Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsWednesday 9/30, 3:46 PM CT
Ryan Theriot went 3-for-4 in the Cubs' 4-0 loss to the Pirates on Wednesday. Chicago only managed four hits in the game, and Theriot was responsible for three of them.

Our View: The Cubs didn't put together a very menacing lineup today with Aramis Ramirez and Derrick Lee joining Alfonso Soriano on the sidelines, so it's not a big shocker that they struggled to hit. Theriot is hitting .289 on the season, and he has been a nice player for the team in 2009.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsFriday 9/25, 11:54 PM CT
Ryan Theriot helped lead the Cubs in tonight's 3-0 win at San Francisco, as he went 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI.

Our View: Theriot snapped an eight-game skid without an RBI, and has 53 for the season. He recorded his fifth multi-hit game of September as well.

Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsMonday 8/17, 10:08 AM CT
Infielder Ryan Theriot isn't likely to play for the Cubs against the Padres in San Diego tonight as he battles the flu, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View: Theriot didn't play Sunday with the illness, and it's unclear when exactly he will be back, though Tuesday remains a possibility. He is hitting .301 in 448 at-bats for the Cubs this season.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsWednesday 8/12, 10:32 PM CT
Leadoff hitter Ryan Theriot was one of the lone bright spots for the Cubbies on Wednesday night, going 3-for-5 with an RBI in the Cubs 12-5 loss to the Phillies.

Our View: Theriot is now batting .300 on the season, and is a passable option at short in every format.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsFriday 8/7, 11:20 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Cubs' infielder Ryan Theriot is expected to return to the lineup Friday after sitting out Wednesday's game with a bruised right arm. Theriot injured the arm when he was hit by a pitch on Tuesday.

Our View: Theriot looks good to go tonight, especially after getting a second day off yesterday during the off day. Theriot has been a decent hitter for the Cubs this season, so they will welcome him back to the lineup tonight.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsMonday 7/20, 9:16 PM CT
Ryan Theriot went 1-for-1 with a single, and recorded the Cubs' lone RBI in tonight's 10-1 loss at Philadelphia.

Our View: The Cubs only had six hits in the game, and stranded 16 runners on base. Theriot has a hit in three straight games, and is batting .359 so far in July.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsMonday 6/22, 9:32 PM CT
Ryan Theriot went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles in Monday's 2-0 loss at Atlanta.

Our View: The Cubs were unable to score any runs over 10 hits in the game, and stranded 19 men on base. Theriot extended his hitting streak to eight games, with 11 total hits over the span. Keep him active in fantasy lineups while he is hot.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsSunday 6/14, 9:32 PM CT
Ryan Theriot had the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cubs a 3-2 win over the Twins. Theriot was 2-for-3 with two RBI on the game.

Our View: Theriot's hit was huge for the Cubs, and he really came through under pressure today. Theriot is having a nice season so far, and his versatility makes him valuable in most fantasy formats.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsFriday 5/29, 12:07 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Ryan Theriot is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers due to the flu. He is being replaced by Andres Blanco at shortstop.

Our View: The Cubs have had the flu going around the locker room for the past week or so, and Theriot looks to be the latest victim. He should be fine in a few days, but he is not available today.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsWednesday 5/27, 4:38 PM CT
Ryan Theriot was 3-for-3 in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Pirates.

Our View: Theriot is only hitting .287 this season, but has shown a surprising amount of pop with five homers, 11 doubles and 21 RBI. Still, that brief surge was likely a fluke. Today's day with three singles in more what you can expect from the diminutive shortstop.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsFriday 5/15, 1:04 PM CT
Ryan Theriot commented on the rumor that he used steroids, according to the Chicago Tribune. He said, "I kind of laugh a little bit. I guess everybody is entitled to their own opinion. It is unfortunate that it has come to this. But I guess you can write whatever you want to write, and it is up to the readers to forumlate their own opinion."

Our View: Theriot stopped drinking protein shakes in 2005, and stopped doing supplements too, out of concern of having some wrong ingredient pop up in a test. The rumor likely started as he already hit five homers this season, after hitting a total of seven homers over his previous three campaigns with Chicago.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsWednesday 5/13, 11:37 PM CT
Little Ryan Theriot crushed another two homers on Wednesday night. He was 2-for-3 with two RBI in the Cubs 6-4 win that was cut short after eight innings due to weather.

Our View: No one, and I mean no one, saw this coming. The sprightly Theriot, who hit all of one home run last season, now has five and has driven in 17 runs on the year. Look out Albert Pujols, the little man may be nipping at your heels in a week at this pace.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsMonday 5/4, 10:32 PM CT
Ryan Theriot homered again on Monday, leading the Cubs to a 4-2 win. He has hit three home runs in the last four days.

Our View: Theriot's transition to power hitter is nearly complete. Not really, but his power surge in the last few games has been a nice added bonus to owners. Don't expect the power to continue, but he is still a decent fantasy player.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsSaturday 5/2, 3:00 PM CT
Ryan Theriot went 2-for-5 with a triple, homer, one run, and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Marlins. It is his second straight game with a home run.

Our View: Theriot jacked only one long ball over 580 at-bats in 2008, and even he is likely laughing about going deep two days in a row. Don't expect this to become a trend.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsFriday 5/1, 5:23 PM CT
Ryan Theriot only had one hit on Friday, but it was a huge one. Theriot hit a sixth inning grand slam off of Marlins' reliever Burke Badenhop to help the Cubs to an 8-6 victory over Florida.

Our View: This was Theriot's first homer of the season, and boy was it a big one. He is hitting .310 on the season, and he has five stolen bases. This grand slam was a nice added bonus for fantasy owners, but don't expect this on a regular basis.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsSunday 4/12, 10:45 PM CT
Ryan Theriot was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, an RBI, and two runs scored as the Cubs beat the Brewers 8-5 on Sunday.

Our View: The shortstop is hitting .550 through six games this season and he already has three doubles and two stolen bases. He appears to be in line for another good season with the Cubs and should be owned, at least as a reserve, in most leagues.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsThursday 9/11, 10:58 PM CT
Ryan Theriot had two hits and knocked in his 37th run of the season on Thursday night for the Cubs in their 3-2 victory over the Cardinals.

Our View: Theriot is hitting a strong .309 with 78 runs scored which has helped to offset a somewhat lower stolen base total this season of 21 (he had 28 last year). He offers no pop with only 19 doubles and one home run, but he offers enough in the average and stolen base categories to have value in mixed leagues.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsTuesday 9/9, 7:49 PM CT
Contrary to early reports Ryan Theriot is in the Cubs lineup.

Our View: Lou Pinella said that Theriot was not going to be in the lineup but he felt good during batting practice and tripled in his second at-bat.

During Sunday's game against Cincinnati, Ryan Theriot was taken out of the game early due to dizziness and dehydration. The Cubs said he was day-to-day and he is not in the lineup against the Cardinals, according to MLB.com.

Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsMonday 9/8, 10:18 AM CT

Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsWednesday 8/6, 3:52 PM CT
Ryan Theriot has left Wednesday's game after six innings as he sustained an apparent foot injury.

Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsFriday 7/18, 9:43 PM CT
Ryan Theriot extended his hitting streak to 11 games on Friday, going 1-for-3 with his thirteenth double of the season in Chicago's 2-1 loss to the Astros.

Our View: Theriot is now hitting .320 on the season with 15 stolen bases. He can certainly provide value to your fantasy team if you can spare the home runs and RBI.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsMonday 7/14, 9:11 AM CT
Ryan Theriot is riding a career-high 10-game hitting streak, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He has also reached base in 41 of his last 44 contests, and Manager Lou Piniella said, "He's a scrappy kid with a lot of heart, power, speed. He wants to do well, and he's got some nice tools."

Our View: Theriot holds a .320 average, and is tied for the NL lead with 37 multi-hit games. He chipped in 15 stolen bases as well, and has proven to be among the biggest draft day steals over the first half of the season.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsThursday 7/10, 5:02 PM CT
Ryan Theriot had two hits and two RBI for the Cubs on Thursday from the leadoff spot.

Our View: Theriot continues to be a solid find for those who wagered on him this year providing speed (15 SB) and a surprising .314 batting average.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsThursday 6/26, 5:18 PM CT
Ryan Theriot went 2-for-5 in today's game against the Orioles, and now has two hits in each of his last four games, and five of his last six.

Our View: Theriot has been a consistent hitter all year for Chicago. He won't add much pop to your fantasy team, but he will bring you batting average and runs scored.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsFriday 6/20, 2:42 PM CT
Ryan Theriot commented on the possibility of a Cubs/White Sox World Series, according to MLB.com. Theriot said, "That would be awesome. That would be great for the city of Chicago, great for both organizations. It'd be a lot of fun. Perfect travel. It'd be awesome. It'd definitely be something the city of Chicago deserves."

Our View: The Sox and Cubs will clash tonight at Wrigley Field, and both are in first place in their division, which could be a preview for October.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsTuesday 6/17, 9:51 PM CT
The Cubs found tought times against the surging Tampa Bay Rays this evening, falling 3-2 in interleague action. Chicago managed just six hits, but only one player managed to post a RBI, that being shortstop Ryan Theriot , going 1-for-3 with a walk and one RBI on the night.

Our View: Theriot came into June hot but has cooled a bit over recent days, going just 2-for-16 with two walks and one RBI over his last four games.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsSaturday 6/14, 12:08 PM CT
Ryan Theriot is not listed in the lineup for Saturday's afternoon tilt against the Blue Jays. He is presumably just getting a day off. Ronny Cedeno is starting at shortstop.

Our View: Fantasy owners shouldn't panic when they don't see Theriot's name in the box score. It may end up being a good thing, as he'll miss facing Roy Halladay.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsWednesday 6/11, 10:09 PM CT
Ryan Theriot had two hits and knocked in two runs as he is now hitting .322 on the year.

Our View: With Alfonso Soriano being placed on the DL, chances are pretty good that Theriot will slide into the leadoff role which likely won't change his value much. With 12 steals, he needs to cut down on the times he has been caught (eight) to make the jump to the next level.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsWednesday 6/4, 11:34 PM CT
The Cubs suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to the San Diego Padres this evening, posting a total of just four hits as a team. The leader of the cause was shortstop Ryan Theriot , going 2-for-4 with two singles and his 11th stolen base of the season.

Our View: Theriot has been playing well at the plate, posting at least one hit in 14 of his last 17 games. Thus far in June, he is 7-for-16 with two RBIs.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsTuesday 5/6, 8:58 PM CT

Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsTuesday 4/22, 2:07 PM CT
Ryan Theriot commented on his back ailment, according to MLB.com. Theriot stated, "My back is something I've been dealing with for a long time, and I actually felt worse on Sunday, when I had a few hits. Sitting Monday was more precautionary, and I feel much better today and we'll see what happens. You never want to go in, especially when you're feeling good at the plate and the team is winning. Eventually, it will never be 100 percent because that's just the way I was born. It's been something I've dealt with forever and played with. It's just a fact of life. It's not a big deal, really. If I felt it was affecting my performance on the field, I wouldn't have been out there. It's something I've been dealing with forever. I can go out and get hits and steal bases with it. I don't see why it would hinder me from playing."

Our View: He sat out another game on Tuesday, and was once again replaced by Ronny Cedeno. You may want to handcuff Cedeno, or add some insurance at the position in case Theriot's ailment lingers.
Ryan Theriot, SS, Chicago CubsTuesday 4/22, 9:56 AM CT
Ryan Theriot was held out of the Cubs' lineup on Monday, but was reportedly available to play if needed, according to The Chicago Sun-Times. Manager Lou Piniella commented, "He's fine. His back locked up on him a little bit. He was available if we needed him, but that was it."
