Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 7/21, 3:19 PM CT
Giants' beat writer Andrew Baggarly is reporting on his Twitter page that the Giants have optioned Kevin Frandsen to Triple-A Fresno. In a corresponding move, the team recalled Matt Downs from Triple-A.

Our View: Frandsen should be used to the trip from San Fran to Fresno by now, as he has been back-and-forth several times this season. He was only hitting .128 with the Giants this season, so he did nothing to help his own cause to stay with the team.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 7/6, 6:34 PM CT
The Giants called Kevin Frandsen up from the minors on Monday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Frandsen takes the DL-bound Randy Johnson's spot on San Francisco's roster. He should see spot time in the Giants' infield, but with little power or speed, should not receive any attention from fantasy owners.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 6/13, 1:33 PM CT
The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Kevin Frandsen has been sent back to Triple-A Fresno after the team activated Travis Ishikawa off the bereavement list.

Our View: Frandsen knew it was going to be a short stay with the team, and that turned out to be the case. He holds no fantasy value, and will continue to have none if and when he gets called back up.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 6/9, 7:21 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen has been recalled by the Giants from Triple-A Fresno, according to TSN.

Our View: He will provide depth in the infield with Travis Ishikawa on the bereavement list. Frandsen was hitless over 16 at-bats this season, and does not garner fantasy attention for his likely brief stint with the club.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 5/30, 4:18 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen has been optioned to Triple-A Fresno by the Giants, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Reliever Sergio Romo was activated from the DL as the adjoining move.

Our View: Frandsen was hitless over 16 at-bats with the Giants prior to being demoted. He will not be missed in fantasy leagues while working on his hitting in the minors.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 5/16, 11:20 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen has been recalled from Triple-A to replace Juan Uribe, who was placed on the bereavement list, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Frandsen hit .291 with three homers and 17 RBI in Triple-A this season.

Our View: Frandsen failed to win the starting second base job out of spring training, but he is getting a chance to contribute with Uribe out. No fantasy value here, but good luck to Frandsen.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 3/31, 12:30 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen was optioned to Triple-A Fresno by the Giants, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He was unable to beat Emmanuel Burriss for the starting role at second base, and no longer merits fantasy attention.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 2/27, 8:20 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen hit a solo home run in his only at bat on Friday as the Royals beat the Giants 6-1.

Our View: Frandsen is competing for the starting second baseman's job with a number of players in San Francisco. He is a good contact hitter, but has traditionally lacked power and above-average speed.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 2/20, 2:04 PM CT
The Giants' fans want Kevin Frandsen to be the opening day second baseman as he is a local kid, according to the SF Chronicle. He said, "I think everyone knows when I am healthy and able to do my thing and have an opportunity, I think I let that speak for itself. You are a year older and all of that, but the way I look at it is, it's a big opportunity to hopefully cement myself into the San Francisco Giants, being a name in the lineup all the time."

Our View: The source lists his odds to start at 3-1, and he would have started in 2008 if not for a torn Achilles' tendon. He would offer little speed or power, but could hit for a solid average, and would be worth a look for NL-only leagues if he wins the No. 1 role at second out of spring training. He will be competing with Emmanuel Burriss, Eugenio Velez and potentially veteran Juan Uribe.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 2/9, 7:16 AM CT
The starting gig at second base is wide open in San Francisco with Kevin Frandsen, Eugenio Velez and Emmanuel Burriss competing, according to the SF Chronicle. Veteran Juan Uribe will be in the mix as well.

Our View: Either Frandsen or Velez should be the opening day starter. Frandsen could challenge a solid average, but does not offer much speed or power. Velez has great speed, but may end up as the primary backup in a utility role.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 9/27, 10:11 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen was activated from the 60-day on Saturday, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Frandsen was on the DL due to a ruptured Achilles tendon and is ready to battle for a spot in the 2009 starting infield for the Giants.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 9/24, 7:00 AM CT
Kevin Frandsen is recovering from a ruptured left Achilles' tendon, but manager Bruce Bochy has not ruled him out from playing in a game this year, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Frandsen will battle for a role with the Giants in 2009, potentially as a starting middle infielder.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsSunday 9/14, 1:10 PM CT
Frandsen will likely player winter ball in Mexico, the Contra Costa Times reports. He is working his way back from a rupture Achilles' tendon.

Our View: Frandsen will compete for a spot next season, possibly as a starting middle infielder.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 5/27, 9:31 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen, who is likely out for the year with an injured left Achilles tendon, has begun walking under controlled conditions, according to MLB.com. "It's tight, but it feels great," he said.

Our View: Barring a miracle, we won't see Fransen anytime this season.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 5/15, 3:18 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen has been transferred to the 60-day DL, according to the AP. Frandsen is out for the season recovering from surgery on his ruptured Achilles’ tendon.

Our View: Frandsen did not see any action this season, and held no fantasy value prior to today's move.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsSunday 3/30, 2:31 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21, on Sunday. Frandsen struggled early on this spring, and thereafter he suffered torn left Achilles' tendon. Frandsen will not play again this season.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/24, 5:56 PM CT
Kevin Frandsen might miss the entire season after further injuring his Achilles tendon, possibly rupturing it, this according to the AP. So much for Frandsen being involved heavily this year. With all the injuries on the Giants infield right now, Eugenio Velez appears to have fallen into a starting role with the team. Considering the fact he is raw the road could be bumpy, but Velez has a lot of speed, is hitting the heck out of the ball in spring, and certainly makes an attractive free agent pick up at this point.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 3/21, 10:21 AM CT
Manager Bruce Bochy admitted that Kevin Frandsen could be DL-bound to start the year because of a sore Achilles tendon, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He was in line for plenty of playing time at third, short and second, so this is a bad time for him to get hurt. Eugenio Velez could see more action as a result.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsFriday 3/14, 9:20 AM CT
Kevin Frandsen has been slowed recently by a sore Achilles tendon and was plunked on the helmet by a pitch Thursday, forcing him to exit the game, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Manager Bruce Bochy said Frandsen could have stayed in the game. Frandsen already has been replaced at shortstop by Brian Bocock this spring, and any chance he had to bump Ray Durham off second is gone; Durham is hitting .387 in exhibition action, while Frandsen is hitting just .226.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 3/6, 2:04 PM CT
CBS Sportsline is reporting that the Giants Kevin Frandsen is out as the San Francisco shortstop. The 25-year-old infielder was replaced by non-invitee Brian Bocock. The team continues to look for a replacement for Omar Vizquel. Frandsen started at second base against Kansas City on Wednesday. A day later, he was at third base when the Giants played the Angels. Frandsen came into spring training expecting to compete with Ray Durham for the starting job at second base but was moved to shortstop when Vizquel had surgery to remove a torn medial meniscus on Feb. 27. Vizquel is expected to return sometime in mid-to-late April. Bocock, 23, hasn't played above Class A during two years in the Giants' minor league system.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsThursday 1/24, 11:14 AM CT
If the Giants don't end up acquiring a third baseman, Kevin Frandsen looks to be the obvious choice to start at the hot corner, according to the Mercury News. Frandsen hasn't played third since college and could be the team's second baseman of the future. There had been rumblings that he could battle Ray Durham for the starting job at second.
Kevin Frandsen, 2B, San Francisco GiantsSunday 11/19, 10:42 AM CT
The Giants might give Kevin Frandsen a shot at their second base job in spring training, according to the Contra Costa Times. Frandsen hit .398 with a .490 OBP in the Arizona Fall League.
