Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 2/25, 8:31 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki will miss a bit of time at spring training to be with his family following the death of his cousin Lexy Winters due to skin cancer, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lexy's friends and family. Expect Tulo to be back in the next week or two and ready to resume his normal activities.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 11/18, 1:38 PM CT
SI.com is reporting that Rockies' manager Jim Tracy has been named the NL Manager of the Year. Tracy is only the second man to win the award after taking over his team in the middle of the season.

Our View: The Rockies were dead in the water when Tracy took over, and he lit a fire under his players and led them to a Wild Card berth. He received all but two of the first place votes.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 10/7, 4:45 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki drove in the only run the Rockies could muster off of Cliff Lee in a 5-1 loss to the Phillies in the NLDS opener.

Our View: Tulo was 2-for-4 with the RBI double and was the only Rockie who seemed to figure out Lee. He'll have another matchup against a lefty tomorrow with Cole Hamels on the mound, and the Rockies will need similar results from their shortstop and a big increase in production from their other top bats if they're going to escape Philadelphia with a split.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 10/1, 5:21 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki was at the center of it all again on Thursday. The dazzling young shortstop went 3-for-3 with an RBI and his 20th stolen base, as the Rockies clinched a playoff berth via a 9-2 smackdown of the Brewers.

Our View: Tulo is now just one percentage point away from posting his first .300 season. His 31 home runs and 20 steals are already career highs.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 9/27, 7:50 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in the Rockies 4-3 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.

Our View: Tulo's monster second half continues and looks like he'll ride his hot streak into the postseason. Since the All Star break he's hitting .333 with 14 homers and 50 RBI.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesFriday 9/25, 10:04 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with a run scored in tonight's 2-1 win over the Cardinals at Coors Field. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View: Tulowitzki extended his hitting streak to nine games, and scored his team-leading 94th run.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 9/24, 11:38 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki pounded a three-run homer in the first inning on Thursday, but it wasn't enough as Rockies fell to the Padres 5-4. Tulo was 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI in the game.

Our View: Tulo continues to stay piping hot, and he continues to hit for power. He was NL player of the week last week, and he has been an outstanding fantasy play as of late.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 9/21, 5:05 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki has been named the NL Player of the Week, according to MLB.com. He earned the weekly honor by hitting .391 (9-for-23) with four homers and eight runs scored.

Our View: Tulowitzki launched a homer in four straight games from Tuesday-Saturday, becoming the first shortstop to accomplish that feat since Miguel Tejada did it back in 2005 with Baltimore.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 9/17, 12:30 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki carried the Rockies again on Wednesday, going 3-for-4 with a home run and an RBI, as Colorado outlasted the Giants 4-3 in San Francisco.

Our View: That's just Tulo being Tulo. In 136 games this season, he is now batting .285 with 78 RBI and a career-high 27 home runs.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 9/13, 7:15 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-2 with two walks in the Rockies 7-3 loss to the Padres on Sunday.

Our View: Tulo has cooled considerable in September, which is bad news for the Rockies. He's hit just one home run and driven in only three teammates this month. His bat will have to heat up if the Rox want to retain control of the Wild Card spot.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 9/13, 12:10 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with his 25th home run on Saturday night, but the Rockies finally had their eight-game winning streak snapped, losing 3-2 in ten innings in San Diego.

Our View: With his home run, Tulo officially surpassed his previous career-high of 24 bombs set in 2007.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 9/10, 1:45 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki is out of the Rockies' lineup for the third straight game on Wednesday, according to ESPN.com. Tulo is still dealing with a strained lower back.

Our View: Tulo will be available to pinch-hit tonight, but he isn't ready to play the field just yet. The team is heading out on a road trip after today's game, so expect him back either this weekend or early next week.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 9/9, 5:08 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki's strained lower back is improving, but he is still out of the Rockies' lineup on Wednesday against the Reds, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Unless his recovery pace really amps up in the next day or two, he likely won't be back in the lineup until next Monday when the team starts a crucial three-game series with San Francisco.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 9/7, 8:55 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki strained his lower back during Monday's battle with the Reds, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Omar Quintanilla replaced him at shortstop late in the game, and could remain in the lineup if Tulowitzki needs to miss time.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 9/2, 10:49 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the Rockies 5-2 win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Our View: The slugging shortstop has certainly regained his form this season. He's now hitting .286 with 24 homers and 74 RBI has been red hot down the stretch, hitting .346 in August.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 8/30, 8:55 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki did everything he could to keep the Rockies in the top spot for the NL Wild Card on Sunday. He went 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI, but the Rockies couldn't get it done and fell to the Giants 9-5.

Our View: Tulo's homer was his 24th of the season, matching his career high he set as a rookie. That total leads all true shortstops in major league baseball.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 8/27, 5:47 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 3-for-4 to raise his average to a season-high .283 on Thursday (if you don't count the first five games of the season), but couldn't help the Rockies past the Dodgers, as Colorado lost 3-2 at home.

Our View: Batting .340 with seven home runs and 33 RBI since the All-Star break, Tulo has been one of the top hitters in baseball.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 8/26, 10:40 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki stayed hot on Wednesday, going 2-for-4, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Rockies lost 6-1 to the Dodgers at home.

Our View: Tulo is now batting .330 in August to go along with four home runs and 19 RBI.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 8/25, 11:17 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki produced when it mattered most on Tuesday night as he delievered a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the tenth to beat the Dodgers 5-4. Tulowitzki went 2-for-5 in the game with a double and two RBI.

Our View: If last night's win over the Giants in extras was the biggest win of the season for the Rox, tonight was undoubtedly second. Colorado is the hottest team in baseball right now, and Tulo is one of the main reasons for that. After a disappointing 2008, Tulo has rebounded to become one of the better fantasy shortstops in the game this season.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesFriday 8/21, 8:22 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki was held out of Friday's lineup with the stomach flu, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The Rockies think he has a 24-hour stomach bug and he shouldn't be out long. He did yack before Friday's game though and manager Jim Tracy sent him home early, so as not to infect anyone else on the team. He will be monitored over the weekend and once he's healthy and hydrated, he'll be back in the lineup.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 8/13, 5:12 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki homered for the third time in four games on Thursday, helping the Rox and Jason Marquis stifle the Pirates 10-1 in Denver.

Our View: Tulo now has 23 bombs on the season and is batting a healthy .277. Is he too young to win the comeback player of the year award?
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 8/12, 10:43 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki helped pace the Rockies again on Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored as Colorado beat Pittsburgh 8-0 at home.

Our View: Tulo's renaissance is great news for Rockie fans and fantasy players alike. Don't expect to be able to get him much lower than the fourth or fifth round of your draft next season.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 8/11, 11:22 PM CT
One night after hitting for the cycle, Troy Tulowitzki hit his 22nd home run, but it wasn't enough as the Rockies lost 7-3 to the Pirates at home.

Our View: Tulo is now just two off his career high of 24 from 2007. He has worked hard to re-establish himself as one of the NL's top shortstops, and should be treated as such in next year's drafts.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 8/10, 11:08 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki was in the zone in tonight's 11-5 win over the Cubs at Coors Field, as he went 5-for-5 with seven RBI and two runs scored. He hit two singles, a double, a triple and a two-run homer off Tom Gorzelanny.

Our View: Tulowitzki hit for the cycle for the first time this season, and collected his team-leading 21st homer. He paces Colorado with 66 runs scored as well, and should remain a solid option among fantasy shortstops.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 8/2, 5:24 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-5 and hit his 20th home run of the season in Colorado's 6-4, 11-inning win over the Reds on Sunday.

Our View: Tulo slumped to start the season, but has turned it on since June 1st. He hit seven homers in June, seven in July and now has one just two days into August. He's beginning to look like the player everyone though he would be when he took the league by storm as a rookie. He leads all shortstops in home runs.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 7/27, 9:39 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-2 with a single and a two-run homer off Oliver Perez in tonight's 7-3 loss at New York.

Our View: Tulowitzki crushed his seventh homer this month, and his 19th of 2009. Seven were hit away from launching pad Coors Field.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 7/26, 6:11 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki knocked in a run and reached base three times on Sunday, as the Rockies won a crucial game against the Giants, 4-2.

Our View: While still batting just .256, Tulo is all the way back from an ugly 2008 season, and should keep hitting down the stretch.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 7/25, 11:48 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 3-for-4 with a homer and five RBI in the Rockies' 8-2 win over the Giants on Saturday.

Our View: This was easily Tulo's biggest offensive outburst of the season. It gave him six homers and 14 RBI for the month, but he's still hitting under .250 for July. The power has been there all season (18 homers), but he's hit .242 or lower in every month this season but June (.305). It appears to be feast or famine with him.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 7/21, 11:13 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki blasted his 17th home run of the season on Tuesday, but it came in a losing effort, as the Rockies lost 6-5 to the Diamondbacks at home.

Our View: Despite his 17 home runs, Tulo has just 40 RBI on the season. It's an encouraging sign that he has hit so consistently for power this season, though, after his prodigious drought in 2008.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 7/11, 11:20 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 1-for-3 with a solo homer off Jair Jurrjens in tonight's 4-3 loss to the Braves at Coors Field.

Our View: Tulowitzki clubbed his third homer of July, and his 15th of the season. He only trails Ian Stewart (16) for the team lead in homers, and Tulowitzki should remain a nice source for power in fantasy leagues.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 7/8, 5:26 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 3-for4 with a home run and two RBIs on Wednesday as the Rockies routed the Nationals 10-4 in Devner.

Our View: After struggling through many slumps and injuries since the beginning of 2008, Tulo appears to finally be back. He has raised his average from .221 on June 1 to .253, and homered nine times in that span. He should be in your starting lineup in every format.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesFriday 7/3, 11:39 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the Rockies' 5-0 win over Arizona on Friday night.

Our View: He's not having the bounce-back campaign that many pundits predicted, but he's not as bad as he was last season. His .253-12-32 linie could be much worse.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/24, 12:06 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki continued his climb back to fantasy relevance on Tuesday, even as the Rockies lost, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs.

Our View: Tulowitzki is now batting .266 after entering June at .221 and appears to finally be over his prolonged sophomore slump. He's worth owning if not already on a team in your league.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/17, 10:44 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki hit a three-run shot off of David Price in Wednesday's 5-3 win over Tampa Bay. It was his only hit in four at bats and he also struck out twice.

Our View: Troy Trevor Tulowitzki is heating up. He is hitting .300 this month and has four home runs in 40 at bats. He has raised his average an impressive 35 points in the last 10 days.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesFriday 6/12, 11:11 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 1-for-2 with a solo homer in Friday's 6-4 win over the Mariners at Coors Field. He drew two walks and scored three runs, and also stole a base.

Our View: He extended his hitting streak to six games, with three homers over the span. Keep him active in fantasy lineups while he is swinging a hot stick.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 6/6, 5:37 PM CT
The Denver Post is reporting that Troy Tulowitzki will not be in the Rockies' lineup Saturday night in St. Louis. Tulowitzki is expected to play Sunday for the Rockies against the Cardinals.

Our View: Tulo hit without any problem yesterday, but manager Jim Tracy decided to keep him out tonight. Expect him to return to the lineup tomorrow, and he should be fine when he does return. He will be replaced by Clint Barmes at short tonight.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 6/2, 9:15 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki left Tuesday's game against Houston in the fourth inning with a sore left hand, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Omar Quintanilla replaced him in the field. Tulowitzki was taken to a hospital for precautionary X-rays.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 5/20, 3:26 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki will ride the pine for tonight's game at Atlanta, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: He has five hits over his last 19 at-bats, and irked skipper Clint Hurdle by swinging at the first pitch and hitting into a double-play in Tuesday's game. Omar Quintanilla will replace him at shortstop.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 5/19, 9:49 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki drove in the only run of the game for the Rockies in their 8-1 loss to the Braves on Tuesday. However, he did not record a hit in the contest.

Our View: Tulo has been bad once again this season, after many predicted a bounce back season. He's hitting just .244 with five homers and 13 RBI. He'll need to make giant strides to save his season if he doesn't pick it up soon.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 5/14, 12:53 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki is out of Thursday's lineup against the Astros after being struck on the elbow by a pitch yesterday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Tulowitzki expects to return to the diamond Friday against the Pirates at PNC Park.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 5/12, 8:57 AM CT
The Denver Post is reporting that Troy Tulowitzki is expected to return to the Rockies' lineup Tuesday after missing Monday's game with tightness in his quad.

Our View: Tulo said he is feeling much better, and he thinks he is good to go for tonight. He has had a slow start to the season, but he has all the tools to be an effective middle infield fantasy option if he stays healthy.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 5/11, 6:08 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki strained his left quadriceps on Sunday and has chosen rest over treatment as a method of recovery, according to MLB.com. It won't be known until tomorrow if he'll be forced to miss time, nor is it known how much time he'd be out if he does indeed sit.

Our View: Tulowitzki suffered the injury in the sixth inning on Sunday but was able to stay in the game before being removed in the ninth, so it doesn't appear to be too serious of an issue, although it was his left quadriceps that kept the shortstop out of 47 games last season. We'll keep you up to date on Tulowitzki's status for Tuesday, but for now, it may be best to find a day-to-day replacement if your league allows daily lineup changes.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 5/10, 6:17 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, an RBI, and a run scored as the Rockies beat the Marlins 3-2 on Sunday.

Our View: Tulo has a pair of hits in each of his last three games. He has collected two home runs and four RBI over that span and it appears that he should be a productive member of your lineups going forward.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 5/9, 12:06 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI on Friday as the Rockies fell to the Marlins 8-3.

Our View: Tulo now has four dingers this season, but is struggling with a .211 average. He's also only driven ten runs and fantasy owners are waiting for him to return to his Rookie of the Year form.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 4/29, 12:43 PM CT
Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will be back in the lineup on Wednesday after not starting the previous two games, the Denver Post confirms.

Our View: The Rockies were giving Tulo a little chance to clear his head and work in his swing. He did get two at-bats on Tuesday night, so the break wasn't very long.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 4/11, 11:47 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki hit his third homer of the season in Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Phillies. It was a two-run shot and his only hit in two at-bats.

Our View: The Rockies' shortstop, a disappointment a year ago, is looking for a return to form in 2009. He's off to a good start, hitting three homers with five RBI and a .333 average in just five games.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 4/8, 1:40 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki hit his second home run of the season Tuesday night in Colorado's 3-0 win over Arizona.

Our View: Though it's only been two games, Tulowitzki's stroke at the plate indicates he may be prepared to repeat his '07 numbers (.291/.359/.479). That is not to say he'll hit 24 homers again, but his health this season will go a long way in determining whether we'll see him be the player we all know he can be.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 4/6, 6:12 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki hit his first home run of the season as the Rockies lost their opener 9-8 in Arizona on Monday. The solo shot was his only hit in four at-bats as the shortstop also collected his first strikeout.

Our View: Tulowitzki managed just eight home runs as he struggled through last season, so this blast was a welcome sight. He was among the best fantasy options at his position two seasons ago, and his numbers figure to resemble something closer to those numbers rather than the dropoff he experienced last season.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 3/24, 7:27 PM CT
Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-5 with a double and a homer in a minor league game on Tuesday. He previously missed two games due to a sore lower back, the Denver Post notes.

Our View: The injury wasn't thought to be serious, but it's good to see Tulo back in action. We hope he fares as well against major league pitching this season.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 3/22, 6:39 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki sat out Sunday's game with a sore back, but said he could have certainly played through it if it were a regular season game, according to MLB.com.

Our View: It appears that this is not any thing to get overly worried about. Tulowitzki is hitting just .250 this spring with one home run in 36 at-bats.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 3/17, 8:40 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki was 2-for-4 Tuesday and hit his first home run of the spring. He also drove in three on the day.

Our View: Tulowitzki's numbers are not incredible this spring, but patience is a virtue and he is a prime candidate for a breakout year. Sophomore slumps are common in this game and Tulo showed signs of breaking out of it with a hot September last year. And don't forget where he plays most of his games.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 3/15, 9:26 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki was 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored, and his third double of the spring in Sunday's 9-5 win over the Dodgers.

Our View: It's easy to get caught up in the dismal numbers from Tulo's 2008 season, but take a look at September when he went .330/.392/.534. If that made you think of 2007 Rookie of the Year Tulo than you are not alone. We'll take the glass half-full approach with the 24-year-old shortstop even if he is only hitting .241 this spring.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 2/28, 10:00 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki had a rough day for the Rockies on Saturday, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout.

Our View: Tulowitzki certainly fell off a bit for the Rockies in 2008 after posting 24 homers and 99 RBI in 2007 as a rookie. This was primarily due to a torn left quad, which he appears to be fully recovered from.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 11/30, 10:17 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki is making solid progress in his recovery from a torn left quad, according to the Denver Post. Tulowitzki simply stated, "It's feeling a lot better."

Our View: He was limited to 101 games and 377 at-bats in 2008 due to the injury. He looks to bounce back in 2009, namely in the power department.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 9/29, 4:20 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki is already looking forward to 2009 according to the Rocky Mountain News. "The sooner the better," he said. "We can put (the 2008 season) behind us."

Our View: After hitting .166 with only three home runs and 16 RBI in a first half limited to 151 at-bats by disabled list stints for a torn tendon in his left quadriceps and right hand laceration, Tulowitzki finished by hitting .323 with five home runs and 30 RBI in 223 at-bats the second half of the season.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 9/22, 8:55 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki is finally displaying the All-Star form that he displayed last season having hit .317 over his last 56 games, according to the Rockies Official Website.

Our View: Tulo will finish with poor numbers, he is currently hitting .252-7-41 with 43 runs, but with his improved play of late he should probably be valued at one of the top-10 shortstops heading into next season after his injury plagued 2008 campaign.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 9/15, 10:38 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with a double, homer, and four RBI in Monday's 11-5 loss to the Padres.

Our View: It's way too late for Tulo to salvage his disappointing, injury-riddled season, but he is building his value back up for 2009. He is hitting .319 since the All-Star break.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 9/14, 5:47 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki knocked in the only run in the Rockies 1-0 victory over the Dodgers on Sunday.

Our View: After an abysmal first half (.166 in 151 AB), Tulowitzki has done a much better job over his last 178 AB posting a strong .315 mark. However, he has gone deep only three times over those 50 games, so he clearly isn't back to the form that he flashed during his standout rookie season.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 8/25, 10:51 PM CT
Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is not yet 100 percent healed from his torn quad muscle, and admits he will not be fully healthy until next season rolls around, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Though Tulo said it does not affect him at the plate, that is hard to believe, considering the season he has had. Dumping him and picking up someone else without still-torn quad may not be a bad idea.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 8/16, 9:48 PM CT
The Rockies routed the Nationals on Saturday night, and Troy Tulowitzki led the charge. He went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs, and three RBI.

Our View: It would be nice to see Tulo settle in and put up regular performances like this down the stretch. He has had a very disappointing season, and we're looking for reasons to trust the youngster in 2009.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 8/12, 11:22 PM CT
Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki went 0-for-4 on the night, and saw his club lose to Arizona by the score of 4-2.

Our View: Tulowitzki saw his August batting average drop to .250. He still does not have a home run since coming off his most recent trip to the DL, and he has only accumulated two RBI in that time as well. Fantasy owners are surely looking for a bit more. There's still time to be patient with him, but he will need to start producing sometime soon.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 8/7, 4:58 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki got on base twice, with a walk and a single in a 1-for-3 day in the Rockies loss to Washington.

Our View: Tulowitzki now has an on-base percentage of .478 in August, as he has walked five times in the last three games. His overall numbers aren't grand, but they continue rising to the benefit of fantasy owners.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 7/31, 10:27 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki saw his modest six-game hitting streak come to a halt with an 0-for-5 contest, but still ended July with a .418 batting average for the month.

Our View: We're all aware what Tulowitzki is capable of, and his batting average should continue to rise despite this minor setback.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 7/30, 9:44 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki had three hits on Wednesday night and has racked up 13 hits over his last six games to boost his average from .195 to .241.

Our View: Now that's more like it young man. It was only a matter of time before this stud started swinging the stick, and it looks like he is heating up just as the Rockies are ready to make a run in the NL West.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 7/26, 10:11 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki had three hits in five at-bats Saturday, and he is now 15-for-28 since coming off the DL July 21.

Our View: Tulowitzki is still available on the waiver wire in many leagues, but he won't be for long, so pick him up right now if he is there.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 7/21, 11:51 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 5-for-5 with a double, four singles, one run, and one RBI in Monday's loss to the Dodgers. It was his first game since coming off the DL.

Our View: Apparently his adjustments at the plate are working, huh? We'll be more inclined to believe in Tulo's resurgence when he strings together a long run of success. This is an excellent start.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 7/21, 5:48 PM CT
The Rockies have activated Troy Tulowitzki from the 15-day DL, MLB.com confirms. He was out due to a right hand laceration.

Our View: Manager Clint Hurdle made some recent comments about Tulo working out some kinks in his swing, and hopefully he can start to turn around this nightmare season. Clint Barmes could continue to work in at short if Tulowitzki struggles.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 7/21, 9:24 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki has recovered from his right hand laceration and is expected to be activated from the DL Monday, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The Rockies noted that he is still a work in progress and needs to work out a few kinks in his swing. Jeff Baker and Clint Barmes are hitting well right now, and manager Clint Hurdle is in no hurry to annoint Tulowitzki as the everyday shortstop again. Hurdle did not indicate that Tulowitzki will be rested more, but is going to keep everyone in play. His fantasy value could be compromised for the time being, and should be left on your bench until he makes an impact.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 7/19, 11:25 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki could be activated from the DL Monday, manager Clint Hurdle told the AP. He is out with a right hand laceration.

Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 7/19, 10:01 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki got off to a good start in his recovery from a lacerated hand. He went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI in a Double-A game on Friday.

Our View: Tulowitzki has looked nothing like the superstar of last season, but he should be due for a solid rebound once he gets back to Colorado. The Rockies' offense has been heating up and Tulowitzki will likely join the party.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 7/16, 10:47 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki will begin a five-game rehab assignment Wednesday with Double-A Tulsa, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The shortstop, who is recovering from a 16-stitch cut on his right palm, could rejoin the Rox next Monday against the Dodgers if all goes well.

Our View: Tulo has played just 39 games so far because of this injury and his quad ailment. He's hit just .166 in 151 at-bats.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 7/15, 3:28 PM CT
The Denver Post indicates that Troy Tulowitzki will require a rehab stint before rejoining the team. He had 16 stitches removed from his palm on Monday.

Our View: He looks to return at some point in late July, and is worth keeping stashed on your rosters for your playoff push.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 7/14, 12:46 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki will have the stitches removed from his right hand Monday, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: That could put him on schedule to return at some point in late July. He is worth keeping stashed on your roster for the stretch run.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 7/5, 12:04 PM CT
The Rockies have placed Troy Tulowitzki on the disabled list due to an injured thumb. He needed surgery after he smashed a bat and it splintered into his thumb, the Rocky Mountain News reports. The team has not stated a timetable for his return.

Our View: Fantasy owners have already been mad at Tulo, and now he adds this injury to a disappointing year. Clint Barmes will slide back to shortstop, and the tandem of Jeff Baker and Omar Quintanilla will handle second base duties.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 6/29, 3:52 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Indians.

Our View: That must have felt good, to him as well as fantasy owners, as it was his first homer since April 23.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/25, 7:19 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki was not in the Rockies lineup on Wednesday night after starting every game for the club since being activated from the DL, according to the Denver Post. Omar Quintanilla started in his place.

Our View: Tulo has been only 3-for-20 since his return so this night off is likely performance related and not to be construed as a setback with any type of injury.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesFriday 6/20, 9:16 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki has completed a seven-game rehab stint and has rejoined the Rockies, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Tulowitzki underwent a final evaluation by the Rockies' medical team, and participated in pregame infield drills and batting practice in hopes of being activated from the DL before the series opener today against the Mets.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/18, 9:52 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's Triple-A appearance. He also played shortstop. Tulowitzki remains on track to return this weekend, possibly by Friday. He tore a left quad muscle on April 29.

Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 6/17, 8:48 AM CT
There is a good chance that Troy Tulowitzki will return from the DL on Friday, according to the Denver Post. Tulowitzki said, "There is no pain, no discomfort at all. It's just about doing things that I haven't done in awhile. It's just about getting the feel back."

Our View: If not Friday, he should be back by the end of the weekend, meaning he will likely be ready to pencil back into your lineups for the start of the new week. He hit .333 over five games at Single-A Modesto during his rehab stint there.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 6/16, 7:28 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki will head to Triple-A Colorado in the next step of his comeback from a left quadriceps injury, according to the Associated Press. “I’m excited,” Tulowitzki said. “I know it’s getting close. I’m crossing my fingers—hopefully everything goes OK and I’m here with the guys on Friday.”

Our View: Tulowitzki obviously hopes to return to the Rockies for the weekend, and his return will be a huge boost to a team that is suddenly almost completely healthy. Tulo was 4-for-12 at Modesto as he looks to put behind him the memories of an early season swoon that resulted in a .152 average over 26 games with the Rockies.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 6/15, 11:07 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki has completed his rehab work with Single-A Modesto on Sunday (as a DH), and will now continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs, according to MLB.com. Modesto manager Jerry Weinstein said, "Troy was a good role model for our players and is a first-class kid. If our guys are smart, and I think they are, they will pay attention."

Our View: Tulowitzki targeted next Friday as his return date to the Rockies, and seemingly remains on track to do so, as he completed his stint at Modesto pain-free.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesFriday 6/13, 8:48 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki commented on his first rehab game, according to Denver Post. The start shortstop said, "It felt real good. It's nice to be back on the field playing again."

Our View: He has targeted a week from today (Friday) as his return date. Hopefully he will find his swing when he comes back, as he was only hitting .152 with one homer over 26 games prior to landing on the DL.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 6/11, 9:27 AM CT
With a goal of returning to the Rockies for the New York Mets series, Tulowitzki begins a rehab assignment tonight in Class-A Modesto according to the DenverPost.com. He has been out since April 30 with a torn left quadriceps tendon. Tulowitzki will spend five days in Modesto, playing five innings today, followed by seven Thursday. He will continue increasing his workload before returning Monday to Denver to be re-evaluated. If fine, he would head to Triple-A Colorado Springs for a final chunk of at-bats.

Our View: Tulowitzki's recovery is extremely important to a struggling Rockies team. He produced incredible numbers after the All-Star break during his rookie season.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 6/10, 6:55 PM CT
Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will begin his rehab assignment with Class-A Modesto immediately, headed to join the team as we speak, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Tulowitzki suffered a torn tendon in his left quadriceps and was expected to be out of action until the All-Star break. The team reports he is healing much more quickly than anticipated. The team has refrained from putting a timetable for return on the young shortstop due to the nature of the injury, but it sounds like he's on his way and could be back before too long.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 6/7, 5:59 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki's injured quad is healing well, and he hopes to begin his rehab assignment in full next week, according to MLB.com. "He's doing very well," head trainer Keith Dugger said. "I'd say the last week he's been taking full ground balls. The last four or five days, there's no hesitation. He looks normal."

Our View: This is great news for Tulo owners who could see him back on the field weeks before original estimates would have had us believe (all-star break).
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 6/5, 9:56 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki is expected to begin his rehab assignment within the next week, according to the Denver Post. He will first undergo a few more days of drills at Coors Field to test the strength in his torn left quadriceps tendon. He said, "It's getting really close if there are no setbacks."

Our View: He was previously expected to be out until the All-Star break, but he is seemingly progressing at an accelerated pace.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 5/20, 8:08 PM CT
Injured Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki took part in the Rockies' batting practice today, attempting to avoid media attention by jumping in with the pitchers, according to CBSSports.com.

Our View: Tulo gave himself away with a few long shots into the left-field bleachers, taking his first on-field steps towards recovery since tearing a quad muscle in late April. The team does not expect him back on the field until the All-Star break, but today's appearance has some wondering if he is progressing at an accelerated rate.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 5/19, 8:38 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki has started to partake in light workouts in his attempt to come back from his injured quad, but all he is currently doing is taking ground balls, according to MLB.com. "If I'm feeling good, I can keep moving the exercises with more intensity and I can be back pretty quick," Tulowitzki said. "But if I have a setback, it can take a little longer. I haven't done anything at game speed, so it's tough to tell."

Our View: Because the injury is really hard to pin down, there really isn't a definitive timetable for his return to the Rockies, so continue to maintain your patience with an eye on the injury updates.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 5/3, 6:23 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki has been officially placed on the DL, according to the AP. The team activated lefty Jorge De La Rosa as well.

Our View: Tulowitzki tore a quadriceps muscle in his left leg Tuesday and could be sidelined until the All-Star break. He was only hitting .152 with one home run over 26 games before going on the shelf.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 5/1, 3:53 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki has sustained a torn tendon in his left quadricep and could be out until at least the All-Star break, July 14-16, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Tulowitzki underwent an MRI on Wednesday, and Rockies trainer Keith Dugger confirmed Thursday that the shortstop had suffered a tear in the quad near the hip area.

Our View: Tulowitzki was expected to land on the DL, but was not expected to be out of action until at least the All-Star break. This is a tough loss for fantasy owners, but he wasn't hitting well with only one homer over 26 games with a .152 average, which lessens the pain a bit. The fantasy value of Clint Barmes climbs following this news, and is worth targeting for your roster, especially if you have Tulowitzki and lack a worthy backup to fill his spot. Barmes is hitting .292 over 65 at-bats.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 5/1, 9:36 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki is "all but certain" to land on the DL, according to the Denver Post. He was examined on Wednesday in Denver, with the shortstop stating that he was unsure whether he hurt his quadriceps or suffered a hip flexor Tuesday. He added, "Of course I am frustrated. Once I know the results of my MRI, I will know what's wrong."

Our View: Clint Barmes will cover his spot at shortstop while Tulowitzki is out of action. Barmes is worth targeting for your roster, especially if you have Tulowitzki and lack a worthy backup to fill his spot. Barmes is hitting .292 over 65 at-bats, with two homers and nine RBI.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 4/30, 10:58 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki could be headed to the DL after leaving Tuesday's game against the Giants in the bottom of the first inning with a strained left quadriceps, according to the AP. Tulowitzki limped off the field and returned to Denver on Wednesday morning to be furher examined. Rockies head trainer Keith Dugger said, "He’s in a lot of pain and discomfort, and a lot of spasm after the injury."

Our View: Clint Barmes will cover his spot at shortstop while Tulowitzki is out of action. Before he got hurt, the team was already thin in the infield, as second baseman Jeff Baker popped a blood vessel in his right middle finger during batting practice. Barmes is worth targeting for your roster, especially if you have Tulowitzki and lack a worthy backup to fill his spot.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 4/29, 11:45 PM CT
A strained left quad is what forced Troy Tulowitzki out of Tuesday's game in the first inning, according to the AP. The shortstop was injured when he bent over to try to stop Aaron Rowand's single. He grimaced and grabbed his left hip and lower back area before walking gingerly off the field.

Our View: It sounds like a potential DL stint could be in the offing for Tulo, but we'll reserve judgment for now. Clint Barmes would take over at shortstop should Tulo be sidelined for a while.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 4/29, 9:58 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki had to leave Tuesday's game in the bottom of the first inning after suffering an apparent leg injury.

Our View: With the injuries to Tulo and Jeff Baker, the Rockies infield looked a little out of whack, as Garrett Atkins moved to second base, Chris Iannetta entered the game at third and Clint Barmes moved to shortstop. We'll give you an update on Tulo's status when more is known.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 4/23, 11:06 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki hit his first home run of the season on Wednesday night as he knocked in three runs against the Cubs.

Our View: Tulo still is hitting just .167 after this 1-for-4, so it's not exactly time to start doing cartwheels. Still, it was an encouraging outing and it could possibly signal that he is about ready to turn his season around.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 4/23, 6:36 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki is back in the lineup on Wednesday and will hit from the 7th hole in an attempt to start the long road back to respectability after a terrible start to the season, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Tulo is currently hitting just .163 without a single home run in 80 AB, but he will now hit in the bottom third as the team is going with Clint Barmes in the number two hole. Look for Tulo to rebound soon as he is too talented to be this bad long-term, but that doesn't mean he needs to be in your starting lineup right now.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesTuesday 4/22, 8:00 PM CT
Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki , struggling through a troublesome slump at the plate, has been given the night off and will not be in the lineup for Colorado as they face Philadelphia, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Tulowitzki has seen his batting average drop to .165 after another disappointing evening against the Phillies on Monday night and manager Clint Hurdle thinks a rest will do him well. Clint Barmes, the normal 2B for the Rocks, has gotten the start at SS while Jeff Baker fills his normal position and bats seventh.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesFriday 4/18, 11:09 PM CT
Looking to find his stroke after a brutal start to the season, Troy Tulowitzki had two hits, two runs and three RBI on Friday.

Our View: Even after all of that Tulo is still hitting just .185 with six RBI through 15 games, but Rome wasn't built in a day so he has to start somewhere.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesFriday 4/18, 7:25 AM CT
One night (and one morning) after driving in his first two runs of the season, Troy Tulowitzki drove home Willy Taveras with an RBI double in the 22nd inning of Thursday's win over the Padres. He went 2-for-8 on the night.

Our View: Tulo is still hitting well below .200, but we figure it's only a matter of time before he gets rolling.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesSaturday 4/12, 5:52 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki continued the worst slump of his young career on Saturday as he went 0-for-4 with three K to lower his average to .159.

Our View: Awful. Tulo has managed just two extra base hits in 44 AB (both doubles), and he continues to drain the life out of the top of the Rockies order.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 4/9, 7:28 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki is off to a slow start as he is only hitting 7-for-33, and is yet to hit his first home run of the season. He went 1-for-4 against Atlanta on Tuesday, and needs to get on track soon.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 4/7, 9:56 AM CT

Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 3/26, 6:57 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 1-for-1 with one RBI against Arizona on Wednesday and notably connected on his fifth homer of the spring. He hit 24 home runs in his breakout campaign of 2007 and is off to a great start in that department.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesFriday 3/21, 7:43 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-2 on Friday to raise his spring average to .324. Tulowitzki has three doubles and a HR in the past two games as he is rounding into the form that allowed him to be so productive last season. Tulo doesn't figure to steal many bases this season, but hitting in the number two hole should lead to a whole lot of chances to score a ton of runs for the Rockies.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 3/19, 6:39 PM CT
Troy Tulowitzki hammered his fourth home run of the spring on Wednesday, and went 3-for-4 overall. He memorably hit 24 home runs over 155 games in 2007.

The Rockies and the agent for Troy Tulowitzki are expected to begin "intense" negotiations next week in an attempt to finalize a potentially historic long-term contract. Based on the parameters discussed to date, Tulowitzki stands to make about $30 million over six years, which would be a record for a player with less than two years' experience, according to the Denver Post. The Rookie of the Year runner-up hit .291 with 24 homers and 99 RBI last season.

Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado RockiesMonday 4/9, 8:34 AM CT
Troy Tulowitzki may lose a little time to Jamey Carroll going forward, the Denver Post reports. Tulowitzki is off to a .208 start with nine strikeouts in 24 at-bats. "I'm going to let his actions play out," manager Clint Hurdle said. "I think there are going to be spots where Carroll matches up a little better against some pitchers. But I want to continue to push (Tulowitzki) into some growth and some leadership out there."

"I was very nervous, things start coming to your mind, but as I calmed down everything fell into place," Tulowitzki said. "I am able to squeeze my hand pretty pain free. (Monday) will be a big day seeing how it feels throwing and taking some swings in the cages."
