Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesMonday 1/18, 8:27 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs has signed a two-year deal with the Rockies worth $3.25MM to avoid arbitration, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Spilborghs has garnered trade interest, namely from the Cubs, but team GM Dan O'Dowd decided to keep him around as he feels the outfielder will have a good year after tweaking his offensive approach.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesMonday 12/28, 3:43 PM CT
According to ESPN, the Cubs and Rockies have discussed a trade for Ryan Spilborghs.

Our View: Spilborghs hit .241 in 352 at-bats a season ago. Considering that was in the thin air of Colorado, a move to Chicago might not do wonders for his bat or the Cubs' beleaguered outfield.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesMonday 11/30, 8:31 AM CT
The Rockies plan on keeping outfielder Ryan Spilborghs unless "they receive a substantial offer," according to Fox Sports.

Our View: Spilborghs is eligible for arbitration for this time this winter, and is represented by superagent Scott Boras. Despite many interested parties, like Atlanta and the White Sox, he'll likely remain in Colorado in 2010.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSaturday 11/14, 8:10 PM CT
The Phillies are reportedly interested in trade talks with the Rockies regarding outfielder Ryan Spilborghs, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.

Our View: That is of course if the Rockies are willing to deal Spilborghs and go with another in-house option like Matt Murton. The Phillies would like to add him to improve their outfield depth and another option as a pinch-hitter and runner.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSunday 10/11, 7:28 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs will make the start in place of Brad Hawpe for Sunday night's game against the Phillies, according to the AP. Manager Jim Tracy feels that Spilborghs, who hit .241 this season, is a better option against lefties than Hawpe.

Our View: Spilborghs has a knack for coming through in the clutch. He is 1-for-4 with a double and a walk in this series, but the move is still somewhat of a surprise given that Hawpe was an All-Star this season.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesTuesday 8/25, 9:00 AM CT
Ryan Spilborghs hit the home run that may ultimately clinch the National League wild card, socking a back-breaking grand slam in the 14th inning against the Giants on Monday night, leading the Rockies to 6-4 win and four-game lead over their division rivals for the NL's final playoff spot.

Our View: Despite his heroics, Spilborghs only has eight RBI in August, and is a fringe-option in smaller NL-only leagues.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesTuesday 7/21, 9:27 AM CT
According to FoxSports.com, the Phillies are interested in Rockies' outfielder Ryan Spilborghs. Philly reportedly offered two decent pitching prospects to the Rockies in exchange for Spilborghs, but the Rockies turned the deal down because they value him as a player and as a clubhouse presence.

Our View: The Phillies are already loaded in the outfield, as all three of their starters played in this year's All-Star game, but they would like to have a guy like Spilborghs on the bench to spell the aging Raul Ibanez. Don't expect the Phils to offer much more than they already have, and if the Rockies decide to move Spilborghs the Phillies may be their only partner.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesMonday 7/20, 7:10 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs' wife went into labor this morning, and he is unavailable for Monday's game against Arizona at Coors Field, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: It is uncertain how many games Spilborghs may miss while attending to his wife, and he should be held out of fantasy lineups until further notice.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesTuesday 6/30, 1:39 AM CT
Ryan Spilborghs went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Monday's 4-2 loss at the Dodgers. He hit a double and a two-run homer off Randy Wolf.

Our View: Spilborghs ended a 16-game drought without a homer, and has six for the season. He only had one hit over his last nine at-bats heading into tonight's game as well.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/10, 12:23 PM CT
The Phillies and Tigers have joined the Boston Red Sox as teams who are reportedly interested in Rockies left fielder Ryan Spilborghs.

Our View: Spilborghs has quietly had a solid 2009 season, batting .259 while driving in 26 runs and swiping six bases. His best value might be as a super-sub on a contender rather than a starter on a middling team like the Rockies. He has no real fantasy value in either scenario, though.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSaturday 6/6, 2:54 PM CT
According to the Denver Post, Ryan Spilborghs could be on the trading block with the recent promotion of Triple-A outfielder Carlos Gonzalez.

Our View: Spilborghs now stands as Colorado's fifth outfielder. He's not a great player, but still should be getting everyday at-bats somewhere. The Red Sox, Rays, Barves and Cubs have been rumored to be interested.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 5/27, 6:06 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Dodgers.

Our View: Spilborghs is having a decent season, but his numbers (.273-4-22) aren't strong enough for an outfielder in mixed leagues. He's an NL-only option though.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 5/20, 11:15 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the Rockies' 12-4 loss to the Braves. Spilborghs is hitting .277 on the year.

Our View: Spilborghs is still an NL-only option, but that's about all he is. He is a decent hitter, but he doesn't have much power. He will steal some bases and score some runs, but he is still just an average fantasy player.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSaturday 5/2, 5:43 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Saturday's 5-1 win at the Giants. He crushed two homers and one single.

Our View: Spilborghs only had one homer over his first 21 games heading into today, and ended up hitting two in a pitcher's park (AT&T Park).
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSunday 4/26, 7:26 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the Rockies' 10-4 win over the Dodgers on Sunday. The homer was his first on the year.

Our View: Spilborghs was moved down to the third spot in the order and it payed off Sunday. He's been red hot lately and after his 2-for-4 performance is hitting .295 this season.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 4/22, 5:56 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs went 4-for-5 in the leadoff spot for the Rockies on Wednesday, but his team still lost 2-0 to the Diamondbacks. He had one stolen base to go with his four singles.

Our View: Spilborghs has not hit nearly as well as he showed this spring, and he had been benched in two straight games as a result. Hopefully, today's performance will be enough to keep in the lineup going forward, but we expect he'll still see at least one off day per week.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 4/8, 6:18 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs Ryan Spilborghs moved over to right field as rookie Dexter Fowler made his first start of the season in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Diamondbacks. He also hit third instead of leadoff and finished the game 2-for-5 with his third double of the season, a run scored and two RBI.

Our View: Spilborghs may be too good to remove from the lineup. He hits for good average and also provides plus defense. Hopefully for his fantasy owners he will not lose playing time to Fowler.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesTuesday 3/24, 8:20 PM CT
Outfielder Ryan Spilborghs went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and a steal in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs.

Our View: Spilborghs continues to have an outstanding spring. He has the talent to blossom and help fantasy teams in 2009. The downside is that stud prospects Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez are only a half-step away.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSunday 3/15, 9:23 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs was 1-for-4 with his first home run of the spring in Sunday's 9-5 win over the Dodgers.

Our View: Spilborghs is having a fine spring as he is hitting .310 with nine RBI in 29 at-bats. He is the favorite to win the starting center field job, and he should provide solid, if not spectacular production while keeping the spot warm for Dexter Fowler.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSaturday 2/28, 1:30 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs has left camp with the Rockies to mourn the death of his mother, according to the Denver Post. His mother's death was caused by a lung ailment.

Our View: There is no timetable for his return to the Rockies, and we wish him and his family thes best during their time of grief.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesThursday 2/19, 2:57 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs could bat leadoff for Colorado this season following the departure of Willy Taveras, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He only swiped seven bags over 233 at-bats last season, but held a solid .407 OBP. He is worth drafting as a No. 5 outfielder for fantasy leagues.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesMonday 12/1, 2:05 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs will likely be the Rockies' center fielder in 2009 if they trade Willy Taveras and Cory Sullivan, according to the Denver Post. The club hopes to deal both outfielders.

Our View: Spilborghs registered multiple hits in three of his last four games with the Rockies in 2008, and batted .313 over 89 outings. He could rank as a solid sleeper for 2009 as a full-time starter in center.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesTuesday 11/11, 5:15 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs will play in Mexico next month to prepare to be the Rockies' starter in center field next season, according to the Denver Post. This is another indication that the team is trying to deal Willy Taveras.

Our View: Spilborghs is a fine hitter and would be a definite sleeper play with a full-time gig in Denver.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesMonday 9/1, 1:08 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs has been activated from the DL, and the Rockies recalled pitcher Steve Register and catcher Edwin Bellorin from Triple-A, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Spilborghs will continue to backup regular outfielders Matt Holliday and Brad Hawpe, limiting his fantasy value.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 8/27, 7:59 AM CT
Ryan Spilborghs is coming along fine from his oblique strain and will be put on the team's roster by September 1, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Spilborghs has had a solid season, but he is used in a backup role, limiting any fantasy value.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSaturday 8/23, 10:48 AM CT
Ryan Spilborghs, who is recovering from a left oblique strain, will spend a week on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs (started Thursday), according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: He is hopeful to return to Colorado in September. He could see extended action in the outfield as an audition for next season, and could be worth stashing in NL-only leagues. He hit .314 over 185 at-bats this season, with six homers, 33 RBI, and seven stolen bases.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 8/20, 9:26 AM CT

Our View: He has been able to swing a bat without pain and hopes to rejoin the Rockies in September. He could see extended action in the outfield as an audition for next season, and could be worth stashing in NL-only leagues. He hit .314 over 185 at-bats this season, with six homers, 33 RBI, and seven stolen bases.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesFriday 8/15, 8:37 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs is gradually increasing his baseball-related activity and may be ready to begin a rehab assignment soon, according to MLB.com. He's been out since July 9 with a left oblique strain.

Our View: The Rox could obviously use Spilborghs' stick. They have taken their time with bringing him back, as they know it's easy to re-injure yourself when dealing with an oblique ailment.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 8/13, 10:48 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs took some swings in a batting cage as he continues to rehab his left oblique strain, but maintained that there was no timetable for his return, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Spilborghs was having a very solid season with a .314 batting average, six home runs and seven RBI. He wasn't a mixed league option, but those in NL-only leagues may have given him a look.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSaturday 8/2, 6:02 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs, who is recovering from a left oblique strain, played catch this week, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: He is making steady progress, and is just feeling normal soreness. He could return to Colorado in mid-August.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 7/9, 7:11 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, the Rockies have in fact placed outfielder Ryan Spilborghs on the 15-day disabled list after leaving last night's game with an oblique strain, according to MLB.com.

Our View: To take his place on the roster, outfielder Seth Smith was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Smith will be in uniform for tonight's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 7/9, 12:04 AM CT
Ryan Spilborghs left the game with a strained left oblique on Tuesday night. "I normally don't talk about injuries," manager Clint Hurdle said. "But he's flying home tomorrow; he'll be on the disabled list with an oblique strain."

Our View: He apparently injured himself while running to third. Its unknown who will be picking up the starts in the Rockies outfield.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSaturday 7/5, 10:31 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs, continuing to take advantage of an injury that is keeping Willy Taveras out of the lineup, went 2-for-4 with three runs scored on Saturday night.

Our View: Spilborghs has seven runs and six hits in his last two games and is hitting a robust .309 in 178 AB on the year as he continues to provide ample value in NL only leagues.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/11, 10:25 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs was out of the lineup on Wednesday to rest his back, but once healthy he could find himself with more playing time in center field at the expense of Willy Taveras, according to MLB.com. "Nobody stays hot the entire time, so when guys can piggy-back off one another -- until a guy just takes off and runs away with the position -- that's always a good thing to have," manager Clint Hurdle said.

Our View: Spilborghs is hitting a solid .312, .327 in his last 49 AB, and has hit 15 home runs with 74 RBI in his last 389 AB showing solid pop, though he brings little of the speed that is Taveras' game.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/11, 9:03 AM CT
The Denver Post reports Ryan Spilborghs, who should be available today with his back spasms gone, will get at-bats as Colorado looks to beef up its underachieving lineup. The question is whether he can cover the ground required at Coors Field.

Our View: It's really not a question at all. Spilborghs cannot cover ground in center field like Taveras, but the Rockies have been feeling the pinch on offense lately. Look for Spilborghs to get the majority of starts.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesMonday 6/2, 7:50 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs is back in the lineup on Monday, the Rocky Mountain News reports. He took a pitch off the left wrist on Saturday and sat out on Sunday.

Our View: Spilborghs should play a prominent role for a few more days, but Brad Hawpe and Matt Holliday could both return from the DL before the end of the weekend.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesMonday 6/2, 8:25 AM CT
Ryan Spilborghs could return to the Rockies' starting lineup on Monday, according to the Denver Post. He is nursing a bruised left wrist but stated, "It's nothing a little Advil can't fix."

Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSunday 6/1, 1:57 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs is out of the lineup on Sunday, one day after injuring his left wrist. X-rays were negative. "It's just a bruise. Thankfully, nothing is broken," Spilborghs informs the Denver Post. "It's sore, but I hope I can get in there today."

Our View: Fantasy owners can expect Spilborghs to start regularly in the week ahead, as the Rockies are low on healthy outfielders.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSunday 6/1, 8:34 AM CT
Ryan Spilborghs will undergo an MRI on his injured left wrist on Sunday. "I think it's just a deep bruise. That's what I hope, anyway," he tells the Denver Post. Spilborghs took a pitch off the wrist on Saturday.

Our View: The Rockies are running short on outfielders. Scott Podsednik and Cory Sullivan stand to see more time if Spilborghs is out for a while.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSaturday 5/31, 6:21 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs left Saturday's game with a bruised wrist in Saturday action against the Cubs, according to CBSsports.com.

Our View: He is day-to-day. He has seen more action since Matt Holliday and Brad Hawpe landed on the DL, and the team cannot afford to lose another outfielder.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesThursday 5/29, 11:07 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs continued to hit the ball hard on Thursday as he went 3-for-5 with a run scored for the Rockies. He also stole his fourth base of the season.

Our View: Spilborghs hot hitting has left Scott Podsednik on the bench most days since the Rockies placed Matt Holliday and Brad Hawpe on the DL. Ryan now has eight hits in his last four games during which time he has also knocked in five RBI. Once Hawpe and Holliday are healthy, the Rockies will have a tough decision to make with too many outfielders and not enough playing time.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 5/28, 9:15 PM CT
The Colorado Rockies have fallen to 20-33 tonight, suffering their third consecutive loss with a 6-1 beating from the Philadelphia Phillies. For Colorado, only outfielder Ryan Spilborghs managed to post multiple hits, going 2-for-4 to serve as the top offensive note for the Rockies.

Our View: Spilborghs has played well on this visit to Philly, going 5-for-12 with five RBIs and three runs scored.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesMonday 5/26, 10:13 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs hit a three-run home run to give the Rockies an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, a lead the team would quickly surrender in a 20-5 loss to the Phillies on Monday night.

Our View: The home run is Spilborghs second of the season in 90 at bats. The Rockies are fighting through injuries to significant player personnel and Spilborghs was hitting clean up for the once powerful Rockies batting order.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesFriday 5/16, 7:29 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs gets the start in left field tonight, as Matt Holliday has been scratched due to a back issue, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: Spilborghs is hitting .309 over 68 at-bats, with one homer and 15 RBI. He also has three stolen bases. He won't replace the elite Holliday's bat, but he will provide the team with a solid substitute nonetheless.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesWednesday 5/14, 8:09 PM CT
The Rockies are struggling to find wins and, as a result, manager Clint Hurdle has made a few changes to the lineup, according to the Denver Post. Most notably, CF Ryan Spilborghs will bat leadoff, taking the place normally filled by Willie Taveras.

Our View: Also, Omar Quintanilla has gotten the start at shortstop with Jonathan Herrera starting at second base. Quintanilla will bat second with Herrera batting eighth.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSaturday 4/12, 5:10 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs has been playing well early in the year and as a result he has found himself in the lineup taking a few AB from Wily Taveras in the early going, this according to MLB.com.

Our View: Taveras will still end up with his 500+ AB if he can stay healthy, so don't worry about him losing a start here or there to Spilborghs who only has value in NL Only leagues unless one of the Rockies other outfielders is injured.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesSunday 10/28, 6:37 PM CT
The Rockies are starting Ryan Spilborghs in center field in Sunday's Game 4 of the World Series. It will be the third different starting center fielder the Rox have used.

Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesFriday 8/11, 11:26 PM CT
Ryan Spilborghs was supposedly called up to be the new regular center fielder for the Rockies, but on Friday he played right field. Most likely the Rockies wanted to keep Choo Freeman in the lineup against lefty Rich Hill. Spilborghs was 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesFriday 8/11, 6:37 PM CT
The Rockies recalled Ryan Spilborghs from Triple-A Colorado Springs, where he was hitting .338 with five homers and eight steals in 269 at-bats. Spilborghs, who hit .280 in 75 at-bats with the Rockies earlier this season, is expected to take over as the regular center fielder.
Ryan Spilborghs, LF, Colorado RockiesFriday 8/11, 9:09 AM CT
The Rockies will promote Ryan Spilborghs from Triple-A Colorado Springs, possibly as early as today, according to the Denver Post. Upon arriving, Spilborghs is expected to be the team's regular center fielder, taking over for the ineffective Cory Sullivan and Choo Freeman. Spilborghs has hit .280 in a couple short stints with the Rockies this year and is hitting .338 for Colorado Springs.
