Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsMonday 7/6, 7:21 PM CT
Travis Buck has been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento by the A's, according to the Contra Costa Times. The club recalled hurler Dana Eveland, and moved Buck to make room on the roster.

Our View: Buck was viewed as expendable as he is only hitting .226 with three homers over 93 at-bats. He shouldn't be missed in fantasy leagues while working on his hitting in the minors.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsMonday 6/29, 6:56 PM CT
Travis Buck is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento by the A's, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He is also expected to be in uniform at some point for tonight's game against the Rays. He holds a poor .235 batting average this season, but hit three homers over 28 games. He could be a decent source for power in deeper leagues if you can deal with his low batting average.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsMonday 6/15, 10:59 AM CT
Travis Buck was activated from the DL on Sunday but was optioned to Triple-A, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Jack Cust will continue to start in right field and Chris Denotfia remains on the roster to provide a right-handed bat off the bench.

Our View: Buck has been out since May 29 with a strained oblique. He is hitting only .235 on the season, but hit home runs in each of his last two games. There's a good chance that Buck is back up with Oakland later this season.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsMonday 6/8, 9:42 AM CT
The San Jose Mercury News is reporting that A's outfielder Travis Buck is set to begin a rehab assignment in Triple-A Sacramento on Monday. Buck has been on the DL since May 30 with a strained left oblique.

Our View: Assuming all things go well during his time in Triple-A, expect Buck to return to the A's lineup very soon. Buck has been a bit disappointing this season, and his fantasy value is slim at best. No one should be rushing out to pick him up upon his return.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSaturday 5/30, 6:32 PM CT
Travis Buck has been placed on the 15-day DL with a strained left oblique muscle, according to the Associated Press. The club recalled outfielder Aaron Cunningham from Triple-A Sacramento to provide depth while Buck is out.

Our View: Buck is only hitting .235 with three homers and nine RBI this season, and should not hurt fantasy teams while on the shelf.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsMonday 5/18, 7:39 AM CT
Travis Buck has been playing with a sore left shoulder, but does not believe the ailment is a major problem, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Buck only has two hits over his last 11 at-bats, and is hitting .206 for the season. He does not hold much fantasy value right now.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsWednesday 4/1, 6:46 PM CT
Travis Buck was 2-for-2 and hit his fourth home run of the spring on Wednesday.

Our View: Buck is having a nice spring with a .300 average and four home runs, but barring an injury to one of the A's regulars he'll likely come off the bench this season.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsTuesday 3/31, 7:41 PM CT
Travis Buck was 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBI on Tuesday. He's driven in 13 this spring.

Our View: Buck will likely be a reserve this season, but could see some starts at DH and in right field. If anyone is traded (a-hem-Matt Holliday-a-hem) or goes down with an injury he'd likely become more valuable.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsMonday 3/16, 7:29 PM CT
Travis Buck went 3-for-3 with three RBI, three runs scored, and a home run as the Athletics beat the Dodgers 10-8 on Monday. It was his third home run of the spring.

Our View: Buck's development took a turn for the worse in 2008 thanks to injuries, a concussion, and an alteration to his mechanics. The 25-year-old will likely be a reserve outfielder this season, but if Matt Holliday is traded at the deadline, as some have assumed he will be, Buck would likely take over the starting spot.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSaturday 3/7, 10:04 PM CT
Travis Buck was 2-for-3 with two runs and a solo home run batting from Oakland's leadoff spot against San Diego on Saturday.

Our View: It was Buck's second home run in 20 at-bats this spring. The A's have a couple different ways they could work their lineup, but Buck is very much in the mix to start in right field to open the season.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsWednesday 2/25, 6:24 PM CT
Travis Buck was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Oakland's 3-3 tie with the Brewers on Wednesday.

Our View: Buck never got it together in 2008 after a nice 2007. Shin splints and a concussion at Triple-A was the story of his season. He is battling for a starting job this spring, and he has been swinging the bat well. He is not a traditional leadoff hitter, but he may be the best option on the A's.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsWednesday 2/25, 7:56 AM CT
Travis Buck has altered his swing with new hitting coach Jim Skaalen, and Buck notched two singles in Tuesday's intrasquad game, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Buck is slated to bat leadoff in today's exhibition game against the Brewers. The former top prospect is worth a look as a flier for AL-only leagues.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsMonday 9/29, 7:08 AM CT
Travis Buck finished the season strong as he registered 11 hits in his final 23 at-bats, according to the SF Chronicle. He also blasted seven home runs over his last 21 games.

Our View: He has spent most of the season in Triple-A, but is now back in the Athletics' outfield plans for 2009.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSaturday 9/27, 12:41 AM CT
Travis Buck went 2-for-5 with four RBI in Friday's 10-8 loss to Seattle. He hit a double and a three-run homer.

Our View: Buck only has six homers for the season, but three of them have come over his last seven games. He has also recorded two hits in three straight games.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsTuesday 9/16, 7:43 PM CT
The A's recalled Travis Buck from Triple-A Sacramento Tuesday.

Our View: Buck has hit just .160 in 106 at-bats with the A's this year. He's been much better at Triple-A, hitting .296 in 169 at-bats. He should see some starts over the final weeks, but he can be ignored for fantasy purposes.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsTuesday 8/26, 7:04 AM CT
Travis Buck played in an Arizona rookie-league game and went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI Monday, according to the SF Chronicle. He has been out for a month due to a concussion and inner ear problems.

Our View: He is expected to return to Triple-A Sacramento near the end of the week. He isn't worth waiting for as a fantasy outfielder, as he only batted .160 over 26 games this season.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsWednesday 7/2, 8:41 AM CT
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that outfielder Travis Buck (concussion) came off Triple-A Sacramento's disabled list on Monday and went 2-for-4 with a double.

Our View: Buck will continue to work on his hand movement and plate discipline while on the farm. Look for him to return to the big club in the next week.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsMonday 6/16, 9:27 PM CT
Travis Buck will try to recapture the form he had last season at Triple-A as the A's will go with Ryan Sweeney and Carlos Gonzalez at the big league level, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Besides having to battle injury and the effects that brought to his timing, Buck will need to work on quieting his hand movement while waiting for the pitch as he has too much movement at the plate. Look for him to return as soon as an injury strikes an A's outfielder.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsFriday 6/13, 5:42 PM CT
The A's optioned outfielder Travis Buck to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

Our View: Carlos Gonzalez will stick and play right field moving forward. There is no reason to keep the rookie with the parent club unless he's going to play everyday.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSaturday 6/7, 11:17 PM CT
Travis Buck his just his third home run of the season, an opposite field job, for the A's on Saturday night.

Our View: Its nice to see Buck generate some power after all his struggles this year. Still, he was replaced in the ninth inning for a pinch runner, a sign that his legs likely aren't at 100%.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsWednesday 6/4, 8:44 PM CT
Travis Buck hit his second home run of the season Wednesday and the A's scored a 10-2 win over the Tigers. Buck went 2-for-5 in the game with two runs scored and the one RBI.

Our View: Since Buck has returned from Triple-A he's been productive. He's a solid option in AL-only formats moving forward.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsFriday 5/30, 5:51 PM CT
Outfielder Travis Buck has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento, according to the AP. Mike Sweeney, Ryan Sweeney, and Joey Devine have been placed on the DL Friday as well.

Our View: Buck was only hitting .154 over 15 games prior to landing on the DL with shin splints. The team is hopeful the time off will help him get on track and hit closer to his potential. He should remain on your bench until he proves worthy of your lineups again.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSaturday 5/10, 8:18 PM CT
The Oakland A's have activated OF Travis Buck and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento, according to SLAM Sports.

Our View: Buck was batting .154 through 15 games before falling to the DL with shin splints. The A's want Buck to get some swings in the minors with hopes of ramping him back towards his potential before returning to the majors.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsFriday 5/2, 8:36 AM CT
Travis Buck will begin a rehab assignment Saturday at Triple-A Sacramento and could be there as long as a week, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Buck is coming back from shin splints.

Our View: With the way Buck was hitting before the injury, some time off could do him nothing but good. Hopefully he'll come back fresh and back in form.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsWednesday 4/30, 9:53 AM CT
Travis Buck is unlikely to return from the DL when eligible, according to the SF Chronicle. Buck, who is recovering from shin splints, said he was not scheduled to run on Tuesday but he was going to field grounders. He likely will head out on a rehab assignment soon, one that is likely to extend past Sunday, the day he is first eligible to come off the DL.

Our View: Buck was only hitting .154 over 65 at-bats, with 20 strikeouts before getting hurt, and fantasy owners should not be disappointed he may be out a while longer than Sunday.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsTuesday 4/29, 11:24 AM CT
Travis Buck ran and shagged flyballs before the game on Monday and said it went well, according to the SF Chronicle. If he does that for a few days without pain, he is likely to go on a rehab assignment. He is recovering from shin splints while on the DL.

Our View: Buck was only hitting .154 over 65 at-bats, with 20 strikeouts, before going on the shelf. Fantasy owners are not waiting for him to come back.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsThursday 4/24, 1:10 PM CT
Travis Buck has been placed on the 15-day DL due to shin splints, according to the AP. The move is retroactive to April 19.

Our View: Buck is only hitting .154 over 65 at-bats, with 20 strikeouts and no homers, and he won't be missed while he is gone.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsMonday 4/21, 9:02 AM CT
Travis Buck missed a second straight game on Sunday due to shin splints, the Oakland Tribune reports.

Our View: Buck remains day-to-day and could be back when the team suits up again on Tuesday.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSaturday 4/19, 5:06 PM CT
Travis Buck is once again dealing with shin splints and as a result he will not be in the A's lineup on Saturday, this according to MLB.com. "It's something that has been on and off for him since Spring Training," manager Bob Geren said.

Our View: It was Travis Buck bobblhead day at the park, so you know he must have been in pain to miss the outing. This is the fourth time he has been forced to the bench with the issue, though since he is hitting just .154 on the year perhaps he should take a couple of days off to get right.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSaturday 4/12, 12:55 PM CT
Travis Buck is nursing shin splints, but will probably be in the lineup today against hurler Fausto Carmona and the Indians, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He could use another day off, as he is only hitting .189 over 37 at-bats, with 12 strikeouts. Carmona is notably 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA right now.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsFriday 4/11, 5:31 PM CT
Travis Buck will sit out the A's game on Friday due to shin splints, this according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The report also went on to say that Buck should be back in the lineup on Saturday. After an awful start to the year, Buck has seven hits and four RBI in his last three games so you'll want to keep him active and hope he only misses this one game.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsTuesday 4/8, 9:30 PM CT
Travis Buck finally picked up his first hit of the year Tuesday, doubling in a run in the second while also adding a single later on. He finished with a 2-for-6 night at the plate, and while Buck is still batting just .074 on the year, that's certainly better than .000.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSaturday 4/5, 7:01 PM CT
Travis Buck was on the bench on Saturday as the A's faced C.C. Sabathia as Buck is currently 0-for-18 with nine strikeouts. Buck is being counted on to provide a solid bat from the top of the A's lineup this season, and given the A"s dearth of top level talent, there would appear to be plenty of playing time coming his way to prove his worth at the major league level.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsWednesday 4/2, 4:00 PM CT
Travis Buck has been benched for Wednesday's game against Boston, MLB.com. He was off to a dreadful 0-for-14 start and stated, "The way I'm swinging. I won't be able to hit anyone right now."
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsWednesday 4/2, 12:15 PM CT
Travis Buck went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts against Boston on Tuesday. He notably went 0-for-5 on opening day as well, and could be playing himself out of a job.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsWednesday 3/26, 9:46 AM CT
Travis Buck followed up his 0-for-5 opening day game against the Red Sox, with an 0-for-5 game two. Buck, who hit .288 in 285 at-bats in 2007 will eventually get warm up, but starting the season 0-for-10 is the last thing a player, and his fantasy managers, want or need.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsTuesday 3/25, 9:40 AM CT
Travis Buck started in left field in Oakland's season opener against Boston, but he failed to impress as he went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts. Buck hit .288 over 285 at-bats in 2007, so he is capable of favorable production.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsThursday 9/13, 11:56 AM CT
Travis Buck underwent elbow surgery on Monday, and manager Bob Geren said the procedure turned out as well as it could have, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The best-case-scenario has Buck being fully recovered by October, so there's little doubt that he'll be fine for spring training next year.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsFriday 8/31, 11:26 PM CT
Travis Buck will have an operation on Sept. 10 to tighten a loose ligament in his right elbow, according to the AP. He has been on the disabled list since Aug. 20 with a strained left hamstring. Earlier this year, he was on the DL from June 28 to July 14 with a sprained right thumb.

Our View: Buck has been one of the walking wounded all year for Oakland. Ending his season now should give all of his ailments time to heal properly.

Travis Buck remained sidelined on Sunday due to the hamstring strain he suffered during Friday's game. "I feel better," Buck told the Contra Costa Times. "Things are starting to head in the right direction. It's something you can't push, have got to take as much time as you need to have it heal. It's still sore, but strength-wise it's feeling like it's starting to heal." It sounds like Buck probably is several days away from getting back into game action.
Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSunday 8/19, 5:00 AM CT
Travis Buck only expects to be out a couple of days with his strained left hamstring, the AP reports. "It wasn't as bad as they initially thought it was," Buck said before Saturday's game. "It's still a little tight. It's a slight strain. I've never done anything to my legs, so I didn't know what to expect. It's a good sign."

Travis Buck, RF, Oakland AthleticsSunday 4/1, 5:42 PM CT
