The Indians signed Saul Rivera to a minor league contract on Monday with an invitation to spring training, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Rivera went 13-15 with a 4.05 ERA in 245 appearances for Washington over the last four seasons and has a chance to carve out a role in middle relief for Cleveland.

Saul Rivera has been released by the Nationals, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: With their acquisition of Brian Bruney today, the Nationals no longer had use for Rivera. He should be able to find some sort of gig around the league.

Saul Rivera has been sent down to Triple-A Syracuse, according to TSN. Reliever Joe Beimel was activated from the DL as the adjoining move.

Our View: The 31-year-old vet allowed 11 earned runs and five walks over 11.2 innings, and was viewed as expendable to make room for Beimel on the roster.

According to ESPN.com, the Nationals have recalled Saul Rivera from Triple-A Syracuse. He will replace Joe Beimel, who was placed on the 15-day DL.

Our View: Rivera didn't have much of a chance to get comfortable in Syracuse, as he is back up after being sent down two days ago. He has struggled so far for the Nats in 2009, but Beimel's injury allows him another chance.

Reliever Saul Rivera was sent down to Triple-A following the Nationals 7-4 loss to the Marlins on Sunday, according to the Washington Post. He allowed four earned runs on two hits and three walks while taking his third loss of the season.

Our View: Rivera goes to Triple-A with a 12.27 ERA and a 2.59 WHIP. He had already made six appearances this season so his demotion opens up a lot of opportunity for someone.
