Brandon Fahey, SS, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 1/26, 12:46 PM CT
Toronto has signed Brandon Fahey to a minor league deal, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The infielder held a poor .226 batting average and .252 OBP over 58 games with the Orioles last season, and is not expected to be fantasy-worthy as organizational depth for Toronto in 2009.

Brandon Fahey has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Fahey only hit .239 over 42 games in his previous stint with Baltimore this season, and displays no power at all. He does not merit fantasy consideration.

The Orioles may not be able to wait for Monday's roster expansion, now that Melvin Mora will miss at least the next couple of games with a hamstring strain. The team figures to call up an infielder, likely to be Brandon Fahey, to provide some depth for the rest of the weekend, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Look for Aubrey Huff to fill in at third and the two left-fielders -- Luke Scott and Lou Montanez -- to both be in the lineup. Of course, one of them will be the DH, though you could have made a case for putting both of them in left field at the same time in last night's 14-3 loss.

Brandon Fahey has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk, according to the AP. To make room on the roster, the club optioned infielder Oscar Salazar to Norfolk.

Our View: Fahey only hit .200 over 25 at-bats in his previous stint with the Orioles this season, and shouldn't push Alex Cintron from the starting gig at shortstop.

Brandon Fahey has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk, according to the AP. The team called up pitcher Garrett Olsen from Norfolk to make a start in place of the injured Adam Loewen tonight against the Rays, and felt Fahey was expendable to free up a roster spot.

Our View: Fahey registered five hits over 25 brief at-bats for Baltimore this season.

Brandon Fahey still is uncertain about whether he can unseat Luis Hernandez to start at shortstop for the O's, according to the Baltimore Sun. "I still don't know what they think," he said. "I don't know if they want me as more of a utility guy or a shortstop or second base or whatever. Or if I'll get sent down. I don't know." Manager Dave Trembley wasn't exactly helpful in clearing things up, saying, "We're going to find out the next two weeks." Hitting .300 this spring, Fahey appears to have closed the gap between himself and Herndandez, but he's going to have to keep performing well the next couple of weeks to pull it off.

As expected, Brandon Fahey returned to action Friday after missing the previous day's exhibition game because he had fluid drained from his thigh, according to the Baltimore Sun. "The bruise went away, but it still swelled up, so they just drained the fluid that was in there. It's fine. It doesn't hurt at all," he said. "It was just calcium deposits or something. They figured it was better to drain it. It didn't hurt when it was swollen." It appears this was just a minor malady, and he should be good to go. Fahey started at shortstop and went 0-for-2 on Friday.

Brandon Fahey was not available for Thursday's exhibition contest, because he had fluid drained from his thigh, according to the Baltimore Sun. "That is something he did last year and it wasn't a painful situation; it didn't inhibit him from playing," manager Dave Trembley said. It must be a minor ailment, because Fahey is expected to take part in Friday's contest.
Brandon Fahey, SS, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 8/20, 9:28 PM CT
The Orioles optioned Brandon Fahey to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. He was hitting .231 in 23 games with Baltimore.

Our View: The move was made to open a roster spot for Freddie Bynum. Fahey will play second, short and outfield while down in the minors.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Brandon Fahey added about 15 pound during the offseason. "I definitely got a lot stronger, but I didn't change much of what I've been doing every offseason," he said. "I work out hard every offseason. I don't know if it's my age. I'm getting older. My metabolism might be slowing down. Whatever it is, it worked."
