Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 6/12, 6:22 PM CT
Anthony Reyes underwent ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery on his throwing elbow by Dr. Lewis Yocum in California today, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Regular recovery time for the surgery is 12-18 months. Reyes dealt will elbow issues in 2008 as well, and should now be dropped from fantasy rosters.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 6/10, 5:50 PM CT
MLB.com reports that starter Anthony Reyes will undergo an ulnar nerve transposition surgery on Friday and if the surgeon discovers the ligament needs replaced, he will perform Tommy John Surgery as well.

Our View: Even if he avoids Tommy John surgery, he is still expected to miss four to six months, meaning his 2009 season is over. If he has to have the additional surgery, he will not be able to pitch again for a year.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 6/7, 8:51 AM CT
Anthony Reyes remains undecided regarding whether to have elbow surgery, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Reyes visited Dr. James Andrews in Alabama, and the Indians have advised Reyes to undergo surgery. Either way, Reyes likely threw his last pitch of 2009.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 5/31, 11:13 AM CT
According to MLB.com, Indians' pitcher Anthony Reyes is set to visit Dr. Lewis Yocum to get a second opinion on his right elbow. Reyes was placed on the 60-day DL by the Indians earlier this week.

Our View: The second opinion seems to be a formality at this point, and it looks like Reyes is done for this season. He will most likely require an ulnar nerve transposition, which will end his 2009 campaign. Feel free to drop him in all leagues if you haven't done so already.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 5/28, 10:50 AM CT
Anthony Reyes has been transferred to the 60-day DL by the Indians, according to TSN.

Our View: Reyes is dealing with right elbow inflammation that may require season-ending surgery. The move to the 60-day DL makes surgery seem more likely.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansMonday 5/25, 6:54 PM CT
Anthony Reyes is likely to have surgery on his elbow which could cost him the rest of the season, according to MLB.com. An ulnar nerve transposition was recommended for the starter.

Our View: Reyes has no fantasy value, despite his once lauded potential. He will not be missed in fantasy leagues and will have to battle for his spot on the staff next season.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 5/23, 11:38 AM CT
Anthony Reyes has been placed on the 15-day DL after exiting Friday's start with inflammation in his right elbow, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Rich Rundles was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to fill his spot on the roster.

Our View: Reyes won't be missed in fantasy leagues, as he was only 1-1 over eight starts, with a poor 6.57 ERA. He is yet to last more than six innings in any of his outings as well.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 5/22, 8:22 PM CT
Anthony Reyes left Friday night's game with an inflamed pitching elbow, according to the AP. Before he left the game he walked six batters but only allowed one run against the Reds.

Our View: If Reyes lands on the DL, look for Aaron Laffey to rejoin the rotation. Reyes has been awful in 2009 and he holds no fantasy value.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 5/15, 11:56 PM CT
Anthony Reyes was decent on Friday, but his bullpen couldn't hold the lead as the Indians lost to the Rays 8-7. Reyes went 5.1 innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits while walking one and striking out four.

Our View: Reyes had a 7-0 lead at one point tonight, but he and the rest of the bullpen blew it. Reyes hasn't been very good this season and is probably only worth considering in AL-only leagues at best.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 5/10, 3:36 PM CT
Anthony Reyes picked up his first loss of the year on Sunday as the Indians fell to the Tigers 5-3. Reyes lasted five innings and gave up five runs on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Reyes has not been sharp in his six starts this season, so it is a bit surprising that he got his first loss today. His ERA is at 7.20, and while he was once a sleeper pick in fantasy drafts, he has little value now. Stay away unless he turns it around.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 4/23, 2:19 PM CT
Anthony Reyes allowed two earned runs on four hits over six innings in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Royals at Progressive Field. He issued four walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: The Indians were trailing 2-1 when he exited the game, and his teammates rallied to score four runs in the eighth inning to bail him out with a no-decision rather than taking a loss. Other than the four free passes, it was a good outing for Reyes.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 4/17, 4:10 PM CT
Anthony Reyes did not factor in the decision for the Indians in their 6-5 loss to the Yankees on Friday. He went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits. He also walked three and struck out one.

Our View: Reyes did not pitch all that bad today. All three of the runs he gave up were solo home runs, which brings his home runs allowed total to four in 11 innings. That's a little high, but Reyes may be worth a pickup if the Indians start hitting the ball like they are capable.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 4/12, 9:06 PM CT
Anthony Reyes picked up a win in his first start of the season as the Indians put away the Blue Jays 8-4 on Sunday. The starter allowed four runs on three hits, three walks, and two strikeouts in six innings of work.

Our View: Reyes was hardly impressive, but he got good run support and a solid performance from his bullpen to earn him the win. He's still a very iffy fantasy option.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 4/2, 7:15 PM CT
Anthony Reyes was ripped for seven runs on five hits in just two innings Thursday versus the Cubs.

Our View: Reyes, who has been anointed the Tribe's fifth starter, was making only his third spring start. Inconsistency has been his trademark throughout his career, so he may not be worth a look in most mixed leagues, at least not until he shows he can log some innings.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 4/2, 9:05 AM CT
Anthony Reyes will start today's Cactus League game against the Cubs, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Reyes has been solid so far in the spring with a 0.75 ERA over 12 innings, with two walks and seven strikeouts. Reyes will be the Indians' No. 5 starter in the rotation, and is worth a look as a flier for AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 3/29, 10:18 AM CT
Anthony Reyes will serve as the fifth starter in the Indians' rotation, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Reyes never panned out as a top prspect for the Cardinals, but the 27-year-old still has a chance to make an impact with the Indians this season. He is worth targeting as a late-round flier.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 3/21, 8:32 PM CT
Anthony Reyes had another stellar spring outing on Saturday. He tossed five scoreless innings of two-hit ball and struck out two. He lowered his spring ERA to a scant 0.75.

Our View: The new and improved Anthony Reyes is what Cardinal fans were hoping for the last five years. He came on like gangbusters with the Indians down the stretch last year and has sparkled thus far in spring. Wait and see if he falls apart, but the Cardinal cast off looks to be reborn.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 3/21, 8:57 AM CT
Anthony Reyes will start today's game against the Dodgers, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Reyes is competing for a spot near the back of the Indians' rotation. He did not pan out as a top prospect with the Cardinals, but he pitched well down the stretch for the Indians in 2008, and would be worth a look as a flier for AL-only leagues if he is named a starting pitcher.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 3/10, 12:27 PM CT
Anthony Reyes is the favorite to earn the No. 4 spot in the Indians' rotation, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: The Cardinals gave up on him as a former top prospect, but he would still be worth a look as a flier for AL-only leagues if he makes the Indians' rotation.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 2/22, 1:07 PM CT
The Indians signed Anthony Reyes to a one-year deal on Sunday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Reyes has been inconsistent throughout his entire career, which is why the Cardinals sent him to Cleveland last year. Since making a great start in Game 1 of the 2006 World Series, he hasn't been very valuable in fantasy or reality.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 2/8, 12:34 PM CT
Anthony Reyes threw at 70 percent in the Arizona Instructional League after sitting out September with a sore right elbow, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: The club does not expect him to break down in 2009, but are not certain. He will be competing for a spot at the back of the Indians' rotation in spring training, and would be worth a look in AL-only leagues. He has a poor track record with durability, but can pitch well when healthy.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 2/1, 10:22 AM CT
The Boston Globe points out that pitcher Anthony Reyes is out of minor league options, meaning the Indians will likely find a place for him in their rotation or try and deal him.

Our View: If they try to send him back to the minors, he would almost certainly be claimed by a team short on pitching. Reyes threw very well for the Indians late in the season prior to suffering an inflamed elbow. He has a history of nagging injuries.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 9/28, 10:16 AM CT
Anthony Reyes, who is dealing with an inflamed elbow, will be shut down for 30 days, then begin throwing, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Our View: An MRI showed no structural damage, and team officials are not expecting major problems. If healthy, he could challenge for a rotation spot in 2009.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 9/18, 10:37 AM CT
Anthony Reyes received his MRI results which showed no major issues with his sore right elbow, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: He has already been shut down for the remainder of the season, but will not require surgery. Reyes looks to compete for a rotation spot in 2009.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 9/16, 5:34 PM CT
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Anthony Reyes has been shut down for the rest of the season with right elbow soreness. "There's no sense in pushing it. He did a fantastic job. He showed us what we needed to see. We need to do everything we can to make sure he's healthy for the start of next year," said manager Eric Wedge.

Our View: Reyes had done very well for the Indians after being acquired from the Cardinals in August. However, his laundry list of injuries continues to get longer and it remains to be seen if he will ever make it through a season without seeing the DL.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 9/11, 7:03 PM CT
Anthony Reyes will miss one more start as he is still getting over his right elbow soreness, according to MLB.com. "We'll give [Reyes] a couple days off," manager Eric Wedge said, "then have him throw a bullpen [session] early next week." The team is hopeful that Reyes will be available to pitch around September 20th.

Our View: As a result of this news, Scott Lewis, who threw eight scoreless innings against the Orioles in his first start replacing Reyes, will take the next open turn in the rotation on Monday. He is worth a look in AL-only leagues in his matchup against the Twins.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 9/11, 11:14 AM CT
Anthony Reyes, who is recovering from right elbow soreness, threw a bullpen session Wednesday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: It remains unclear if he will regain his spot in the Indians' rotation upon his return. Reyes was supposed to start Wednesday night against the Orioles, but was replaced by Scott Lewis. Manager Eric Wedge will base his status on how he feels over the next couple of days.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 9/9, 11:01 PM CT
Anthony Reyes played catch on Monday and Tuesday and will throw a bullpen session on Wednesday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. He will miss his scheduled start on Wednesday due to a sore elbow, but Reyes is reportedly feeling better.

Our View: It sounds like Reyes may be able to make his next scheduled start, which should be Monday against the Twins.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 9/6, 8:00 PM CT
Anthony Reyes will likely miss his Wednesday start at Baltimore because of a sore elbow according to ESPN.com. The right-hander left his start Friday at Kansas City after three scoreless innings and 39 pitches due to elbow stiffness.

Our View: Reyes said his elbow felt better on Saturday, but the Indians will likely be cautious because of his prior elbow problems. He was on the St. Louis Cardinals disabled list earlier this season with an elbow injury. The elbow was "a little stiff" warming up Friday, Reyes said. "I tried to do everything I could to loosen up, but it just wasn't happening. We're just being cautious and trying not to push it too much. It felt pretty good my last few starts. This is kind of a new thing." Reyes is 2-1 with a 1.83 ERA in six starts with the Indians since being acquired in a July 26 trade with the Cardinals.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 9/5, 9:08 PM CT
Anthony Reyes left tonight's game after three innings with a sore right elbow according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Reyes, working with a 2-0 lead, seemed to be cruising, but didn't come out for the fourth inning on a cool night at Kauffman Stadium.

Our View: Its unclear if he will miss his next start. He had been doing excellent with his new team prior to this injury.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 9/4, 12:39 PM CT
The Cleveland Indians are reaping the rewards of the St. Louis Cardinals basically handing them pitcher Anthony Reyes, as he sported an ERA of 2.01 in August, the eighth best in all of baseball for the month, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: The Cardinals have a certainly philosophy that includes pitchers needing to throw a two-seam fastball and get ground balls. Reyes does not do that well, and he never clicked in the organization, as they failed to adapt to what they had. They received a minor league reliever for Reyes, who certainly has fantasy value the way he is throwing.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 8/24, 10:26 PM CT
Anthony Reyes had yet another great start for the Cleveland Indians, his fourth since the Cardinals basically gave him away to Cleveland. The right-hander went seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits in the Indians 4-3 win over Texas.

Our View: Reyes has clearly become someone fantasy owners should be snatching up. Four starts in a row is solid enough evidence that he should be effective the rest of the year.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 8/19, 9:30 PM CT
Anthony Reyes continues to like life in AL. He improved to 2-1 with a decent effort against the Royals on Tuesday. Reyes allowed six hits and two runs over 5.0 innings.

Our View: Reyes is only three starts into his AL career, so we're not getting too excited. He's worth using in AL-only leagues and maybe in large mixed leagues if the matchup looks promising.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 8/13, 9:18 PM CT
Cleveland couldn't get the offense going this evening, falling 6-1 to the Orioles to waste a strong outing from RHP Anthony Reyes. Reyes pitched six innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on six hits with two walks and no strikeouts.

Our View: Reyes falls to 3-2 with the loss, touting an ERA of 3.67. In his two starts since returning to the Indians, Reyes has gone six innings and allowed just three combined earned runs. He appears to be on track to contribute, but the Indians need to find offense to support his cause.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 8/8, 9:43 PM CT
Anthony Reyes made the most of his first appearance with the Indians as he limited the Jays to a lone run over 6.1 innings in his first victory of the season.

Our View: Reyes looked nothing like the pitcher we saw in St. Louis the past couple of years as he was efficient allowing one walk and needing just 88 pitches on the night. He obviously earned himself another start with this outing.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 8/6, 4:37 PM CT
The Indians will recall Anthony Reyes from Triple-A Buffalo to start Friday against the Blue Jays, according to SportsTicker. Matt Ginter will be placed on the DL to make room on the roster.

Our View: Friday is supposed to be Paul Byrd's turn in the rotation. Perhaps the Tribe is working on a post-deadline deal involving Byrd, or maybe they'll just push him back a day. Reyes is worth a shot in AL-only leagues.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansMonday 8/4, 6:52 PM CT
Anthony Reyes will likely join the Indians starting rotation at some point this season, and it could be fairly soon, according to Indians.com. He threw well in his last outing, throwing eight innings and giving up one run. "His fastball was consistently at 92-94 [mph]. The thing he's done in both outings is maintain his fastball velocity throughout," Indians pitching coach Carl Willis said.

Our View: Reyes has a great deal of talent, and he was never quite as bad as his record last season in St. Louis would indicate, as he got little run support. Reyes has won a World Series game, and it is entirely possible he could turn his career around in Cleveland. Think about picking him up, at least in AL-only leagues, when he gets recalled.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 7/26, 2:28 PM CT
The Cleveland Indians have acquired pitcher Anthony Reyes from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for minor league pitcher Luis Perdomo, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: The 26-year-old Reyes has split this season between the Cardinals' bullpen and the starting rotation at Triple-A Memphis. The right-hander was on St. Louis' opening day roster and went 2-1 with a save in 10 relief appearances. He was placed on the disabled list in June with a sprained right elbow. Perdomo has made nine appearances at Double-A Akron. The 24-year-old began the season at Class-A Kinston.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 7/5, 3:15 PM CT
The Cardinals optioned Anthony Reyes to Triple-A Memphis on Saturday, MLB.com reports. He was presumably activated off the DL before this move. Reyes had been out due to a strained right elbow.

Our View: Reyes was already in Memphis for his rehab assignment. For once, this hurler doesn't have to pack his bags and get on a plane.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 7/3, 7:33 AM CT
Anthony Reyes allowed one run in 2.1 innings during his rehab start at Triple-A Memphis. Reyes is recovering from an elbow strain.

Our View: Reyes will likely stay in Memphis barring another injury to the Cardinals rotation.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 6/19, 7:21 AM CT
Anthony Reyes has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a strained right elbow, according to the AP. Reyes said, "I knew there was something there, but I didn’t think it was serious. I think it’s more precautionary than anything. They don’t want me starting a game knowing it’s going to be in there in the back of my mind."

Our View: Brad Thompson will now start against Kansas City Thursday. Thompson has been on the DL since April 23 with an elbow injury.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 6/18, 7:17 PM CT
The Cardinals' team website is reporting that Anthony Reyes' scheduled start on Thursday afternoon is in question due to some discomfort and inflammation in his right elbow. Reyes downplayed the condition on Wednesday and said he expects to start, but manager Tony La Russa allowed for more uncertainty.

Our View: Reyes said he has been dealing with the issue since his second start at Triple-A Memphis, on May 15. He competed for the Cardinals' starting rotation in Spring Training, but instead made the club as a reliever. After his workload and effectiveness both dwindled, Reyes was sent to Memphis to start.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 6/17, 6:11 PM CT
Manager Tony La Russa will hold back Anthony Reyes "as much as we can" over the next two games in anticipation of Reyes starting Thursday in place of the injured Todd Wellemeyer, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Reyes picked up the win for the Cards on Sunday, pitching a scoreless 10th inning in relief.

Our View: Reyes was pitching well at Triple-A before his recall, holding a 3.28 ERA and 31/14 K/BB rate in 35 2/3 innings. But then again, he always pitches well at Triple-A and usually struggles in the big leagues. Wellemeyer is expected back next week, so this is expected to be just a spot start for the righty.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 6/14, 3:30 PM CT
The Cardinals brought up Anthony Reyes on Saturday, the AP reports. He was 1-2 with a 3.28 ERA over seven starts at Triple-A Memphis.

Our View: The Cards rotation is in a bit of disrepair right now, but we're not yet certain if Reyes will start or work in long relief. Regardless, his major league resume should cause fantasy owners to be skeptical.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 5/8, 10:57 AM CT
Anthony Reyes has been on the Rockies' radar as a possible trade option for their struggling rotation, according to Rocky Mountain News. The Rockies are also interested in Josh Fogg of Cincinnati and Julian Tavarez of Boston. They need a starter for Sunday, as Mark Redman has been demoted to the pen due to disappointing play.

Our View: Reyes is 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 14.2 innings. He would benefit from a change of scenery in Colorado, but wouldn't likely serve as the stable starter the team is looking for.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 5/4, 8:04 PM CT
The Cardinals demoted Anthony Reyes to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Reyes will return to a starting role in the minors.

Our View: At this point, the best thing for Reyes may be a trade. He hasn't been able to make it work with the Cardinals, and we have to wonder if the organization has him screwed up in the head.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 5/2, 8:53 AM CT
It is well known that the Cardinals have made Anthony Reyes available via trade, ESPN's Jayson Stark notes. However, clubs have become frustrated with St. Louis' high asking price, which is reportedly an upper-echelon prospect, plus another piece. "I think the guy is salvageable," said an executive of one interested team. "But that's got to be proven, too. So I think they don't quite understand what they have. We're talking about a guy who is [9-24], with a [5.46] ERA. So the asking price is pretty frigging high."

Our View: Reyes has been good with the Cards this year in relief despite a high ERA, posting an 8/1 K/BB rate and 1.29 WHIP over 11 2/3 innings. Many teams could use him in their rotation, but the Cards appear willing to keep him in the pen for the time being. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Joe Strauss said that the Braves and Angels have been scouting the Cards lately, presumably because of their interest in Reyes.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 4/12, 7:37 PM CT
Anthony Reyes picked up the first save of his career on Saturday as he pitched the 10th inning of the Cardinals victory over the Giants.

Our View: With Jason Insringhasuen off to a great start to the season, Reyes figures to only pick up the rare save opportunity so don't go scrambling to the waiver-wire to find him.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 4/8, 9:52 PM CT
Anthony Reyes was terrific out of the bullpen for the Cardinals Tuesday, allowing just one hit while striking out one over three scoreless innings to pick up a win. The righty lost out on a rotation spot this spring, but at the worst, he's pitching his way into an integral role with solid relief work.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 4/4, 8:31 AM CT
Anthony Reyes had no problem in his first outing as a reliever. In fact, he struck out all three batters he faced as he worked a perfect eighth inning on Thursday. "It was fun. It was my first time this year. All those guys down there, it’s a different game in the bullpen," Reyes tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 3/26, 12:25 PM CT
Anthony Reyes will make the Cardinals' opening day roster as a long reliever, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Reyes had a good spring, posting a 3.32 ERA and 13/3 K/BB rate over 19 innings, but he lost out on a rotation spot to Brad Thompson. The Post notes that at least 10 teams were scouting Reyes when he twirled six shutout innings Tuesday, so it's possible he could be dealt before the opener.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 3/26, 10:19 AM CT
Anthony Reyes will not win a spot in the Cards rotation, and the team now has to decide if he will return to Triple-A or work out of the big league bullpen, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. The news means that Brad Thompson and Todd Wellemeyer will occupy the final two rotation spots to start the year.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 3/25, 7:17 PM CT
Anthony Reyes made a great case for earning a spot in the Cardinals rotation on Tuesday, when he worked six scoreless innings. Reyes allowed just three hits and a walk, while striking out two Nats. He's battling Brad Thompson and Todd Wellemeyer for the final two spots, though the eventual return of Mark Mulder and Joel Pineiro should tighten things up as the season progresses. If he doesn't earn a starting role with the Cards, he could be dealt or continue starting for Triple-A Memphis.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansMonday 3/17, 4:11 PM CT
Anthony Reyes threw four scoreless innings against the Braves on Monday, with three hits allowed and two strikeouts. He is battling for a bottom of the rotation job, and this was a good day for him.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 3/12, 11:13 PM CT
Anthony Reyes gave up three runs on six hits and a walk in four innings Wednesday, but he also struck out six in the outing and came away pleased with how he pitched. “I feel like every time I go out there I’m getting more confident and the strikeouts are going up a little bit,” Reyes said in the AP. “I think it’s starting to come together a little bit and the more I go out there, the sharper I’m going to get.” Reyes had a dreadful 2007 season, but he still has lots of ability and could be a good bargain late in a draft.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 3/9, 2:28 PM CT
Anthony Reyes was a late scratch from his scheduled start Sunday because he was under the weather, according to MLB.com. "He came to the park this morning," Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said. "[He had a] headache, sore throat. I told him to get out of here." Reyes was knocked around for four runs on six hits in two innings in his last outing after working three scoreless innings in his first appearance.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 2/28, 8:04 PM CT
Anthony Reyes had a successful first outing this spring as he pitched three scoreless innings against the Mets. Reyes allowed two singles and didn't walk a batter in an efficient outing, something that didn't occur often enough last season when he posted a 1.72 K/BB ratio on his way to a putrid 2-14 record.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 2/22, 7:53 PM CT
Anthony Reyes will look to erase last season's misery when he went 2-14 by making the Cardinals starting rotation this year, according to a report on MLB.com. "I don't care about the hits," Reyes said. "I just want to see if I can get it over the plate as many times as I can, and get that feel for the plate again." Reyes appears to be in great shape to make the team's rotation given the fact that he has to battle the likes of Mark Mulder and Matt Clement for a spot.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 9/21, 12:22 PM CT
Anthony Reyes has been unavailable out of the bullpen for a couple days because of tightness in his right shoulder. Reyes played catch Thursday and said his shoulder feels better, but it remains unusually tender. "I never feel sore, so it's something that gets your attention," Reyes said in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. A team trainer said he expects the tightness to go away with rest.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 9/11, 12:07 PM CT
Anthony Reyes probably will pitch Wednesday in what will be a "bullpen" start for the Cardinals, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Reyes, who was bumped from the rotation last week, made his first relief appearance last Thursday, giving up a run in two innings.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 7/29, 3:02 PM CT
Anthony Reyes earned his first win of the year Saturday, and that apparently earned him a spot in the Cardinals rotation. It was thought that Reyes would just be up for a spot start as part of the team's doubleheader yesterday, but he will be kept around next week, likely filling in for the ineffective Mike Maroth or the injured Brad Thompson, according to the AP.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansMonday 7/2, 8:47 PM CT
The Cardinals sent the struggling Anthony Reyes to Triple-A Memphis on Monday to clear a roster spot for Braden Looper, who was returning from the DL, according to the AP. Reyes is 0-10 and hasn't won a regular-season game since last Sept. 6.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 6/17, 5:15 AM CT
Anthony Reyes has been recalled from Triple-A and will start Sunday against Oakland. Reyes was outstanding in his brief tune-up in the minors, posting a 1.64 ERA over 20 innings, with 16 strikeouts.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 5/27, 1:54 PM CT
Anthony Reyes, who is 0-8 with a 6.08 ERA in nine starts this season, was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Friday, according to the AP. "He's got some stuff that he can work on but he needs to have some success so he can start getting a better feeling," manager Tony La Russa said. "He was handling it great, but at some point. ..." Todd Wellemeyer will replace Reyes in the starting rotation, making his first start on Wednesday against the Rockies.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 3/14, 1:58 PM CT
Anthony Reyes was terrific again Wednesday, tossing 4 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out two. Reyes has given up just two hits and one run over 10 innings this spring, and he has six strikeouts to two walks.
Anthony Reyes, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 10/20, 8:51 PM CT
