Joel Peralta, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 12/15, 5:10 PM CT
The Nationals and right-hander Joel Peralta have agreed on a minor league contract.

Our View: The former Rockie opted for free agency, and even though the Nats scooped him up, he's not likely to make much of an impact. Last season he had a 6.20 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 27 appearances.

Joel Peralta has been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Our View: Peralta had gotten torched in his last two outings, and has an abysmal 5.85 ERA on the season. Barring an injury in the Rockies bullpen, he's not likely to be recalled any time soon.

Joel Peralta has been recalled by the Rockies from Triple-A Colorado Springs, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Peralta replaces the injured Matt Daley (sprained foot) in the Rockies' bullpen. The 33-year-old vet surrendered 15 homers over 52.2 innings of relief with the Royals last season, and does not look to bode well while playing at home at launching pad Coors Field.

Joel Peralta has been released by the Royals, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: The club cut the 33-year-old vet instead of sending him to the minors to save around $480,000 on his $640,000 salary. He surrendered four homers, six runs and 10 hits over 8.2 innings of spring action.

According to the Kansas City Star, Joel Peralta has reinvented himself with a new delivery. His last eight spring outs recorded have been strikeouts and he is making a bid to reclaim his spot in a crowded Royals bullpen.

Our View: This change seems to be working for Peralta. If he truly becomes consistently effective but doesn't make the Royals team, he'll likely end up with someone else as he is out of options. Regardless of the team he winds up on, he has little fantasy value.

Reliever Joel Peralta pitched one inning Thursday, giving up one run on one hit in the Royals' 7-2 win over Texas.

Our View: The 32-year-old Peralta has the ability to be a valuable piece of the Royals' bullpen, but he'll have to cut down on the home runs (15 allowed in 52 innings in 2008) if he's to make an impact.

According to the Associated Press, Joel Peralta's one-year deal with the Royals is worth $640,000.

Our View: Peralta does not garner any fantasy consideration whatsoever, especially allowing a home run every 3+ innings and sporting a wretched ERA just below six.

Joel Peralta has signed a deal with the Royals, hence avoiding salary arbitration, according to the Kansas City Star. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Our View: The 32-year-old reliever does not look to hold much fantasy value in 2009 with Kansas City.

Joel Peralta has been recalled by the Royals, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: Peralta replaces struggling reliever Jimmy Gobble, who was just placed on the DL.

Joel Peralta was optioned to Triple-A Omaha, according to the Kansas City Star. The team activated setup man Leo Nunez from the DL, and announced that Peralta was the corresponding move to free up a roster spot.

Our View: Peralta held little fantasy value as he allowed 32 hits and 19 earned runs over 31 innings of relief.
Joel Peralta, P, Washington NationalsMonday 6/23, 5:36 PM CT
The Royals recalled Joel Peralta from Triple-A Omaha Monday. Jeff Fulchino was optioned to make room on the roster.

Our View: Peralta didn't deserve to be sent down the first time, so it's good to see him back.
Joel Peralta, P, Washington NationalsSunday 6/8, 12:25 PM CT
The Royals optioned Joel Peralta to Triple-A Omaha Sunday. Peralta was one of six relievers used in Saturday's 12-11 loss to the Yankees, as he allowed a run in 1 1/3 innings. Jeff Fulchino was brought up from Omaha to replace Peralta on the roster.

Our View: Peralta is likely just the victim of a numbers game here, as KC just needed another fresh arm. The righty's ERA (5.64) is bloated this year, as his other numbers (1.16 WHIP, 17/4 K/BB rate) are quite good.

Joel Peralta is recovering from a precautionary spinal tap performed last week, according to the KC Star. He was dealing with severe headaches and a high fever. It's not clear when he'll resume pitching.
