Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 9/7, 5:20 PM CT
Manny Acosta has been recalled by the Braves from Triple-A Gwinnet, according to TSN. Luis Valdez was sent down as the adjoining move.

Our View: Acosta has a 4.32 ERA and 1.65 ERA over 33.1 innings of relief this season, and does not garner fantasy attention.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 8/27, 5:30 PM CT
Manny Acosta has been optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Our View: Acosta has posted pretty mediocre numbers for a reliever this season, compiling a 4.32 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 33.1 innings out of the Braves bullpen.

The AP reports that right-hander Manny Acosta was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett by the Braves on Friday. He was 1-3 with a 2.86 ERA at Triple-A this season.

Our View: Acosta was a reliable reliever last season, but he does not figure to factor into the closing situation. At least not yet. He did manage three saves a season ago.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/4, 3:46 PM CT
Manny Acosta has been optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett by the Braves, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Acosta did not fare well in spring training, and was sent down to work out the kinks. He will be back, but will only hold value in deeper leagues that feature middle men.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/23, 12:23 PM CT
Manny Acosta has been activated from the 15-day DL following his bout with a strained right hamstring, according to the AP. The Braves optioned Matt DeSalvo to Triple-A Richmond to make room on the roster.

Our View: He will be a welcome addition back to Atlanta, but only holds fantasy value in deeper NL-only leagues that use middle men.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 8/15, 10:58 AM CT
Manny Acosta threw his second bullpen session Thursday, and if his strained right hamstring responds favorably he could be sent out on a minor-league rehab assignment next week, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: He has a shot to return to the Braves' bullpen in early September. He would be a welcome addition back to Atlanta, but only holds fantasy value in deeper NL-only leagues that use middle men.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/6, 10:07 PM CT
Manny Acosta has been placed on the disabled list with a strained hamstring, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: Acosta had been one of few relievers pitching well for the Braves lately. Hopefully he can recover quickly.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/6, 9:00 PM CT
Manny Acosta was effective from the 14th thru the 16th innings on Sunday. He allowed no runs, two hits and no walks. However, he left the game with a strained hamstring.

Our View: A bad way to end a good night. No word on how long Acosta expects to be out.

Blaine Boyer might have blown the save in the ninth inning, but it was Manny Acosta who picked up the loss in the 11th inning on Thursday. This was the Braves 21st straight loss in a one run game on the road, tied for the longest streak in major league history, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Atrocious. The Braves might want to look up Gene Garber and see if he still has any bullets in his arm. Acosta is now 3-5 and in his last seven appearances he has two blown saves and four loses, which begs the question of why Bobby Cox keeps sending him out there?
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 5/26, 8:56 PM CT
Manny Acosta worked two perfect innings, striking out two, and earned his third victory of the season as the Braves beat the Diamondbacks 7-3 on Monday afternoon.

Our View: Accosta, who has been the team's primary ninth inning option with Raphael Soriano on the disabled list, entered the game and worked the sixth and seventh inning. The right-hander was judged the winner due to his performance and Jair Jurrjens' inability to pitch five full innings.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 5/8, 1:29 PM CT
Manny Acosta had his third save taken away when an official scorer realized he mistakenly awarded one in the previous night following the Braves' 5-2 win over the Padres, according to the AP. Acosta entered the game with a 5-2 lead after Will Ohman got the first out of the ninth inning. Acosta retired Callix Crabbe and Khalil Greene to end the game. Braves official scorer Jack Wilkinson awarded Acosta his third save, and the save was included on the boxscore and postgame report.

Our View: The save was removed following a review by the commissioner’s office and the Elias Sports Bureau, baseball’s statistician. To qualify for the save, Acosta would have had to start the inning with a three-run lead or enter the game with the potential tying run on base, at the plate or on deck.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/30, 8:02 PM CT
Manny Acosta was saddled with his first loss of the year after allowing two runs in two innings of work on Wednesday. Acosta allowed only two hits but he walked five Nationals hitters.

Our View: Acosta hadn't allowed a run in 10 outings, but his total lack of control today has to be a big concern. Acosta now has 11 BB and just nine K on the season, and with word that John Smoltz might return to the bullpen once healthy, Acosta's time in the closer's role might be coming to an end.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 4/24, 10:25 PM CT
Manny Acosta picked up his second save of the season on Thursday despite allowing two walks in two innings of work.

Our View: Acosta now has a dangerously low 1.17 K/BB ratio, a horrible number for any pitcher let alone a closer. Look for that number to improve substantially, or there could be trouble in his future.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/19, 6:23 PM CT
Manny Acosta picked up the first save of his young career in the Braves 4-1 victory over the Dodgers.

Our View: Blaine Boyer worked the 8th without incident, and Acosta came in to shut the door for the Braves. If he hasn't already been grabbed in your league, now is the time to pounce on Acosta, and Boyer makes a nice pickup in NL Only leagues as he appears to be second in line for saves in the depleted Braves pen.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 4/15, 3:31 PM CT
Manny Acosta could assume the closer's role in Atlanta, according to MLB.com. Acting closer Peter Moylan has landed on the DL due to his elbow ailment, and Rafael Soriano is already on the shelf with an elbow ailment of his own, meaning Acosta should get the first crack to challenge for the unsettled closer's job.

Our View: His fantasy value goes up, but it will likely only be for the short term.
Manny Acosta, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 4/11, 7:41 PM CT
The Braves will employ a closer by committee approach until Rafael Soriano returns, and one of those hurlers in line for saves is Manny Acosta, this according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Acosta doesn't have a major league save but he does have 29 saves the past two seasons at Triple-A, and he figures to be in the mix with Peter Moylan for the majority of the save chances.
