Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 3/14, 3:39 PM CT
Glen Perkins allowed four runs in just one inning of work against the Red Sox on Sunday.

Our View: He has now allowed six runs in just 3.2 innings this spring. It's safe to say that he still possesses amazingly little fantasy value.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 3/10, 7:53 PM CT
Glen Perkins is garnering interest from a few teams, according to the Star Tribune. The Rockies, Pirates and Blue Jays sent scouts to watch him pitch Tuesday.

Our View: The Twins are in the market for a closer with Joe Nathan down with an elbow injury, and there are rumors that they are interested in Jason Frasor of Toronto. None of the listed teams has a real need for a left-handed starter like Perkins though, and perhaps they are looking at him as a potential reliever.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 9/6, 10:12 AM CT
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Twins' pitcher Glen Perkins may file a grievance against the team due to the way the team handled his most recent injury. The team has shut him down for the season, which will prevent him from qualifying for salary arbitration after this season.

Our View: It sounds like things are getting a bit heated between Perkins and the Twins, as the team is claiming Perkins was cleared to pitch but got a second opinion on his injured shoulder. We won't know much until Perkins actually files the grievance, but it doesn't look like he will pitch again this season.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 9/1, 11:09 AM CT
Glen Perkins was activated off the DL on Monday and immediately optioned to Triple-A Rochester, according to MLB.com. Perkins had been on the DL since August 12 with shoulder tendinitis.

Our View: Perkins is hoping to rejoin the team at some point this month, be he needs to get some work in for the Triple-A team first. The rotation is hurting badly right now, and they will welcome him back as soon as he is ready.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 8/29, 11:30 AM CT
Glen Perkins is slated to throw one inning today in Fort Myers, Florida, according to the Star Tribune. He is recovering from tendinitis in his left shoulder.

Our View: Perkins looks to be on target to return to Minnesota at some point in September, but is only worth holding in AL-only leagues.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 8/13, 11:29 AM CT
Twins' starter Glen Perkins will not need surgery on his ailing shoulder, according to beat writer Joe Christensen. Perkins got the results back from his second MRI and it showed no major structural damage.

Our View: This is great news for Perkins, and the hope is now that he will be able to return sometime in September. He has been awful as of late, but if he can get healthy he should be able to help the team make a run at the playoffs.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 8/12, 7:27 PM CT
The Associated Press reports that Glen Perkins will have a second MRI on his ailing left shoulder.

Our View: Perkins' first MRI was inconclusive, but Perkins has been placed on the DL with shoulder tendinitis. The shoulder has obviously affected his performance as he has an ERA well over 8.00 in his last seven starts.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 8/11, 11:46 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Glen Perkins has been placed on the 15-day DL with a left shoulder strain, according to the Associated Press. The club is yet to announce an adjoining move.

Our View: Perkins was dropped from the Twins' rotation after acquiring Carl Pavano via trade from Cleveland, and his fantasy outlook for the remainder of the season does not look bright after going 12-4 in 2008.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 8/11, 4:23 PM CT
Glen Perkins indicated that his MRI on his ailing left shoulder showed no immediate concerns, according to LaVelle E. Neal's (Star Tribune) twitter page.

Our View: This is encouraging, but Perkins added that there is still some investigating to do regarding his shoulder. He has been struggling on the mound, and the MRI was precautionary.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 8/10, 1:55 PM CT
Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting on his Twitter page that Twins' starter Glen Perkins is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday. The team hopes to have the results back before opening their next series against Kansas City.

Our View: Perkins has been awful as of late, so hopefully the MRI can tell the team exactly what it wrong. Perkins is out of the rotation for the time being, but the results of the test may determine if he stays out for the rest of the season. Either way, nobody should be owning Perkins at this point.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 8/2, 7:06 PM CT
Glen Perkins was destroyed by the Angels on Sunday. He was touched for nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits and a walk over just four innings. He took the loss as the Twins were battered to the tune of a 13-4 loss.

Our View: Since July 1st, Perkins has been miserable. He has just one quality start in his last five outing and is face to face with an ugly 5.95 ERA. He has allowed eight runs in two of his last three starts. It might be time to bench him.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 7/27, 11:06 PM CT
Glen Perkins bounced back with a quality start after getting annihilated in his previous won, improving to 6-6 after allowing three runs off six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in seven innings against the White Sox.

Our View: It was a nice night for Perkins, but he's still far too shaky and strikes out far to few batters to be considered an option in anything but the deepest AL-only leagues.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 7/23, 10:48 PM CT
It has been determined that Glen Perkins is dealing with tendinitis in his left shoulder, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Perkins will receive treatment on his ailing shoulder over the next few days, and believes he will be ready to make his next scheduled start Monday against Chicago. Perkins noted that he felt a lot better today.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/22, 5:49 PM CT
Glen Perkins was roughed up for eight earned runs on six hits over a lone inning of work in Wednesday's 16-1 loss at Oakland.

Our View: Perkins has given up 16 earned runs over his last three starts, and had another disappointing outing for fantasy owners after going 12-4 in 2008.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 7/17, 11:12 PM CT
Glen Perkins picked up the win on Friday as the Twins downed the Rangers by a score of 5-3. Perkins went five innings and allowed three runs on five hits while walking one and striking out four.

Our View: Perkins was just ok tonight, but his offense gave him enough to get a win. He is still a pretty solid fantasy play, so owners should keep running him out there every fifth day.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 7/11, 10:28 PM CT
Glen Perkins was rocked for five earned runs on eight hits over a mere 4.1 innings in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the rival White Sox at the Metrodome. He had two walks and one strikeout.

Our View: Perkins takes a loss for his poor outing, and now has a losing record at 4-5. He was a disappointment after only allowing one earned run in each of his previous two starts. Perkins is worth keeping active in fantasy leagues.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 7/10, 7:32 PM CT
Glen Perkins is slated to start Saturday's game against the White Sox, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: He was initially scheduled to pitch Friday, but was pushed back while dealing with a fever and sore throat. He will be a risky fantasy option, as the illness could potentially compromise his stamina and ability to pitch deep into the game.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 7/9, 12:23 PM CT
The Miami Herald is reporting that Twins' starter Glen Perkins arrived at the stadium still dealing with sickness on Thursday. He left to visit a doctor, and he is not going to be able to make his start on Friday. Nick Blackburn will move up in the rotation to start Friday night.

Our View: Perkins is getting tested for strep throat, and he was still in bad shape today. The team hopes he can be ready to go by Sunday, because they will need a spot starter if he isn't. We will keep you posted on his condition over the weekend.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/8, 2:59 PM CT
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Twins' scheduled starter Glen Perkins has been scratched from Wednesday night's game due to illness. He will be replaced on the mound by Anthony Swarzak.

Our View: Perkins is said to be running a high fever and feeling pretty bad, so he will be unable to go tonight. Swarzak will get in the nod in his place, so adjust your rosters accordingly. We will update you on when Perkins will be scheduled to start again.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/1, 5:08 PM CT
Glen Perkins only issued one earned run on 10 hits over seven innings in Wednesday's 5-1 win at Kansas City. He had no walks and one strikeout.

Our View: Perkins evens his record to 4-4, and has earned a win in back-to-back starts. He allowed two or less earned runs in three of his last four starts as well, and should be employed in fantasy lineups for his next trip to the hill.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 6/26, 11:43 PM CT
Glen Perkins was in control from the hill in Friday's 3-1 win at St. Louis, as he only issued one earned run on four hits over seven innings. He had no walks with three strikeouts.

Our View: Perkins bounced back well from his last outing when he gave up four runs in a loss to Houston. He has allowed two or less earned runs in two of his last three starts, and is worth penciling into fantasy lineups for his next turn in the Twins' rotation.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 6/21, 4:11 PM CT
Glen Perkins was rocked for four earned runs on nine hits over seven innings in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Astros at the Metrodome. He had one walk and one strikeout.

Our View: Perkins continues to be a disappointment this season, as his record falls to 2-4 and his ERA climbs to 5.10. He only has one win over his last seven starts.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 6/16, 10:37 PM CT
Glen Perkins was solid in his return from the DL (elbow inflammation), as he only gave up two earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Pirates at the Metrodome. He had one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: Perkins should be safe to employ in fantasy lineups again, evidenced by his performance tonight. This was his first start since May 18.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 6/15, 8:48 AM CT
The Star-Tribune reports that Glen Perkins will be activated from the 15-day DL on Tuesday. He has not piptched since May 18 when he allowed six runs in 0.2 innings at Yankee Stadium. He was placed on the DL with elbow inflammation following that start.

Our View: Hopefully Perkins can rebound strong from the injury, but don't invest much hope in him. He had an up and down season in 2008 which ended with a 4.41 ERA and 25 home runs in 151 innings of work.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 6/6, 9:07 AM CT
According to the Star-Tribune, Glen Perkins' elbow felt fine in his rehab start on Thursday.

Our View: Perkins felt good, but wasn't effective. He allowed five runs on six hits (including two homers) in his rehab start and will require at least one more before moving forward.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 6/4, 9:59 AM CT
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Glen Perkins will make a minor league rehab start for Single-A Fort Myers on Thursday. He will be on a 70-pitch limit, and he is expected to make a second start on Tuesday before being activated by the team.

Our View: Perkins was not very good before the injury, but fantasy owners may want to monitor him upon his return to the club. AL-only teams could possibly use him, but unless he is significantly better than he was early in the season, he will have no mixed league value.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 5/20, 2:41 PM CT
Pitching coach Rick Anderson said the Twins received good news on Glen Perkins, as there is nothing seriously wrong with his ailing left elbow, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: Perkins is expected to return to the Twins' rotation when eligible to come off the 15-day DL. He held a 5.36 ERA over eight starts prior to going down.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 5/18, 10:48 PM CT
The Sports Network reports that the Twins placed Glen Perkins on the 15-day DL after lasting just 0.2 innings against the Yankees on Monday night. He is dealing with left elbow inflammation. Sean Henn will take his spot on the roster.

Our View: After three starts this season, Perkins looked poised for a breakout campaign. However in his last five starts he has surrendered 24 runs in 23 innings. Something isn't right. Hopefully the injury does not turn out to be a serious one.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 5/18, 10:00 PM CT
Glen Perkins left Monday's start early, but he managed to give up seven hits, two home runs, and six earned runs before he hitting the showers.

Our View: What happens when a flyball pitcher goes to Yankee Stadium? Apparently he doesn't last very long. Perkins has allowed at least four runs in each of his last five starts. That's a total of 24 runs in 23 innings. Ouch! He went eight innings in his first three games of the season, but he has been a notch worse than terrible since then.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 5/14, 12:14 AM CT
Glen Perkins struggled again on Wednesday and did not factor into the decision in the Twins' 14-10 win. Perkins went 5.1 innings and allowed five runs on five hits while walking four and striking out four.

Our View: Perkins' numbers aren't terrible, but his fantasy value is still not great. He could be an option in deeper mixed leagues, but don't expect any huge strikeout games any time soon.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 5/2, 10:39 PM CT
Glen Perkins allowed five earned runs on 10 hits over six innings in Saturday's 10-7 loss to the Royals at the HHH Metrodome. He fired four strikeouts with no walks.

Our View: The Twins had a 6-5 lead when he exited the game, and was dealt a no-decision rather than a loss. Perkins only has one win over five starts, and collected exactly four strikeouts in every outing.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 4/26, 3:24 PM CT
Glen Perkins had his worst outing of the year on Sunday, going five innings and allowing four runs on seven hits. He struck out four and walked two, taking the loss for the Twins.

Our View: Perkins has been a pleasant surprise so far this season but he is only 1-2 on the year. His ERA is at 2.48 after this start, so his numbers are still very good, but he will most likely have more starts like this.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 4/19, 5:56 PM CT
Glen Perkins tossed eight strong innings as the Twins beat the Angels 3-1 on Sunday. He allowed four hits, a walk, and an earned run, while striking out four.

Our View: Perkins is having a solid start to the season as he has allowed only four runs through 24 innings. He is not a strike out pitcher, but he limits his base runners and goes deep into games. One of the bigger concerns with Perkins is whether he can stay strong down the stretch.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 4/14, 11:53 PM CT
Glen Perkins was denied a win for the second straight start despite pitching brilliantly once again. He allowed just two runs on seven hits and a walk over eight innings as the Twins eventually won 3-2 in the 11th.

Our View: Two quality starts, only three runs allowed in 16 innings and nothing to show for it. Perkins could be a nice pick up if you're looking for a starter. He won't help much in strikeout-heavy leagues, but could be a good innings eater with a quality ERA.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 4/9, 3:18 PM CT
Glen Perkins only allowed one earned run on five hits over eight innings in Thursday's 2-0 loss to the Mariners at the HHH Metrodome, with two walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: It was a solid season debut for Perkins, but he was dealt a loss due to no offensive help from his teammates. He only lost four times over 26 starts in 2008.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 3/30, 5:41 PM CT
Glen Perkins had another strong outing as Minnesota beat the Rays 3-2 on Monday. He allowed four hits, a walk, and no runs while striking out four batters through six innings.

Our View: Perkins does not get many strikeouts, but he is taken deep often. In 151 innings last season, he allowed 25 home runs. He does not walk many batters, but he may want to consider pitching out of the strike zone more often as he allowed 183 hits in those 151 innings. He may be worth a look in AL-only formats, but there's not much reason to think he will be an effective starter for the next six months.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 3/30, 9:35 AM CT
Glen Perkins will make his sixth spring start today against the Rays, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: Perkins holds a solid 2.25 ERA so far, and is worth a look as a flier for AL-only leagues with the rising Twins.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 3/20, 3:52 PM CT
Glen Perkins threw five scoreless innings, with only one hit allowed, in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Yankees. He had one walk and one strikeout.

Our View: Perkins has pitched well so far in spring training, and is worth targeting as a flier for AL-only leagues.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 3/15, 6:58 PM CT
Glen Perkins allowed three earned runs on five hits over three innings as the Twins fell 5-1 to the Yankees on Sunday.

Our View: He had given up just two earned runs in his first 12 innings this spring. However, he has remained hittable throughout it all, with 16 hits over 15 innings. He won't walk many hitters, but he'll give up far too many home runs in the process. The 26-year-old is a mediocre option and not nearly as good as his 12-4 record suggests.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 3/6, 2:46 PM CT
Glen Perkins hurled four scoreless innings, with only one hit allowed, in Friday's 3-0 win over the Reds, with two walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Perkins is now 2-0 this spring and is yet to allow an earned run. Perkins will not be a viable source for strikeouts and had trouble keeping the ball in the park last season making his upside, and therefore outlook, less than spectacular.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 9/26, 10:24 AM CT
Glen Perkins will start Saturday for the Twins against the Royals and he is encouraged that the extra rest he was given will allow him to come out strong, according to The Star Tribune.

Our View: Perkins has looked awful in September with a 9.42 ERA in 14.1 innings, so even if he says he feels better he is a huge question mark heading into his final start.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 9/19, 7:46 PM CT
The Twins have altered their rotation according to the Chicago Tribune. The move was made to avoid starting Glen Perkins against the White Sox next week. "We need to give [Perkins] a little bit of a mental break here," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire told the Star-Tribune.

Our View: Perkins is 0-1 with a 9.42 ERA in four September starts. Prior to this month, he had fantasyvalue in deep leagues or AL only formats. It appears that he has run out of gas, though.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 9/15, 8:21 AM CT
Glen Perkins will take the hill Thursday at Tampa Bay, according to the Star Tribune. As previously reported, Scott Baker will pitch Wednesday on short rest.

Our View: He has been struggling to protect leads as of late, and the team does not want to push him after missing half of the 2007 campaign with a shoulder injury. He has already pitched 145.1 innings this season, and appears to be wearing down.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 9/13, 11:00 PM CT
Glen Perkins was rocked for six earned runs on five hits over a mere three innings of work in Saturday's 12-6 win over Baltimore in the nightcap of the doubleheader, with two walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Perkins was dealt a no decision and is now winless over his last three starts, allowing 13 earned runs over the span. He went 4-0 over five starts in August, and looks to be wearing down, as he has pitched 145.1 innings this season, and only 28.2 in 2007.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 9/7, 4:45 PM CT
Minnesota's Glen Perkins lost just his fourth game of the year by allowing five runs (three earned) in 5.2 innings in the Twins 7-5 loss to the Tigers.

Our View: Despite his stellar record, Perkins has an ERA of 4.11, and has given up at least four runs in four of his last five starts.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 9/2, 9:15 PM CT
Twins pitcher Glen Perkins got a no-decision, but his team took the loss, 7-5, to the Blue Jays. Perkins went five innings and gave up four runs.

Our View: Perkins has struggled a bit lately, having given up eight earned runs in his last 12 innings pitched. He is a decent fantasy option, but his K/9 rate is average, as is his WHIP. Still, 12 wins are hard to ignore.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 9/2, 11:49 AM CT
Glen Perkins is shooting for this fifth straight win tonight against the Jays. The southpaw has worked eight shutout innings in two of his last four starts, and he's thrown at least six innings in each of his last 11 games, going 8-1 with a 3.56 ERA.

Our View: Perkins doesn't have the necessary K rate, nor the ground ball percentage to trump his 2.26 BB ratio, so expect his nice run of luck to end. While it might not happen tonight against a Toronto offense that is playing more to a National League style, Perkins is due for some regression.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 8/27, 7:31 PM CT
The Twins had to fight to get the runs, but they found a way to win, emerging 6-5 over the Mariners. LHP Glen Perkins showed them the way, pitching seven innings to allow four runs (all earned) on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: The win brings Perkins to an amazing 12-3 on the season, sporting a 3.96 ERA to boot. It is his fourth consecutive win, a span in which he's totaled 29 innings with eight combined earned runs allowed with seven walks and 11 strikeouts.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 8/22, 11:54 PM CT
Glen Perkins picked up his 11th win against just three losses, throwing eight shutout innings to lead Minnesota to a 9-0 win over L.A.

Our View: Perkins ERA went down to 3.90 on the night, and while his K/BB rate still isn't spectacular, he still manages to get the job done for fantasy owners.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 8/11, 10:58 PM CT
Glen Perkins, making his first start since having a child, held the Yankees scoreless for eight innings in his ninth victory of the season.

Our View: Perkins completely baffled the Yankees on this night with a series of offspeed pitches that limited the Bronx Bombers to only four hits and three walks. Perkins has won seven of his last eight decisions and continues to give his mates a shot at victory in most outings with a decent 4.07 ERA.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 8/11, 1:43 PM CT
Glen Perkins will make tonight’s scheduled start against the Yankees after tending to the birth of his second child, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: Perkins left the Twins on Sunday in Kansas City to be with his wife, Alisha, who had gone into labor in the Twin Cities. Nick Blackburn was prepared to start in Perkins’ place tonight, but indication from the Metrodome today is that all went well with the birth.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 8/11, 10:41 AM CT
According to the Star Tribune, the Twins left-hander Glen Perkins has left the team because his wife has gone into labor. Nick Blackburn is expected to be moved up and start tonight versus the Yankees and Perkins moved back for a Tuesday start.

Our View: This vaults Blackburn into a two-start role this week rather than Perkins.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 7/29, 10:35 PM CT
The White Sox put up a fight late, but the 6-5 loss came nonetheless as the Twins found just enough offense to get the win. Minnesota LHP Glen Perkins was the man in charge on the mound, going six innings to allow four runs (all earned) on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: The win brings Perkins to 8-3 on the season with a 4.20 ERA. He is 4-1 through July and 6-1 over his last eight starts. He is not overpowering anyone, but he's good for six innings each time he hits the mound and puts his team in position to win.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/23, 4:31 PM CT
Glen Perkins gave up eight hits and a walk on his way to five runs allowed over six innings in his third loss of the season.

Our View: This was Perkins worst effort since May 30th. Perkins may not dazzle in most outings, but he continues to be a serviceable depth starter in deep mixed leagues, albeit one with a dearth of strikeouts (just 46 in 90.1 IP).
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 7/18, 10:16 PM CT
Minnesota LHP Glen Perkins continues to enjoy a great campaign, putting the Rangers to bed in a dominating performance for a 6-0 shutout win. Perkins pitched six innings, allowing just three hits with three walks and one strikeout.

Our View: Perkins now sits at 7-2 on the season with a 3.84 ERA, touting five wins over his last six starts with a no-decision mixed into that span.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsMonday 7/14, 8:26 AM CT
Glen Perkins is slated to start Friday against the Rangers, as he is working on six days' rest, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: He will be followed by righthanders Livan Hernandez, Scott Baker, Nick Blackburn and Kevin Slowey, who is nursing a finger infection. Slowey was moved to the back of the rotation as a precaution.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsFriday 7/11, 9:18 PM CT
Glen Perkins brought his A game to Detroit on Friday. He allowed just two runs in 6.2 innings to move to 6-2 on the year.

Our View: Perkins has not given up more than three runs since June 4. His WHIP is unimpressive but he manages to scatter the runners around enough to keep the Twins in games. He'a risky fantasy bet, but worth considering in very deep leagues.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 7/6, 5:35 PM CT
Glen Perkins earned his fifth win of the season over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday. He scattered seven hits and one walk while giving up three earned runs on the day.

Our View: He has three wins in his last four starts. He's not a force in fantasy leagues and is probably a free agent in most, however, he is worth keeping an eye on as the Twins have played excellently over the past month.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/2, 10:24 AM CT
Detroit manager Jim Leyland is convinced Twins left-hander Glen Perkins intentionally threw at Carlos Guillen during the first inning of Monday night's game in Minnesota, this according to the Star Tribune . "We thought Guillen had been thrown at," Leyland said. "Only we threw ours low, and they threw theirs high -- right at a guy's head -- and it went all the way to the backstop on the fly. So that's my message.

Our View: When a guy is 4-for-5 (home run and two doubles) off a pitcher and that hitters gets one high and tight at the head -- chances are a message is being sent. Perkins told reporters after the game that he didn't realize how close the pitch came to Guillen's head until after he saw replays.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 6/26, 12:04 AM CT
Glen Perkins certainly wasn't at his best against the Padres but he pitched well enough to pick up his fourth victory of the season as he held the Padres to three runs in five innings.

Our View: Perkins ERA crept up slightly to 4.47 with this effort, but it was still the fourth straight time that he permitted exactly three earned runs. He is a nice injury fill in, but his soft tossing ways just don't mark him as a desirable commodity.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsThursday 6/19, 3:31 PM CT
Glen Perkins surrendered three earned runs on 10 hits over eight innings in Thursday's 9-3 win over Washington, with one walk and two strikeouts. One of the runs came on a Dmitri Young solo shot.

Our View: Perkins has allowed nine homers over nine starts, and has given up at least three earned runs in five straight.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSaturday 6/14, 10:14 PM CT
Minnesota LHP Glen Perkins had a strong outing on the mound tonight in support of the 9-4 win over Milwaukee, pitching six innings to allow three runs (all earned) on eight hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

Our View: Perkins has struggled a bit with home runs allowed but tonight was one of his best outings thus far.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 6/4, 10:21 PM CT
Glen Perkins was only able to last four innings in his Wednesday night start against the Orioles. The left-hander allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits, walked two and struck out two.

Our View: This is the second straight start where Perkins has lasted but four innings. His last was against a Yankees offense that typically struggles against left-handers. Needless to say Perkins' future in the rotation could hinge on his Monday start in hitter-friendly Comerica Park against the White Sox. Not a favorable venue for a struggling pitcher.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 5/25, 3:02 PM CT
Glen Perkins improved to 2-1 for the season in Sunday's 6-1 win over Detroit at Comerica. Perkins only allowed one run on seven hits over 7.2 innings of work, with two walks and four strikeouts. The only run came on a Carlos Guillen home run.

Our View: We recommended starting him for today, and he did not disappoint. He has now only allowed five total earned runs over his last three outings.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 5/25, 11:31 AM CT
Lefty Glen Perkins is on the hill versus the Tigers in Detroit today, according to MLB.com. Perkins is 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA over three career appearances against Detroit.

Our View: Perkins holds a solid 1.20 WHIP over three starts this season, and only allowed two earned runs in each of his last two outings, with nine total strikeouts. He is worth starting in your roto-rotation today.
Glen Perkins, P, Minnesota TwinsTuesday 5/20, 10:41 PM CT
Glen Perkins pitched six scoreless innings for his first major league win and the Minnesota Twins beat the Texas Rangers 11-4 on Tuesday.

Our View: Yet another high scoring affair where Texas is involved. Not only did the Rangers make it easy on Perkins, early errors put the Rangers in catchup mode before the end of the first inning and completely out of reach after the third.

Glen Perkins will be looking to earn his first win of the season when the Twins host the Rangers tonight, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Perkins is 0-1 over two starts, but has fared well as he holds a decent 1.33 WHIP over 12 innings, with nine strikeouts and only two walks issued. He is worth a look if you need an arm to fill out your rotation for tonight, namely in deeper leagues.

Glen Perkins had his second straight quality start allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings against the Blue Jays.

Our View: Perkins is holding a rotation spot until Francisco Liriano and Scott Baker are healthy, but if he keeps pitching like this, maybe he will hang on for a while. Perkins is still a bit of a risk in mixed leagues though, so tread with caution.

The suffered a rough 5-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox, giving LHP Glen Perkins , who put forth a valiant but tainted effort, his first loss of the season. Perkins pitched six innings, allowing three runs (all earned) on nine hits, walking none and striking out three.

Our View: It was the three homers surrendered that did the Twins in, and for that, Perkins gets his first loss on his first start of the season.

Glen Perkins will be called up from Triple-A and start tonight against Boston, according to TwinkieTown.com. He replaces Pat Neshek, who is likely out for the season with a serious elbow injury.

Our View: Perkins held a 1.22 WHIP over 28.2 innings of work in 2007, with 20 strikeouts. He is worth a look if you need help in AL-only leagues, but he draws a tough assignment against a tough Boston lineup.

Glen Perkins has been tabbed to come up from Triple-A and start on Saturday against the Red Sox, the Minneapolis Star Tribune confirms.

Our View: The southpaw is 2-1 with a 2.97 ERA at Triple-A this year, and he did a decent job out of the Twins bullpen last year. AL-only fantasy leaguers may take a look, but we're not counting on him to hold down a potent Red Sox lineup.

Glen Perkins is the most logical candidate to replace the injured Scott Baker in the Twins rotation, if in fact Baker isn't able to take his turn this week. Baker's threw a two-hitter to win his first game of the season a week ago Saturday for Triple-A Rochester. He allowed one walk and struck out seven.

Our View: Currently, we have Perkins starting for Baker and following Kevin Slowey with a Friday start against Dice-K and Boston.

Glen Perkins threw a two-hitter to win his first game of the season on Saturday for Triple-A Rochester. He allowed one walk and struck out seven.

Our View: Perkins has been wild this season with 15 walks in 28 innings, but his ERA is down to 2.89. The lefty has excellent stuff, but we probably won’t see him as a starter in the majors this season due to Rochester’s strong set of arms. Plus, many see Perkins as a reliever in the majors.

Glen Perkins goal on Thursday was to make it through his outing without getting hurt, and in that respect he was successful. However, his performance was less than impressive as he allowed four hits and three runs in one inning. Perkins appears on track to possibly make the team in the bullpen, but it looks like he might end up being sent back to the minors to work on building up more arm strength in his shoulder.

He likely won't even pick up a ball for a couple of weeks, which means it's no longer certain that he will even be available for the Twins until late this season, if at all.
