Omar Quintanilla, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 4/2, 6:49 PM CT
Omar Quintanilla drove home two runs with his only hit of the day against the D'Backs.

Our View: Quintanilla played shortstop on Thursday, which is just one of three different infield positions he may see in his role as utility man during the season.
Omar Quintanilla, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 3/15, 9:49 PM CT
Omar Quintanilla was 3-for-4 with three RBI, a double, and a walk in the Rockies 9-5 win over the Dodgers on Sunday.

Our View: Quintanilla is having excellent spring while filling in at three positions, but it is highly unlikely that he will be anything more than a backup utility type in his career.
Omar Quintanilla, SS, Colorado RockiesSunday 8/24, 6:49 PM CT
Rockies backup infielder Omar Quintanilla hit a pinch hit, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 12th inning on Saturday, giving Colorado a 4-3 win over the Reds.

Our View: Quintanilla was the hero for the Rockies on Saturday, but he'll never be one for fantasy owners, because he simply does not play enough. That and his OBP is under .290.
Omar Quintanilla, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 6/5, 10:05 AM CT
Omar Quintanilla sustained a bruised wrist while fielding a Matt Kemp shot during action with the Dodgers on Wednesday, according to the Denver Post. He was not forced to leave the game following the injury.

Our View: He is icing down the ailment, with hopes of returning on Friday. Jonathan Herrera is the only other shortstop currently on the roster.
Omar Quintanilla, SS, Colorado RockiesThursday 5/8, 6:51 PM CT
Omar Quintanilla had three hits and two runs for the Rockies batting in the hole while playing second base for the Rockies.

Our View: With Clint Barmes playing short with the injury to Troy Tulowitzki, the team has been running Quintanilla out there at second base and he is now 10-for-25 since being called up (.400). He has no power, and little speed, but he still would make a great pickup in an NL Only leagues given his recent run of success.
Omar Quintanilla, SS, Colorado RockiesWednesday 4/30, 10:27 AM CT
Infielder Omar Quintanilla has been called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs, according to the Denver Post. Troy Tulowitzki is nursing a hip and quad ailment, and added Quintanilla for depth. Top pitching prospect Franklin Morales has been sent down.

Our View: Clint Barmes will see most of the action at shortstop while Tulowitzki rests with his injury, and Quintanilla holds little to no fantasy value. He only hit .229 over 70 at-bats in 2007.

The bruised shin of Omar Quintanilla is still very sore, and there is still a lot of swelling around the tibia, according to the Rockies website. Quintanilla can't run, jog, or jump, but he can hit off a tee, ride an exercise bike, and play catch. "If this lingers on for a month then you re-MRI him," trainer Keith Dugger said. "But you progress by what the patient's telling you. We go by his symptoms. We'll see if his leg balloons up as soon as we initiate some weight-bearing exercises. He's still quite tender in the area where the ball hit him." There is still no timetable on Quintanilla's return.
