Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 11/5, 6:51 PM CT
According to Sports Illustrated, Giants ace Tim Lincecum has been cited for marijuana possession.

Our View: Little Timmy Lincecum appears to be all grown up. He was pulled over for speeding in his home state of Washington, when the police officer smelled marijuana smoke in his vehicle. The 2008 Cy Young award winner handed over a pipe and 3.3 grams of weed and was fined $622 for the infraction. Lincecum smudged his image a bit, but fantasy owners likely won't care as long as he keeps throwing fireballs in the regular season.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 10/13, 1:40 PM CT
Giants' beat writer Andrew Baggarly is reporting that the team has agreed to two-year extensions with manager Bruce Bochy and BM Brian Sabean. Both deals run until after the 2011 season with an option for 2012.

Our View: The Giants are moving in the right direction, and they are about one impact bat away from being a major contender in the NL. Their pitching staff is outstanding, and tey have some nice young talent in their lineup. Expect the Giants to be in the playoff hunt next season.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 10/1, 5:29 PM CT
Making his final start of another tremendous season, Tim Lincecum struck out seven in seven innings, picking up his 15th win, as the Giants beat the Diamondbacks 7-3 at home.

Our View: It was another great start for Lincecum, but after being a virtual lock for the Cy Young in August, he now faces very stiff competition from the Cardinals' Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter for the award (not to mention Atlanta's Javier Vazquez). His 15 wins are third amongst the terrific trio, while his 2.48 ERA and 1.05 WHIP are both second to Carpenter (2.24 and 1.01, respectively). He does have the most strikeouts in the National League, however. The only certainty in the 2009 NL Cy Young race is that it promises to be the closest in years.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 9/25, 11:57 PM CT
Tim Lincecum only allowed two earned runs on six hits over seven innings in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Cubs at AT&T Park. He had three walks with seven strikeouts.

Our View: Lincecum pitched well despite the three walks, but was dealt his seventh loss of the season due to no run support. The reigning Cy Young winner is 1-3 over four starts this month.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 9/20, 7:46 PM CT
Tim Lincecum hurt his Cy Young chances on Sunday as he was rocked by the Dodgers. Lincecum lasted only four innings and allowed five runs on four hits while walking four and striking out three in the Giants' 6-2 loss.

Our View: Lincecum was probably the favorite for the Cy Young going into Sunday's start, but he surely didn't help himself today. He is still having a great season, so expect him to bounce back in his next start.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 9/13, 9:13 PM CT
The Associate Press reports that Giants ace Tim Lincecum will start Monday's game against the Rockies.

Our View: The Giants get the wunderkind back just in the nick of time to kick off a key Wild Card matchup. Lincecum missed his last start due to spasms and inflammation in his lower back, but he's tested out the injury and claims that he is 100 percent good to go. Be sure to get him back into fantasy lineups right away.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 9/13, 2:25 PM CT
Tim Lincecum felt great after throwing off a mound on Saturday, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Lincecum said he is ready to go early this week.

Our View: Lincecum is feelng good, and he should be able to start tomorrow. The team hasn't announced when he will pitch yet, but he should be able to go in the next few days.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 9/12, 9:03 AM CT
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Giants' ace Tim Lincecum is expecting to return to the mound on Monday for the start of a huge series against the Rockies. Lincecum has been out all week with a sore back.

Our View: Lincecum says the back is feeling normal again, so expect him to go on Monday to kick off that series against Colorado. If the Giants are going to stay in the race, they will need Timmy to be healthy for the rest of the season.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 9/11, 8:21 PM CT
Tim Lincecum fared fine while playing catch Friday, according to the Associated Press. Lincecum indicated that his ailing back felt nearly normal again, and threw from a distance of up to 100 feet.

Our View: Lincecum is hopeful of making his next start Monday against the Rockies. If the ace hurler feels fine tomorrow, he will likely throw a bullpen session. He could then get the green light to take the hill against Colorado.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 9/9, 1:10 PM CT
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Tim Lincecum's stiff back is feeling better and he plans to make his next scheduled start.

Our View: Lincecum's back tightened up on Sunday's flight back from Milwaukee, but he's on muscle relaxers and has been sleeping much better as of late. He'll attempt to play catch today, and swears the injury is not a big deal, as he suffered similar spasms in high school. The Cy Young candidate should be good to go from here on out.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 9/8, 5:59 PM CT
Tim Lincecum has been scratched from his scheduled start on Tuesday night with lower back pain, according to CSN Bay Area.

Our View: Timmy Ballgame has been given some anti-inflammatory medicine, and is said to be progressing nicely. He is expected to be ready to start this weekend. Prized prospect Madison Bumgarner is starting in his place tonight.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 9/3, 8:46 PM CT
Tim Lincecum was hit with the loss Thursday despite allowing only two runs in seven innings against the Phillies. Lincecum allowed four hits and struck out 11 in the game.

Our View: The Freak lived up to his nickname tonight, but in typical fashion his offense couldn't give him enough support. Lincecum is still one of the favorites for the NL Cy Young, and the 11 K's sure didn't hurt his chances.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 8/28, 11:43 PM CT
Tim Lincecum threw a season-high 128 pitches in eight scoreless innings on Friday night, helping the Giants to a crucial 2-0 win over division rival and wild card foe Colorado. The Giants are now two back of the Rockies for the National League's final playoff spot.

Our View: Timmy Ballgame also won his first start since August 1st against the Phillies. His eight strikeouts increased his league-leading total to 222, and after winning his 13th game of the season, he is now 38-14 in his two and a half seasons in the majors.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 8/23, 7:35 PM CT
Tim Lincecum gave up three earned runs on three hits over seven innings in Sunday's 4-2 loss at Colorado. He issued five walks and racked up seven strikeouts.

Our View: Lincecum was dealt his first loss of August, and his fourth of 2009. He allowed eight earned runs over his last two starts, but the reigning Cy Young winner should be able to bounce back fine.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 8/18, 10:51 PM CT
Tim Lincecum had a rare poor outing on Tuesday night against Cincinnati. The Giants' ace allowed five runs on six hits and three walks over six innings and fanned just two batters in a game the Giants eventually won 8-5 in ten-innings.

Our View: Lincecum surrendered the ERA lead to Chris Carpenter after Tuesday's performance, and his total now sits at 2.37. The outing broke a string of four consecutive quality starts and marked his lowest strikeout total of the season. He's a good candidate to bounce back next time out though.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/12, 6:24 PM CT
Tim Lincecum struck out seven Dodgers in 8.2 innings on Wednesday, but took a no-decision after an awful call allowed Rafael Furcal to reach base and eventually score in the top of the ninth inning. The Giants would go on to win 4-2 in 10 innings.

Our View: Lincecum crossed the 200 strikeout plateau for the second straight season in the start, and at 12-3 with a 2.19 ERA, is cruising toward his second straight Cy Young award.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 8/1, 11:13 PM CT
Tim Lincecum only issued seven hits over eight scoreless innings in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Phillies at AT&T Park. He had one walk and racked up eight strikeouts.

Our View: Lincecum collected his 12th win, and has not allowed any runs over his last two starts. He lowered his ERA to 2.18, and continues to lead the majors with 191 strikeouts.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 7/28, 1:10 PM CT
Tim Lincecum needs only 117 more strikeouts over the final two months of the season to become the first major league pitcher to strikeout 300 batters in a season since Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling both did it for Arizona in 2002.

Our View: With 21 starts under his belt already, Lincecum has roughly 13 remaining, meaning he would have to average nine strikeouts per game from here on out to reach 300. That's slightly higher than the 8.7 per game he has averaged so far. In addition to a new personal high in strikeouts, the 2008 NL Cy Young award winner is on pace to set (or has already set) career bests in innings pitched, ERA, WHIP, batting average against, complete games and shutouts. He is the current heavy favorite to win his second Cy Young award.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 7/27, 11:31 PM CT
Tim Lincecum allowed two runs (none earned) on four hits over nine innings in Monday's 4-2 win over the Pirates at AT&T Park. He had three walks and racked up 15 strikeouts.

Our View: Lincecum collected his fourth complete game and 11th win of the season. The reigning Cy Young winner continues to lead the majors with 183 strikeouts as well.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 7/22, 8:49 PM CT
Tim Lincecum struck out nine in five innings on Wednesday, but also allowed four earned runs, and lost for the first time since June 17, as the Braves beat the Giants 4-2.

Our View: Timmy Ballgame did manage to stretch his NL-leading K's total to 168, however, and should continue to mow down batters down the stretch for San Francisco.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 7/18, 1:17 AM CT
Tim Lincecum was excellent as usual on Friday, but he did not factor into the decision as the Giants fell to the Pirates by a score of 2-1 in 14 innings. Lincecum went seven innings and allowed one run on five hits while walking one and striking out ten.

Our View: Nothing surprising about this start, but it is unfortunate his team couldn't get him any support. He is the front-runner for the NL Cy Young right now, and he should be excellent for the entire second half of the year.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 7/15, 8:45 AM CT
Tim Lincecum says he is afraid any big offensive acquisition made by the Giants could screw up their team chemistry, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: While this is possible, it is just as likely that it would put the Giants over the top and into the playoffs. Any bat to provide more offense, and more run support for Lincecum, should be welcomed with open arms in San Francisco and by fantasy owners of Giants pitchers.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 7/14, 10:53 PM CT
Tim Lincecum gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits over two innings in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the American League in the All-Star Game at Busch Stadium. He issued no walks with one strikeout.

Our View: The reigning Cy Young winner started the game for the NL. Lincecum should be headed for many more All-Star appearances in his career.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 7/13, 10:16 AM CT
Boston Globe reporter Amalie Benjamin is reporting on her Twitter page that Giants' starter Tim Lincecum is expected to be named as the NL starting pitcher for the All-Star game. Lincecum is 10-2 this season with a 2.33 ERA.

Our View: No big surprise here, as Lincecum has followed up his Cy Young season with a dominating first half. He has established himself as one of the most dominating forces in baseball, and we have a feeling this won't be his last All-Star start.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 7/9, 11:57 PM CT
Tim Lincecum allowed three earned runs on three hits over 6.2 innings in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Padres at AT&T Park. He issued four walks and racked up eight strikeouts.

Our View: Lincecum is now tied with Matt Cain for the team lead with 10 wins. The reigning Cy Young winner also leads the Giants with a 2.33 ERA, and paces the majors with 149 strikeouts.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 7/5, 2:36 PM CT
According to MLB.com, Tim Lincecum has been chosen to represent the NL in the 2009 All-Star game. He will be joined on the pitching staff by Heath Bell, Chad Billingsly, Jonathan Broxton, Matt Cain, Francisco Cordero, Ryan Franklin, Dan Haren, Josh Johnson, Ted Lilly, Jason Marquis, Francisco Rodriguez, and Johan Santana.

Our View: Lincecum figures to stand the best chance at starting the game, but there are several solid options for manager Charlie Manuel. Other options include Dan Haren and Lincecum's teammate Matt Cain.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 7/4, 5:42 PM CT
Tim Lincecum was masterful again on Saturday, striking out nine Astros in seven innings of work, as San Francisco rolled to an 9-0 victory on the Fourth of July.

Our View: Lincecum has looked every bit as dominant this season as he did in his 2008 Cy Young award winning campaign, as is the early favorite to win it again this year. He is also surely on the short list of potential All-Star game starters for the National League.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 6/29, 10:21 PM CT
Tim Lincecum hurled a gem in Monday's 10-0 win at St. Louis, as he only surrendered two hits over nine scoreless innings. He issued no walks and fired eight strikeouts.

Our View: The reigning Cy Young winner collected his third complete game and second shutout of the season. He currently ranks second in the NL with a 2.37 ERA, and first with 132 strikeouts.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 6/26, 1:36 PM CT
Tim Lincecum currently has better strikeout, walk and home run rates than during his Cy Young award-winning 2008 season, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: "The Freak" has thrown two complete games in his last three starts, piling up 33 strikeouts in 26 innings to go along with two wins. He is an elite, if not the most elite, fantasy starting pitcher out there.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 6/23, 11:41 PM CT
Tim Lincecum threw his second complete game of the season on Tuesday, striking out 12 while allowing only one run as the Giants beat the A's 4-1.

Our View: After a sluggish start, Lincecum has rounded firmly into his Cy Young form, and should be a contender for the award again this season. Through 15 starts, he is 7-2 with a 2.57 ERA and 124 Ks.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 6/17, 5:39 PM CT
Tim Lincecum suffered his second loss of the season as the Giants fell to the Angels 4-3 on Wednesday. However, he did pitch very well as he struck out nine hitters and completed eight innings . He did not walk anybody, but did allow nine hits and three earned runs.

Our View: He had a complete game shutout in his last outing. His 112 strikeouts leads the National League and he is second with 96 innings pitched.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 6/12, 11:45 PM CT
Tim Lincecum was dominant from the hill in Friday's 3-0 win over Oakland at AT&T Park, as he gave up seven hits over nine scoreless innings. He issued one walk and racked up eight strikeouts.

Our View: The reigning Cy Young winner picked up his first complete game and shutout of 2009, and improves to 6-1 for the season. His lone loss came way back in his second start of the season at San Diego.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 6/7, 8:51 PM CT
Tim Lincecum allowed two runs on three hits and four walks over 7.1 innings. He struck out four and earned his fifth victory of the season with a 3-2 Giants' win over the Marlins.

Our View: Lincecum has now rattled off four quality starts in a row and has his ERA down to 2.96. Looks like he has regained his Cy Young form after a rocky start to the season.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 6/2, 10:50 PM CT
Tim Lincecum gave up four runs (two earned) on eight hits over 6.1 innings in Tuesday's 10-6 loss at Washington. He issued two walks and fired seven strikeouts.

Our View: He ended the night with a no-decision. Lincecum is pitching fine, but only has one win over his last five starts.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 5/26, 11:45 PM CT
Tim Lincecum continued his stretch of dominance on Tuesday. He threw eight shutout innings allowing five hits and two walks. He fanned eight and earned his fourth victory as the Giants blanked the Braves 4-0.

Our View: Lincecum has allowed just two runs in his last 15 innings and has struck out 18 over that span. He looks like he has it figured out and his ERA is now at 3.03.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 5/22, 12:01 AM CT
Tim Lincecum was verp sharp on Thursday, tossing seven inning of one-run ball in which he allowed just four hits and a walk and struck out ten. He did not factor in the decision as the Giants fell to the Padres 3-2 in walk-off fashion.

Our View: Lincecum was knocked around in his last two starts, but regained his form on Thursday. He looked like the Cy Young of old and although he hasn't been sharp all season, he likely won't have many hiccups.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/10, 8:32 PM CT
Tim Lincecum allowed four runs, three earned, in six innings of work as the Giants defeated the Dodgers 7-5 in 13 innings on Sunday. He surrendered six hits and one walk, while striking out eight. He did not factor in the decision.

Our View: This was the first time in his last four starts that Lincecum has gone less than seven innings. There's no reason for concern, though, and the Cy Young winner remains one of the best strikeout pitchers in baseball.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 5/5, 4:39 PM CT
Tim Lincecum had another solid start on Tuesday. He tossed seven innings, allowing just two runs on four hits and a walk and struck out seven. The bullpen finished the job and the Giants trumped the Cubs 6-2.

Our View: Lincecum has been stellar in his last four starts combined and is quickly making nice with fantasy owners after getting blasted in his first two. He's now 3-1 on the season with a 3.05 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 38.1 innings.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 4/30, 12:23 AM CT
Tim Lincecum struck out eight hitters while allowing six hits, three walks, and three earned runs over seven innings as the Giants beat the Dodgers 9-4 on Wednesday. He improved to 2-1 on the season.

Our View: After a shaky first two outings, Lincecum seems to have figured out how to miss bats again. In his last three starts he has gone 23 innings and struck out 33 hitters.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 4/24, 11:52 PM CT
Tim Lincecum appears to be back in peak form. He dominated the Diamondbacks on Friday, going eight innings and allowing just one run on five hits and a walk. He struck out 12 and earned his first win of the season.

Our View: Last season's Cy Young winner looks like he back at his best after a dismal first outing. He's been brilliant since and now has a 2.96 ERA with 35 strikeouts in just 24.1 innings.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 4/18, 6:17 PM CT
The reigning NL Cy Young winner looked in peak form on Saturday as he dominated Arizona's lineup. Unfortunately, he didn't factor in the decision due to a bullpen collapse and lack of offense. In the hard luck 2-0 loss, Lincecum threw eight brilliant shutout innings, striking out 13 and allowing just five hits. He did not walk a batter.

Our View: It stings a little that he didn't get the win, but owners have to be happy that Lincecum quickly returned to form after his miserable opening start. He now has 23 Ks in 16.1 innings and should continue to dominate as the season rolls on.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 4/18, 7:06 AM CT
Tests on Tim Lincecum's stomach came back negative and he is expected to make his scheduled start Saturday against Arizona, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He has been dealing with an illness and said, "They gave me some Prilosec, and it feels better already."

Our View: Lincecum is 3-1 with a 2.23 ERA over six career starts against the Diamondbacks, and should bounce back from his poor season debut in which he surrendered seven earned runs and 14 hits over 8.1 innings.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 4/17, 7:19 AM CT
Tim Lincecum has been cleared of his mystery illness following a medical exam Thursday, according to MLB.com. The illness hindered him through part of spring training.

Our View: Lincecum was rocked for seven earned runs in his season debut, but the elite hurler should bounce back in his second scheduled start Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 4/12, 6:38 PM CT
For the second straight game, Tim Lincecum struggled. He lasted only 5.1 innings and took his first loss of the season as the Padres got to him for four earned runs on 10 hits and three walks. He struck out five and gave up a home run to Chase Headley.

Our View: Through two starts, Lincecum has given us the opposite of what was expected of him. The reigning Cy Young does have 10 strikeouts through 8.1 innings this season, but that is little compensation for his 7.56 ERA and 2.40 WHIP. We would like to say things will certainly turn around for him, but a collapse would not be totally unrealistic for the charismatic left-hander. The team may want to start putting more distance between him and Barry Zito.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 4/7, 7:11 PM CT
Tim Lincecum struggled through the shortest start of his young career on Tuesday. He allowed three runs and four hits in just three innings in San Francisco's 10-6 win over Milwaukee at AT&T Park.

Our View: Lincecum did strike out five, but he also walked three and threw 78 pitches. Fantasy owners should not fear, however, as this is most likely a small blip on the radar screen.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 4/3, 12:35 AM CT
Tim Lincecum struck out eight in five and two-thirds innings Thursday evening against the A's. He allowed three runs on four hits and walked one.

Our View: Lincecum has been a little shaky at times this spring, but he threw an abundance of strikes against Oakland. It's only a matter of taking the mound on opening day and getting the jitters over with before Lincecum settles back into his Cy Young award form.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 3/29, 7:26 AM CT
Tim Lincecum admitted that his rhythm has been off this spring, resulting in a lack of command, according to the SF Chronicle. He said, "I cannot emphasize the rhythm thing enough. I cannot find a consistent track of finding my rhythm. It is frustrating, but I feel like I have more time before the season starts."

Our View: Lincecum only has one practice start left to get his control worked out before opening day, but fantasy owners should not be concerned with the elite hurler.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 3/28, 5:53 PM CT
Tim Lincecum threw 92 pitches in 5.0 innings against the Triple-A squad of the Angels, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Lincecum struck out six batters in the game and allowed just one run.

Our View: Throwing 92 pitches means Lincecum is nearly ready to start the season. He is obviously one of the top fantasy options at his position, along with Johan Santana.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/23, 5:59 PM CT
Tim Lincecum pitched six innings of relief Monday against Seattle and allowed three runs on four hits.

Our View: Besides the All-Star Game, you can count on this being the last time you see Lincecum relieving someone in a game.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 3/18, 6:44 PM CT
Tim Lincecum was beat up by the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. He allowed seven hits and four runs while failing to complete four innings. He struck out six, but struggled with his control, walking four.

Our View: The reigning Cy Young winner was hit hard and didn't have command of his pitches. Consider him just shaking off the cobwebs. He should still be a top-flight fantasy starter.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/16, 7:31 AM CT
Tim Lincecum may miss today's scheduled start as he is dealing with an illness, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Lincecum is expected to be fine, and may pitch in a minor league game Tuesday.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 3/6, 6:41 PM CT
Giants ace Tim Lincecum was sharp Friday, allowing no hits and striking out three in three innings of work in a 5-4 loss to the Angels.

Our View: Barring injury, Lincecum should have no trouble contending for a second consecutive NL Cy Young award.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/2, 12:25 AM CT
Tim Lincecum was phenomenal on Sunday as he threw three perfect innings while striking out two.

Our View: Lincecum's coming off winning the NL Cy Young in 2008 and looks like he's picking up where he left off. He shouldn't fall below the second round in any fantasy draft.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 2/26, 11:54 AM CT
Tim Lincecum has reached an agreement with the Giants on a one-year, $650,000 contract, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: While the deal is clearly a phenomenal bargain for the Giants, it's typical contract with Lincecum's short amount of service in the MLB thus far (between one and two years) given the structure of MLB contracts. The Giants' ace will likely receive an exponential raise next offseason, assuming he's eligible for salary arbitration.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 2/25, 7:33 PM CT
Tim Lincecum was solid to begin the spring on Wednesday, allowing one hit in one inning while also fanning a batter.

Our View: This is about what we expected out of the defending NL Cy Young winner, so his stock remains very high going into 2009.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 2/17, 3:24 PM CT
Tim Lincecum's rep has started preliminary talks with the Giants regarding a long-term extension, according to the Mercury News.

Our View: Lincecum is likely to be a Super Two player, meaning he will be arbitration-eligible four times instead of the usual three. The reigning NL Cy Young award winner seems primed to chase 20 wins this season, and is worthy of drafting as a top-3 fantasy hurler.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 2/15, 1:16 PM CT
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum and the Giants are not expected to have any negotiations regarding a long-term contract extension.

Our View: Lincecum's value may never get any higher, but he and his agent are not pushing for anything to get done. While a similar season as Lincecum's 2008 campaign would be difficult to match, we still expect him to be one of the Top 5 pitchers in the league.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 1/27, 8:05 PM CT
The San Jose Mercury News reports that the San Francisco Giants have scheduled a conference call for Wednesday with former major-league first baseman Will Clark. There's speculation that Clark may join the organization for which he played a majority of his 15-year career as some sort of coach/special assistant.

Our View: Since his retirement, Clark has held minimalist positions with Arizona, the Chicago Cubs, with former manager Dusty Baker, and St. Louis, where he finished his career.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 12/3, 12:59 PM CT
Tim Lincecum had said previously that he wanted to work on a series of one-year contracts, but now he is open to working out a long-term deal with the Giants, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Lincecum won the N.L. Cy Young Award for his stellar 2008 campaign, and the Giants would be wise to lock him up, though there is a thinking in some parts that his herky-jerky mechanics will lead to an eventual injury.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 11/11, 1:37 PM CT
Tim Lincecum has won the NL Cy Young Award, according to the Associated Press. Lincecum earned the honor by winning 18 games, while maintaining a 2.62 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 227 innings, with 265 strikeouts.

Our View: The second-year pro joins Mike McCormick (1967) as the only San Francisco Giants pitchers to win the award. He received 23 of 32 first-place votes, beating out Arizona's Brandon Webb.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 10/24, 6:27 PM CT
Tim Lincecum was named the starter on the National League Sporting News All-Star team, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View: Lincecum was selected over the likes of Brandon Webb and Johan Santana, and the question is does this decision foreshadow how the NL Cy Young vote will play out?
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 10/20, 1:28 PM CT
Tim Lincecum has been chosen as the NL Pitcher of the Year by the Sporting News, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Cliff Lee of the Indians won the same honor in the AL. Lincecum was notably drafted by the Indians, but did not sign with the team.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 9/28, 5:48 PM CT
Tim Lincecum struck out 13 batters in seven innings on Sunday against the Dodgers. He allowed one run on four hits and two walks

Our View: He had lost his previous two starts but ends the season on a high-note. Lincecum may take home the NL Cy Young this season. He went 18-5 for a down Giants squad and struck out a rather remarkable 265 batters in 227 innings. He ends the year with a 2.62 ERA.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 9/26, 8:56 AM CT
Tim Lincecum will indeed make his final scheduled start of the season on Sunday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "I talked to him," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He doesn't want the season to end on his (previous) start. He feels great. He'd be disappointed if he didn't pitch."

Our View: Good for the Giants. With all these team's being so careful with young pitchers trying to micromanage every aspects of their throwing, the Giants are letting their young horse go. Of course, the questions will fly if it backfires, but what's one more start going to do?
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 9/24, 12:02 AM CT
Tim Lincecum didn't do himself any favors Tuesday in the race for the NL Cy Young. Tim allowed six runs (four earned) on five hits and five walks over just 4 1/3 innings.

Our View: The one positive for Lincecum was his nine strikeouts. He now has 252 on the season, which is a franchise record.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 9/18, 11:09 PM CT
Tim Lincecum pitched a complete game on Thursday night but he took the loss in the Giants' 3-2 defeat to the Diamondbacks. In Lincecum's fourth loss, he struck out six and surrendered seven hits.

Our View: Thursday night's start was the third straight game when Lincecum has pitched at least eight innings. This year's CY Young race seems to be a two horse race between Lincecum and Brandon Webb. Webb has more wins than Lincecum but doesn't even come close to the Giants ace's number of strikeouts (243).
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 9/13, 11:52 PM CT
Tim Lincecum hurled a complete game shutout, with only four hits allowed, in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Padres. He issued three walks, but fired 12 strikeouts.

Our View: Lincecum improves to 17-3 and notched his first complete game of the season. He reached double digits in strikeouts eight times as well, with a high of 13 coming against Arizona on July 26.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 9/9, 11:28 AM CT
Manager Bruce Bochy, despite his and Dusty Baker's claims that Tim Lincecum is not being overused, is in fact flirting with danger. At 24, Lincecum is still at a tender age where throwing too many pitches can have negative consequences.

Our View: The Giants ace tossed 127 in his last start, two starts after throwing 132. Since 110 pitches is the level deemed safe, Bochy is pushing Lincecum way far beyond reasonable, and this for a team that is out of postseason contention.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 8/31, 7:49 AM CT
Reds manager Dusty Baker defended Giants manager Bruce Bochy, wh0 has been criticized for allowing pitcher Tim Lincecum to throw 132 pitches in his last start, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "I know Bruce knows what he's doing. I know (pitching coach Dave) Righetti knows what he's doing. A lot of times it differs from day to day. One day 100 pitches may be too much and the next time 132 may be just enough," Baker said.

Our View: We'll go ahead and agree with the masses that there really is no reason for Lincecum to throw that many pitches at this point in the season. Many fantasy players are familiar with Baker's use of Mark Prior and Kerry Wood, often leaving them on the mound despite high pitch counts.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/27, 11:51 PM CT
Tim Lincecum struck out 10 to boost his league-leading strikeout total to 210 as he pitched the Giants past the Rockies 4-1 on Wednesday.

Our View: Lincecum lowered his ERA from 2.48 to 2.43, tied for best in the big leagues with Cleveland’s Cliff Lee. Lincecum has allowed 50 earned runs in 185.1 innings.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/27, 1:24 PM CT
If Tim Lincecum wants to continue his push to the NL Cy Young Award he will need to continue his recent success. In his last two starts Lincecum has pitched 15.2 innings, struck out 15 and has lowered his league leading ERA to 2.48.

Our View: Lincecum leads the NL in strikeouts with 200 and ERA with 2.48.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 8/22, 11:35 PM CT
Tim Lincecum continues his push for the Cy Young Award by tossing eight shutout innings against San Diego, giving up just four hits while striking out eight in the Giants 5-0 win.

Our View: Though many believe Brandon Webb has the Cy Young locked up, Lincecum is making a push and quickly gaining supporters. More performances like this and the bandwagon is sure to grow.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 8/17, 4:27 PM CT
Giants ace Tim Lincecum was on his mark today as his mates put the Braves in the loss column, 3-1. Lincecum pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on three hits with four walks and an impressive 10 strikeouts.

Our View: Lincecum had earned just one decision in his last four starts coming in but was as impressive as ever in each. In four August starts he has allowed a combined total of 12 hits, five earned runs, and no homers.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 8/15, 7:23 AM CT
Tim Lincecum, who is recovering from a bruised right knee, played catch Thursday and is scheduled to throw off a bullpen mound today, according to the SF Chronicle. Manager Bruce Bochy said that making his next start Sunday is "not a question mark."

Our View: The fantasy ace shall remain active in lineups.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/13, 8:40 PM CT
Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum says he will make his next scheduled start on Sunday against the Braves, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Good news for the Giants and great news for fantasy owners of Lincecum, who has been fabulous this season in every aspect.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/13, 1:34 PM CT
Tim Lincecum sustained a bruised right knee during Tuesday's game against the Astros, according to the AP.

Our View: X-rays showed no fracture and Lincecum was walking without difficulty in the locker room following the game. The Giants are not sure if their ace will be able to make his next scheduled start, but they know the injury could have been worse.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 8/12, 9:54 PM CT
Giants ace Tim Lincecum had to leave Tuesday's game against the Houston Astros in the fifth inning when he was struck in the knee with a line drive, according to the AP.

Our View: Lincecum had been throwing well, with one earned run allowed and seven strikeouts in 4.1 innings. There was no immediate word on his condition or how long he might be out.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/6, 5:57 PM CT
Tim Lincecum held the Braves to two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out eight over eight innings Wednesday to pick up his 12th win of the year.

Our View: Tiny Tim now has 24 more strikeouts than anyone in the NL and has somehow managed to pick up a dozen wins on a horrid Giants squad.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 8/1, 11:17 PM CT
Tim Lincecum completley dominated the Padres for seven innings piling up 11 K while allowing only three hits and just one earned run on Friday night. He ended up with a no-decision when Jack Taschner blew the game by allowing a home run to Adrian Gonzalez.

Our View: Lincecum was blowing cheese by the Padres all night and now has at least eight K in 4-straight starts highlighted by 24 over his last two outings covering 14 innings. Its truly amazing that he has 11 wins for such an inept squad.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 7/26, 10:59 PM CT
Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum made his presence felt against the Arizona Diamondbacks, throwing seven innings, allowing two runs and striking out 13 hitters. Alas, he did not get the win as the San Francisco bullpen promptly came in and allowed three runs.

Our View: Lincecum is a fantasy stalwart, and possesses the talent to dominate on any given evening.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 7/20, 8:22 PM CT
The Brewers found some cracks in the San Francisco pitching ace, putting Tim Lincecum in the loss column for only the third time this season by taking the 7-4 win over the Giants. Lincecum pitched six innings to allow five runs (all earned) on six hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.

Our View: Lincecum "falls" to 11-3 with an ERA of 2.79, allowing two homers in a game for the second time in his last three starts (and for the third time in his last seven).
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 7/20, 7:10 AM CT
Tim Lincecum is showing no signs of illness and is expected to start today against the Brewers, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Lincecum was drained to the point he needed to be hospitalized during the All-Star break due to his illness (flu-like symptoms) but manager Bruce Bochy stated he is fine. Get him into your lineups for Sunday.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 7/18, 12:03 AM CT
MLB.com reports that Tim Lincecum made an unexpected appearance at the Giants open workout on Thursday. He threw 53 pitches and reportedly felt fine.

Our View: Lincecum missed the All-Star game on Tuesday with "flu-like symptoms" but appears set to throw on Sunday.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 7/17, 8:34 AM CT
Tim Lincecum felt much better Wednesday after being hospitalized Tuesday for flu-like symptoms, according to the SF Chronicle. His father commented, "I saw him this morning. He's fine. He had major-league dehydration. It was a combination of flying in from the Chicago game, a delayed flight. He didn't land until one in the morning."

Our View: Lincecum is expected to fly back to San Francisco today, and is scheduled to start Sunday against the Brewers.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 7/15, 7:29 PM CT
Updating an earlier story, it has been confirmed that Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum will miss tonight's All-Star Game because he is suffering from flu-like symptoms, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: This is unfortunate for Lincecum, who was appearing in his first All-Star Game. Rest assured, if he keeps pitching the way he has been, it won't be his last.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 7/15, 4:24 PM CT
San Francisco Giants All-Star Tim Lincecum was taken to a New York hospital after complaining of feeling poorly, and was said to be dehydrated and suffering from flu-like symptoms, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com.

Our View: No official word on his status for tonight's contest, but it's pretty safe to assume he won't be seeing any action.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 7/13, 8:20 AM CT
Tim Lincecum may not throw in the All-Star Game, according to the Contra Costa Times. The righty had diminished velocity in his last start and a large pitch count in today's game against Chicago would mean he would be unavailable to throw an inning for the National League All-Stars.

Our View: Lincecum has been fabulous this season, with a 2.66 ERA while striking out an average of more than one batter per inning. The Giants, and fantasy owners for that matter, don't want to see Lincecum pushed, so San Francisco would be doing the right thing if they chose not to let him throw.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 7/8, 10:21 PM CT
In his first start since appearing on the Sports Illustrated cover, Lincecum gave up nine hits and two walks in six innings. He gave up four earned runs while striking out four.

Our View: Lincecum was pushed up in the rotation for this start and it did not pay off. This is probably just a bump in the road for the prodigy.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 7/7, 8:42 AM CT
Manager Bruce Bochy plans to use today's off day to shuffle his rotation to get Tim Lincecum an additional start before the All-Star break, according to the SF Chronicle. Instead of facing the Mets on Wednesday, Lincecum will pitch in New York on Tuesday and again in Chicago on Sunday, two days before the All-Star Game.

Our View: Bochy also said he thinks Lincecum could pitch one inning at Yankee Stadium in the All-Star Game because that will be his normal between-starts throwing day.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 7/3, 9:00 PM CT
Tim Lincecum increased his National League-leading strikeout total to 122 with eight strikeout over six innings in an 8-3 win over the Cubs on Thursday night.

Our View: Lincecum allowed three runs on seven hits and walked one in his 10th victory of the season.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 6/28, 11:43 PM CT
Tim Lincecum was able to outpitch Justin Duchscherer helping the the Giants snap a seven-game losing streak to the Athletics with a 1-0 victory Saturday night.

Our View: Lincecum struck out 11 for his third game with 10 or more Ks this year and won his ninth game against one loss.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 6/22, 7:30 PM CT
Tim Lincecum was far from his best on Sunday as he allowed five runs in five innings, but he was still disappointed to receive a no-decision given that he left the game with a 10-5 lead.

Our View: Lincecum received an extra day of rest before this start and he was humming along at 96-97 mph in the early going leading to eight strikeouts on the afternoon though he was wild as he needed 109 pitches to complete five innings.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 6/22, 10:45 AM CT
The Giants will turn to RHP Tim Lincecum today as they face off against Kyle Davies and the Royals today, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Lincecum is 6-0 with a 1.47 earned run average in eight games (seven starts) as the visitor this season. He is 4-0 in his last eight outings overall, with the Giants going 6-2 in that span, and has posted back-to-back no decisions. In his last time out on June 16 versus Detroit, Lincecum gave up a season-high four runs on six hits in seven innings of an 8-6 victory. Davies last pitched on June 17 at St. Louis and earned the win with seven strong innings of one-run ball. He also permitted five hits in the 2-1 triumph at Busch Stadium. San Francisco and Kansas City are meeting for the first time since the Royals won two of three games by the Bay in 2005. Kansas City is 5-3 in its eight matchups with the Giants and 8-3 versus the National League this season.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 6/16, 11:31 PM CT
Tim Lincecum allowed five hits and three walks in permitting four runs over seven innings against the Tigers in a no-decision on Monday night.

Our View: Lincecum's night was ruined by two pitches, both of which were deposited in the left center field seats by Marcus Thames. This was just the second outing on the year that "The Franchise" had allowed more than three earned runs as his ERA rose to 2.21.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 6/16, 3:45 PM CT
Tim Lincecum will be targeting his ninth win of the season when the Giants host the Tigers in inter-league play tonight, according to MLB.com. Lincecum is 8-1 with a 1.99 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 90.2 innings, with 92 strikeouts.

Our View: He has made 15 consecutive quality starts dating back to 2007, and is 13-4 with a 2.46 ERA in his career when he pitches at least six innings. Lincecum has also allowed one or less earned runs in three straight outings, and should remain in your lineup despite a tough assignment against the Tigers.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 6/11, 11:10 PM CT
Tim Lincecum held the Rockies scoreless over seven innings in Colorado while striking out seven batters to lower his ERA to 1.99.

Our View: Lincecum is a machine on the hill throwing 95 mph fastball after 95 mph fastball. When he has his change up working like it was tonight, batters have little chance of squaring up the ball.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 6/11, 1:44 PM CT
Tim Lincecum has allowed only three home runs in 83 2/3 innings pitched this season.

Our View: Just another stat to put on Lincecum's impressive resume.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 6/6, 10:12 PM CT
The Giants are an undeniably bad team, but that hasn't kept Tim Lincecum from getting off to a fantastic start. The righty held the Nats to one run on five hits while striking out five over seven innings Friday to pick up his eighth win of the season against just one loss.

Our View: Lincecum's eight wins match the total of the rest of the Giants' starters combined. He's probably due for some tough luck losses but you can't bet against him right now.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 6/1, 8:57 PM CT
Tim Lincecum was dominate in the first seven innings on Sunday allowing only one runner to reach second base in that span. But he ran into a trouble in the eighth when Jody Gerut led off with a single and Tadahito Iguchi walked to open the frame ending his day. Linecum walked four and struck out only two, which is not typical for the hard-throwing right-hander. Lincecum pitched well enough to win Sunday, taking a shutout into the eighth inning but ended up with a no-decision.

Our View: Lincecum is 5-0 in seven starts following Giants losses and is a top-tiered option in roto formats. However, in head-to-head leagues where wins are king, the Giants right-hander doesn't carry the same value. His performance today and the Giants lack of run support is all the proof one needs.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 5/20, 11:19 PM CT
Giants RHP Tim Lincecum picked up his sixth win of the season as San Fran managed to hang on for an exciting 6-5 win over the Colorado Rockies. Lincecum pitched six innings, surrendering three runs (all earned) on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Lincecum is now 2-0 over four starts this month with 10 walks versus 29 strikeouts.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 5/15, 9:20 PM CT
Tim Lincecum dominated the Astros for six innings on Thursday striking out 10 batters in a no-decision (the bullpen blew the game). Lincecum allowed five hits, three walks and three runs in the outing.

Our View: Tim left with a 7-3 lead but the Giants pen imploded blowing what seemed like a sure win. Lincecum now has a 1.92 ERA and 63 K in 56.1 IP in what is shaping up to be one of the most dominating seasons seen on the west coast in years.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 5/10, 7:29 PM CT
San Francisco RHP Tim Lincecum is off to a fabulous start, picking up his fifth win today as the Giants put an 8-2 whooping on the Philadelphia Phillies. Tincecum pitched eight full innings, allowing just two runs (both earned) on four hits, walking just one and striking out eight.

Our View: Lincecum did surrender two home runs, but those are two of four he has give up total this season. He now sits at 5-1, touting a lowly 1.61 ERA with an outstanding 18 walks versus 53 strike outs.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/4, 4:21 PM CT
Tim Lincecum's ERA dropped again on Sunday, even though he allowed four runs. The right-hander worked six innings against the Phillies and served up six hits, but all four runs were unearned. Lincecum also walked two, struck out five, hit a batter, and tossed a pair of wild pitches in the no-decision.

Our View: We get the sense that Tim didn't have his best stuff against the Phillies, but fantasy owners will take the ERA help. He is quickly becoming a fantasy ace despite the lack of run support.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 4/25, 12:03 AM CT
Tim Lincecum dominated the Padres on Thursday night in a good old fashioned pitcher's duel as the Giants defeated the Padres 1-0. Lincecum punched out nine Padres and gave up just four hits in 6.1 innings as he moved to 4-0.

Our View: Not since Pedro Martinez has such a little man come along with such big stuff. Lincecum fired 95 mph fastballs all night and no one could touch them, including Adrian Gonzalez who he punched out three times.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 4/19, 3:09 PM CT
San Francisco RHP Tim Lincecum picked up his third win of the season as the Giants took the St. Louis Cardinals to the loss column 3-0. Lincecum completed seven innings of work, throwing 95 pitches (60 for strikes) without allowing a single run through six hits.

Our View: Lincecum walked three and struck out five along the way, influencing 12 ground outs and just four fly balls. This outing brings his seasonal ERA to a lowly 1.57.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 4/13, 6:57 PM CT
Tim Lincecum struck out 11 Cardinals on Sunday en route to his second win of the season. The young right-hander allowed six hits and two runs over six innings. His ERA rose a little, to 2.25, and he now owns 22 strikeouts over 16 frames.

Our View: What else can we say? Lincecum is a stud stuck on a pretty bad club. The Giants are 3-0 in games he's pitched this season.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 4/3, 2:06 AM CT
Much like the Dodgers did with Chad Billingsley, the Giants chose to leave their scheduled starter, Tim Lincecum, on the bench because of rain at the start of the game. When the rain cleared, Lincecum was summoned into the game. Unfortunately rain struck again and the game was halted for over an hour, but when play resumed the Giants allowed Lincecum to continue pitching. All told he pitched four innings allowing only one run while striking out four to pick up the victory.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 3/23, 6:50 PM CT
Tim Lincecum, after allowing seven runs in his previous start, held the Rangers to two runs over six innings. He allowed seven hits and walked one. The impressive line of his start was his seven strike outs. The hard-throwing right-hander dropped his ERA from 9.00 to 6.23.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/17, 8:29 PM CT
Tim Lincecum performed very well in his minor league outing on Monday, according to MLB.com. He threw 85 pitches and recorded eight strikeouts with only one walk, and allowed two runs on five hits. After the session he stated, "I feel like I'm on schedule now". Lincecum has been slowed by a mildly sprained right groin, but should be fine in time to make his first start from his number three spot in the rotation.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/17, 9:15 AM CT
Tim Lincecum won't take part in Monday's exhibition game with the Giants. Instead, he'll work an A-ball game, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "Not to say I couldn't get my innings in in Tucson," he said. "I guess if anything happens to my groin, they figured I'd have to drive 2 1/2 hours back (from Tucson). So it's for precautionary reasons. It's nice to know they're taking care of you and pulling for you." Lincecum missed a recent start due to soreness in his groin, so the Giants moved him to the A-game in order to better be able to control the setting of the contest. As Lincecum said, it's just a precaution, so he should be fine.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 3/8, 8:58 AM CT
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Friday that Tim Lincecum's next start will be bumped back a few days due to a sore groin, according to the San Francisco Gate. He's still slated to throw a bullpen session Saturday, so the ailment appears to be minor.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 3/4, 6:47 PM CT
In his second spring-training performance, Tim Lincecum allowed three runs and four hits in 2 1/3 innings, according to ESPN. Lincecum is viewed as a favorite to earn a spot in San Francisco’s starting rotation this season but still has work to do.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 2/9, 8:23 AM CT
Tim Lincecum said he plans to throw his slider more often this spring with the hopes of establishing it along with his hard fastball, lollipop curve and changeup, according to the Contra Costa Times. "I plan to be a four-pitch starter," he said. "I'd love for it to be a pitch I can throw for strikes, but it's looking like a strikeout pitch. The more I throw it, the more comfortable it feels." Lincecum added that he was really happy to remain with the Giants after he was nearly traded to Toronto in December. The young hurler struck out 150 batters in 146 IP, while posting a 3.94 ERA and 1.28 WHIP last season.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 12/13, 11:45 AM CT
Tim Lincecum won't be leaving the Bay. GM Brian Sabean said that the signing of Aaron Rowand ensures that both Lincecum and Matt Cain will not be traded. The Blue Jays had an offer on the table of Alex Rios for either of the pitchers, but that deal is now dead. "I did my job, I listened," Sabean said in the Mercury News. "I said before that's what we have to do as a last-place team. I never put either pitcher on the market or said I would trade either pitcher... We know the value of both individuals, believe me, more so now that we've gone through this exercise. They may be the two hottest names in baseball."
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 11/30, 12:01 PM CT
The Giants would love to land a top young hitter over the offseason, but GM Brian Sabean would have to be blown away to include either Tim Lincecum or Matt Cain in any deal. "We have to listen; that's our job after finishing in last place," Sabean said in the Mercury News. "But I'd be in shock if there's something as good as what their future brings. There's too much chatter around the industry about both these guys." The Giants have been in discussions with the Marlins about Miguel Cabrera. However, Sabean has been frustrated about Florida's steep asking price. "I hate to speak to somebody else's business, but you wonder if they really want to trade the player or if they absolutely, positively have to win the deal in such a one-sided fashion," Sabean said. "Maybe they're not going to get something done. I don't know." Angels owner Arte Moreno has also publicly expressed frustration with how much the Marlins are asking in return for Cabrera.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 9/21, 5:08 AM CT
The Giants have decided to shut down Tim Lincecum as a precaution, the AP reports. Lincecum (7-5, 4.00 ERA) was scheduled to start Friday but will be replaced by Pat Misch. "We just feel at this point with his workload this year and last year it's best to shut him down," Bruce Bochy said. "We just feel it's the best thing. He's fine (with the decision). It's the best thing to do. He did have a little fatigue a couple weeks ago." Including his time in Triple-A, Lincecum threw 177 1/3 innings this season.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsFriday 8/31, 11:13 PM CT
Tim Lincecum, who was scheduled to start Saturday night, will have his turn skipped to give him some extra rest, according to the AP. Manager Bruce Bochy said Lincecum would take Noah Lowry's Tuesday start.

Our View: It's a smart move to not have the rookie throw too many innings this year. He's the stud of their rotation and the Giants are going nowhere this year.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/29, 4:59 AM CT
Bruce Bochy says Tim Lincecum will likely have his next turn in the rotation skipped as a precaution -- and the other starters will likely have one or two extra days between outings after Thursday's off day - the AP reports. "We may make an adjustment," Bochy said. "We're talking about it now." A six-man rotation for September also is a possibility.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 8/18, 8:19 AM CT
The Giants placed Tim Lincecum on the bereavement list Friday. He left the team because a family member is dealing with a health issue. The Giants expect him to rejoin the team in time for his scheduled start on Tuesday.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 7/16, 7:49 AM CT
At this time, the Giants don't plan to limit rookie Tim Lincecum's innings this season. "We'll see where we're at in September, but right now, we don't have any plans to monitor him or hold him back," manager Bruce Bochy told the Contra Costa Times. He's on pace for a total of 190 innings between Triple-A and the Giants. If he starts to run out of gas the last month, the Giants probably will curtail his innings, but it's a good to see they want to keep pushing him.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 6/28, 3:19 PM CT
Manager Bruce Bochy will not skip Tim Lincecum's next turn, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The right-hander, who tossed seven shutout innings in his last outing, will make his next start on Sunday against the D'Backs.

Manager Bruce Bochy has not yet decided whether or not he'll skip Tim Lincecum's next scheduled start on Thursday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Lincecum tossed seven shutout innings in his last outing, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Bochy decides to let the right-hander take his turn.
Tim Lincecum, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 6/21, 9:33 AM CT
Manager Bruce Bochy had considered skipping Tim Lincecum's next start, but because of schedule issues, the right-hander will take his regular turn on Monday against the Padres, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Even though Russ Ortiz will come off the disabled list Monday, Tim Lincecum will stay in the starting rotation for the Giants. Ortiz will work in relief, according to the Contra Costa Times. "We knew even before he started a game up here there was a good chance once he came up here he was going to stay," manager Bruce Bochy said of Lincecum. "He's showed in the three starts that he's got great stuff and he's going to have some success up here." The rookie has a 2.95 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and has struck out 21 batters in 18 1/3 innings thus far and should be starting in all fantasy leagues.

Tim Lincecum was unimpressive in his big-league debut against the Phillies on Sunday. He lasted just 4 1/3 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on five walks and five hits, including two that cleared the fence, while striking out five. Despite this rough first outing, Lincecum still brings a ton of potential to the table, and he's still worth a look in all formats.

Tim Lincecum didn't give up a hit in 6 1/3 innings for Triple-A Fresno Monday, though he did walk six batters and gave up his first run of the year. Lincecum wasn't allowed to continue the no-hit bid due to a high pitch count, according to the Mercury News. In four starts spanning 25 innings this year, Lincecum has a 0.36 ERA while striking out 32 batters. GM Brian Sabean said before Lincecum's start Monday that the right-hander is knocking on the big league door, even though, at the moment, the club has no place for him in the rotation. "If he continues on this path, he's certainly not a minor league pitcher," Sabean said. "At some point, you've got to admit that and make room. He's on his way to forcing the issue."
