Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 3/19, 2:19 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez had a solid day against the Cardinals on Friday, striking out four while allowing two runs in five innings of work.

Our View: He did walk two, but continued a trend of looking serviceable this spring. He's worth owning in NL-only leagues.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 3/14, 3:03 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez finally got in a solid spring outing on Sunday, striking out three Mets in four scoreless innings.

Our View: He did allow four baserunners, however. Still, Sanchez needed to show some results on Sunday to justify a possible inclusion in Florida's starting five, and that's exactly what he did.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 3/9, 5:30 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez had another poor spring outing on Tuesday, allowing five runs and three walks in just 2.1 innings of work against the Red Sox.

Our View: That's two lackluster appearances thus far for Sanchez his spring, and he's going to have to start cleaning up his outings soon unless he wants doubt to creep into Florida's mind about his readiness to be in the rotation this season.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 3/4, 3:30 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez had a mixed spring debut against the Nationals on Thursday, allowing three baserunners and one run in two innings, while also recording three punch-outs.

Our View: Sanchez just needs to have a competent spring to crack the Marlins rotation. Today was a good start.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 1/18, 5:43 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez has agreed to a one-year deal with the Marlins worth $1.25MM, according to Jon Morosi's (FOX Sports) twitter page. The deal includes $100,000 in bonuses.

Our View: Sanchez pitched well down the stretch last season, and will be hoping for continued success in 2010 while playing for a long-term deal.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 10/3, 6:55 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez was very sharp on Saturday, holding the Phillies to just one run on five hits and two walks over seven innings. He fanned three and improved to 4-8 with the 4-3 win.

Our View: Sanchez hasn't been able to stay healthy this season, but at least he finished strong. He was just 2-3 in the season's final month, but complied an ERA well under three and dropped his season mark to a dependable 3.87.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 9/28, 9:19 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez gave up three earned runs on two hits over five innings in Monday's 4-0 loss at Atlanta. He issued eight walks with four strikeouts.

Our View: Sanchez displayed poor control, evidenced by his eight walks. He was a disappointment after throwing eight scoreless innings against Philadelphia in his previous start.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 9/22, 9:44 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez pitched a gem against the Phillies in the second game of a doubleheader on Tuesday. He blanked one of the games most dangerous lineups for eight innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while fanning seven in the 3-0 win.

Our View: Tuesday's win was just Sanchez's third this season and it was the first time he managed to last eight innings all season. He has dominant stuff, but has a tough time maintaining his control and going deep into games.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 9/17, 9:35 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez allowed three runs in five innings on Thursday night, enough to spell defeat for the Marlins, as Cincinnati won 3-2 at home.

Our View: Sanchez has had another lost season in 2009, going 2-7 with a 4.50 ERA in an injury-shortened 13 start campaign. The dominating pitcher that looked possible after his no-hitter in 2006 may never emerge.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 9/12, 11:08 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez allowed just two runs in 4.2 innings on Saturday night, but also allowed ten baserunners. He ended up with a no-decision, as Florida beat the Nationals 11-3 at home.

Our View: Sanchez has been prone to short starts of late, and is not a good bet down the stretch.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/6, 4:09 PM CT
The Marlins spoiled Anibal Sanchez's first scoreless start since April 10 on Sunday, allowing five late runs to the Nationals en route to a 5-4 loss. Sanchez struck out five in six innings.

Our View: Sanchez has a 2.61 ERA in four starts since coming off of the disabled list on August 21, and is certainly worth a flier down the stretch.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 8/27, 3:42 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez did not fare as well in his second start off the DL, as he lasted just 3.2 innings in the 10-3 loss to the Mets.

Our View: Sanchez was dominant in his return to the rotation last week, but struggled mightily Thursday. He allowed eight hits and three walks en route to four runs (two earned) and his fifth loss of the season. His threw 82 pitches before being yanked prior to completing the fourth inning.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/22, 12:18 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez was sharp on Friday. He allowed one run on just two hits and two walks over six innings against the Braves, and fanned seven en route to his second win of the season.

Our View: Sanchez was dominant in his rehab starts and it looks like he carried that dominance to the Major League level. This was his first start since being activated from the DL and it went off without a hitch.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 8/20, 10:49 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez (shoulder) has been activated from the 60-day disabled list.

Our View: He will start against the Braves in a crucial game for the Marlins on Friday. He was dominant in his last few rehab starts, but just 1-4 with a 5.55 ERA in seven starts this season for the big club before getting hurt. He's not worth the risk until you've witnessed some major league results.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 8/13, 8:47 AM CT
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting that Marlins' pitcher Anibal Sanchez looked good on Wednesday is his first of two scheduled rehab starts for Double-A Jacksonville. Sanchez went seven innings and allowed one run on four hits while walking two and striking out three.

Our View: That's three very solid rehab starts in a row for Sanchez, and he is scheduled to make one more start on Monday before possibly being activated by the team. If these rehab starts are any indication, Sanchez will be ready to go when he returns, and he could definitely be worth a look, especially in NL-only formats.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 8/11, 12:50 PM CT
Following his 6.2 scoreless innings pitched on Friday, injured Marlins' starter Anibal Sanchez is scheduled to make another rehab start on Wednesday, this time for Double-A Jacksonville, according to MLB.com. Sanchez will be on a 90-pitch limit, and then will likely push it to 100 pitches in his next start.

Our View: Sanchez was excellent in his last start, and if he keeps dominating these rehab outings while staying healthy, he will be back with the big club soon. The team doesn't want to rush him back, but they can surely use him in the rotation if he is completely healthy.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/8, 8:14 PM CT
The Palm Beach Post reports that Anibal Sanchez tossed 6.2 innings of hitless ball for Class-A Jupiter on Friday night.

Our View: Sanchez, out with a sprained shoulder since June 4th, will make at least two starts with the Marlins' Double-A club before returning to the rotation. Friday's performance was obviously encouraging though and he could be back by August 21st.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 8/3, 3:03 PM CT
The Miami Herald is reporting that Marlins' starter Anibal Sanchez threw 3.2 innings in his rehab start for Class-A Jupiter on Sunday. Sanchez gave up one earned run on four hits in the outing.

Our View: Not a great performance for Sanchez, but it is still relatively early in his rehab. He is expected to need at least three more starts in the minors before he is ready to return to the Marlins, so don't look for him to be back for another couple of weeks.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/24, 8:34 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez is set to throw in a rehab game Tuesday in the Gulf Coast League, according to the Miami Herald. He has been recovering from a sprained right shoulder, and threw 45 pitches in a simulated game Thursday.

Our View: There remains no set timetable for his return to Florida, but could be back at some point in August.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 7/16, 6:54 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez will throw another bullpen session on Friday, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Sanchez is recovering from a right shoulder sprain, and still isn't expected back until mid-to-late August, depending on how his recovery goes. He currently isn't worth stashing or owning outside of keeper leagues.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 7/7, 11:00 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that injured Marlins' starter Anibal Sanchez is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Tuesday. Sanchez has been on the DL since June 4 with right shoulder soreness.

Our View: The Marlins still don't know when Sanchez will be able to return, but the fact that he is throwing is encouraging. Don't expect to see him for at least a few weeks, and it could be longer than that.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 7/3, 4:17 PM CT
According to MLBlogs.com, injured starter Anibal Sanchez will throw a light bullpen session on Saturday to test his ailing shoulder.

Our View: Sanchez has been on the DL since June 4th and the Marlins have no idea when he'll be game ready. Not only is he progressing slowly, but the Marlins are likely being very careful with the injury-prone starter.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 6/11, 11:53 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez (shoulder discomfort) will be out longer than expected according to MLB.com.

Our View: He has had two separate DL stints this season, and it is beginning to look like he could be headed for a lost season. Sanchez is tremendously talented, but rarely healthy, and often ineffective when in the rotation. He is probably not even worth a DL spot at this point.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 6/4, 10:11 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez has landed on the 15-day DL due to shoulder discomfort, according to the Associated Press. Cristhian Martinez will be recalled from Double-A Jacksonville to take his spot on the roster.

Our View: This will mark Sanchez's second trip to the DL this season. Skipper Fredi Gonzalez anticipates promoting Ricky Nolasco to take Sanchez's next scheduled turn in the rotation Sunday against the Giants.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 6/3, 5:24 PM CT
The Miami Herald reports that Anibal Sanchez will be allowed to throw 85-95 pitches in his next start on Sunday. He allowed just one run in three innings (71 pitches) against the Brewers on Tuesday.

Our View: Sanchez's control was still a bit off in his first start since returning from a sprained shoulder. He walked three batters in three innings. He still has value in NL-only leagues, despite being hit hard in his previous three starts.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/1, 4:23 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez, who has been recovering from a sprained right shoulder, is expected to return to the Marlins to start Tuesday's game against the Brewers, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Fantasy owners in deeper leagues should be pleased to get the young hurler back, but Sanchez will be an unstable option upon his return, as he lost his last four starts with a 7.89 ERA prior to going down.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 5/28, 8:29 PM CT
The Sun-Sentinel is reporting that Anibal Sanchez threw three shutout innings for Single-A Jupiter on Thursday. Sanchez surrendered three hits and struck out four, but his start was cut short by a lengthy rain delay. He is recovering from a sprained right shoulder.

Our View: It was thought that Sanchez would make his next start on June 2, but since his rehab start got cut short tonight, that may not happen. We will keep you updated on his status, but don't be surprised if he requires another rehab start.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 5/26, 12:03 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez threw 55 pitches during a simulated game on Sunday, according to the Sun-Sentinel. He is recovering from a sprained right shoulder.

Our View: He could return to the Marlins' rotation as early as June 2. He should make a rehab start with Single-A Jupiter this week.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 5/19, 12:17 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez is slated for a pen session Tuesday, according to the Sun-Sentinel. He is on the DL while recovering from a sprained right shoulder.

Our View: If he fares fine, he could throw a simulated game this weekend. There is belief he could return to Florida in around two weeks.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 5/8, 7:21 PM CT
According to the Palm Beach Post, injured starter Anibal Sanchez will be out for about two months with a shoulder issue.

Our View: No one has been named yet to fill the void left by Sanchez, but Burke Badenhop is currently the most likely candidate.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 5/8, 3:08 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez has been placed on the 15-day DL with a strained right shoulder, according to ESPN. Infielder Chris Coghlan was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans as the adjoining move.

Our View: Burke Badenhop is a candidate to replace Sanchez in the rotation, but the club is yet to make a decision. Sanchez underwent shoulder surgery in 2007, so he will be closely monitored by the Marlins.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 5/7, 12:26 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez left his Thursday start in the fifth inning with a shoulder injury.

Our View: Although it's not clear at this point what exactly is wrong with Anibal, this is not good news for his owners considering that he has already come back from shoulder surgery. We'll update you when when get more info.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 4/16, 2:04 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez scattered eight hits and a walk over six innings while allowing two runs to the Braves in a 6-2 win on Thursday. He sruck out two in the outing.

Our View: Just as he did in his last game, Sanchez allowed a lot of base runners. However, he was able to escape trouble more often than not on the day. His strikeout rate was below average today, but we suspect that will come around in due time.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 4/10, 10:18 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez was in trouble often, but found a way to emerge unscathed. He scattered four hits and three walks over five innings and did not allow a run. He struck out five as the Marlins topped the Mets 5-4 on Friday.

Our View: Sanchez lived up to his billing of a high WHIP, but a strong K-rate. The Marlins are counting on him to be a solid contributor this year, but he'll have to cut down on the walks if he's going to be effective in the long run. He won't always be able to work out of these jams.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 4/4, 6:17 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez tossed three shutout innings in Saturday's 1-1 tie with the Blue Jays. The Marlins' fourth starter allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one.

Our View: Sanchez wrapped up the spring in a respectable fashion. The biggest barrier between him and fantasy relevance will be the durability of his shoulder followed closely by the ability to limit his walks.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 4/2, 12:24 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez has been named the fourth starter in the Marlins' rotation, according to MLB-Blogs.com.

Our View: Sanchez was a rising star prior to being hindered by shoulder problems. He is worth a look as a flier in case he can stay healthy this season. He fired 50 strikeouts over 51.2 innings in 2008.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 4/1, 12:35 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez was strong in his start on Tuesday, allowing one earned run over six innings and scattering six hits and two walks. He was tagged with the loss though, as his defense let him down.

Our View: The two walks were a plus for Sanchez Tuesday as he's had control issues throughout his career. If he can lock that down he'll be a solid fantasy starter. Wait for it though. Don't go rushing in.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 3/25, 9:56 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez will start Thursday's game against the Orioles, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Sanchez is a rising star, but needs to improve his control before he can be counted on as a starting fantasy hurler. Draft him as a flier for mixed leagues.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 3/21, 6:01 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez allowed three runs (two earned) in 5.2 innings on Saturday. He allowed five hits and a walk and struck out two.

Our View: Sanchez has good stuff and big things are expected from him, but he'll have to improve dramatically on last year's 5.57 ERA and show more durability if he's going to make a fantasy impact. Still, he's only 25.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 3/1, 4:34 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez made a strong start in his second time out on Sunday, pitching three innings while allowing just one run off of five hits. He didn't walk anyone while he struck out one batter.

Our View: Sanchez didn't have a very good year in 2008, going just 2-5 in 10 starts with a 5.57 ERA. He just turned 25 at the end of February, so he still has time to mature into a strong starter.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 2/25, 4:29 PM CT
MLB.com reports that reports that starter Anibal Sanchez had shaky control throughout his two innings of work on Monday. He gave up three hits and walked three batters, but only allowed one unearned run.

Our View: Sanchez walked 3.9 batters per nine inningslast season and 4.9 in 2007. Control will be his biggest issue this spring, and he's probably not worth selecting unless he shows some improvement.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 2/25, 7:04 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez, who struggled after returning from shoulder surgery last season, has altered his pitching mechanics, according to the Miami Herald. He threw a no-hitter as a rookie in 2006 and he said, "I want to be back to that. My shoulder is more loose than last year and my command is better."

Our View: The 25-year-old is worth targeting as a flier, and should at least be a solid source for strikeouts.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 1/21, 6:45 PM CT
Contradicting a report from Tuesday, Anibal Sanchez won't be blocked by the Marlins from playing in the World Baseball Classic, MLB.com reported on Wednesday.

Our View: Sanchez is expected to be in Florida's rotation for 2009, so the team is worried about injuries which were a problem following the 2007 Classic. One example of this issue was how Pedro Martinez's career has gone downhill since competing in the previous Classic.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 1/20, 9:44 AM CT
The Marlins won't allow Anibal Sanchez to represent Venezuela in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Marlins project Sanchez to be in their starting rotation and want him fresh for spring training, so he won't be joining Carlos Zambrano and Johan Santana on Team Venezuela.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 12/12, 8:32 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez has been shut down after only two starts in the Venezuelan Winter League, according to the Sun-Sentinel. President of Baseball Operations Larry Beinfest said, "We really didn't want him to pitch in the first place."

Our View: He registered a poor 11.37 ERA over the two starts, allowing 15 hits and eight earned runs over 6.1 innings without any strikeouts. This is not encouraging as he held a 1.57 WHIP over 51.2 innings with the Marlins in 2008.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 9/25, 8:48 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez's start against the Nationals on Thursday was cancelled. The game will not be made up and it's not certain if he will start tomorrow.

Our View: Through 10 starts in 2008, Sanchez has not performed up to expectations. He is 2-5 with a 5.57 ERA. He does have 50 strikeouts in 51.2 innings pitched.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 9/20, 8:18 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez was forced out of Saturday's game against the Phillies in the sixth inning due to a cramp in his right hamstring, according to the AP.

Our View: Sanchez threw 95 pitches prior to his exit. We will keep you posted on his status.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSunday 9/14, 8:41 AM CT
Sanchez says that his recent struggles are due to mechanical flaws, the Miami Herald reports. He has allowed 15 earned runs over his last three starts.

Our View: Sanchez has been working to correct the problems, and facing the anemic Nationals offense could help. Still, he is probably best left on your bench until he proves that he has put his issues behind him.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 9/10, 10:18 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez will still make his next start in the rotation, despite how badly he has performed lately, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: Sanchez has been flat-out awful recently, having allowed 15 earned runs in his last three starts covering 9.2 innings. It is not wise to have him starting for your fantasy squad.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 9/2, 11:04 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez has had a rough go of it since returning from the DL, and Tuesday was a prime example, as he surrendered six runs in just three innings to the Braves.

Our View: Sanchez has not been very good since his return from shoulder surgery. He has given up 14 runs in his last 14.1 innings.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 9/1, 6:42 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez will face the Brewers on Tuesday as he continues his recovery from shoulder surgery , according to the Marlins Official Website. "I want to finish strong and have that carry over for a good season next year."

Our View: Sanchez is 2-3 with a 4.46 ERA and 1.49 WHIP this season in six starts as he continues to search for the form that led to a 10-3 record, 2.83 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 2006.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/16, 9:57 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez improved to 2-2 with an effective performance against the Cubs on Saturday. He allowed three hits and one run over 5.1 innings. Sanchez walked five and struck out six.

Our View: It wasn't the cleanest performance, but the Marlins will take it. Sanchez has looked pretty good in four starts since coming back from right shoulder surgery. The walks are a bit troublesome, but fantasy owners should be able to trust him in matchups against weaker opponents.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 8/11, 9:50 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez had a quality start on Monday allowing three runs in seven innings to the Cardinals but he still lost and fell to 1-2.

Our View: Sanchez struck out eight and only walked two and has allowed eight runs in his three starts (4.08). Anibal also has 14 K and seven walks, so he has done a solid job of throwing strikes leading to an average WHIP (1.36).
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 8/6, 8:49 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez looked rusty in his second start back from the DL Wednesday, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out two.

Our View: Sanchez, who is coming back from Tommy John surgery, will have a few of these types of outings while he regains his command. He should not be used as a mixed league option right now.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 7/31, 10:16 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez threw well in his first game of the season after coming back from Tommy John surgery. He threw 5.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits while striking out four against the Rockies.

Our View: Sanchez could be a late season asset for fantasy owners, especially those in NL-only leagues.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 7/31, 10:08 AM CT
The Marlins activated Anibal Sanchez from the DL Thursday. Sanchez, who is coming back from Tommy John surgery, will start for the Fish tonight.

Our View: This will be Sanchez's first outing since last May. He did well in five rehab starts, posting a 2.89 ERA.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 7/28, 5:41 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that Anibal Sanchez will start for the first time in 15 months on Thursday against the Rockies. Sanchez won 10 games and threw a no-hitter as a rookie in 2006, then missed most of last season because of a shoulder injury that required surgery in June 2007.

Our View: Sanchez has plenty of confidence as he has said that the Marlins will now make the playoffs. He went 10-3 in 2006 with an ERA of 2.83 and a no-hitter against Arizona in his 13th major league start. He made only six starts last year before being sidelined. Sanchez consistently topped 90 mph with his fastball in rehabilitation starts, including his most recent outing for Double-A Carolina last Thursday, when he threw 101 pitches in seven innings. He may be worth a gamble if you are desperate for pitching.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 7/22, 11:10 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez, who is recovering from right shoulder surgery, had his next rehab start pushed back one day to Thursday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: He did not suffer a setback and the club just wants to give him an extra day of rest. That would put him on track to likely join the Marlins and pitch against the Mets on July 29.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 7/19, 3:12 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez will make one more rehab start on next Wednesday for Class AA Carolina, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: Sanchez has looked good in his rehab assignment and could be back by July 28.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 7/8, 11:38 PM CT
After throwing 4.1 innings in Jupiter's 5-4 win, Sanchez said he's on track to rejoin the Marlins' rotation by July 28, according to the Palm Beach Post. He allowed two runs on four hits, throwing 49 of his 70 pitches for strikes. He struck out three and walked two. His velocity ranged from 88 to 93. Sanchez, whose rehab stint started last Thursday when he allowed two runs in five innings in a Gulf Coast League game, said he will start again for the Hammerheads on Sunday in Fort Myers. He said that will be followed by at least two starts for Class AA Carolina.

Our View: Sanchez is recovering rotator cuff surgery. His rehab was delayed sue to the tragic death of his son.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 7/5, 7:35 PM CT
Anibal Sanchez continues to rehab from right shoulder surgery, and he is progressing well, according to the Palm Beach Post. Sanchez's next start will be at Single-A on Tuesday, and he is on schedule to return to the majors on August 1st.

Our View: If the Marlins continue to hang around the playoff chase, Sanchez could serve in the same capacity as a trade deadline deal in adding another arm to the staff. Continue to monitor his progress.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsWednesday 6/18, 9:01 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez threw a simulated game on Tuesday, MLB.com reports. The right-hander is recovering from right shoulder surgery and won't be ready until August, at the earliest.

Our View: Sanchez, 24, still has a bright (albeit slightly dimmer than it once was) future in the majors, but fantasy owners shouldn't expect anything this year. His only value is in keeper leagues.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/3, 9:51 AM CT
The Marlins report RHP Anibal Sanchez successfully completed a bullpen session on Friday at Dolphin Stadium, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Sanchez has been on the DL all season long with shoulder issues, but the team reports his second bullpen outing of the week has led to hopes that Sanchez, orginally believed to be out until the All-Star break, could be facing batters before the end of the month. The Marlins remain cautious and still assert their desire to wait until the second half of the season for return, but this is a good sign.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsSaturday 2/23, 8:51 AM CT
As expected, Anibal Sanchez resumed his throwing program Friday after taking 10 days off to rest his surgically repaired shoulder, according to the South Florida Sun-Times. Sanchez is not expected to be ready for game action until after the All-Star break.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 2/19, 11:01 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez, who made just six starts last year before having shoulder surgery, will resume his throwing program on Friday. He was shut down last week after complaining of discomfort. Sanchez visited Dr. James Andrews, who told the righty that the soreness was normal. "There are worse things in life than this," Sanchez said in the Sun-Sentinel. "[Andrews] put me at ease. He told me it was nothing, part of the recovery process." Sanchez is hoping to return to the Marlins by midseason.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsMonday 2/18, 10:49 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez, who was scheduled to be a part of the Florida Marlins' starting rotation before mid-season, shut down his throwing program after complaining of discomfort, notes the Miami Herald. "It's not frustrating,'' Sanchez said. ``It's depressing.'' Sanchez said Doctor "Doom" Andrews did not discover any new damage, but the pitcher will take a step back in his rehab and make a new plan.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsFriday 2/8, 7:04 AM CT
Anibal Sanchez will have his surgically repaired right shoulder examined by Dr. James Andrews on Monday, at which time he hopes to have a better idea of when he might be ready for game action, according to the Miami Herald. "Maybe by the All-Star break," Sanchez said Thursday. "I feel good so far, but I'm taking it really, really slow." He's been testing the joint by throwing from 90 feet every other day, but he hopes to be cleared to step up his rehab following Monday's exam. He had a torn labrum repaired in the shoulder in June.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 7/31, 11:27 AM CT
The MLB players union filed a grievance against the Marlins on Monday on the behalf of Anibal Sanchez . The right-hander is upset that he was sent to the minors in early May before being sidelined with a sore shoulder and eventually needing surgery. Sanchez is arguing that the Marlins knew he was hurt and that the move cost him major league benefits, the Palm Beach Post reports. He is not expected to be ready for the start of the 2008 season after having a torn labrum repaired last month.
Anibal Sanchez, P, Florida MarlinsThursday 6/21, 9:10 PM CT
