Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 2/25, 8:25 AM CT
The Red Sox have internally discussed moving Dustin Pedroia from No. 2 to No. 5 in their lineup, according to the Boston Herald.

Our View: Pedroia certainly has the ability to man the No. 5 spot, and either J.D. Drew or Marco Scutaro would seem to be a decent candidate for the No. 2 spot. For now, however, we'd expect things to remain as they have been. Even if Pedroia does happen to move to No. 5, his fantasy value would remain unchanged, as an increase in RBI opportunities would be negated by a few less chances to score runs.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 12/1, 10:03 AM CT
According to Peter Gammons of ESPN, former-MVP second baseman Dustin Pedroia may switch positions to shortstop in 2010.

Our View: The Sox first proposed the question, but Pedroia is now deadly serious about making the transition. The move would obviously solve Boston's much-discussed shortstop woes, and also allow them to sign a free agent second baseman, a crop of which is much deeper than this year's free agent shortstops. Orlando Hudson and Marco Scutaro are possibilities. In 184 career minor league games at shortstop, Pedroia made just seven errors.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSunday 9/13, 2:50 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia led the way for the Red Sox on Sunday as Boston defeated the Rays 3-1. Pedroia went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI.

Our View: Pedroia has been getting hot with the long ball as of late, and he remains a solid fantasy second baseman. The former MVP should contine to produce all season in the talented Sox lineup.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 9/8, 9:04 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia paced the Red Sox to a 10-0 rout over the Orioles on Tuesday night, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI.

Our View: It was Pedroia's first multi-home run game of the season. He most recently accomplished the feat in game two of the ALCS last year.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSaturday 8/29, 9:59 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia had his fifth three-hit game of the month on Saturday, raising his average back above .300, and pacing Boston to a 3-2 win over Toronto at home.

Our View: Pedroia is no threat to repeat as the AL's MVP this season, but still has a respectable triple crown line of .302/10/56.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 8/24, 10:18 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia helped carry Boston in tonight's 12-8 win over Chicago at Fenway Park, as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI. He hit a single and two doubles, and also swiped a base.

Our View: Pedroia raised his batting average to .303, and has a hit in six straight games, with five RBI over the span. He leads the Sox with 40 doubles.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 8/20, 3:45 PM CT
According to the Boston Globe, Dustin Pedroia is back in the lineup for Thursday's game.

Our View: Pedroia missed two games to be with his wife after the birth of their first child, and it was unknown if he would make it back for tonight's finale against the Blue Jays. Looks like everything went well. He's in the lineup hitting second.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 8/19, 1:30 PM CT
Reigning AL MVP Dustin Pedroia will miss a second straight game on Wednesday to be with his wife after the birth of their first child, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Pedroia could rejoin the team tomorrow, but manager Terry Francona said he is not certain if he will. We will keep you updated, and offer our congratulations to Dustin and his wife Kelly.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 8/18, 2:56 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia will not be in the Red Sox's lineup on Tuesday, according to the Providence Journal. Pedroia is heading back to Boston to be with his wife for the birth of the couple's first child.

Our View: Those in daily leagues will want to get Pedroia out today if you have a replacement, and check back later for an update on his status for the next few days. We will update his status for tomorrow's game when the news is released.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 8/13, 11:40 AM CT
Dustin Pedroia will not be in the Red Sox's lineup for their Thursday afternoon game against the Tigers. He will be replaced by Chris Woodward at second base.

Our View: Pedroia never likes to sit out, but with the team heading to Texas tomorrow, he felt like today would be a good day to sit. He will be back in the lineup tomorrow, and he won't sit out much the rest of the season.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 8/10, 9:51 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia led the Sox in tonight's 6-5 win over Detroit at Fenway Park, as he went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer off Edwin Jackson.

Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 8/6, 10:25 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia led the way for the Red Sox' offense on Thursday, but it wasn't nearly enough as his team fell to the Yankees by a score of 13-6. Pedroia went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, a run scored, and two RBI in the game.

Our View: Pedroia launched a third inning home run to the opposite field to give the Sox a lead, but not much went right after that. His numbers are improving, and he has his average up to .306. He won't win the MVP this season, but he is still having a nice year.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 7/27, 9:22 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI against Oakland on Monday.

Our View: The home run was Pedroia's third this month, and hopefully he can continue to hit a few balls out of the park as he looks to improve his numbers over the second half of the season.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 7/15, 12:33 PM CT
According to WEEI.com, Manager Terry Francona stated that he thinks Dustin Pedroia will return to action this weekend in Toronto.

Our View: Pedroia skipped the All Star game and all corresponding festivities due to complications with his pregnant wife. However, she and the baby are doing much better and last year's MVP should be fine to employ in fantasy lineups on Friday.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSunday 7/12, 4:34 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Boston's 6-0 win over the Royals on Sunday.

Our View: Pedroia hit his 30th double in Sunday's contest and now has eight two baggers this month. That matches his highest monthly total this season and it's only July 12th. The diminutive reigning AL MVP hasn't been knocking the ball out of the park (four homers), but he's still driving it, as referenced by his doubles total. He loves that monster.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxFriday 7/10, 9:32 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 1-for-4 with a double, and recorded Boston's lone RBI in tonight's 1-0 win over the Royals at Fenway Park.

Our View: The reigning AL MVP has a hit in five straight games, with four RBI. He is hitting much better this month, after holding a dismal .222 average over 108 at-bats in June.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 7/8, 7:57 PM CT
According to Peter Gammons' Twitter account, Dustin Pedroia may skip the All Star Game to be with his pregnant wife.

Our View: Complications arose with his wife's pregnancy and already caused Pedroia to miss a game this week. If he does bow out of the mid-summer classic, Ian Kinsler would make sense as a replacement.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 7/7, 4:04 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia is ready to return to action tonight after missing Monday's game to attend to his pregnant wife, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Pedroia should be fine to pencil into lineups tonight against Oakland.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 7/6, 10:34 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, it has been disclosed that Dustin Pedroia was scratched from Monday's game to attend to his pregnant wife, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View: Skipper Terry Francona noted that he is uncertain if Pedroia will return for Tuesday's game. Francona wants him to focus strictly on his wife while awaiting the birth of the couple's first child.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 7/6, 5:50 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia has been scratched from Monday's lineup to attend to a family matter, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View: Details regarding his family matter were not disclosed, and it is uncertain how much time Pedroia may need to miss. Nick Green will cover second base in his absence tonight.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 6/17, 9:47 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two stolen bases tonight as the Red Sox defeated the Marlins 6-1. His average is now back up to .302.

Our View: The reigning AL MVP is 5-for-10 since getting two days off to rest. Apparently, the move is paying off. His slugging percentage is far below what it was a season ago, and it will be a stretch for him to reach those MVP power numbers this season.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 6/15, 11:50 AM CT
In the midst of a 4-for-36 slump, Dustin Pedroia was given the day off on Sunday, according to MLB.com. The team is off on Monday, but he will be back in the lineup when the team resumes play on Tuesday. "I'm just beat up a little bit," said Pedroia. "My legs feel heavy."

Our View: We don't expect Pedroia to slump for much longer. He's still hitting .293 and there's a very good chance he finishes well above .300 once again. He has 19 extra base hits and 35 walks compared to just 17 strikeouts.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSaturday 5/30, 5:31 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia was struck by a pitch on the left knee in the fifth inning of today's battle against Toronto, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View: Pedroia has some swelling, but the reigning AL MVP expects to return to the diamond Sunday. He is not concerned with the ailment, and does not believe it will linger.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 5/27, 8:46 AM CT
Dustin Pedroia is riding a nine-game hitting streak, according to the Boston Globe. He has 15 total hits over the span, with seven runs scored.

Our View: He will look to extend the streak to 10 tonight at Minnesota. The reigning AL MVP holds a .405 average over 74 career at-bats against the Twins.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 5/26, 10:34 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-4 on Tuesday in the Red Sox' 5-2 loss to the Twins. Pedroia had a double and an RBI in the game.

Our View: Pedroia isn't tearing up the stat sheet, but he is still a very quality hitter who can contribute in several different cotegories. He isn't a fantasy MVP, but he is still an above average player.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 5/14, 7:27 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 4-for-6 on Thursday with a run and an RBI in the Red Sox 12 inning loss to the Angels on Thursday.

Our View: Pedroia is a hitting machine, and he has shown this season that last year was no fluke. He may not be hitting for much power, but his average is .336 and he has scored 30 runs.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 5/14, 1:44 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia is penciled into Thursday's lineup at second base against the Angels, according to the Boston Globe. He has been nursing a strained groin.

Our View: Pedroia is a career .312 hitter against the Angels over 93 at-bats, and should be safe to employ in fantasy lineups.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 5/13, 2:22 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia is expected to be held out of tonight's lineup against the Angels while still nursing a strained groin.

Our View: He missed Tuesday's game as well, and manager Terry Francona previously mentioned that Pedroia will be back in the lineup as soon as he can. The reigning AL MVP shall remain held out of fantasy lineups.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 5/11, 8:26 AM CT
Dustin Pedroia commented on his strained groin injury sustained in Sunday's battle with the Rays, according to the Boston Globe. Pedroia said, "I am all right. Kind of been playing with this for about a week and a half. Just took a swing and my cleat kind of got caught in the ground. Hurt pretty good. Day off tomorrow will be nice."

Our View: The reigning AL MVP indicated that skipper Terry Francona will not let him return to the diamond Tuesday, and they will go from there. He will be back as soon as he can, and Wednesday is a possibility.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSunday 5/10, 8:44 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia left Sunday night's game against the Rays with a strained groin. Manager Terry Francona said the ailment began bothering him last week.

Our View: No word how severe the injury is, but the Sox do have tomorrow off which will allow him some rest. If you have a good backup option, it would be safer to play him this week than Pedroia. However, there's a possibility the reigning MVP does not miss any action.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 5/7, 9:16 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored as Boston won 13-3 over Cleveland on Thursday.

Our View: Pedroia had only one RBI in his last 11 games, so his three tonight were a very welcome sight for his fantasy owners. He has 11 RBI to 27 runs scored through 28 games.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 4/28, 11:41 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia had a typical Dustin Pedroia game on Tuesday. He was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base, but the Red Sox' bullpen collapsed and they fell to the Indians 9-8 to end their 11-game winning streak.

Our View: Last year's AL MVP has now raised his average to .309 and is putting together the numbers that fantasy owners expected after he got off to a rough start. He should continue to produce and the weather and his bat heat up.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 4/20, 1:35 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia had a big day at the dish on Monday, going 4-for-6 with a double, three runs, and three RBI to lead the Red Sox to a 12-1 victory over the Orioles. Pedroia upped his average to .281 on the season.

Our View: Last year's MVP has been off to a rough start in 2009, but he showed today why he is considered one of the top hitters in the game. He raised his average nearly 50 points, so don't expect him to hit much under .300 for long.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 4/7, 6:22 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia hit a home run in his first at-bat of the season Tuesday as the Red Sox beat the Rays 5-3 at Fenway Park.

Obviously they are going to have a great team all year and we feel we are going to have the same. It is going to be one of 18 games we play against them, so I think everyone is going to be ready. It will be a good game."

Our View: Pedroia is the reigning AL MVP, and will be looking to make a statement against the defending AL champs.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 3/25, 2:47 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 1-for-3 with a single in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Reds.

Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSunday 3/22, 4:42 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-3 with a double in Sunday's 3-0 win over Philadelphia.

Our View: Pedroia has looked sharp since recovering from a pulled muscle in his side. He has five hits in his first 12 at-bats this spring.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 3/19, 11:50 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Dustin Pedroia will return to the Red Sox lineup on Friday. He has been dealing with a pulled muscle in his abdomen.

Our View: The Red Sox are not a very healthy unit at this point, but this is certainly a big step in the right direction. Initially, it was feared that Pedroia had a more serious oblique injury, but it appears that he will be ready to suit up and be 100 percent for opening day.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 3/17, 9:25 AM CT
Dustin Pedroia is fielding grounders this morning, and reportedly looked comfortable, according to the Providence Journal. He also took around 30 swings in drills, and did not show signs that he is dealing with an abdominal ailment.

Our View: He is expected to take live batting practice Thursday, and could return to game action this weekend, barring a setback.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 3/16, 1:57 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Dustin Pedroia is receiving treatment on his lower left abdominal injury today, and he is expected to take batting practice Thursday, according to the Providence Journal. Skipper Terry Francona said, "He showed up today, they kept him off the field. He is kind of chomping at the bit. He is feeling better. Tomorrow they will start letting him do some soft toss."

Our View: His ailment is not serious, and it looks to be safe to draft him as a top second basemen.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 3/16, 8:05 AM CT
Dustin Pedroia has a strained abdominal muscle, and not a strained oblique as was initially feared, according to USA Today. Skipper Terry Francona said, "We will treat it for a couple of days, for whatever he needs, and slowly get him back in. But the good news is it is not an oblique. So we are really relieved about that."

Our View: He is expected to miss only a few days, and should be fine to target as a No. 1 second baseman in fantasy drafts.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSunday 3/15, 8:30 AM CT
Second baseman Dustin Pedroia will miss the remainder of the World Baseball Classic with a strained muscle on his left side, the Associated Press reports.

Our View: Pedroia was diagnosed with a minor strain of his lower left abdominal area. While the injury is not considered serious, the 2008 AL MVP will leave Team USA and rejoin the Red Sox at spring training beginning on Sunday.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 2/25, 9:00 PM CT

Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 1/26, 11:30 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia's older brother Brett is facing child molestation charges, according to the Associated Press. The crimes allegedly occurred four years ago, but the authorities were just recently informed when the victim told his parents.

Our View: Hopefully this won't be too much of a distraction for Dustin Pedroia, as he's coming off a fantastic season in which he won the AL MVP.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 12/15, 5:53 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia, the American League's Most Valuable Player in 2008, accepted an invitation to suit up for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The U.S. has not announced its preliminary roster yet. It certainly doesn't qualify as a surprise that Pedroia was given an invitation, given the success he's had in his first two seasons.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 12/3, 11:41 AM CT
Red Sox second baseman and American League MVP Dustin Pedroia has signed a contract extension that cover six years and will be worth $40.5 million, according to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.

Our View: Pedroia had a fantastic year in 2008. It is becoming common for teams to sign players to extensions before they reach arbitration, as is the case with Pedroia, who would not have been eligible for arbitration until after next year.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 11/18, 1:10 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia has been named the AL Most Valuable Player for 2008, according to MLB.com. Pedroia earned the honor by batting .326 with 118 runs scored, 54 doubles, 17 homers, 83 RBI, and 20 stolen bases. He only struck out 52 times over 653 at-bats.

Our View: He was chosen over first baseman Justin Morneau, teammate Kevin Youkilis, Rangers' outfielder Josh Hamilton and Angels' closer Francisco Rodriguez, who set an MLB record with 62 saves.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 11/13, 5:14 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia won his first Silver Slugger award on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Pedroia is considered one of the favorites for the AL MVP, which will be announced on Tuesday. Pedroia had a breakout season for the Red Sox, improving in nearly every offensive category.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSunday 10/12, 12:38 AM CT
Second baseman Dustin Pedroia hit two homers and scored four runs in the Game 2 ALCS loss to the Rays. He went 3-for-5 with a walk and two RBI.

Our View: Pedroia had his best night of the postseason, but it was all for nothing. It's obviously good for the Red Sox that he is swinging well, though.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 10/6, 11:20 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia broke a 19 AB playoff hitless streak with a double in four trips to the plate in Game 4.

Our View: Given that Pedroia had just one hit in four games and the Red Sox still moved on one would have to think Sox fans are feeling pretty good about their chances in what figures to be a heated playoff series with the Rays.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSunday 10/5, 11:57 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 0-for-5 on Sunday night and is now, amazingly, 0-for-13 through three games.

Our View: Pedroia hit the ball hard on this night, but the ball just kept finding Angels gloves. The second leading hitter in the American League during the regular season (.326) will eventually turn this slump around, you can bet on it.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 9/24, 8:20 AM CT
Dustin Pedroia hit his 53rd double Tuesday against Cleveland and tied the legendary Tris Speaker (1912) for third in Red Sox history, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Pedroia has also scored 117 runs, with 17 homers, 82 RBI, and 19 stolen bases, while maintaining a .324 average. The 25-year-old has established himself as a top-5 fantasy second baseman.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSunday 9/21, 5:56 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia went 1-for-3 with an RBI, but his stolen base, the 19th of the year, allowed the Red Sox to reach 117 steals on the year, their most since 1917, according to The Providence Journal.

Our View: Besides hitting .324 with 116 runs, Pedroia is 19-for-20 on the bases, and with one more steal he would give the Sox their first trio of 20 stolen base performers in one season since 1914 (Jacoby Ellsbury has 49, Coco Crisp has 20).
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 9/10, 11:35 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia and the MVP train continue to roll right along as he had another two hits and an RBI for the Sox in their 14 inning loss to the Rays on Wednesday night.

Our View: With this effort Pedroia is hitting .361 in September, this after .374 in August, .350 in July and .356 in June. To say he is locked in wouldn't do justice to the type of run he is on.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxThursday 9/4, 6:01 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia has been so hot of late that he is now being considered as a candidate for the AL MVP honor, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Pedroia is hitting .480 over the past two weeks with five home runs, but his hot streak goes back much further. Over the past 69 games, a span that covers 283 AB, Pedroia is hitting .396 with 12 home runs. With the injury to Ian Kinsler, Pedroia is the top fantasy second baseman in the American League, if not all of baseball.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 9/3, 4:39 PM CT
AL batting leader Dustin Pedroia was 3-for-4 with a home run in the seventh inning Wednesday. His long ball triggered Boston’s comeback from a four-run deficit, as the Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-4.

Our View: Pedroia is scorching hot as he now 8-for-13 in his last three games, including two home runs and eight RBI.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 9/2, 10:46 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia helped fuel the Red Sox to a 14-2 win over the Orioles by going 3-for-5 with a double, home run and fiver RBI.

Our View: MVP chatter is developing around the diminutive second baseman, and it is surely something people will have to consider after his recent tear. He has seven RBI so far in two September games.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 9/1, 10:12 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia had another two hits on Monday leading to two RBI as he pushed his batting average up to .327 for the Red Sox. He also stole his 17th base.

Our View: Pedroia now has a 6-game hitting streak during which time he has produced 15 hits. Since the start of June, a span of 76 games, Pedroia is batting a robust .362.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 8/27, 9:36 PM CT
The Red Sox made a statement this evening, putting the 11-3 whooping on the New York Yankees, led by the efforts of second baseman Dustin Pedroia. Pedroia went 3-for-5 at the dish, hitting his 15th homer of the season to total four RBIs and three runs scored.

Our View: Pedroia enjoyed one of his best evenings this season and in the midst of his best month as well, hitting .319 through August with five homers, 20 RBIs, and an impressive 28 runs scored. Needless to say, if you have him on the roster, you are happy.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxFriday 8/22, 10:19 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia knocked home three runners, collecting two hits in four at-bats and scoring a run on his 13th home run of the year in Red Sox 8-4 win over Toronto.

Our View: Pedroia has been nothing if not consistent in the summer months. In June he hit .356, in July it was .350, and in August his average is at .354.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxTuesday 8/12, 10:45 PM CT
Not to be overlooked in the dramatic 19-17 win over the Texas Rangers, Boston second bagger Dustin Pedroia was on the mark as well, going 5-for-6 with his 36th double of the season, registering two RBIs and five runs scored.

Our View: Not known as an offensive juggernaut, Pedroia hit .350 last month and is hoping to get back on this pace in August (hitting .300 coming into tonight).
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxSaturday 8/9, 9:22 AM CT
Dustin Pedroia tied Luis Castillo yesterday for the longest road hitting streak, 27 games, by a second baseman since Luis Castillo in 2002, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: For whatever reason, Pedroia has much better numbers on the road than at home, hitting .335 away from Fenway, but still has a respectable .295 average in Boston.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxFriday 8/8, 10:20 PM CT
Little Dustin Pedroia hit his 10th home run of the season on Friday night, a 3-run shot off of Octavio Dotel of the White Sox.

Our View: Pedroia has already bettered his total of eight home runs from last season, though this was his first big fly in 29 games. With the three RBI he now has 52 surpassing his RBI total of last season (50).
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxMonday 8/4, 11:18 PM CT
Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia has a hit in 25 consecutive road games, reports the Boston Globe. That is the most by a Red Sox player since Tris Speaker in 1913.

Our View: Speaker is pretty nice company to keep. Pedroia does a little bit of everything for fantasy owners, and even has a surprising nine home runs, which is one more than he had all of last season.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red SoxWednesday 7/23, 8:23 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia had two hits on Wednesday and is now batting .374 in 179 AB since the start of June to raise his average to .321.

Our View: Pedroia has erased his slow start to become one of the best second tier second basemen in the game. The average is legit, and if he continues to bat near the top of the Sox lineup he will continue to pile up the runs (he has 70).
