throwing eight scoreless innings. He allowed five hits, one walk and struck out four.

Our View: Liz has excellent stuff and a fine minor league track record, but he has struggled with his command since joining the Orioles. This performance shows what he is capable of if he is at his best, but Liz has not shown enough consistency to garner fantasy value this season.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresTuesday 9/9, 9:16 PM CT
The wayward ways of Radhames Liz continued on Tuesday. He allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned) over 4.2 innings against the Indians. Liz walked three and struck out five. His ERA actually fell, going from 7.91 to 7.75.

Our View: Has this prospect been hanging around Daniel Cabrera too much? Liz has a live arm, but he also has 67 walks in 89.2 career innings. He can't be trusted in fantasy leagues.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresTuesday 9/2, 12:08 PM CT
Radhames Liz has been brough back from Triple-A Norfolk a few days after being sent down, according to the AP.

Our View: Liz held a favorable 5-3 record over 12 starts this season with the Orioles, but with a poor 6.95 ERA and 1.79 WHIP. He should be avoided in anything but the deepest of AL-only leagues.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresSaturday 8/30, 1:56 PM CT
The Baltimore Orioles have sent starting pitcher Radhames Liz to Triple-A Norfolk, but intend to bring back the right- hander in time to start Tuesday's game at Boston, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Liz is 5-3 with a 6.95 ERA in 12 starts with the Orioles this year. The Orioles used the extra spot on the roster to recall infielder Oscar Salazar from Norfolk. He was recently named to the International League All- Star team after batting .316 with 13 home runs and 85 RBI for the Tides. Earlier this year, Salazar batted .235 with two home runs and four RBI in nine games with the Orioles.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresFriday 8/22, 3:25 PM CT
As expected, Radhames Liz has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk for Friday's start against the Yankees, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: The 25-year-old righty went 2-2 with a solid 2.67 ERA over four starts with Norfolk since being demoted. But with Baltimore he went 4-3 over 10 starts, with a poor 7.47 ERA and 1.79 WHIP. He only merits fantasy consideration in deeper AL-only leagues.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresThursday 8/21, 1:05 PM CT
Radhames Liz will be recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in time for Friday's start against the Yankees, according to the Baltimore Sun. The team optioned Garrett Olson to Norfolk as the adjoining move.

Our View: Liz went 2-2 with a solid 2.67 ERA over four starts since being demoted. With Baltimore, he went 4-3 over 10 starts, with a poor 7.47 ERA and 1.79 WHIP. He is only worth consideration in deeper AL-only leagues.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresSunday 7/27, 8:43 PM CT
After a rough outing on Saturday, Radhames Liz has been sent back to Triple-A on Sunday. In a corresponding move, the Orioles activated lefthander Jamie Walker from the 15-day disabled list. Walker went 1-0 with a 4.98 ERA in 37 games before being placed on the DL on June 26 with inflammation in his pitching elbow.

Our View: Liz made 10 starts on the year but carried a 7.47 ERA.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresSaturday 7/26, 9:35 PM CT
Radhames Liz had a rough outing, giving up six earned runs on seven hits and four walks in 5.2 innings.

Our View: When a pitcher has an ERA that is the same as a jet, 7.47, you know he has no place in fantasy baseball.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresMonday 7/14, 11:11 AM CT
After the Orioles return from the All-Star break Thursday, it looks like Radhames Liz will be moved to the bullpen, this according to Fox Sports. The rotation beginning Thursday will be Garrett Olson, Jeremy Guthrie, Daniel Cabrera and Brian Burres. Liz, who started strong after being called up from Triple-A, has been ineffective in his recent outing. The coaching staff is expected to use him in middle relief in place of the injured Matt Albers.

Our View: If the Orioles move Liz to long relief, the next in line for a slot in the rotation is Hayden Penn. The right-hander is 4-4 with a 4.97 ERA in 16 starts for Triple-A Norfolk. Lance Cormier is also an option to fill the fifth spot.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresThursday 6/26, 5:01 PM CT
Radhames Liz improved his record to 2-0 by going five innings and allowing two earned runs today in the Orioles 11-4 victory over the Cubs.

Our View: Liz still needs to work on his control, as he walked four batters, though he allowed just four hits.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresTuesday 6/10, 5:45 PM CT
Radhames Liz will get an extra day of rest before he takes the mound on Saturday against the Pirates according to MLB.com.

Our View: The timing and match-up bode well for the young prospect. Liz has a 3.48 ERA in his only two starts of the season.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresTuesday 6/3, 10:17 PM CT
Radhames Liz won his 2008 debut Tuesday, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four over 5 1/3 innings.

Our View: Liz is a nice prospect and has dominated at times at the minor league level. This is an impressive first start, but you should take a wait-and-see approach on him outside of AL-only leagues.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresMonday 6/2, 10:48 PM CT
The Orioles recalled Radhames Liz on Monday night, and he will start on Tuesday against the Twins, the Ticker reports. Liz was 1-5 with a 4.05 ERA over 11 starts at Triple-A Norfolk, but he was better in his two most recent starts.

Our View: What does Matt Albers need to do to get a start? Liz is one of the Orioles' best prospects and promises to post a good amount of strikeouts, but Albers is currently pitching well at the major league level. Anyway, we like Liz's arm but not his lack of control.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresMonday 6/2, 7:57 AM CT
Radhames Liz, who was scheduled to start Friday night for the Tides (Baltimore affiliate), did not pitch. He started Saturday instead, but left after throwing one inning, which amounts to a side session, meaning he would be available Tuesday. Skipper Dave Trembley told the team website that Steve Trachsel is no longer an option and will work out of the bullpen. Right-hander Jim Johnson will remain in the pen as well. "Johnson will not start [Tuesday]," Trembley said.

Our View: Liz was sent to the farm after pitching only five innings without allowing a run in spring training. Not because he performed poorly, but because the Orioles couldn't find enough innings for him to work. At Norfolk, he's gone 1-5 with a 4.05 ERA in 11 starts. Liz was 0-2 with a 6.93 ERA in nine appearances, including four starts, for the Orioles in 2007.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresFriday 4/25, 12:33 AM CT
Radames Liz allowed one run on three hits in seven innings for a no-decision on Thursday for Triple-A Norfolk. He walked two and struck out 10.

Our View: Liz struggled in his major league time last season and has also started this season off terribly for Triple-A Norfolk, but he remains one of the better high upside pitching prospects in the minors. He had a 3.22 ERA and 161 strikeouts in 137 innings at Double-A last season, and his 24/6 K/BB ratio in 21.2 innings this season is encouraging. With Baltimore’s rebuilding effort, we will probably see Liz in the rotation by the end of the season.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresMonday 3/17, 7:29 AM CT
The O's optioned Radhames Liz to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, according to the Baltimore Sun. "I saw improvement," manager Dave Trembley said. "Better mechanics, more mature, a very good arm, but he needs to go pitch." Liz had a solid spring, not allowing any runs in five innings. He'll work as a starter at Triple-A and should be back up with the O's this season, if he continues to perform well.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresSaturday 2/23, 8:36 PM CT
O's skipper Dave Trembley told the team website that Radhames Liz, called the top relief pitching prospect in the Minor Leagues by Baseball America, showed promise in winter ball. The right-hander, who walked 23 in 24 2/3 innings with the Orioles last season, has compacted his delivery and improved his command.
Radhames Liz, P, San Diego PadresWednesday 8/29, 3:50 AM CT
Dave Trembley hasn't said when rookie Radhames Liz will start again, but the Orioles will not use Liz out of the bullpen. Liz lost in his major league debut Saturday against Minnesota, allowing five earned runs over six innings.
