Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 11/5, 9:25 AM CT
The Chicago White Sox have traded infielders Josh Fields and Chris Getz to Kansas City in exchange for Mark Teahen, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Be careful what you wish for Josh. Field requested a trade from the team earlier this season after being sent to the minors, and now he finds himself heading to Kansas City. 2009 was a year to forget for Fields, but maybe a change of scenery will allow him to fulfill his potential.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 7/29, 9:39 AM CT
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Josh Fields has told the White Sox he wants to be traded.

Our View: Fields was demoted to Triple-A after Tuesday's game, and feeling scored, has taken the Brian Anderson route. He apparently met with GM Kenny Williams and had a positive talk with him. Fields has been a disappointment this season hitting just .220/.301/.354 and looks like a different player than the rookie who popped 23 homers in 2007.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 7/23, 3:25 PM CT
Josh Fields hit a grand slam off Scott Kazmir in the second inning of Thursday's 5-0 win.

Our View: Fields' salami gave the White Sox and starter Mark Buehrle all the runs they would need en route to a perfect game against the Rays. The homer was Fields' first since June 30th.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 6/7, 11:29 AM CT
Josh Fields is in Chicago's lineup at DH for today's home game against the Indians, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Gordon Beckham will start at third base, with Jim Thome riding the pine against opposing lefty hurler David Huff. Fields is only hitting .244, but has pop in his bat and is worth consideration for AL-only leagues for today's game at launching pad U.S. Cellular Field.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 6/6, 6:14 PM CT
Josh Fields had a nice day at the plate on Saturday in the White Sox' 4-2 win over the Indians. Fields went 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored, and an RBI in the game.

Our View: Fields is making a case for playing time, and his home run today didn't hurt his cause. Still, it would appear as if Fields will lose at-bats to rookie Gordon Beckham, so fantasy owners should stay away from him.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 6/2, 2:32 PM CT
According to the Chicago Tribune, Josh Fields is not in the White Sox' lineup for their Tuesday night game against the A's. Fields will be replaced by Wilson Betemit at third base.

Our View: Fields has not been very good this season, and he should not be owned in any fantasy league at this point. However, he has turned it on a bit as of late, so he could be one to keep an eye on. Betemit has struggled a bit over the last few weeks, so don't expect this to be a regular occurrence.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 5/20, 5:33 PM CT
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen told the Chicago Tribune that Josh Fields "is next", referring to the next one to be benched because of his poor hitting.

Our View: Alexei Ramirez was the first to be benched because of his lackluster job at the plate, and it looks like Fields is next. His fantasy value is in the basement right now, but maybe a few days on the bench could turn him around.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 5/16, 10:09 AM CT
According to the Chicago Tribune, Josh Fields is back in the lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto.

Our View: Fields was apparently benched yesterday due to his increasing strikeout totals and the team felt he needed a day off to get his head straight. He's back and batting seventh today. Wait and see how he responds.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 5/12, 10:07 AM CT
According to MLB.com, Josh Fields said that his wrist is beginning to feel normal again. Fields has struggled since getting hit on the hand by a pitch, but he feels like he is getting better.

Our View: Fields has had some trouble since being hit, but the pain is almost gone. He should be back to normal in a few more days, but his fantasy value will not increase much when he does get back to 100 percent.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 5/5, 4:19 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that Josh Fields is in Tuesday's starting lineup.

Our View: Fields will hit second behind Carlos Quentin in Tuesday's contest. He has been dealing with a sore left wrist, but is up to snuff and should get some nice hacks in tonight against Royals' righty Kyle Davies.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 5/4, 4:10 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that Josh Fields will sit out Monday's game with a sore left wrist. He was hit in the wrist with a pitch in Sunday's game. Jayson Nix will start at third base in his place.

Our View: Fields could miss a few starts as he was drilled pretty good in the hand. He has not shown the power that we had hoped from him in an everyday situation. He is slugging only .360 with one home run through 86 at bats. We expect better numbers as temperatures begin to rise in Chicago.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 4/22, 9:02 PM CT
Josh Fields was on fire at the dish on Wednesday, going 3-for-5 with a home run, double, a run, and three RBI. It was his first home run of the season.

Our View: Fields is now hitting .286 on the year, and he has been a decent offensive contributor. He is only an option in AL-only leagues as of now, but his value could increase as the season wears on.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 4/15, 3:34 PM CT
Josh Fields tripled with one out in the first inning of Wednesday's game against the Tigers, but was stranded there after consecutive strikeouts of Carlos Quentin and Jim Thome. Fields finished the game 1-for-4.

Our View: There wasn't much offense for the Sox on Wednesday, and they squandered a chance to get the lead in the first when they stranded Fields. Josh has been quietly having a nice start to the season, so keep an eye on how he progresses over the next few weeks.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 4/10, 4:43 PM CT
According to the Chicago Tribune, White Sox third baseman Josh Fields has been moved up in the order and will hit second against the Twins in this weekend's series. He previously hit ninth.

Our View: Fields had a great spring and could be a fantasy up and comer. He's likely only starting in AL-only leagues now, but hitting second in the order should create more opportunities for him. Keep an eye on him as he may be a decent waiver wire pickup if he shines in his new role.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 3/27, 6:17 PM CT
Josh Fields was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI Friday. He raised his average to an impressive .440 on the spring.

Our View: Fields is having a fantastic spring, but so is Wilson Betemit. The two will slug it out over the next two weeks to see who gets the job. Fields could be considered a slight favorite.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 3/22, 8:27 PM CT
Josh Fields was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Sunday's 12-10 win over Oakland. He played all nine innings at third base, while making his third error of the spring, and hit seventh in the lineup.

Our View: Fields is hitting .415 this spring, but he may be destined to platoon with Wilson Betemit, who has five home runs and is hitting .333 this spring. Fields could have a breakout season, or merely settle into mediocrity.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 3/12, 5:56 PM CT
Josh Fields went 1-for-3 against Kansas City on Thursday, hitting his first home run of the spring.

Our View: Fields has looked fine in spring thus far, hitting 5-for-16 with three extra-base hits. With Joe Crede out of the picture in Chicago, Fields should provide fine power with consistent at-bats is definitely worth a late-round flier in most leagues.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 3/6, 7:04 PM CT
Josh Fields had three hits in five at-bats and two RBI Friday in a 10-3 Chicago win over Australia.

Our View: Fields should get plenty of opportunities to prove his worth at third base this season, especially with the departure of Joe Crede to Minnesota.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 2/5, 6:35 PM CT
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has picked Josh Fields as the key figure central to the team's success, according to MLB.com.

Our View: If Fields can be the player he was in 2007, he will prove to be a fantasy star and make his manager look good. If he cannot recover from his lost 2008 season, he will disappoint the White Sox brass and fantasy owners who drafted him.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 12/21, 10:24 PM CT
White Sox general manager Kenny Williams continues to feel positive about Josh Fields, even though the third baseman had a lost season in 2008. "The fact of the matter is, I have confidence in the players we're bringing back," Williams tells the Chicago Tribune. "Obviously, a couple of them had setbacks [in 2008]. But Josh Fields and Jerry Owens... I know the type of talent they possess. And I think they're going to be assets to us. It's that simple." The White Sox aren't expected to re-sign Joe Crede this winter.

Our View: Fields stumbled badly after he seized the starting role and showed big power over the second half of 2007. It's going to be a critical spring for Fields, who just turned 26 last week. We haven't forgotten about his power, and he'll be someone to watch closely this March if the White Sox don't sign someone else at third.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 11/26, 3:34 PM CT
Josh Fields, who underwent lateral release surgery (right knee), is healing on schedule, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: He is able to resume all baseball related activities. He will get a chance to roam third base in 2009, barring a setback.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 9/17, 9:40 AM CT
Josh Fields will undergo arthroscopic surgery in the fall to address nagging soreness in his right knee, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View: Fields was a disappointment offensively and defensively this season after a promising rookie campaign in 2007. If Fields is not traded, he will get another shot to man the hot corner in 2009 with Chicago, assuming his surgery will be successful.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 9/4, 8:21 AM CT
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen thinks young third baseman Josh Fields plays lousy defense, and he let it be known, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "[Fields has] got to be better. He has to. Unfortunately for him, his manager believes in defense," Guillen remarked.

Our View: Ouch. Not exactly a sign of confidence from Guillen, who said Fields needs to work diligently in the offseason to improve at the hot corner.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 9/2, 3:51 PM CT
Josh Fields has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Fields blasted 23 homers with the Sox last season, but struggled in the minors, and only hit .182 over 22 at-bats (no homers) with the club this season, and should stick with Crede at third base as long as he remains intact in September.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 8/7, 8:49 PM CT
Josh Fields has not started a game in the month of August, in part because of his poor defensive play, reports WhiteSox.com. "He is still working on it, but we need him to step it up and be better in the field," Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen said.

Our View: His play in the field has been poor, but his offense has not been spectacular either. He has just 22 at-bats, but he is hitting just .182 with no home runs. Stay away from him for now in fantasy leagues.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 7/31, 10:53 PM CT
White Sox third baseman Josh Fields struck out three times in three at-bats, and he was saved a potentially embarrassing accomplishment as Ozzie Guillen lifted him for a pinch hitter before his fourth AB.

Our View: The not-as-dirty-as-it-sounds feat is the Golden Sombrero, which is the term for when a baseball player strikes out four times in one game.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 7/25, 3:15 PM CT
Josh Fields has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, according to the AP. He was brought in to replace Joe Crede, who landed on the DL with back lumbar inflammation.

Our View: Fields possesses solid power as he blasted 23 homers over 100 games with Chicago last season. It is uncertain when Crede will be back, and Fields is worth targeting in mixed-leagues as he should get regular starts at third base.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 5/8, 9:32 AM CT
Josh Fields has been placed on the DL at Triple-A Charlotte, due to patella tendinitis, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Fields was batting .240 with four home runs and 14 RBI over 25 games for Charlotte. Joe Crede is healthy and playing well for the White Sox right now, and Fields wasn't going to be called up to push him for his spot at third base. Crede has registered eight homers and 28 RBI over 33 games.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 5/1, 7:04 AM CT
Josh Fields was pulled out of Wednesday's game against Triple-A Norfolk after seven innings as a precautionary measure and could be called up, according to the Chicago Tribune. Alexei Ramirez cannot travel with the team to Toronto, due to visa issues, for the upcoming series against the Jays that starts Friday, and Chicago would call up Fields for depth.

Our View: Fields has strong upside as he hit 23 homers over 100 games in 2007, but he isn't going to push Joe Crede for his spot at third base, as Crede is healthy and generated seven home runs and 22 RBI over 25 games this season.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 3/25, 4:23 PM CT
The White Sox optioned Josh Fields to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Chicago Tribune. That means that Joe Crede will be the starting third baseman for the Sox when the season begins. Fields hit just .244 last season but smacked 23 homers. It should only be a matter of time before Fields is back up with the club, especially if Crede can't figure out how to improve at the plate or if he does and gets dealt.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 3/19, 4:17 PM CT
Josh Fields left today's game after getting hit by a pitch on the left forearm, according to The Chicago Tribune. No further news is available. Fields is notably battling Joe Crede for the starting gig at third base.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 3/12, 9:57 PM CT
Josh Fields went 3-for-4 today in the White Sox's 4-1 win over the Rockies in Cactus League action. Fields is battling against Joe Crede for the spot at third base and thus far the spring has not been kind, especially at the plate where Fields has suffered through a rough slump. Coach Ozzie Guillen had stated Fields was his man of choice at the hot corner, but that was a month ago and the competition may have been more closely contested than we might have believed. Today's performance could be sign of better things to come.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 2/16, 9:47 AM CT
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has a depth chart established at third base, for the moment. "My third baseman right now, to be honest with you, is Josh Fields," Guillen tells the Chicago Sun-Times. "One reason: I don't know exactly where Joe Crede is healthwise. I don't know what Joe can do for me."
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 2/8, 6:18 AM CT
Josh Fields rejected a report that he told a group that he considered retiring from baseball after last season, according to the Chicago Tribune. "I said the struggles and ups and downs start to make you wonder if I’m in the right profession," Fields said. "I never said the word ‘retirement.’" Field added that he had a tough time dealing with the demands of professional sports. "However, I prayed about it and realized there is nowhere I could have more influence right now than in that clubhouse." If the White Sox ever trade Joe Crede, Fields should step in as the everyday third baseman, though he might begin this season in the minors if Crede remains on the roster.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 1/18, 10:13 AM CT
White Sox GM Ken Williams has said Josh Fields will either open the 2008 season as the club's starting third baseman, or he'll begin the year in the minors, according to the Chicago Tribune. At this point, it seems unlikely Fields would be sent back to the minors, so this likely means Joe Crede will be shipped off prior to the start of the season.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 9/20, 11:21 AM CT
Manager Ozzie Guillen has been impressed with Josh Fields' performance this year, but he's made it clear that the youngster has not yet claimed a starting job for 2008, according to the White Sox website. "It is not automatic that he will be there next year," Guillen said. Fields will need to improve his defense in left field in order to secure a starting job in 2008.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 8/26, 11:10 PM CT
The White Sox moved Josh Fields to left field on Sunday and he isn’t expected to return to the hot corner this year, according to the Associated Press. The team has been thinking about moving Fields to left field for a while now so they can get him and Joe Crede in the lineup together. This should give Fields eligibility at multiple positions entering next season.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 8/17, 8:39 AM CT
Josh Fields has played so well in his rookie season that the White Sox no longer have plans to move him to the outfield. “I think Josh needs to focus on third base,” general manager Ken Williams told the Chicago Sun-Times. “He has shown me that he obviously can hit here. I know it doesn’t seem that way because we’re used to Joe Crede. But watch 29 other teams, as well, and Josh handles himself well at third base.” Crede is expected to return next season after he recovers from back surgery.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 8/12, 6:10 AM CT
Josh Fields hit a grand slam off J.J. Putz Saturday, giving him three homers in the last two games and seven hits in his last 18 at-bats.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 8/9, 9:17 AM CT
Josh Fields has been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury since early this season, and he feels it's hampering his batting average and his running game. "I notice it on infield hits," Fields told the White Sox official website. "Last year, I was beating throws on grounders up the middle or deep in the hole, and I think that's why I hit .300." Fields hit .305 with 28 stolen bases at Triple-A Charlotte last year, but is at just .248 with one steal in the big leagues in 2007.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 6/6, 2:44 PM CT
Josh Fields has been called up by the White Sox, according to the team’s official website. He’ll take the roster spot of injured third baseman Joe Crede, who was placed on the disabled list in a corresponding move. Fields was hitting .283 with 10 homers and 37 RBI at Triple-A Charlotte and has already been dubbed an impact player by White Sox general manager Ken Williams.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 6/5, 9:20 AM CT
General Manager Ken Williams came away impressed with prospect Josh Fields after scouting the White Sox minor league system for a week. “I think if he was [in the big leagues] right now he would be an impact-type guy,” Williams told the Chicago Tribune. “We’re going to have to start exploring ways to try and get him up here.” Fields is hitting .279 with 10 homers and 36 RBI at Triple-A Charlotte.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 3/11, 7:15 AM CT
Since Josh Fields hasn't played in left field yet this spring, all signs point to him beginning the season at Triple-A Charlotte, according to the Chicago Tribune. The third base prospect is blocked by Joe Crede but has been practicing left field to increase his versatility.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 2/26, 8:54 AM CT
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said that third baseman Josh Fields will get "maybe 20 percent" of his work this spring in the outfield, according to the Chicago Tribune. That makes it less likely that Fields will break camp with the Sox. "My headache right now is a lot of outfielders," said Guillen.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 1/24, 10:00 AM CT
With Scott Podsednik expected to be sidelined for at least part of spring training, the White Sox plan give Josh Fields an extended look in left field in the spring, according to the Chicago Tribune. Fields, a third baseman, hit .305 with 19 homers, 70 RBI and 26 steals at Triple-A last year.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 9/10, 5:58 PM CT
The White Sox purchased the contract of third baseman Josh Fields from Triple-A Charlotte. Fields is one of the team's top prospects and was not originally expected to be called up. He hit .305 with 19 homers for Charlotte this season.
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 8/16, 12:19 PM CT
Manager Ozzie Guillen said that Josh Fields is not a sure September callup because the White Sox might not be able to give him any playing time, according to the official team website. "If [players are] going to come up, I want to use them," Guillen said. "I don't believe because you had a great year in Double-A or Triple-A, you should be in the big leagues. If you're not ready to play in the big leagues, you should be in the Minor Leagues or the instructional league."
Josh Fields, 3B, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 7/29, 8:36 AM CT
Josh Fields has been working out in the outfield at Triple-A Charlotte, but there's no plan to play him out there until next season, according to the Chicago Tribune. He's hitting .319 with 14 homers, 56 RBI and 19 steals at Triple-A, and the White Sox have stated that they won't include him in any trade before the deadline.
