Our View: In 10.1 major league innings this season, Eyre has a 3.48 ERA. He will likely be used sparingly.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersWednesday 8/19, 5:37 PM CT
Willie Eyre hs been recalled by the Rangers from Triple-A Oklahoma City, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: Eyre holds a 4.91 ERA and poor 1.50 WHIP over 7.1 innings of relief this season, and does not merit fantasy consideration.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersTuesday 7/28, 7:12 PM CT
Willie Eyre has been optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City, according to MLBlogs.com. The team made the move to make room for the promotion of Guillermo Moscoso.

Our View: Eyre has only thrown 7.1 innings for the Rangers this season, and he has accumulated a 4.91 ERA while only striking out two. He is better suited for work in the minors for now, so this move should benefit the Rangers' bullpen.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersMonday 7/20, 4:58 PM CT
The Rangers called up Willie Eyre from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Eyre, who replaces the DL-bound Frank Francisco on Texas' roster, will be used in middle relief. He's been solid with a 2.29 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 19.2 innings (10 appearances, two starts) at Triple-A this season, though he's been mostly ineffective with a 5.06 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 5.1 innings (four appearances) in the majors this year. With that said, there's no reason for fantasy owners to know his name.

As expected, Willie Eyre has been sent down to Triple-A Oklahoma City by the Rangers to make room for outfielder Julio Borbon on the roster, according to TSN.

Our View: He was limited to only 5.1 innings of relief this season due to a strained right groin, and the 30-year-old vet held no fantasy value.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersFriday 6/26, 5:34 PM CT
Willie Eyre has been activated from the 60-day DL following his recovery from a strained groin, according to the Sports Network. Outfielder Brandon Boggs was sent down to Triple-A to make room on the roster.

Our View: Eyre only holds value in deeper fantasy leagues that feature middle men. He has a career 5.26 ERA.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersMonday 6/15, 3:12 PM CT
Injured pitcher (groin) Willie Eyre threw a live bullpen session on Sunday and could begin a rehab assignment soon according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Eyre has made only three appearances since 2007, so whenever he returns it is unclear how much value he will be of to the Rangers. It is clear that he is not a viable fantasy option at this time, though.

Willie Eyre, who is recovering from a strained groin, threw a bullpen session Wednesday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: He did not experience any pain during or after the bullpen session, and is slated for another session on Friday. He could return to the Rangers' bullpen before the end of May, but does not merit fantasy attention.

Willie Eyre indicated that it could be around two weeks before he picks up a baseball again while recovering from a strained groin, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Severe inflammation is holding him back, and he added that he would not be surprised if it takes closer to 3-4 weeks before he resumes throwing.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersThursday 4/23, 12:45 PM CT
Willie Eyre has been placed on the 15-day DL after aggravating a right-groin injury, according to the Dallas Morning News. Luis Mendoza has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City as the adjoining move.

Our View: Eyre did not hold any fantasy value as a reliever, especially since he allowed three walks and three earned runs over 4.1 innings of work.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersWednesday 4/22, 11:16 PM CT
The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Willie Eyre left Wednesday's game against Toronto with an injury. He was replaced by C.J. Wilson.

Our View: Eyre left after throwing his third pitch of the tenth inning, and this is not a good sign. He was activated a week ago from a DL stint for an injured right groin, so this could be a big setback for him. The Rangers' bullpen hasn't been very good this season, so this should only make matters worse.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersWednesday 4/15, 4:02 PM CT
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that the Rangers have activated Willie Eyre from the disabled list. Eyre missed all of 2008 recovering from elbow surgery.

Our View: No fantasy impact here, but he could help out a Rangers' bullpen that is less than stellar.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersSaturday 4/11, 1:09 PM CT
Willie Eyre is eligible to be activated from the DL, but he's not quite ready to return, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Eyre pitched 2/3 of an inning Thursday and the Rangers would still like him to get two or three more outings in before considering activating him from the DL.
Willie Eyre, P, Texas RangersSunday 3/29, 1:56 PM CT
Willie Eyre was scratched from a minor league game Saturday while dealing with tightness in his groin, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: It is uncertain when he will be able to return to the mound, hence hurting his chances of earning a spot in the Rangers' bullpen.

Willie Eyre , who underwent Tommy John surgery last August, reported with the pitchers and catchers and is currently in camp on a Minor League contract, according to the Rangers official website. Eyre will need most of the season to rehab from his August TJS, and while he is not officially on the Spring Training roster, the Rangers afforded the veteran a spot in the Major League clubhouse with the rest of the team.

Willie Eyre is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery on Monday, according to the Dallas Morning News. He posted a 5.16 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 33 appearances this season. Most likely, he will miss all of the 2008 season while recovering from the procedure.

Willie Eyre left Tuesday night's game in the fifth inning after being hit in the chest by a Placido Polanco line drive, according to the AP. The ball hit Eyre in the chest and dropped into his glove as he fell to the ground in pain. He stayed on the ground for several moments before walking off under his own power.

The Rangers will call upon Willie Eyre to start tonight in place of the injured Vincente Padilla. It will be the first career start for Eyre, who is 2-3 with a 3.00 ERA in 19 games out of the bullpen for the Rangers this season. If he pitches well tonight, he could start again on Sunday in Boston, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Since Willie Eyre was called on to pitch on Thursday, he's been scratched from his scheduled start today. The Rangers will recall John Koronka for a spot start, according to the Dallas Morning News. Koronka likely will replace Ramon Vazquez on the Rangers roster.
