Pitcher Emiliano Fruto was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks in order to make room on the 40-man roster for David Eckstein, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View: Fruto had not pitched in the big leagues since 2006, and he sported a 5.50 ERA at that time. He was of no consequence in fantasy leagues.
