According to MLBlogs.com, the Nationals acquired Norris Hopper and Daryle Ward from the White Sox for cash considerations.

Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 6/26, 12:59 PM CT
Outfielder Norris Hopper has been acquired in a trade from the Reds in exchange for catcher Corky Miller, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: Hopper has zero big league at-bats in 2009, but is a career .316 hitter in 396 at-bats. He could be up with the Sox at some point, but is not a fantasy option.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 3/30, 9:41 AM CT
Norris Hopper has been optioned to Triple-A Louisville by the Reds, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Hopper was a contender to win a reserve spot in the outfield, but he hit an anemic .135 in spring training.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 2/23, 6:26 PM CT
Norris Hopper will have a difficult time making the Reds roster this spring, according to MLB.com. He is recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Our View: Hopper brings a lot of speed to the team, but none more than starting center fielder Willy Taveras. He is competing for roster spots with Laynce Nix, Jerry Hairston Jr., Jonny Gomes, and Jacque Jones among others.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 12/13, 1:00 PM CT
The Cincinnati Reds re-signed outfielder Norris Hopper to a one-year deal that is below the $402,000 he made last season, Reds.com reports.

Our View: Norris underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this year, but even when healthy had little to no fantasy value as a reserve.

Norris Hopper is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, according to the AP.

Our View: Hopper was limited to only 50 at-bats this season due to elbow problems, and held no fantasy value.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 7/4, 1:46 PM CT
Norris Hopper is out for the remainder of the season, according to The Sports Network.com. An MRI revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament, and he will need Tommy John surgery, but he should be ready for spring training.

Our View: Hopper only had 10 hits in 50 at-bats, so this will not be a factor for fantasy teams.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 6/18, 5:54 PM CT
The Reds activated Norris Hopper from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.

Our View: Hopper, a preseason sleeper to start in center field for the Reds, is now up to offer depth for the injured and the ill. Jay Bruce's promotion ended any hope that Hopper would see regular playing time this year.

Norris Hopper has moved his rehab up to Triple-A Louisville and could be less than a week away from returning, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The outfielder is on the DL due to right elbow inflammation.

Our View: Hopper is no more than a fourth outfielder for the Reds, and he's of no interest in fantasy leagues.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 6/9, 8:40 PM CT
Norris Hopper is starting in the outfield for Single-A Sarasota Monday. He is coming back from right elbow inflammation.

Our View: Hopper should be back in a week or so if he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsSaturday 6/7, 9:22 AM CT
Norris Hopper, who is recovering from right elbow inflammation, is getting closer to returning, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He could start a rehab assignment with the Sarasota Reds as soon as Monday.

Our View: Hopper has a good eye at the plate, but won't likely see much action with Adam Dunn, Ken Griffey Jr, and rookie phenom Jay Bruce firmly planted at the three starting outfield spots in Cincinnati.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsWednesday 4/23, 2:10 PM CT
Norris Hopper has been placed on the 15-day DL due to an elbow ailment, according to the AP. The team made the move to free up a roster spot for catcher David Ross, who has been activated from the DL.

Our View: Hopper registered six hits over 25 brief at-bats this season, with no strikeouts and two walks. He has a good eye at the plate, but will have to wait for his next chance to prove his worth.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsFriday 4/18, 3:49 PM CT
Norris Hopper will start in center and bat leadoff on Friday night, the Cincinnati Enquirer notes.

Our View: That's the second straight game that Hopper will be playing in place of Corey Patterson. We haven't heard of any injury news about Patterson, so Dusty Baker may just being trying something new.
Norris Hopper, CF, Washington NationalsMonday 2/25, 7:29 PM CT
Either Norris Hopper or Ryan Freel will likely bat leadoff this season, according to a report in the Cincinnati Enquirer. "I hope one or the other is in the game," said manager Dusty Baker when asked who would bat leadoff for the squad. The upshot of this statement appears to be that phenom Jay Bruce likely won't make the team since he was vying for the CF position that Baker said would most likely be filled be Freel or Hopper. Given Baker's leanings toward veteran ballplayers, it would seem that Bruce would have an uphill battle making the squad out of camp.

Norris Hopper probably has a roster spot secured now that Chris Denorfia is headed for Tommy John surgery, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Hopper is dealing with a heel injury himself, but he's close enough to a comeback that the Reds are considering him for the final roster spot.
