Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/6, 6:38 PM CT
Continuing his unpredicatble 2009 on Sunday, Yusmeiro Petit allowed six runs in just three innings of work, as the Rockies blew out the D-Backs 13-5 in Denver.

Our View: Petit had posted a 2.12 ERA in his previous three starts after posting an 11.25 one in his two prior to those. With the date reading September 6 on the calendar, he's not worth trying to predict at this point.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 8/28, 12:14 AM CT
Yusmeiro Petit scattered just four hits over six innings on Thursday night, as the Diamondbacks crushed the Giants 11-0 in San Francisco.

Our View: Petit is simply impossible to get a read on. He's just as likely to allow six runs in two innings as he is none in seven. Still, his 5.59 ERA should serve as a pretty powerful tiebreaker if you are ever tempted to start him.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 8/21, 11:44 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit held the Astros to one run on four hits and a pair of walks over six innings. He fanned four, but took a hard luck loss as the D-Backs offense took the day off and they fell 1-0.

Our View: Petit can't buy a win. He falls to 2-8 on the season and even though he puts together a rare productive outing his offense leaves him high and dry. Still, his 6.06 ERA means he's victimized the D-Backs' chances to win plenty of times.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/16, 8:49 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit got rocked by the Dodgers on Sunday. He surrendered seven runs on nine hits over just four innings and was saddled with the loss.

Our View: After a 14-inning scoreless stretch in late July-early August that looked like his season was turning around, Petit has fallen off the road to recovery. He's now allowed 11 runs in his last eight innings.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/9, 3:55 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit continued his Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde act on Sunday, getting tagged for four runs and nine hits in just four innings one start after allowing one hit and no runs in eight innings. The Snakes lost 9-2 to get swept by the last-place Nationals.

Our View: Petit just can't be trusted enough to be owned at this point. You can chance that he'll be good in his next start, but chance is the emphasized word.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/4, 10:14 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit took a no-hitter into the eighth inning on Tuesday, and eventually he picked up the win as the Diamondbacks shut out the Pirates 6-0. Petit went eight innings and allowed the one hit while walking three and striking out four.

Our View: Petit has come out of nowhere to win his last two starts, not allowing a run in either outing. He had been getting pounded around all year, so his performance as of late is a bit puzzling. The risk is still too high to add him, but it may be worth it to monitor his performance over the next few starts.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/29, 11:43 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit earned his first win of the season Wednesday night, holding the Phillies' powerful lineup to no runs in six innings, as Arizona won 4-0 at home.

Our View: Wow. Didn't see this one coming. The Phillies had been crushing everything in sight recently, while Petit has rarely met a lineup he couldn't get crushed by. However, his triumph still only lowered his ERA to 6.75, and his WHIP reminds an unsightly 1.62.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/24, 11:54 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit was lit up for six earned runs on nine hits over a mere 4.1 innings in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Pirates at Chase Field. He issued one walk with six strikeouts.

Our View: Petit was dealt a loss, and remains winless over nine starts. He has a 7.68 ERA, and is not fit for fantasy duty.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/19, 7:06 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit pitched well on Sunday, but he was outdueled by the Cardinals' Joel Pineiro as the Diamondbacks fell to St. Louis by a score of 2-1. Petit went six innings and allowed two runs on three hits while walking four and striking out six.

Our View: Petit is still winless on the year, but this was his best start to date of the 2009 season. His ERA is at 7.15 even after this start, but the D-Backs have to be encouraged by this performance. He will need a few more of these before anyone takes him seriously as a fantasy contributor, however.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/4, 11:22 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit was lit up in his first start back from the disabled list on Saturday, allowing four earned runs in just three innings of work. The Diamondbacks still won, though, 9-6 in Denver.

Our View: Petit was not good in 2009 before going on the DL, and there is no reason at this time to add him to your team.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/4, 10:33 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that the Diamondbacks have activated starter Yusmeiro Petit to start Saturday's game. Petit has been out of the rotation since he went on the DL in May.

Our View: Petit is not even a candidate for a spot fantasy start today, as he has been bad this season. It would not be wise to have him on your team, as he has done nothing to show he is worthy of fantasy consideration.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/1, 11:02 AM CT
According to the Arizona Republic, Yusmeiro Petit is the likely candidate to fill in for the recently demoted Billy Buckner in the Diamondback's rotation.

Our View: Petit went on the DL in May with a shoulder injury, but is finishing up he rehab and the team apparently feels he's ready to pitch. He was yanked from his rehab start after three innings possibly to save his arm for a call-up. Still, he hasn't pitched well enough to warrant any fantasy consideration.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/9, 9:13 AM CT
Diamondbacks' righty Yusmeiro Petit threw two scoreless innings during his rehab assignment for Triple-A Reno on Monday, according to the Arizona Republic. Petit has been out since early May with a strained shoulder.

Our View: Petit is coming along slowly, as he has missed a month with his injury so far. He struggled after taking over for ace Brandon Webb in the D-Backs' rotation, so the team will make sure he is 100 percent before bringing him back.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/9, 6:39 PM CT
According to ESPN.com, the Diamondbacks placed starter Yusmeiro Petit on the 15-day disabled list today due to a strained shoulder.

Our View: Petit was filling for ailing ace Brandon Webb, but was doing a poor job of it. The D-Backs are unsure who will man that duty now.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/8, 1:57 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit will start Saturday's game against the Dodgers in place of the ailing Brandon Webb (shoulder stiffness), according to MLB.com.

Our View: Petit held a solid 1.05 WHIP over 56.1 innings last season, with 42 strikeouts. He is worth a look for NL-only leagues for Saturday's spot-start at Chase Field.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 3/18, 9:50 AM CT
Yusmeiro Petit is expected to win a spot in the Diamondbacks' bullpen, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View: Petit held a 1.05 WHIP over 56.1 innings last season, but with only 42 strikeouts. He would not hold much value as a reliever, but could be in line for spot-starts, depending on injuries.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersFriday 3/6, 10:51 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit allowed a run in three innings of work in Arizona's 4-2 win against Mexico.

Our View: The 24-year-old Petit appeared in 19 games last season, including eight starts, and posted a 3-5 record to go along with a 4.31 ERA.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/2, 12:00 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit isn't a household fantasy name, but the 23 year old has allowed just 10 total runs in his six starts since taking over for Micah Owings. He has 18 strike outs in 23 innings, while walking just two.

Our View: Petit relies on deception for the most part, and tonight's battle against the patient batting order of the Cards and Adam Wainwright's third starts since returning from a long stint on the disabled list figures to be entertaining.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 8/23, 11:05 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit allowed just one run on two hits while striking out six over six innings in Saturday's win over Florida.

Our View: Petit isn't one of the Cy Young candidates on Arizona's roster, but he's been awfully good. Snatch him up off the free agent wire if he's still out there.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/7, 11:41 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit saw his record fall to 1-3 with the Diamondbacks loss to Atlanta. Petit threw well once again, hurling five innings and giving up just two earned runs, but it wasn't quite good enough as the Braves won 6-4.

Our View: Petit has been a starter and reliever this season, and he has fared well in both roles. He could be a solid fantasy performer in NL-only leagues.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/29, 6:29 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit will make the start on Saturday against the Dodgers, as he takes the place of the demoted Micah Owings in the rotation, according to Dbacks.com.

Our View: Petit has been very good this year, with a 2.55 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. His control has been superb, as he has walked just five batters in 24.2 innings. He could be a nice option for fantasy players in need of some pitching help.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/29, 8:40 AM CT
With Micah Owings' latest debacle and Yusmeiro Petit showing well again in relief, we could see Petit take Owings' spot in the rotation, according to the East Valley Tribune. Manager Bob Melvin said there's "no question" Petit is making a case to start.

Our View: Petit boasts a 2.55 ERA and 0.85 WHIP on the year. He's allowed just two runs over his 11 innings as a starter. Mixed leaguers should look his way if he officially gets the nod in place of Owings this weekend in LA.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/23, 12:00 AM CT
Yusmeiro Petit pitched well enough for the win on Tuesday night against the Cubs. In five innings he allowed just one run but walked three and gave up five hits.

Our View: Will Petit take Micah Owings' spot in the rotation? His ERA is down to 2.78 and he has given up just two runs in two starts.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/22, 9:11 AM CT
Micah Owings threw one inning in relief on Monday, so Yusmeiro Petit will start in his place in the rotation on Tuesday, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View: Petit has been effective this season with a 0.74 WHIP over 17.2 innings of work, and is worth a look in NL-only leagues for Tuesday.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/2, 11:51 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit performed well in his first start, as he only allowed one earned run on two hits over six innings in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Milwaukee, with no walks and four strikeouts. He exited the game with a 2-1 lead, and ended his night with a no decision.

Our View: He made a spot start in place of the injured Micah Owings. Petit proved he can be effective as a starter, but his fantasy value will remain low as he will likely return to the bullpen.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 3/29, 7:36 AM CT
Yusmeiro Petit has earned himself a spot in the Diamondbacks bullpen, according to the Arizona Republic. Petit had a good spring, posting a 2.92 ERA and striking out 17 batters in 12 1/3 innings.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/20, 1:18 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit had a strong outing against Seattle on Wednesday as he only allowed one hit over two innings, with three strikeouts. That was a good day for him as he tries to solidify a spot in the D-Backs' bullpen.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/28, 10:59 AM CT
Yusmeiro Petit, who has allowed 11 runs in his last two starts, spanning 7 2/3 innings, is in danger of being removed from Arizona's starting rotation, according to the Arizona Republic. Petit's next outing is scheduled for Friday against the Rockies, and the D'Backs could opt to give the ball to Edgar Gonzalez or Dana Eveland.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/16, 10:40 AM CT
Yusmeiro Petit will be recalled to start against the Braves on Sunday, according to the Arizona Republic. He's been solid for the D'Backs in seven starts this year, holding a 4.23 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/5, 9:43 AM CT
Yusmeiro Petit, who started in place of the injured Randy Johnson on Tuesday, will start again on Sunday against the Reds, according to the Arizona Republic. "We'll have some time obviously after the break with the four days off," manager Bob Melvin said. "If we have to make some adjustments if we don't like the way guys fit in behind other guys, we can adjust it there. So it's one more outing." Petit pitched 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball against the Cardinals on Tuesday.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/22, 5:16 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit was recalled from Triple-A Tucson to start for the D'Backs Sunday and pitched very well, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out five over seven innings. Petit will probably be sent back down to make room on the roster for Randy Johnson, who is slated to make his season debut Tuesday. He was making a spot start in place of the injury Micah Owings.
Yusmeiro Petit, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/6, 3:48 PM CT
Yusmeiro Petit rebounded from a poor spring debut to pitch three scoreless innings Tuesday, allowing just one hit while striking out five. Petit is one of the main contenders for the spot in the Marlins' rotation that has been vacated by the injured Josh Johnson.
