Brad Salmon has been traded to the Royals for a player to be named and cash, according to CBSsports.com. The Reds recently penciled Jeremy Afeldt into their bullpen, so Salmon didn't fit into their plans.

The Reds recalled Brad Salmon from Triple-A on Friday, according to the AP. In 11 appearances with the Reds earlier this year, he posted an ERA of 4.50. He'll be used in a middle relief role.

The Reds have recalled Brad Salmon from Triple-A Louisville, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Closing games at Triple-A, Salmon was 1-0 with a 2.18 ERA and two saves in eight appearances. "[Louisville manager Rick Sweet] said he's thrown strikes; he's been very consistent," Reds manager Jerry Narron said. "He gives us more power out there. We're trying to get a little bit of a different look."
