Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 2/9, 8:40 AM CT
When Mike Pelfrey arrives at the Mets' camp next week, he'll be around 25 pounds lighter than the weight he finished last season at, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Starting off the year's training in shape is certainly a good start for Pelfrey, but he still has a lot more to prove before fantasy owners start to take interest. After a decent season in 2008 (13-11, 3.76 ERA, 1.36 WHIP), Pelfrey was pretty bad last year (10-12, 5.03 ERA, 1.51 WHIP).
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 9/29, 10:55 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was better than usual in his final start of the regular season. He allowed just three runs on eight hits and a walk over seven innings, but did not factor in the decision of the Mets 4-3 loss to the Nationals.

Our View: Pelfrey is officially fantasy irrelevant now that he's been scratched from his final start of the season, but at least he ended on a good note. He closed out the year with two straight quality starts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 9/29, 7:22 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Mike Pelfrey will skip his final start of the season on Sunday.

Our View: Pelfrey has won just two starts since July 28th and his struggles are well documented within the Mets organization. This move is being called a "chance for Pelfrey to reflect on his season and prepare for next year.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 9/23, 9:41 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey got tagged for four runs in six innings on Wednesday, as the Mets lost 5-2 to the Braves at home.

Our View: Pelfrey has had a monumentally disappointing season in 2009, going just 10-12 with a 5.08 ERA and unsightly 1.52 WHIP.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 9/18, 9:48 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was roughed up for five runs (four earned) on eight hits over seven innings in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Nationals at Citi Field. He had no walks with four strikeouts, and was tagged for two homers.

Our View: Pelfrey struggled tonight, and now has a losing record at 10-11. He allowed four or more earned runs in four of his last five starts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 9/12, 6:49 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey had an ugly outing on Saturday, allowing eight runs to the Phillies in six innings, but miraculously took a no-decision, as the Mets rallied for a late 10-9 win on the road.

Our View: Pelfrey has had a lost 2009 season, and is now 10-10 with a 5.09 ERA in 28 starts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 9/6, 3:34 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey shut down the Cubs on Sunday to pick up his 10th win of the season. Pelfrey went eight innings and allowed one run on five hits while walking one and striking out five.

Our View: Pelfrey was coming off a couple of disasterous outings, but he had everything working today. Inconsitent is an understatement when talking about Pelfrey this season, but he ha shown that he has the stuff to dominate on a given day.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 9/1, 11:07 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey got destroyed by the Rockies Tuesday, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits and five walks over just four innings. He fell to 9-10 on the season after the 8-3 loss.

Our View: Pelfrey has now allowed 12 runs in his last 9.2 innings and has seen his ERA balloon from 4.67 to 5.03 over that brief span.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 8/26, 9:06 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey got hit hard by the Marlins on Wednesday, allowing 11 hits and five runs in five innings, as the Mets lost 5-3 on the road.

Our View: Pelfrey closed 2008 very strong for the Mets, but is doing no such thing this year, posting a 5.53 ERA in eight post All-Star game starts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 8/21, 11:05 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey held the Phillies to just two runs on six hits and a pair of walks over six innings. He fanned five and earned his ninth win with the 4-2 victory.

Our View: Pelfrey has been solid in back to back outings now and was rewarded Friday with his first win since July 28th.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 8/16, 3:54 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey pitched very well on Sunday, but he did not factor into the decision as the Mets beat the Giants 3-2. Pelfrey went 7.1 innings and allowed two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out five.

Our View: Pelfrey was much better today than he has been over the rest of the month, and he probably pitched well enough to win today. His record is still even at 8-8, and his ERA is at 4.75.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 8/10, 11:36 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was rocked for five earned runs on eight hits over six innings in Monday's 7-4 loss at Arizona. He had two walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: Pelfrey took a loss, and falls to 8-8 for 2009. He is 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA over two starts this month, after going 3-3 with a 4.84 ERA over six starts in July.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 8/6, 6:56 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey will start on Monday after being scratched from his scheduled Saturday start, according to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.

Our View: Pelfrey has given up only three runs in his past two starts after giving up 12 in his two before that. He finished 2008 very strong, and could do the same this season.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 8/6, 12:24 PM CT
According to Bart Hubbuch's Twitter account, Mike Pelfrey has been scratched from Saturday's start due to the birth of his child.

Our View: No word yet on who takes his spot in the rotation, but it's not like the injury-riddled Mets have a lot of options. On a lighter note: Way to go Mike.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 8/2, 5:59 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey allowed three runs on five hits and three walks before being pulled after five innings on Sunday. He struck out six, but took the loss as the Mets fell 5-2 to Arizona.

Our View: Pelfrey was coming off a great start on Tuesday, but he faltered a bit on Sunday against a weak Arizona offense. He's been hot and cold all season and is a risky fantasy start in any format. You could be rewarded with the occasional gem, but tread cautiously.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 7/28, 10:13 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was outstanding on Tuesday as the Mets blanked the Rockies 4-0. Pelfrey went 6.1 scoreless innings and allowed seven hits while walking three and striking out five.

Our View: Pelfrey was excellent tonight, and despite his season being mostly a disappointment so far, he still has an 8-6 record. He has been good as of late, and it looks like he may be poised to have a strong second half. If the Mets start playing better baseball, Pelfrey could be a nice fantasy performer is the last few months.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 7/22, 8:37 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey allowed three runs in seven innings on Monday, getting his ERA below 5.00, but still took the loss, as the Mets lost 3-1 in Washington.

Our View: Pelfrey has been a huge disappointment for the Amazins in 2009 after seemingly coming of age in 2008. He did pitcher dramatically better in the second half last year, though, and could make a similar charge this season.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 7/17, 11:08 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey got rocked on Friday by the Braves as the Mets fell 11-0. Pelfrey went 4.1 innings and allowed nine runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out three.

Our View: Pelfrey was awful tonight, and he has not done enough this season to excuse starts like this. Until the Mets turn things around, Pelfrey should only be considered in NL-only leagues.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 7/12, 3:46 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey pitched well enough to win on Sunday, and he did just that as the Mets dropped the Reds by a score of 9-7. Pelfrey went seven innings and allowed three runs on five hits while walking two and striking out four. He is now 7-4 on the year.

Our View: Pelfrey wasn't amazing today, but he was good enough. The bullpen wasn't great, but like Pelfrey they were good enough to give the Mets a win. Pelfrey is still just an average fantasy play, and until the Mets start playing better he won't be a strong play.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 7/7, 9:45 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey did all he could to keep Mets fans miserable Tuesday, getting blown up for five runs in just three innings as the Dodgers pounded the Mets 8-0 at Citi Field. The "Amazins" finished with just four hits.

Our View: After his strong finish to the 2008 season, Pelfrey has been dreadful in '09, posting a 4.52 ERA and sky-high 1.52 WHIP. He has just one quality start since May 29 and only four wins. If you own him, you could do better.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 7/1, 4:41 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey won for only the second time since May 7 on Wednesday, as the Mets shutout the Brewers 1-0.

Our View: After coming on strong in the second half of 2008, Pelfrey has been a huge disappointment in '09. Wednesday was only his second start since June 1 in which he gave up fewer than four runs. He has a not awful 4.26 ERA, but there are currently better fantasy options out there in most formats.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 6/26, 10:26 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits over five innings in Friday's 9-1 loss to the Yankees at Citi Field in the subway series. He had two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Pelfrey was tagged for four or more runs in four of his last five starts, and was dealt two losses over the span. He should only be considered in NL-only leagues for his next outing.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 6/21, 5:42 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey struggled in Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Rays at Citi Field, as he gave up four earned runs on eight hits over five innings. He had no walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: He took a no-decision, and was a disappointment after only allowing two earned runs in each of his previous two starts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 6/16, 9:25 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey picked up the win on Tuesday, going five average innings in the Mets 6-4 victory over the Orioles.

Our View: The righty walked three and struck out two while allowing two earned runs in less than six innings of work. He has been less than stellar in 2009, and is a fringe roster player at best.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 6/4, 2:42 PM CT
The Mets Mike Pelfrey was shelled by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday, giving up eight earned runs on nine hits and four walks in just 3.2 innings.

Our View: Pelfrey had been making large strides since a rough beginning to the season before today. He had thrown five straight quality starts and lowered his ERA from 5.46 to 3.88. That number rose by nearly a run today, though, to 4.85. However, it would be foolish to ignore his recent run. Give him at least one more start before making any decisions about dropping him.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 5/29, 9:59 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was very good once again on Friday, allowing just one run on five hits and a walk over 7.2 innings. He struck out six but did not factor in the decision as the Mets eventually won 2-1 in the 11th inning.

Our View: Pelfrey has been fantastic lately, allowing just two earned runs or less in each of his last four starts. He is 4-1 on the season and has his ERA down to 3.88. He's worth a look in mixed leagues now that he's showing some consistency.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 5/28, 1:11 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey disclosed that he has been battling migraine headaches for a while, but he insured that he will not be forced to miss his next start Friday against the Marlins, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Pelfrey has only given up two earned runs in each of his last three starts, and should be safe to keep active in fantasy lineups.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 5/23, 9:19 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was effective in a no-decision against Boston on Saturday, surrendering two runs off six hits and one walk while striking out six in seven innings.

Our View: Pelfrey has gone six-straight outings without giving up more than three runs and has four quality starts in a row. It was nice to see him handle a tough Red Sox offense and he it a fine spot starter at the moment.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 5/17, 10:22 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey suffered his first loss of the season in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Giants. However, it was one of Pelfrey's better showings of the season. He allowed just two runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out two.

Our View: Pelfrey is 4-1, but his 4.61 ERA and 1.54 WHIP seem to suggest that he is getting lucky. Throw in that he has just 11 strike outs in 41 innings, and it's clear that he's not a strong fantasy option. He is just 2-9 in his career in the month of May.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 5/7, 10:04 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey moved to 4-0 on the season on Thursday as the Mets downed the Phillies 7-5. Pelfrey went seven innings and allowed three runs on eight hits while walking one. He did not strike out a batter.

Our View: Pelfrey has been very good as of late, and he should continue to pile up wins with the support of the Mets' lineup. He lack of strikeouts hurts his fantasy value a bit, but the wins are a quality stat. His value is increasing as his ERA drops, so now may be a good time to give him a chance of your pitching is weak on wins.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 5/1, 10:40 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey picked up his second straight win on Friday as the Mets beat the Phillies 7-4. Pelfrey went 5.1 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits while walking four. His record now sits at 3-0.

Our View: Pelfrey has delivered two straight decent starts since his return from a strained forearm. Although his outing tonight was far from perfect, it is a good sign for Mets' fans and fantasy owners. He could be worth a look in all leagues if he continues to pitch decently, but his ERA is still at 6.00 so it may be best to hold off in mixed leagues for now.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 4/25, 3:55 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey lasted 5.2 innings in his return to the hill from a strained forearm and emerged with his second victory of the year after holding the Nationals to just two runs. He only struck out one batter while allowing six hits and three walks.

Our View: Pelfrey lowered his ERA to 6.32 in the outing, but after three starts his WHIP is still a troubling 1.79 while his K/9 rate is terrible 3.45. Therefore, despite the win, there are still a couple of good reasons while it might remain a good idea to keep Pelfrey on the sidelines for now.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 4/25, 12:20 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey will start for the Mets on Saturday, according to The Star Ledger. Pelfrey missed his last start due to some forearm tendinitis.

Our View: Pelfrey hasn't looked at all sharp in the early going with a 8.10 ERA and a 1.90 WHIP in his two starts. He faces a Nationals squad that is 12th in the NL in runs (64), but it still might be wise to leave him on your bench until he proves he deserves to be active.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 4/23, 2:40 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey (forearm tendinitis) threw a bullpen session Thursday without any issues, according to the New York Post.

Our View: He appears to remain on track to return to the Mets' rotation Saturday against the Nationals. He allowed three home runs in his lone start this season, so he will be a risky fantasy option for this weekend.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 4/21, 6:40 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey threw batting practice on Tuesday and said he was ready to start on Saturday, according to the Daily News. He missed his last scheduled start due to forearm tendinitis.

Our View: Pelfrey has gotten off to a rough start this season with an 8.10 ERA through 10 innings of work. He has also already allowed three home runs and he will need to find a way to keep the ball in the park to be the effective pitcher the Mets expect him to be. Expect better results on Saturday.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 4/18, 8:22 AM CT
Mike Pelfrey will miss one turn in the rotation due to forearm tendinitis, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Nelson Figueroa is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to make Pelfrey's start Sunday against the Brewers. The Mets are not concerned with Pelfrey's condition, and he is only expected to miss one start.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 4/17, 6:07 PM CT
Manager Jerry Manuel tells MLB.com that the team will decide by the end of Friday if Mike Pelfrey (forearm) will make his scheduled start on Sunday. Pelfrey was slated to play catch on Friday. "We are going to watch him work out and see how convincing he is," Manuel says. "And then make a decision based on that." Signs point to Nelson Figueroa getting the call if Pelfrey is scratched.

Our View: We'll let you know when the Mets finally make a call. We would expect them to play is cautious, considering it's mid-April.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 4/17, 4:56 PM CT
SI.com is reporting that the Mets are planning on scratching Mike Pelfrey from his next scheduled start. He is suffering from tendinitis in his right forearm.

Our View: Pelfrey has been trying to talk the team out of scratching him, but with the way he has pitched so far this season, the Mets feel he would be better served resting his arm for now. If he gets himself healthy, he can be a decent contributor in any fantasy format.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 4/17, 9:26 AM CT
Mike Pelfrey is not concerned with his forearm tendinitis, and wants to pitch his scheduled start for Sunday, according to MetsBlog.com.

Our View: Pelfrey feels he will be OK, but the Mets will wait and see how he responds today after receiving anti-inflammatory medicine Thursday. An announcement on his status for Sunday is expected today.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 4/15, 3:40 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Newsday is reporting that Mike Pelfrey is suffering from forearm tendinitis, but that he will not miss his next scheduled start.

Our View: There has been some concern about whether or not Pelfrey was going to miss a start or not, but as of right now it looks as if he is going to go in his next outing. Pelfrey himself said that this is no big deal, but he has struggled thus far in 2009 so watch him closely.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 4/15, 7:15 AM CT
Mike Pelfrey has forearm tendonitis, according to Peter Gammons of ESPN.

Our View: The tendonitis is the culprit for his poor start, as he allowed six walks and nine earned runs over two outings. It was not disclosed if Pelfrey may miss his next scheduled start with the ailment.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 4/14, 9:39 AM CT
Skipper Jerry Manuel is concerned with Mike Pelfrey's movement on his pitches after allowing nine earned runs and six walks over his first two starts of 2009, according to the New York Daily News. Manuel said, "We gave up so many runs early and we did not get what we expected to see from Mike Pelfrey and that is somewhat concerning. So far I have not seen his real good stuff. I do not know if it is the end of spring training when the arm does not feel real good, but we just have not seen the life in his pitches."

Our View: Pelfrey won 13 games with the Mets in 2008, and it is too early to give up on him. Fantasy owners could try to acquire him for a bargain price while he is struggling.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 4/13, 9:35 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey had a rough outing as the Mets lost their first game in the new Citi Field on Monday. He allowed eight hits, including two home runs, and five earned runs in five innings of work.

Our View: Pelfrey's calling card since arriving in the majors has not been his consistency. The Mets are hoping he can emerge as their No. 2 starter, but that pressure may be a little too much for the 25-year-old at this point in his career. Their are plenty of good starts ahead of him this season, but he needs to get settled into a rhythm first.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 4/2, 6:04 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was shredded for eight runs against the Orioles on Thursday. He allowed eight hits in four innings and struck out a pair of batters.

Our View: Despite the horrific numbers, Pelfrey said he took solace in the fact he was able to get his pitch count up.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 3/29, 4:19 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey pitched only a third of an inning Sunday, but he took the loss against the Orioles. He allowed one run on two hits.

Our View: Pelfrey is worth solid value in NL-only leagues, but considering the status of his lower left leg injury, he may not be worth the gamble to select in mixed leagues to begin the season.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 3/24, 6:23 PM CT
Pitcher Mike Pelfrey may be able to blame part of his rough outing on Tuesday to his sore lower left leg. He has been dealing with a muscle strain between the ankle and shin, and Pelfrey is behind on his conditioning. He allowed one run over four innings against the Astros and then served up four more runs before leaving in the fifth. "They told me I looked a little tired," Pelfrey informs MLB.com. "But I don't want to make excuses."

Our View: These are the times that we're glad it's still spring training. Pelfrey was able to throw 84 pitches, but he didn't show his usual command. He still has a couple weeks to get into better shape and develop more stamina. Don't be surprised if his outings are shorter once we get into April.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 3/24, 3:45 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was rocked for six earned runs on 10 hits over 4.2 innings in Tuesday's 8-0 loss to the Astros in the Grapefruit League, with one walk and one strikeout.

Our View: Pelfrey had a nightmarish outing, but should bounce back, and fatasy owners should not be scared off.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 3/19, 3:41 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey allowed one earned run on three hits over six innings in Thursday's 12-1 win over Houston, with one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Pelfrey should be an innings-eater this season and could be a solid source for wins, but not for strikeouts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 3/14, 5:36 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey threw four shutout innings as the Mets fell 6-2 to the Nationals on Saturday. He allowed two hits and two walks, while striking out one.

Our View: Pelfrey possesses the type of sink on his fastball that will keep the ball in the park, but he does not generate many strikeouts. He is penciled in as the No. 2 starter for the Mets, but he's not much better than a No. 4 option in most fantasy leagues.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 3/14, 8:33 AM CT
Mike Pelfrey is set to start today's game against the Nationals after missing his last start due to a lower-leg muscle strain, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View: If healthy, Pelfrey would start the second game of the regular season against Cincinnati on April 8. He was rusty in his bullpen session on Wednesday, so hopefully he will regain his control today.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 3/11, 9:35 AM CT
Mike Pelfrey threw a bullpen session this morning, which marks his first time on a mound since being diagnosed with a mild strain in his lower left leg, according to the NY Daily News. He said the pain regarding his injury went from an "8 or 9" down to a "1 or 2."

Our View: Pelfrey deemed himself fit to return to the rotation for Saturday's Grapefruit League game after missing one turn. Barring a setback, he is on target to pitch in the second game of the regular season against the Reds on April 8.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 3/9, 11:25 AM CT
As expected, Mike Pelfrey will miss his scheduled spring start on Monday due to a leg strain,, MetsBlog.com reports. He will throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Our View: We're not too concerned, as the injury sounds fairly minor and the regular season is four weeks away. Pelfrey should not fall in the fantasy rankings.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 3/8, 9:10 AM CT
Mike Pelfrey commented on his leg strain, according to the NY Post. He noted that the injury occured during a side session Friday and he added, "I do not imagine this pushing me back too far."

Our View: He does not expect to make his next scheduled start Monday against Baltimore, but is optimistic of throwing a bullpen session on Wednesday.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 3/7, 2:01 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was diagnosed with a strain in his lower leg following a bullpen session on Saturday, according to the New York Daily News. The strain has led to fluid build up in his ankle, but it is reportedly nothing too serious.

Our View: This sounds a little more serious than the writer lets on, so keep an eye on his schedule for the rest of spring as it will likely be altered. Assuming the 25-year-old is healthy, expect his hard sinker to limit opponents' home run power. After a slow start, Pelfrey was a very reliable pitcher for most of the season.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 3/4, 3:40 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was shelled against the Nationals on Wednesday. He allowed five hits and three runs in three innings.

Our View: Slated to be a mid-rotation starter, Pelfry should be a decent late round pick, especially in NL-only leagues. Any improvement on last year's 200-inning, sub-four ERA performance would be a big bonus.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 9/26, 10:04 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey issued three earned runs on eight hits over six innings in Friday's 6-1 loss to the Marlins at Shea Stadium, with no walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Pelfrey failed to pick up a win in September, and closes out the month 0-3 over five starts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 9/21, 4:42 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was robbed of his 14th victory of the year in yet another collapse by the Mets bullpen. Pelfrey allowed three runs in six innings in the outing against the Braves.

Our View: If the Mets fail to make the playoffs, it is clear who should shoulder the blame - the entire bullpen. Pelfrey has a 3.70 ERA over his 31 starts, and with 5.1 innings in his final start he will reach 200 innings pitched.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 9/21, 9:48 AM CT
Mets hurler Mike Pelfrey has not fared well against the Atlanta Braves this season, as in three starts he has gone 1-2 with a 6.87 ERA and has walked 10 people while striking out just six.

Our View: Pelfrey has been very good for fantasy owners this season, and he does have one good start against Atlanta, pitching a complete game and allowing three runs the last time he faced them.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 9/16, 9:42 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey pitched very well Tuesday, allowing just one run on seven hits and four walks while striking out four over seven innings. Unfortunately, he picked up the loss, as the Mets fell 1-0 to Washington.

Our View: Pelfrey hasn't won since August 25 despite solid efforts in three of his last four starts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 9/10, 10:09 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was left with a no-decision after allowing five runs in five innings of action on Wednesday night. He also gave up eight hits while walking two without a single strike out National batter.

Our View: Pelfrey hadn't allowed more than three runs in any of his last five starts, but on this night he clearly didn't have his stuff as he failed to record even a single strikeout. Pelfrey has been extremely solid, but with a K/9 mark of just barely over five he is bound to have some issue with consistently dominating the opponent.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 9/10, 12:46 PM CT
New York gets another chance to hold serve in the National League East tonight when Mike Pelfrey, who is 11-3 with a 2.96 ERA in his last 19 starts, faces off against the sagging Nationals. The right-hander is 8-6 with a 2.66 ERA in 16 starts at Shea Stadium this year.

Our View: He's also 1-1 with a 0.61 ERA in two starts vs. the Nationals this season.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 9/5, 8:56 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey allowed just four hits over seven innings against the Phillies on Friday but left with a loss. Phillies third baseman Greg Dobbs connected for a two-out, two-run homer off of him in the seventh - the only earned runs Pelfrey allowed.

Our View: Despite the loss, Pelfrey did not pitch bad. He continues to have an excellent second half and September was his best month of 2007.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 8/27, 2:47 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey has already thrown 10.1 more innings then he did all of last year but the Mets say they are not going to be able to lighten the load. With fellow starter John Maine on the DL the Mets expect Pelfrey to start at least six more games before the post-season.

Our View: Pelfery has been spectacular in his last two starts going the full nine innings in both and only giving up four runs over the 18-innings.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 8/25, 8:45 PM CT
Mets pitcher Mike Pelfrey threw a great game, going the full nine innings, allowing just one run on six hits and striking out six in the Mets 9-1 win over Houston.

Our View: Solid performance by Pelfrey, who threw his second complete game in a row. He is definitely someone fantasy owners need to keep starting, as he now has 13 wins and and ERA of 3.70.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 8/23, 11:38 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey is likely to be pushed back in the rotation to avoid starting against Florida, according to the AP. He holds a 10.66 ERA in three starts this year.

Our View: With the way Pelfrey has pitched lately, we're surprised the Mets would push him back even with his struggles against the Fish.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 8/20, 8:22 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey earned his 12th win of the season by throwing a complete game against the Braves. The Mets won by the score of 6-3 behind Pelfrey's nine innings, as he gave up just three runs on three hits while walking three and striking out three.

Our View: That's a lot of threes. This is the second good performance in a row by Pelfrey, and though his strikeout rate is not extraordinary, he remains a solid fantasy option, especially in NL-only leagues.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 8/15, 8:47 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey befuddled the Pittsburgh bats Friday, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing just seven hits with one strikeout.

Our View: Pelfrey has had a hiccup every now and then, but in general he's been very good since June.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 8/10, 3:35 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was rocked for six earned runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Marlins at home, with three walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Pelfrey falls to 10-8 and his ERA climbs to 4.11. Pelfrey has been inconsistent from start to start, but should remain active in lineups. He has allowed one or less earned runs in three of his last seven outings.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 8/5, 9:40 PM CT
The Mets needed a bit of offense to insure the efforts of RHP Mike Pelfrey did not go to waste, getting the 6-5 win over the Padres. Pelfrey pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on nine hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Pelfrey moves to 10-7 on the year with an ERA of 3.85. Over his last two months of work, including this win, he is 8-1 with just three homers and 20 walks allowed, balanced by 50 strikeouts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 7/30, 9:52 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey tied his shortest outing of the season by lasting just four innings on Wednesday night against the Marlins. Pelfrey fell to 9-7 after giving up eight hits and five runs.

Our View: Pelfrey had won seven times in his last eight starts entering the night, so he was kind of due for a stinker. This was the second time in three starts that he allowed five earned runs but it was also only the second time in his last eight starts that he permitted that many runs to cross the plate.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 7/25, 9:29 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was outstanding as the New York Mets downed the Cardinals 7-2 at Shea Stadium. Pelfrey went seven innnings, allowing seven hits and one run while walking nobody.

Our View: Pelfrey has had a ridiculous July, winning four of his five starts and throwing at least seven innings in each of them. He is carrying a 1.75 ERA for the month.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 7/20, 5:45 PM CT
The Mets left RHP Mike Pelfrey on the mound despite struggles today, and in the end the team found the win, 7-5, over the Reds. Pelfrey pitched seven innings, allowing five runs (all earned) on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: Allowing three dingers to the big hitters of Cincy served as the most concerning mark of the day for a pitcher has otherwise shined in recent weeks. Pelfrey walked with no decision, thus he continues to carry a six-win streak forward (having not suffered a loss since May 26th).
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 7/17, 10:44 PM CT
The AP reports that Mike Pelfrey will start in Pedro Martinez's place on Sunday. Pelfrey hasn't allowed a run in his last 16 innings.

Our View: Pelfrey will go for his seventh straight start with a winning decision. He is clearly a fantasy factor in the second half.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 7/14, 2:06 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey has been named the NL Player of the Week, according to the NY Daily News. Pelfrey earned the honor by hurling 15 scoreless innings in wins over the Giants and Rockies.

Our View: Pelfrey has now won six straight decisions, and should remain active in your starting lineup while he is hot.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 7/13, 9:54 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey was over-the-top good again leading the Mets to a 7-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday night. It was the Mets ninth win in a row leaving them just a half a game behind NL East leader Philadelphia.

Our View: Pelfrey tossed eight scoreless innings allowing six hits, walking none and striking out five.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 7/8, 9:13 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey outpitched Tim Lincecum and shutout the visiting Giants on Tuesday. He allowed three hits and no walks in seven innings of work.

Our View: It appears Pelfrey is the real deal after a disastrous May. He should continue to get good run support and is worth picking up if he is still available.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 7/3, 11:47 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey allowed a run and six hits in seven innings in his first career appearance against St. Louis, winning his fourth in a row on the road in the blowout 11-1 victory over St Louis on Thursday night.

Our View: The Mets have won six of his last seven starts and given him sick run support in the process. Pelfrey even contributed at the plate. The starter had been 2-for-57 (.035) for his career before his RBI single in the third.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 6/22, 5:11 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey won his third straight start on Sunday as he held the Rockies scoreless over 5.2 innings. Pelfrey struck out five Rockies but balanced out that production with five walks.

Our View: This was a nice bounce back effort after Pelfrey allowed six runs last time out, and it marks the fourth time in five outings that he has allowed two of fewer runs. He hasn't established himself yet, but his current run of consistency is promising.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 6/17, 12:27 AM CT
Mike Pelfrey allowed three runs over six innings to the Angels during which time he surrendered eight hits and two walks for the Mets in his third win of the year.

Our View: How is it that Pelfrey throws in the mid-90's and he can go an entire game without a single strikeout? In fact, Pelfrey has four starts in his last 10 in which he has one or zero strikeouts. He is pitching well having allowed five earned runs in his last three starts, but if he doesn't start missing some bats, his success could turn around in a hurry.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 6/16, 12:18 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey will battle the Angels tonight in inter-league play, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Pelfrey notched a season-high eight strikeouts in his last outing against the Diamondbacks, and hurled eight scoreless innings, and was the third straight outing that he allowed two or less earned runs. He should be considered for your lineups tonight, despite his 2-6 record.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsWednesday 6/11, 10:39 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey dominated the D'backs for eight innings on Wednesday night allowing just one run, though he ended up with a no-decision after Billy Wagner picked up his fourth blown save of the year.

Our View: Pelfrey had eight K (a career-high) and just two BB on the evening and has now allowed just five earned runs over his last three starts (1.71 ERA). If he is available in your league, strike now as he is clearly found his groove.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 6/6, 12:03 AM CT
Continuing to pitch like he wants no part of the minors, Mike Pelfrey went six innings against the Padres on Thursday night allowing just a single run in a no-decision.

Our View: Pelfrey had only one K on the night and his K/9 rate of 4.35 is terribly low for a man who throws 95 mph. Still, he has allowed just three runs over his last two starts though he has nary a decision for his efforts.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 6/2, 11:34 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey won't be bumped from the rotation, yet. The Mets plan to keep him in the majors, move Claudio Vargas to a long relief role, and send down reliever Carlos Muniz, MLB.com reports.

Our View: Pelfrey is 27 starts into his major league career, and he has yet to show any signs of consistency. He has lost six straight decisions and shouldn't be in any fantasy lineups.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 6/2, 7:25 AM CT
With Pedro Martinez scheduled to return to the rotation, one of the Mets' starters will have to be bumped. Mike Pelfrey or Claudio Vargas are the candidates. Pelrey still has minor league options and can be sent to the farm, unlike Claudio Vargas.

Our View: After two impressive outings to start the season, in which he was 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA, Pelfrey hasn't picked up a win since April 15 and has dropped his last six decisions. His ERA ballooned to a season-high 5.33 after a rough stint against the Marlins on Monday, but he bounced back with a strong start against the Dodgers, a game the Mets eventually won 3-2. The right-hander allowed two runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out seven. He effectively allowed the Mets to hang around and win it.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 5/31, 2:17 PM CT
The New York Mets will turn to RHP Mike Pelfrey as they face surging Chad Billingsley and the Los Angeles Dodgers today, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Pelfrey was the 9th-overall selection of the 2005 entry draft but has struggled to meet the expectations associated with that status, going 7-15 with an ERA of 5.48 over 26 starts in the majors. The kid is riding a six-game losing streak coming in and hasn't seen a win since facing Washington on April 15th. In each of his last two starts, Pelfrey has lasted just four innings.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 5/26, 11:14 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey lasted only four innings and dropped his sixth straight start and the New York fell three games below .500 and 6.5 games back of first place. The right-hander allowed four runs on six hits, walked three and struck out three.

Our View: Pelfrey is the weak link in the Mets starting five and isn't long for the rotation. The problem is the team doesn't have many options to replace the struggling right-hander.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsMonday 5/26, 5:46 PM CT
The Sports Network reports that Mets' ownership met today to discuss the future of manager Willie Randolph. General manager Omar Minaya held a press conference to announce that Randolph would remain at his post. Minaya reportedly had a meeting with owner Fred Wilpon and COO Jeff Wilpon which resulted in positive support for Randolph and his performance. "Willie's job was never in danger going into this meeting," Minaya said.

Our View: A strong performance by Mike Pelfrey tonight would go a long way in assisting the Mets as a team and Randolph as the continuing manager.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsThursday 5/15, 3:06 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey lost a no-hitter in the seventh inning on Thursday, and went on to lose his fourth game of the season, as Washington topped the Mets 1-0. Pelfrey only allowed the one run on three hits over 7.2 innings, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: This was a strong outing for him, which was spoiled by no run support by the Mets' hitters. He has only allowed three earned runs over his last two games, but the Mets lost them both.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSaturday 5/3, 6:58 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey fell to 2-2 for the season in Saturday's 10-4 loss to Arizona. He got rocked for five runs on nine hits over five innings, with four walks and one strikeout.

Our View: Pelfrey has lost two straight starts, while allowing 10 runs over the span. He started off strong as he only allowed two runs over his first two outings of the season, and is worth targeting if you can get him for a low price.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsFriday 4/25, 3:11 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey will be aiming for a 3-0 start when the Mets host the Braves tonight, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He holds a 1.53 WHIP and 3.18 ERA over 17 innings, but he is pitching well overall, as four of his six runs and 10 of his 20 hits allowed came in one game against the Phillies last Sunday (in a no decision). That rough outing skewed his numbers, and you can use that to your advantage by trying to lure him away for a bargain.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 4/20, 11:31 PM CT
Mike Pelfrey, who gave up 10 hits and four runs in five innings of work Sunday night, threw almost nothing but fastballs. The results of such were not what the right-hander or the Mets were aiming for. All Star second baseman Chase Utley single handedly did Pelfrey in hitting his seventh and eighth home runs of April.

Our View: Pelfrey had been good in his first two starts, recording a 1.50 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. The Mets' right hander escaped the loss and gets a chance to record his third victory of the season Friday versus Atlanta.
Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsTuesday 4/15, 10:09 PM CT

The two right-handers will split tomorrow's Florida finale against the Orioles in Fort Lauderdale. The report noted that while Orlando Hernandez opened camp with the slot, injuries have forced him to miss most of the spring work. Mike Pelfrey, P, New York MetsSunday 3/23, 9:32 PM CT

It's something he might be doing more often, as he's not going to start Monday's game, according to the New York Daily News. "I threw a lot more changeups and I threw a lot more sliders than I usually would," Pelfrey told the Port St. Lucie News "I'm just trying to get a feel for it and work to execute pitches. It was good actually getting into it. Here it's a lot different. Guys are swinging away. It's kind of hard. ... It felt like it's really been a while since I've been out there. It took me a little while to find my rhythm and get back into it, but overall I felt good." Pelfrey is slated to join the Mets rotation on Friday against the Nationals.
