Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 1/21, 8:14 AM CT
Dan Uggla will almost certainly be the Marlins' starting second baseman in 2010, according to the Miami Herald. The word came straight from team president David Samson's mouth on his weekly radio show.

Our View: After the league and the player's union spoke out against the Marlins' ever thrifty ways earlier this month, they no longer appear likely to deal him. It's not inconceivable that he could still be moved in the right deal, but consider it highly unlikely after it looked likely for so much of this offseason.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 1/18, 3:53 PM CT
Dan Uggla and the Marlins avoided arbitration on Monday by agreeing to a one-year, $7.8 million deal, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: The Marlins are still very open to trading the second baseman, something that this deal will not stop from potentially happening. While he does have a few holes in his game, he's still one of the most powerful second basemen the MLB has to offer.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 1/12, 8:22 PM CT
According to the Miami Herald, the Marlins may have extra incentive to keep Dan Uggla around next season now that MLB is making the club raise payroll.

Our View: The Marlins got an earful from MLB and the players union for not spending enough of their revenue sharing dollars on player salaries, so the team is expected to raise the payroll from $40 to $50 million. That extra cabbage would cover the $7 million that Uggla would receive in arbitration and allow him to stay with the club for one more season. They Marlins could also appease Josh Johnson with the extra cash, as he's been seeking a four-year contract extension. Stay tuned.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 1/5, 7:49 PM CT
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Dan Uggla may begin the 2010 season with the Marlins despite multiple trade rumors this offseason.

Our View: The Marlins have been actively shopping Uggla for some time, but they have been unable to move him. He will command quite a bit of scratch in arbitration and the Marlins want a payroll of around $40 million, so they may be forced to move someone else instead. Jorge Cantu could be an option.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 12/27, 12:35 PM CT
With San Francisco reluctant to part with pitcher Jonathan Sanchez, the Giants don't seem likely to acquire Florida second baseman Dan Uggla for the time being, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: If talks with the Giants completely die, Baltimore, Texas and Atlanta could all be bidders for Uggla's services. Stay tuned.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 12/21, 11:01 AM CT
The Braves have talked to Florida about Dan Uggla with possible hopes to trade for him and move him to left field, according to Fox Sports.

Our View: Uggla would provide the power bat Atlanta is looking for and is certainly being shopped by Florida, though it's unknown whether Uggla would be receptive to the change of position, and if he'd be able to do so in the first place. Uggla's name should continue to be a hot topic this offseason.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 12/17, 8:01 PM CT
There's a possbility that second baseman Dan Uggla could actually stay with the Florida Marlins, according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.

Our View: A "possibility" only, however, as most believe he is still likely to be shipped out of South Florida.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 12/11, 8:56 AM CT
Talks between the Giants and Marlins regarding Dan Uggla are getting "warmer," according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Our View: As of yet, there has been "no agreement" on the players the Giants might send Florida's way, but knowing the Marlins history with this sort of thing, they either are already considered quite good, or will turn out to be.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 12/10, 5:45 PM CT
Finding a suitable trade partner for Dan Uggla remains a top priority for the Marlins, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Marlins are expected to tender a contract to Uggla by Saturday's deadline. If the Marlins are forced to, they could find a way to squeeze him into the 2010 budget. But even if it comes to that point, look for the team to continue dangling him on the trade market. It is speculated that the Giants will be the most likely team to make a move to acquire him.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 12/8, 8:32 AM CT
The Orioles are among the list of teams that have had preliminary discussions with the Marlins regarding a trade for Dan Uggla, according to MLB.com.

Our View: One point of interest here is that Uggla would be asked to move to third base if he went to Baltimore given Brian Roberts' presence at second. Such a move would increase Uggla's value in 2010 by giving him multi-position eligibility, but decrease his value after that given that he'd lose the much-more valuable second base eligibility. Still, potential trades are all just rumors at this point, so we'll have to wait and see what Florida does with Uggla.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 12/6, 9:49 AM CT
The Giants are reported to be interested in acquiring slugging Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: "Others" are also said to be interested in the arbitration-eligible infielder/potential future outfielder. Separate recent reports have said the Giants rejected an offer of Uggla for phenom pitcher Madison Bumgarner. That would have been quite a get for the ever-savvy Marlins.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 11/30, 10:05 AM CT
Despite recent speculation, the Rangers are not believed to be interested in acquiring Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla, according to MLB.com.

Our View: That is not to say they won't get interested at some point. Even if they don't, other clubs will, and the arbitration-eligible Uggla is almost certain to be moved before spring training.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 11/15, 12:50 PM CT
According to the Miami Herald, the Marlins' number one offseason priority is trading second baseman Dan Uggla for "cheap, young talent."

Our View: It's about that time. Uggla is due a raise in arbitration this offseason after hitting 123 home runs the past four seasons, and the Marlins believe Emilio Bonifacio is ready to take over at second base. The chances of Uggla being on the team's opening day 2010 roster are very slim.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 11/12, 12:38 PM CT
According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, there is a possibility that Dan Uggla could make a move to left field.

Our View: The Braves are looking for a corner outfield bat with pop, and could be interested in making a deal with the Marlins, who could shed salary by trading Uggla. The problem is that the slugging second baseman hasn't played in the outfield since 2004 when he was with Arizona's Double-A club. Still, the Braves are desperate for power and Uggla has blasted at least 30 homers in each of the last three seasons.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 9/29, 9:52 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a homer and a pair of runs scored in Florida's 5-4 win over the Braves on Tuesday.

Our View: Looks like the slugging second baseman saved his power surge for the end of the season. He's having his most homer-happy month of the year, launching eight over the wall. He's also driven in 17 runs.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 9/28, 9:23 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 1-for-4 with a double in tonight's 4-0 loss at Atlanta.

Our View: Uggla had Florida's only extra base hit in the shutout loss. He is only batting .219 this month, but has four doubles, seven homers and 16 RBI.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 9/22, 9:47 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit his 30th home run on Tuesday night, and while it was his the only hit on the day, it proved to be the game winner as the Marlins downed the Phillies 3-0.

Our View: Uggla now has three straight seasons of 30 home runs or more and four straight with 80 or more RBI. He's one of the game's best power options at second base.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 9/17, 8:11 AM CT
According to the Miami Herald, there is a strong possibility that the Marlins will trade slugging second baseman Dan Uggla this offseason.

Our View: Uggla is poised to make at least $8 million through salary arbitration next year, and with Florida's penny-pinching history, they likely won't pay up. The Fish have rookie of the year candidate Chris Coghlan, who can play second base, and with the season he's had he (along with Emilio Bonifacio) deserves more playing time. Uggla apparently doesn't like the idea, saying he's sad that he'll have to find a new home.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 9/15, 11:23 PM CT
Dan Uggla's two-run homer off of Adam Wainwright in the sixth inning was the difference in the Brewers 2-1 win over St. Louis on Tuesday night. It was his only hit of the game.

Our View: Uggla now has 29 homers and 78 RBI on the season. His .244 average is disappointing, but it's hard to argue with that kind of power production from a second baseman.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/2, 10:01 PM CT
A day after laying in to superstar Hanley Ramirez about his lack of effort, Dan Uggla took charge. The slugging second baseman went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in the Marlins' 8-7 win over the Braves on Wednesday.

Our View: Uggla, known for his power but not his average, has heated up since August 1st. He's hitting over .300 since then and still has seven homers over that stretch, including two in his last two games.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 8/31, 9:24 PM CT
Dan Uggla was productive in tonight's 5-2 home loss to the Braves, as he went 2-for-2 with two RBI. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: He closed out August with a .298 batting average and 16 RBI. This is good, since he only hit .241 with eight RBI in July.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 8/20, 10:21 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 on Thursday night, but drove in the Marlins' only run by grounding into a first inning fielder's choice, as Florida lost 4-1 in Houston.

Our View: Uggla has 13 RBI so far this month, and remains an elite run-producing second baseman despite his .242 average.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 8/14, 9:27 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit what proved to be a game-winning two run home run in the seventh inning on Friday night, as the Marlins held on to beat the Rockies 6-5 at home.

Our View: Uggla is batting just .241 this season, but remains an elite power option at second base with his 21 home runs and 62 RBI.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 8/11, 10:22 PM CT
The resurgent Dan Uggla played hero on Tuesday night, singling in the game-winning run in the 11th inning a 9-8 Marlins win over Houston. The Marlins trailed 7-2 at one point.

Our View: Uggla went 3-for-5 on Tuesday, and now has four multi-hit games in August after having just four in all of July. His 20 home runs and 60 RBI on the season are quite nice, as well.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 8/5, 9:26 PM CT
Dan Uggla had a big night Wednesay, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, but the Nats beat the Marlins for the second straight night, edging them 5-4 at home.

Our View: Uggla is having a Jack Cust-esque season in 2009, batting just .232 with 94 strikeouts while still managing to drive in 57 runs and have 20 home runs. The average is ugly, but the production is real.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/8, 5:19 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit a three run ninth inning bomb on Wednesday, sealing Chris Volstad's shutout of the Giants.

Our View: Uggla still went just 1-for-5, however, and is batting only .223 on the year. His power is still there, though, if you can take the anemic average.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 6/25, 9:04 PM CT
Dan Uggla homered for the second time in three games on Thursday, as the Marlins routed Baltimore 11-3.

Our View: Uggla is still batting just .226 on the season, but remains a decent option because of his consistent power. If you can weather the average, his 15 home runs are worth a place in your starting lineup.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 6/20, 9:03 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit his second home run in the last three games on Saturday as the Marlins beat the Yankees 2-1. Uggla went 1-for-4 with the homer, a run scored, and an RBI in the win.

Our View: Uggla has struggled all season, but his recent power showing gives fantasy owners some hope. Uggla has never been a big average guy, but if the power comes back in the second half he could return to being a solid fantasy second baseman.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 6/18, 10:51 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit his first home run since June 3 in the Marlins rain-shortened 2-1 win at Fenway Park on Thursday.

Our View: Uggla continues to struggle on the season, though, and is batting just .218. He is not worth starting in almost any format right now.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 6/5, 10:31 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Giants at home.

Our View: Uggla has two hits in three of his last four games. He is hitting very well so far this month, after hitting a dismal .200 in May and .218 in April.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 6/3, 10:42 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit his second home run in as many nights, but the Marlins still lost 9-6 to the Brewers. He finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Our View: Uggla is showing some definite signs of life with RBI in six of his last seven games. He has 11 home runs and 39 RBI on the season despite hitting only .219.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 6/2, 9:20 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 2-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 10-1 win over Milwaukee at home. He hit two singles and a two-run homer.

Our View: Uggla collected his 10th homer of the season, and No. 100 of his career. It only took him 509 games to reach the milestone.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 5/27, 9:14 PM CT
Dan Uggla was 3-for-4 and ripped his ninth home run of the season in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Phillies. He also doubled, scored two runs and drove in two in the game.

Our View: Uggla has been brutal this season, but has been showing signs of life lately. After one of the worst slumps of his career he has rebounded since May 20th and has hit five homers and driven in ten over that stretch. He went hitless in only two games since then and has raised his average to .211. Two weeks ago it was hovering around .180.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 5/25, 6:59 AM CT
The Giants have reportedly inquired about Marlins' second baseman Dan Uggla, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: It is believed that the Giants would have to give up Matt Cain or Jonathan Sanchez in a deal to acquire Uggla. The Giants could also target Mark DeRosa or Nick Johnson if a trade with Florida does not happen.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/23, 11:52 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit his eighth home run of the season against Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Our View: While he is still hitting just .208 this year, he has strung together an eight-game hit streak and has left the yard four times in his past five games. Uggla remains the classic boom or bust type player, who can go yard on any given at-bat but will also log an occasional 0-for-4, two or three strikeout performance.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 5/21, 9:38 PM CT
Dan Uggla was 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 loss to Arizona.

Our View: Uggla has now homered in three consecutive games after failing to go deep since April 25th prior to this stretch. Let's hope this is the start of one of those patented Uggla hot streaks we have yet to see this season.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 5/20, 7:45 PM CT
Dan Uggla was 1-for-3 with a home run, a run scored, and four RBI in the Marlins' 8-6 win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Our View: Uggla has been awful this season, so it is good to see him go deep. He started off slow last season, but he ended up finishing with a very impressive line. Fantasy owners have to be hoping that Uggla is going to get hot, and if he is a free agent keep a close eye on him going forward.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 5/8, 4:48 PM CT
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Dan Uggla will get the day off today. He has been replaced in the lineup by rookie call-up Chris Coghlan.

Our View: Uggla could benefit from a day off. He's hitting a meager .196 this season and just six of his 18 RBI have come since April 16th. Get him out of your lineup tonight and hope that this day of rest propels him into one of those patented Uggla hot streaks.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/2, 5:13 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Dan Uggla is optimistic he could return to the diamond Sunday after being scratched from today's lineup with a tight left hamstring, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: If Uggla does not start tomorrow, he may be available to pinch-hit. It sounds like the ailment is minor.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/2, 11:22 AM CT
Second baseman Dan Uggla has been scratched from Saturday's lineup due to left hamstring tightness, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. Emilio Bonifacio will start at second, and Wes Helms will handle third base.

Our View: Uggla is presumably day-to-day, but the details are sparse at this point. We'll let you know when we hear more about his ailment.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 4/24, 9:34 PM CT
Dan Uggla swatted a three-run homer in the first inning of the Marlins' 7-3 loss to the Phillies. It was his only hit on the day, but he also drew two walks.

Our View: Uggla has three homers and 15 RBI, which is nice power production from a second baseman, but his .207 average is likely dragging your team down. Hopefully you have a high average player to even things out.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/15, 10:38 PM CT
Dan Uggla continues to drive in runs. He added three more RBI to his growing total with a 2-for-4 effort in the Marlins 10-4 blowout of the Braves.

Our View: The former Rule 5 draft pick now has 12 RBI on the young season and has quickly upped his average to a solid .286. He may be entering one of those hot streaks we mentioned.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 4/14, 9:21 PM CT
Dan Uggla provided most of the offense in the Marlin's 5-1 win over the Braves on Tuesday. He was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Our View: Ugglas now has nine RBI on the season to go along with a pair of home runs. The average is low, but he has yet to embark on one of his patented hot streaks this season.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 4/10, 10:14 PM CT
Dan Uggla homered in the Marlins 5-4 win over the Mets on Friday. It was his only hit of the contest.

Our View: Uggla should mash once again this season. He already has two long balls on the season, but fantasy owners would like more in the average department.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 4/3, 6:49 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla was scratched from Friday's lineup because of tightness in his left calf, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The move was made as a mere precaution, and Uggla will be ready to go in time for the season opener on Monday.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 4/3, 5:06 PM CT
Second baseman Dan Uggla has been scratched from the Florida lineup Friday night, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: The team has not disclosed the reason as to why Uggla will be held out. He reportedly looked fine during batting practice. Andy Gonzalez will play second.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 3/24, 3:23 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-1 loss to Minnesota.

Our View: He is only batting .220, but has four homers so far in the Grapefruit League. Uggla should remain a strong source for power among fantasy second baseman for 2009.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 3/12, 11:47 PM CT
Dan Uggla left the yard twice against the Mets on Thursday, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Our View: Uggla's spring has been a pretty typical representation of his career, as he's belted three home runs but also struck out 10 times compared to just one walk. While he may not be the best all-around player, he still provides unprecedented power from the second base position.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 3/11, 4:36 PM CT
Dan Uggla struck out three times in three at-bats against the Cardinals Wednesday. He's now hitting .250 this spring.

Our View: Uggla is going to have days like this. His average will tend to hover in the .250 to .260 range and he will strike out a lot, but as long as he provides pop he's a valuable commodity at second base.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 3/5, 3:18 PM CT
Dan Uggla was 1-for-3 with a solo homerun in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Orioles. It was Uggla's first homerun of the spring and he's currently hitting .154.

Our View: Uggla's slow start this spring shouldn't scare you. He's still one of the best power options at a thin second base position. He'll go quickly on draft day.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 3/1, 4:49 PM CT
Dan Uggla didn't see the ball well on Sunday, going just 1-for-4 with three strikeouts.

Our View: Uggla isn't much of a hitter for average, but his 32 home runs and 92 RBI mean that he'll have plenty of value in fantasy, especially at second base.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 2/12, 1:03 PM CT
Dan Uggla has won his arbitration case with the Marlins, according to the Associated Press. He was awarded $5.35MM, and the Marlins only offered $4.4MM.

Our View: The star second baseman only made $417,000 in 2008, and was the first player to win his arbitration case so far.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 2/11, 10:45 AM CT
Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla will have his arbitration hearing on Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Uggla is seeking $5.35 million, but the Marlins are offering $4.4 million to the power-hitting second baseman. The ruling will likely be announced in a day or two.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 2/4, 8:31 PM CT
Dan Uggla is headed to an arbitration hearing, according to the Palm Beach Post It will be held on February 11th. He said that there aren't any hard feelings and that his agent's negative comments towards the club don't reflect his feelings.

Our View: Uggla's power numbers in 2008 of 32 home runs and 92 RBI certainly warrant a big raise, but his .260 average and mediocre defense will give the Marlins a decent shot at winning their case.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 1/21, 7:58 AM CT
The Palm Beach Post reports that Dan Uggla would like a long-term deal, but doesn't believe it will happen. His agent, Jeff Borris, said, "If I were a Marlins fan, I'd like to see Hanley and Dan, that double-play combination, like (Alan) Trammel and (Lou) Whitaker, get locked up, but that doesn't look like it’s going to happen."

Our View: Borris noted that Ramirez received a long-term contract, but Uggla did not. We're not sure we'd put the duo in the class of Whitaker and Trammel, but Uggla does provide fantasy owners with numbers. He hit 32 home runs last season, though his average was just .260.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 1/20, 4:56 PM CT
The Associated Press reports that the Florida Marlins and second baseman Dan Uggla could not agree to terms on a deal Tuesday, which means the All-Star will now enter arbitration.

Our View: The two parties have reportedly encountered a $950,000 impasse. Uggla, who wore down considerably in the second half a season ago, is asking for $5.35 million in 2009, while the Marlins will only go as high as $4.4 million. Uggla, who is entering his fourth season, made $417,000 in 2008.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 12/8, 12:28 AM CT
The Palm Beach Post reports that Dan Uggla, who's already started his off-season conditioning program, said he's looking forward to returning to Florida, where he has hit 90 home runs and earned two All-Star nods in his first three seasons in the majors. The Marlins have already dealt First baseman Mike Jacobs, left fielder Josh Willingham and pitchers Scott Olsen and Kevin Gregg this offseason.

Our View: Of all of the Marlins' remaining arbitration-eligible players, Uggla stands to get the biggest contract - anywhere from $5 million to $6 million - after hitting .260 with 32 home runs and 92 RBI last season.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 11/11, 11:50 AM CT
The Marlins reiterated to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that they plan to keep second baseman Dan Uggla despite his projected bump up to around $5 million.

Our View: The Marlins apparently plan to use Emiliano Bonifacio as a utility player, which makes the deal with the Nats even more confusing. Anyway, Uggla should once again provide fantasy owners with plenty of pop, but he'll be even more exposed in what could be a weaker Marlins lineup.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 10/25, 6:54 PM CT
Despite many rumors otherwise, the Florida Marlins will keep second baseman Dan Uggla unless they get an offer that they simply cannot refuse, according to the Miami Herald. They have also decided to raise their payroll to at least $30 million.

Our View: Uggla hit 32 home runs with 92 RBI while sporting a .260 average. He will once again be a top fantasy second baseman next season, providing unique power to the position.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 10/11, 2:47 PM CT
It is possible that the San Francisco Giants will make an attempt to acquire Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Uggla hit 32 bombs last year, while driving in 92 runs. The team really could use a power bat, which Uggla certainly provides.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 10/7, 9:39 AM CT
The Los Angeles Angels may make an attempt to acquire current Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla in the offseason, according to the L.A. Times.

Our View: Uggla had a nice season, hitting 32 home runs with 92 RBI. The Angels could install him at first base if Mark Teixeira departs in free agency.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/28, 4:14 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit his 32nd home run in the eighth inning to help the Marlins spoil the Mets postseason dreams. He finished the day 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Our View: Uggla is heading toward a new deal or arbitration this offseason and many believe the second basman will be available for trade. After a first half that saw him hit .286 and slug 23 home runs, Uggla fell off after his historically bad All-Star performance. He managed a .220 average and just nine home runs in the second half.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/28, 11:39 AM CT
One team that spoke to the Marlins said Dan Uggla is expected to be available for a trade, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Uggla had a strong first half before suffering an ankle injury that slowed him down after the All-Star break. He still contributed 31 homers and 91 RBI this season, and several teams would love to secure his services at second base.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 9/19, 9:40 PM CT
Dan Uggla continues to have a redeeming September which is keeping his second half partially respectable. On Friday he hit his 31st home run of the season while going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Our View: After horrendous play since his All-Star embarassment, Uggla has rebounded soundly in September. He is hitting .305 with three homers and 14 RBI in 16 games.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/14, 4:28 PM CT
Dan Uggla had two hits, two RBI and two walks on Sunday in the Marlins 8-7 victory over the Nationals.

Our View: Uggla really slumped right after the All-Star break but he seems to have rediscovered his stroke in September hitting .295 with 11 RBI in 12 games. This is also his second straight season of 30 home runs, 85 RBI and 85 runs scored, and he is the only second in baseball to have done that.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/10, 6:52 PM CT
Dan Uggla had two hits, scored a run, and knocked in two runs in the Marlins 7-3 victory over the Phillies.

Our View: Uggla is finally starting to heat up again after a prolonged slump since the All-Star game. Uggla has five hits and four RBI in his last two starts, and he has knocked in 11 runs over his last 11 appearances.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 9/6, 8:57 PM CT
One night after being credited with the game-winning RBI, Dan Uggla hit a home run, was walked and was hit in the Marlins' 5-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Our View: Uggla has struggled mightily since his terrible All-Star appearance but he is off to a good start in September and is due for a bounce back month.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 9/2, 11:11 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit a home run in the Marlins 16-14 loss to Atlanta, but he still got only one hit in six at-bats, and continues to struggle.

Our View: It was nice of Uggla to throw a home run in there for fantasy owners, but he has gone straight down since the All-Star break, failing to hit for average or much power.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 8/27, 9:07 PM CT
Dan Uggla was 2-for-3 with a homer Wednesday night, as the Marlins went on the beat the Braves 4-1.

Our View: Uggla continues to be a great source of power from the second base position.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 8/27, 12:17 PM CT
Dan Uggla drove in a a runner on Tuesday that was not himself for the first time since August 10, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. He is hitting just .190 since the All-Star break.

Our View: For whatever reason, it seems as if Uggla's wretched performance at the All-Star Game had a carryover effect. He has just five RBI in August and just one home run. His slugging percentage on the month is only .286. Hopefully, for the sake of fantasy owners, he can break out of his slump and get back to hitting.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 8/25, 1:19 PM CT
Dan Uggla was benched Sunday after going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts Saturday, but he is confident he will get back on track, according to the Miami Herald. He said, "It's just a matter of time before I get hot again."

Our View: He is only hitting .189 since the All-Star break. He feels he will get hot again, and hopefully it will happen down the stretch in September, when fantasy owners need him the most.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/24, 2:01 PM CT
Florida second baseman Dan Uggla is not in the starting lineup today, believed to be the result punishment for his two botched double plays and 0-for-3 with the strikeouts on Saturday, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: Uggla hasn’t had a great road trip - 3 for 16 with a home run. He ran through a stop sign in San Francisco last week to cost Florida a run in a 4-3 loss. Alfredo Amezaga gets the start in his place.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 8/21, 7:04 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks in the Marlins loss to San Fransisco on Thursday.

Our View: Uggla now has 27 home runs on the season. He should continue to be a great source of power from the second base position.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 8/14, 9:03 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 1-for-3 in the Marlins loss to St. Louis, but was thrown out at second base when he did not hustle around the bases. He also struck out in his two other at-bats and committed his ninth error of the season.

Our View: Not a good night for Uggla, and August has not been a good month for him. The second sacker is now hitting .213 on the month, and his on-base percentage in the same time period is .302.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 8/10, 1:07 PM CT
Dan Uggla blames his hitting slump on weakness in his ailing ankle, according to the Miami Herald. Uggla is hitting .162 since the All-Star Game, and said, "I've been struggling ever since I came back from the ankle injury. It's just not as strong as it was before."

Our View: Uggla has gone hitless in four of his last six games, and hasn't homered in nine-straight contests.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 8/8, 10:03 PM CT
Dan Uggla had another night without a hit as he went 0-for-4 to drop his average to .261.

Our View: Uggla is 0-for-12 over the past three games and has only two hits in his last 21 AB (.095). He has still been a fine power option with 26 home runs and 67 RBI, but his production has fallen off immensely over the past month.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/30, 10:02 PM CT
Dan Uggla blasted his 26th home run of the year on his way to two hits and two RBI for the Marlins.

Our View: This was Uggla's second home run in four games after a stretch of one long ball in 20 games. He is well on pace to establish a career-high in home runs after hitting 31 last season, though his average has slipped to below .270 due to a terrible month of July (.169).
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 7/29, 9:27 PM CT
Dan Uggla continues to struggle, as he went 0-for-4 against the Mets, and he is hitting .108 since the All-Star break.

Our View: Maybe that rough All-Star game is still on his mind, as Uggla has really seen his performance dip since that time. Don't give up on him in fantasyland, however, as a bounce back could be just around the corner.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 7/27, 5:52 PM CT
Dan Uggla scored three runs and launched his 25th home run of the season on Sunday in the Marlins' 9-6 loss to the Cubs. Coming into Sunday's game, Uggla was hitting .067 since the midsummer classic.

Our View: Will he bounce back? You would think so, but that game will be hard to forget. His value is probably as low as its been all season. He has 107 strikeouts on the year.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 7/24, 6:06 PM CT
Dan Uggla is not in the Marlins' starting lineup, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: He only has one hit in 22 at-bats since committing three errors and going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the All Star Game. He is expected to return to the lineup Friday.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/23, 9:28 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 on Wednesday and is now just 1-for-22 since his terrible All-Star appearance.

Our View: As if Uggla's struggles weren't enough, Hanley Ramirez is also 2-for-21 since the break. Both are too talented to keep up this level of ineptitude for long.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/18, 9:14 PM CT
After playing arguably the worst All-Star Game in history, Dan Uggla continued his struggles Friday. He went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and is now 2-for-16 over his last five games.

Our View: Hopefully that performance at the All-Star Game doesn't get into his head. This is probably just a small glitch on the radar and Uggla will likely pull through it soon enough.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/11, 10:28 AM CT
Dan Uggla commented on his first game back from a sprained ankle on Thursday, according to the Miami Herald. He went 0-for-3 against Los Angeles, but drew two walks and said, "I'm about 85 percent. There's still some pain. But it's to a point where I can actually run and tolerate it. Probably the biggest test is going to be able to run the bases."

Our View: He should be peniled back into your fantasy lineups, if you haven't already done so.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 7/10, 7:00 PM CT
Dan Uggla will return from his sprained ankle on Thursday night and be reinserted into the starting lineup, according to the Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: Uggla has been out of action since June 28th though he wasn't placed on the DL because of the injury. Get him back in your lineup immediately if you have the option.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/9, 10:35 AM CT
After going through pregame drills (sprinting, hitting, fielding) on Tuesday, star second baseman Dan Uggla commented that he hopes to be available as a pinch-hitter Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald. He is recovering from a sprained left ankle, but it feels strong and he can tolerate the pain now.

Our View: He also hopes to return to the Marlins' lineup at some point during their upcoming series with the Dodgers, which begins on July 10.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 7/5, 7:30 PM CT
Dan Uggla took BP and fielded some grounders on Saturday though he is still having some difficulty running, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: The report went on to state that Uggla probably won't play in either game this weekend, but that the team is extremely hopeful that he will return to action next week.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/4, 10:14 AM CT
Dan Uggla could return to the lineup soon, according to the Miami Herald. He has been taking batting practice, and it is possible he could pinch-hit this weekend, and may be back before the team's current road trip ends on July 13.

Our View: Uggla can't get back soon enough for those who have him on their fantasy roster. He has been providing everything you can ask for, with the exception of stolen bases, although he has even contributed four of those.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 7/2, 10:36 AM CT
The Miami Herald reports that Dan Uggla expects to miss "two to four more days" while recovering from a sprained ankle.

Our View: Don't count on Uggla for much more than pinch-hitting this weekend. Each report has predicted a longer absence. Robert Andino is starting in Uggla's place.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 7/1, 7:04 PM CT
Florida second baseman Dan Uggla is targeting Thursday as a potential point of return from injury, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Beginning Thursday the Marlins open a four-game series with the Rockies at Coors Field. Uggla hopes to be playing in at least one of those games as he feels his sprained left ankle is up to the challenge. Uggla was to have an MRI today to insure there are no further problems, but we have yet to receive official word on those results. Instead, the MLB is reporting that he wants to get back in action later this week.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/30, 10:56 PM CT

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 6/29, 10:14 PM CT
Second baseman Dan Uggla could be out until Thursday due to a sore left ankle, MLB.com reports. "We'll probable stay away from him for a couple of days; hopefully, he could play the road trip," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "He's just got to ice the [heck] out of it today. He's got to get that whole swelling down and get some treatment on that." The Marlins open the coming week with three home games against the Nationals and then play four games in Colorado.

Our View: Even if Uggla only gets three games in Colorado this week, he id probably worth using over your backup option. He does carry some obvious risk, though.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 6/29, 11:34 AM CT
Dan Uggla is out for Sunday's game due to his sprained left ankle, according to the AP.

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 6/28, 9:09 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Dan Uggla reportedly suffered a sprained left ankle when sliding into second base in the bottom of the fourth inning. Uggla, who tried to take the field in the top of the fifth decided he couldn't continue. According to the Rays broadcasting network the X-rays were negative and Uggla is considered day-to-day.

Our View: If the injury was of the high variety, it's unlikely that Uggla would have even attempted to return to the field.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 6/28, 7:20 PM CT
Dan Uggla exited Saturday night's game against Arizona in the top of the fifth inning with an apparent injury to his left ankle.

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 6/21, 1:06 AM CT
Dan Uggla blasted two home runs, his 22nd and 23rd of the season, on his way to four hits for the Marlins.

Our View: If not for the power exploits of Chase Utley, Uggla would be all the rage at second base with the massive numbers he is currently putting up.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 6/18, 12:08 AM CT
The Marlins managed just six total hits in tonight's 5-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners with no one posting multiple hits on their behalf. With that said, second baseman Dan Uggla attempted to keep his team in the mix, hitting 1-for-4 with his 20th homer of the season to total one RBI and one run scored on the night.

Our View: On the negative, Uggla struck out three times, giving Uggla a whopping 23 strikeouts on the month.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/16, 9:47 PM CT
Dan Uggla has 19 home runs which puts him on pace to challenge the franchise record of 42 set by Gary Sheffield in 1996, according to MLB.com. "Anytime anybody hits 40, it's a feat, no matter where you're playing," Uggla said. "To do it at Dolphin Stadium, it says a lot. You play half your games in a non-hitter-friendly ballpark."

Our View: Uggla has been one of the best power hitters in the game as we approach the mid-point of the season as in addition to the home runs he has scored a ton of runs scored (52) while knocking a whole boatload in as well (48).
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 6/11, 9:05 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit a game-winning walk off home run for the Marlins off of Tom Gordon with one out in the ninth inning on Wednesday night.

Our View: Say hello to the new Jeff Kent. Uggla continues to mash the ball at an amazing rate since struggling early in the year. He will certainly make this years all-star team given his tremendous work at the plate.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 6/8, 5:00 PM CT

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 6/6, 8:49 AM CT
Dan Uggla was back with his teammates on Thursday night in Atlanta, after missing Wednesday's action to catch the birth of his second child. The second baseman went 3-for-5 with a run and a stolen base.

Our View: Seeing that Uggla has witnessed the phenomenon of child birth, it didn't traumatize him the second time around. He didn't miss a beat and continued his hot-hitting ways.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 6/4, 12:52 PM CT
Dan Uggla left the Marlins early Wednesday to attend the birth of his second child, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: Uggla hit .347 through the month of May and appears to be on his way towards another strong month, going 4-for-8 over his last two games.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 5/25, 9:59 PM CT
Just when you thought he couldn't get any hotter, Florida second baseman Dan Uggla hits the walk-off home run to give his Marlins the 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants in the second game of their double-header. Our View: Uggla now has 12 homers and 24 RBIs through the month of May.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 5/22, 10:07 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 without a run or RBI on Thursday night for the Marlins as he lost his 10-game hitting streak.

Our View: What makes this rather ordinary night so noteworthy is the fact that Uggla hadn't gone without either a hit, run or RBI since May 3rd, a span of 17 games. Don't feel sorry for him, he is still hitting .409-10-20 in 19 games in May.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 5/20, 10:04 PM CT
The Marlins had to fight to squeak out the 3-2 win, finding the drive from the bat of emerging team leader, second baseman Dan Uggla . Uggla smacked his 14th homer of the season, taking a 6th-inning offering from Arizona RHP Micah Owings deep for what proved to be a game-winning dinger.

Our View: Uggla also added his second stolen base of the season, now touting 10 home runs for the month of May with a .429 batting average for the same span.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 5/16, 9:36 PM CT

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 5/13, 7:10 PM CT
With all the attention focused on Lance Berkman, few people have caught on to the fact that Dan Uggla is almost as hot, according to MLB.com. "He's carried us for about a week now," hitting coach Jim Presley said. "I know he got off to a slow start, but he's stayed aggressive."

Our View: It's been longer than a week Jim. Since being moved out of the second hole in the order, Uggla has responded by hitting .438-8-16 in 10 games batting sixth or seventh. Always a streaky hitter, Uggla has his numbers right back where they should be after a slow April.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 5/11, 3:15 PM CT
One day after driving in five runs, Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a pair of solo homers and three runs on Sunday against the Nationals. Uggla is up to 11 homers and 27 RBI on the year.

Our View: Uggla is on fire this May. He's swatted seven long balls in the month, and we're only up to the 11th day. Fantasy owners often knock Uggla because of his sometimes rough batting averages, but the dude has as much pop as any other second sacker outside Chase Utley.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/10, 11:00 PM CT
The Florida Marlins were not short on offense this evening, led by 2B Dan Uggla . Uggla went 2-for-4 including a grand-slam home run in the 9th, bringing him to five total RBIs on the evening.

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 5/5, 6:32 PM CT
Dan Uggla, who is traditionally a slow starter, is hitting .267 with seven home runs, 19 RBI and 18 runs scored so far this season. The right-hander is 5-14 with three home runs and seven RBI in the first four games of May.

Our View: Expect the second baseman to produce in May and June, historically his best months.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 5/4, 3:37 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Sunday's 10-3 win over San Diego, and one of his hits went for his seventh home run of the season. He also scored three runs today.

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/23, 9:34 PM CT
Dan Uggla went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI to up his average to .259.

Our View: Uggla was brutal at the start of the year, but over his last five games he is 11-for-21 to raise his average up from .167. He likely won't hit for average, but the production in the counting categories should be substantial.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsMonday 4/21, 9:19 PM CT
Dan Uggla finally had a big game as he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored thanks to two doubles and his third home run of the season.

Our View: Uggla is a strikeout machine, but he is simply too good a player to keep struggling this badly. Look for the average and power to slowly increase as he finds a groove.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 4/19, 9:40 PM CT
Dan Uggla is starting to work his way out of a terrible start to the season as he totaled two hits, a walk and an RBI in four AB.

Our View: Uggla still is hitting below the Mendoza line at .188, but after back-to-back seasons of at least 27 HR, 88 RBI and 105 runs, you know that the production will eventually show come with Uggla.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/16, 2:52 PM CT
Dan Uggla has fared well against Tim Hudson, tonight's opposing hurler for Atlanta, according to MLB.com. Uggla is hitting 9-for-25 over his career against the Braves' righty, with two doubles.

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/9, 10:20 PM CT
Dan Uggla hit a two-run double in Wednesday's 10-4 beat down of the Washington Nationals. Ugla has struggled in the first week and a half of the season, and was hitting a light .143 entering Wednesday's game. As is typically with the Marlins second baseman, he has shown his power stroke this year, but in 28 at-bats had struck out nine times. In four at-bats Wednesday night, Uggla added two more strikeouts to his season total (11). The Florida second baseman is on pace to threaten 200 K's for the year. This of course is Ug-acceptable, or Ug-ly, whichever word you prefer.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 3/21, 7:31 PM CT
Dan Uggla had a double, a home run and four RBI on Friday for the Marlins. Uggla is now hitting .320 with an OPS of over 1.000 in camp, and seems primed to repeat his power performance of last season that included 31 HR and 88 RBI.

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 8/10, 10:36 AM CT

"It puts some speed at the top and it makes us more dangerous in the middle," manager Fredi Gonzalez explains to the Palm Beach Post. "It balances out the lineup a little better. We'll try it and if it doesn't work well, put it back. I think it'll work."
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsThursday 7/19, 7:05 AM CT
Dan Uggla was held out of the starting lineup for the first time this season Wednesday, the AP reports. "(Fredi Gonzalez) thinks I need a day," Uggla said. "That's fine with me. I'm not trying to break any records." Uggla is hitting just .143 (7-for-49) in July.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsFriday 9/15, 10:18 PM CT
