Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsMonday 10/19, 7:41 PM CT
Jered Weaver didn't factor into the decision on Monday as they Angels outlasted the Yankees 5-4 in 11 innings to cut their defecit in the series to 2-1. Weaver went five innings and allowed three runs on five hits while walking three and striking out four.

Our View: Weaver wasn't nearly as dominating in this outing as he was in the first round against Boston, but he gave his team a chance to win tonight. The Angels despertely needed this win, and now they will have a chance to even the series in Game 4.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 10/10, 12:05 AM CT
Jered Weaver dominated the Red Sox on Friday with seven-plus masterful innings in a 4-1 win to give the Angels a 2-0 lead in the ALDS.

Our View: Weaver allowed one run on just two hits and a pair of walks over 7.1 innings and struck out seven. The Red Sox couldn't seem to get anything going against him all game as he was nearly flawless in his first postseason win of 2009.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsFriday 10/2, 11:52 PM CT
Jered Weaver only issued three hits over five scoreless innings in Friday's 5-2 win at Oakland. He had no walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver snapped his three-game losing streak, and picked up his 16th win of 2009. He also trimmed his ERA to 3.75, and looks to be ready for the playoffs.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 9/26, 12:11 AM CT
Jered Weaver only allowed two earned runs on six hits over six innings in Friday's 3-0 loss to Oakland at Angel Stadium. He had three walks and a strikeout.

Our View: Weaver pitched well, but fell to 15-8 due to no run support from his teammates. On the positive side, he trimmed his ERA to 3.84, and allowed two or less earned runs in three of five starts this month.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 9/19, 9:17 PM CT
Jered Weaver allowed three runs on five hits and a pair of walks over six innings in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers. He fanned four, but fell to 15-7 on the year.

Our View: Weaver was electric in the first half, going 10-3 with a 3.22 ERA, but has struggled since the break with a 5-4 record and an ERA near 5.00. He's been significantly worse on the road as well, sporting an ERA more than two full runs higher than his mark at home.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsMonday 9/14, 9:50 PM CT
Jered Weaver was rocked for five earned runs on eight hits over 7.1 innings in Monday's 5-3 loss at New York. He had four walks with two strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver was a disappointment tonight, after allowing two or less earned runs in each of his previous three starts. He still leads the Angels with 15 wins and should bounce back fine.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 9/9, 11:58 PM CT
Jered Weaver pitched 6.1 innings of two-run ball on Wednesday to improve to 15-5 on the season, as the Angels beat Seattle 6-3 at home.

Our View: More brilliance from Weaver, who at age 26 is having the finest season of his young career thus far.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsFriday 9/4, 10:51 PM CT
Jered Weaver only issued one earned run on nine hits over seven innings in Friday's 2-1 win at Kansas City. He had one walk with six strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver claimed his team-leading 14th win of 2009, and trimmed his ERA to 3.79. He allowed one or less earned runs in three of his last four starts.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 8/29, 11:55 PM CT
Jered Weaver allowed no runs over six innings on Saturday night, but took his ninth no-decision, as the Angels lost to Oakland 4-3 at home.

Our View: Through 27 starts in 2009, Weaver is 13-5 with a 3.89 ERA.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 8/25, 8:15 AM CT
Jered Weaver failed to pick up his 14th win on Monday, allowing five runs in just 5.1 innings to the Tigers, as the Angels lost 10-7 at home.

Our View: It was the third time in five starts in August that he had allowed at least four runs, and he could be hitting will as he is just nine innings away from setting a career high in the category. With the Angels comfortably ahead in the AL-West, look for him to get some extra rest down the stretch.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 8/19, 9:12 PM CT
Jered Weaver only issued seven hits over nine scoreless innings in Wednesday's 3-0 win at Cleveland. He had one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver collected his team-leading 13th win of 2009, as well as his fourth complete game and second shutout. He bounced back well from his last start, when he was lit up for eight earned runs over 3.1 innings at Baltimore.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsFriday 8/14, 9:48 PM CT
Jered Weaver was lit up for eight earned runs on nine hits over a mere 3.1 innings in Friday's 16-6 loss at Baltimore. He had four walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver was dealt a loss for the first time since June 20, and continues to lead the Angels with a 12-4 mark. He continues to pace the Angels with 140 strikeouts as well.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 8/8, 6:37 PM CT
Jered Weaver tossed a gem against a stacked Rangers' lineup on Saturday. He allowed just two runs on five hits and a walk over 7.1 innings and fanned 11 hitters. He improved to 12-3 on the season as the Angles nipped the Rangers 3-2.

Our View: Weaver was incredible in the first half, but has been miserable since. His ERA jumped from 2.08 on June 14th to 3.79 before Saturday's start. Since July first he has had just two quality starts, so it was nice to see him put together a positive outing today.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 8/2, 7:00 PM CT
Jered Weaver allowed four runs on four hits and two walks over 6.1 innings, but picked up the victory on Sunday. He also fanned 11 in the Angels 13-4 win over the Twins.

Our View: The Ks were a nice fantasy surprise in this one, but Weaver still wasn't sharp. He's 11-3 on the season, but hasn't had a quality start since July 11th (four starts). Since June 14th his ERA has risen from 2.08 to 3.79. It's been a frustrating second half to say the least.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 7/29, 12:22 AM CT
Jered Weaver got hammered again on Tuesday, but his offense bailed him out as the Angels beat the Indians by a score on 7-6. Weaver went five innings and allowed four runs on eight hits while walking three and striking out three.

Our View: Weaver has made two bad starts in a row, but he has taken a no decision in both. Fantasy owners should be a bit concerned about his poor play as of late, but he still has the goods to bounce back.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 7/18, 6:40 PM CT
Jered Weaver was roughed up for five earned runs on eight hits over a mere 3.2 innings on work in Saturday's 11-6 win at Oakland. He had three walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver takes a no-decision for his poor outing. He still leads the Angels with 10 wins and 107 strikeouts, and should be able to bounce back fine for fantasy owners.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 7/11, 6:52 PM CT
Jered Weaver gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits over six innings in Saturday's 14-8 win over the Yankees at Angel Stadium. He had two walks and racked up nine strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver earned his team-leading 10th win of the season, and also continues to lead with a 3.22 ERA and 104 strikeouts. He has not taken a loss over his last four starts.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsMonday 7/6, 11:44 PM CT
Jered Weaver allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits over seven innings in Monday's 9-4 win over the Rangers at Angel Stadium. He had one walk and racked up nine strikeouts.

Our View: The Angels provided plenty of run support for Weaver to claim his team-leading ninth win of the season. He bounced back fine from his last outing when he was lit up for seven earned runs over 5.1 innings at Texas.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 7/1, 10:47 PM CT
Jered Weaver was lit up for seven earned runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings in Wednesday's 9-7 loss at Texas. He had one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver had a nightmarish outing, and should be happy he ends the night with a no-decision rather than a loss. He is still tied for the team lead with eight wins, and was also leading with a 2.65 ERA heading into tonight's game. Weaver should bounce back fine.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 6/27, 12:08 AM CT
Jered Weaver allowed three earned runs on four hits over six innings in Friday's 12-3 win at Arizona. He issued four walks with five strikeouts, and gave up two homers.

Our View: It was not a strong outing for Weaver, but the Angels provided enough offensive support for him to collect his eighth win of the season. He has a 2.65 ERA, and should remain a solid hurler for fantasy owners.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 6/20, 11:46 PM CT
Jered Weaver got knocked around by the Dodgers on Saturday as the Angels fell to the Dodgers 6-4. Weaver went 5.1 innings and allowed six runs on ten hits while walking three and striking out four.

Our View: Jared was bested by his older brother tonight, but overall he is still a very good pitcher. You have to wonder if he was affected by facing Jeff tonight, but it was just one bad start so expect him to be solid for the rest of the season.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 6/14, 11:19 PM CT
Jered Weaver was masterful on Sunday as the Angels beat the Padres 6-0. Weaver pitched a complete game shutout and allowed five hits while walking one and striking out five.

Our View: Weaver has now won his last four games, and he is starting to look like a front-line fantasy pitcher. Anyone who has him needs to hold onto him, as it looks like he has it all figured out.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 6/9, 10:07 PM CT
Jered Weaver enjoyed a solid outing in Tuesday's 4-3 win at Tampa Bay, as he only allowed two earned runs on five hits over six innings. He had four walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: He has won three straight starts, and has allowed two or less earned runs in each of his last four outings. He continues to pitch like an ace for the Angels.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 6/3, 8:52 PM CT
Jered Weaver had another sparkling outing in Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Blue Jays. He struck out 10 hitters and allowed just three hits and a run over seven innings of work. 72 of his 107 pitches went for strikes.

Our View: Weaver has completed seven innings in seven of his last nine starts. He has allowed just eight runs in his last six starts. His 2.26 ERA and 63 strikeouts rank him as one of the better starting pitchers to date this season.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 5/27, 11:26 PM CT
Jered Weaver was outstanding in the Angels' 3-1 win on Wednesday. Weaver went eight innings and allowed only one run on four hits while walking two and striking out eight.

Our View: Excellent performance by Weaver tonight. He has the stuff to do this every night, and so far this season he has been one of the better pitchers in the Angels' rotation. He is a solid fantasy play in all leagues going forward.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 5/23, 12:49 AM CT
Jered Weaver worked his way out of multiple jams in Friday night's 3-1 win over the Dodgers. The starter scattered eight hits and three walks, while only allowing one run in five innings. He struck out three.

Our View: Weaver had gone the distance in two of his past three games, so five innings is a bit of a disappointment. However, tonight's outing showed that the young right-hander can keep his composure when things are not necessarily going his way. He could have let some of these innings blow up in his face, but he was able to keep it together and get big out after big out.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 5/17, 4:25 PM CT
Jered Weaver threw all eight innings in Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Rangers. He struck out seven while allowing six hits and three walks in Texas.

Our View: Weaver had been excellent in his two previous outings, and he looked pretty good again today. He pitched well enough for a win, but the Angels offense was unable to get anything going. Weaver's ERA inched up to 2.59 and his WHIP remains just 0.97 despite suffering his second loss of the season.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 5/13, 12:33 AM CT
Jered Weaver was brilliant on Tuesday, but was robbed of a win. He went seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits and a walk, but did not factor in the decision as the Angels fell to the Red Sox 4-3.

Our View: Weaver has been very good this season and has shined with the pressure on due to all the injuries suffered by the Angels' staff. His ERA is down to 2.45 and he is blossoming into the top of the rotation fantasy starter we knew he could be when he broke into the league.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 5/7, 11:40 PM CT
Jered Weaver threw a complete game as the Angels beat Toronto 6-1 on Thursday. He allowed only one run on three hits to the AL's top offense. Weaver struck out eight in the game.

Our View: Weaver has been exceptional in three games this season, but only average in three others. His only struggles have come on the road, but we expect the 26-year-old to clean that up going forward. He showed tonight why he has been previously projected as a staff ace.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsFriday 5/1, 9:50 PM CT
Jered Weaver got hit around a bit on Friday as the Angels lost to the Yankees 10-9. He went six innings and allowed four runs on four hits while walking three and striking out two.

Our View: Weaver only gave up four hits, but they resulted in four runs. He has been very effective so far this season and remains a very good pitching option in all leagues and formats.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 4/26, 6:50 PM CT
Jered Weaver was sensational on Sunday, tossing seven scoreless innings in the Angels 8-0 win over the Mariners. He allowed just three hits and two walks and truck out five on the day.

Our View: Weaver has been very good this season and looks much like the pitcher who took the AL by storm in 2006. Sundays' start lowered his ERA to 2.45 and he in now 2-1 on the season. He has been a big boost to a decimated Angels pitching staff this season.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsFriday 4/10, 11:53 PM CT
Jered Weaver was brilliant on Friday shutting down a potent Red Sox lineup. He scattered four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings, didn't allow an earned run and struck out eight. He is now 1-0 on the season.

Our View: Weaver had a disappointing campaign last year after bursting onto the scene in 2006, but he started with a bang this year. If he keeps this up and you grabbed him late in your draft you could have a gold mine on your hands.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 3/25, 6:35 PM CT
Jered Weaver got the win but it is not what he was looking for after giving up seven hits, five earned runs, and three home runs in 4.1 innings in the Angels' 18-11 win over Colorado on Wednesday.

Our View: There were concerns about his shoulder going into spring training and he has been anything but sharp as the spring goes along. Make sure you watch his next few starts to see if his performances improve.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 3/15, 10:35 PM CT
Jered Weaver lasted just 2.1 innings against the A's on Sunday. He allowed six hits and three earned runs, while striking out three hitters.

Our View: Weaver's gotten off to a shaky start and may be related to the shoulder that had been giving him problems earlier this spring. Keep an eye on his performances going forward. He should make a more extended outing in his next turn.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 3/10, 7:32 PM CT
Jered Weaver made his first start of the spring Tuesday against the Indians. He threw two-thirds of an inning and allowed one run on four hits.

Our View: Weaver began throwing from a mound just 11 days ago after experiencing soreness in his throwing shoulder prior to Cactus League play.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 3/4, 8:24 PM CT
Jered Weaver (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday, according to the Orange County Register. He will throw a few more times prior to throwing any spring training games. He is still on track to start on April 9.

Our View: Weaver could be an above average starter, but it does not look like he'll be the ace that many thought he would be. Still, his 7.74 K/9 rate is nice and he should be able to rack up some wins as the No. 4 starter in the Angels' rotation.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 2/19, 6:38 PM CT
Jered Weaver has had some arm issues in camp and said that he is behind on his throwing program, according to the LA Times.

Our View: Weaver has the potential to be a top-25 fantasy pitcher this season as long as his arm aliments do not advance into something more serious.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 2/19, 12:28 PM CT
Jered Weaver is yet to throw off a mound and has been limited to long-toss, progressing to 180 feet, according to the Orange County Register. Manager Mike Scioscia said, "This is something most pitchers go through every year. Some pitchers need a little more time to build up to what they need and Weave is one of those. There is no concern right now that he is not going to be ready. It is just stepping him up to where he needs to be. For some pitchers it is easier. Some pitchers have to work a little harder at it."

Our View: Weaver is worth drafting as a top-25 fantasy pitcher, and he has potential to finish the season ranked much higher.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 10/5, 11:53 PM CT
Jered Weaver worked the final two innings in relief on Sunday night to lead the Angels to a 5-4, 12 inning victory over the Red Sox to force a Game 4.

Our View: Weaver looked strong in the unfamiliar role of working out of the pen, and after a 5:19 minute game, the longest in ALDS history, the two teams will do it all over against less than 20 hours from this posting.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 9/27, 10:04 AM CT
The L.A. Times reports that Jered Weaver will make his final start before the postseason on Saturday, pitching against minor leaguers in an Arizona Instructional League game in Tempe in what manager Mike Scioscia called "a maintenance workout."

Our View: Sciossia will use Weaver out of the bullpen in the first round of the playoffs, making an already lights out pen even better.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 9/11, 5:13 PM CT
Jered Weaver will move up in the rotation and start tonight in place of John Lackey. However, Weaver doesn't figure to be sharp after missing more than a week to a finger injury.

Our View: The right-hander is 5-2 against Seattle, but that comes with an inflated 5.17 ERA in nine starts. Weaver is 1-1 with a 6.94 ERA in two outings this season against the M's.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 9/10, 4:29 PM CT
Jered Weaver will start on Thursday for the Angels after being out of action since August 30th because of cuts to his pitching hand, according to the Orange County Register. “I’ll probably just rub some stuff on it before the game to roughen it up,” Weaver said.

Our View: Weaver injured his hand on a dugout bench causing him to miss about two weeks. He will face the Mariners on Thursday, and given the utter lack of interest from the club from Seattle, Weaver is a fair bet to have some success in that outing.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsMonday 9/8, 9:24 PM CT
Jered Weaver's hand still hasn't healed enough for him to pitch, so Ervin Santana has been moved up to start Tuesday against the Yankees, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View: He was previously pushed back from Friday to Tuesday because of cuts on the middle and ring fingers of his pitching hand. Weaver should be returning shortly, we'll let you know when he does.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsMonday 9/8, 3:49 PM CT
Jered Weaver threw a bullpen session Sunday and is on target to make his scheduled start on Tuesday, according to the LA Times. His start on Friday was pushed back because of cuts on the middle and ring fingers of his pitching hand.

Our View: Weaver is only 10-10 but holds a favorable 1.28 WHIP and should be considered for AL-only leagues for his next start.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 9/4, 8:47 AM CT
Angels hurler Jered Weaver will see his next start pushed back from Friday to Monday after cutting two fingers on his right hand while pushing himself up and off the bench in Detroit, according to the L.A. Times. "I went to push to get up and gripped where the staples in the upholstery come together, and it just got me," said Weaver.

Our View: Yet another odd injury suffered by a baseball player. In part because of the long season, these things tend to happen, but this is the first upholstery-related injury we can remember. Weaver has been good enough to get a look in fantasy, but likely in AL-only leagues, as his record is 10-10 and ERA is 4.42.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsMonday 8/25, 11:35 PM CT
Jered Weaver picked up his tenth loss of the year but probably deserved better. In the Angels 2-1 loss to the A's, Weaver went seven innings, allowed just two earned runs and struck out eight.

Our View: After a tough start in August, this is Weaver's third good appearance in a row. His good control and strikeout total make his relatively high ERA (4.39) a bit easier to digest for fantasy owners.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsMonday 8/25, 11:52 AM CT
Jered Weaver has struggled this season with lineups that have gap hitters. However, the Angels right-hander is in line to pitch one of his better games against the A's tonight. Weaver (10-9, 4.47 ERA) allowed three runs and five hits in six innings of a 5-4 win at Tampa Bay on Wednesday, another team that is suspect at the plate due to their current injury woes. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA in five career starts against Oakland.

Our View: Oakland's offense is hitting a meager .218 since the break, and the team is slugging at an incredibly low .330. You and I could have intermittent success against the A's current batting order.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 8/20, 9:51 PM CT
The Angels and Rays locked it up tonight in an exciting match of baseball wits, but the Angels found a way to win, 5-4, in large part due to the efforts of RHP Jered Weaver. Weaver pitched six innings, surrendering three runs (all earned) on five hits with one walk and nine strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver has struggled with a bit of inconsistency over his more recent outings, going 3-1 over his last seven start coming into this evening, giving up 13 earned runs over his last three starts. Tonight showed he could be a force for the Angels down the playoff stretch.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 8/9, 12:10 AM CT
Jered Weaver didn't pitch very well over six innings on Friday but he still improved to 10-9 with a victory over the Yankees.

Our View: Weaver allowed seven hits, two walks and five runs on the night in what was his second straight poor performance that has caused his ERA to climb from 4.11 to 4.51.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 8/2, 6:23 PM CT
Jered Weaver was rocked for six earned runs on eight hits over five innings in Saturday's 8-2 loss to the Yankees in the Bronx, with one walk and five strikeouts. He gave up four home runs in his nightmarish outing.

Our View: He drops to 9-9 and his ERA climbs to 4.37. He has looked great at times this season, but has struggled with consistency and remains an unstable fantasy starter.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 7/23, 7:17 PM CT
Jered Weaver, forced to leave his start on Tuesday due to a sore shoulder, was feeling much better on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. "Weav is a little sore, but is feeling better than he could have been," manager Mike Scioscia said. "But right now, we're pretty comfortable he'll make his next start."

Our View: Good news for Weaver owners who had to be feeling a bit nervous. Look for Weaver to rebound next time out, he is scheduled to face Boston on Monday, though it might be wise to bench him for that one.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 7/22, 11:16 PM CT
Angels RHP Jered Weaver has been forced off the mound this evening against the Indians after just three innings because of tightness in the middle of his back and is listed as day-to-day, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Weaver allowed two runs on three hits, walking two and hitting another, but struck out four batters. It was also the shortest start of the season for Weaver, who broke a streak of four straight starts in which he pitched at least five innings and allowed two earned runs or fewer.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 7/22, 2:52 PM CT
Jered Weaver (8-8, 4.03 ERA) will start Tuesday, July 22, against the Indians, reports MLB.com.

Our View: Weaver has given up two earned runs or fewer in his last four starts. Look for him to continue his dominance against Cleveland's lackluster offense.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 7/9, 11:41 PM CT
Jered Weaver threw another strong effort to the wind on Wednesday night. The Angels right-hander allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits, walked two and struck out five. Weaver was one out away from his ninth win of the season before Josh Hamilton hit a two-out walk-off home run off of the best closer in baseball.

Our View: Weaver was a tough luck no-hit loser in the last two weeks, and then tonight's rally by the Rangers cost him another chance at victory. Weaver has allowed two or fewer earned runs in four-straight starts, with 23 strikeouts over the span.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsFriday 7/4, 10:46 PM CT
Jered Weaver was strong in Friday's 8-2 win over Toronto, as he only gave up two earned runs on six hits over 7.1 innings, with one walk and six strikeouts.

Our View: He evened his record to 8-8, and lowered his ERA to 4.17. He has allowed two or less earned runs in three-straight starts, with 18 strikeouts over the span. He should remain active in your roto-rotation.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 6/28, 11:57 AM CT
The Dodgers and Angels will continue to battle for the west-coast title today with the Angels sending RHP Jered Weaver to the mound, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Weaver comes off a solid outing against Philadelphia, holding the Phillies to just one run on four hits in 5 1/3 innings. In the 3-2 victory, Weaver walked three batters but struck out six. This will be the second outing for Weaver against the cross-town rival Dodgers. Just last month Weaver tossed 5 1/3 innings against Los Angeles, striking out seven batters, while allowing just two runs in the 10-2 win. In his career against the Dodgers, the young hurler has dominated LA, going 3-0 with a stellar 2.08 ERA.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 6/22, 3:54 PM CT
Angels RHP Jered Weaver has evened out his record at 7-7, getting the win in short work against Philly, 3-2. Weaver pitched 5 1/3 innings to allow one run on four hits, giving up three walks versus six strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver now sits at 3-1 for the month of June and 5-2 over his last seven starts.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 6/17, 12:29 AM CT
Jered Weaver allowed six runs in 6.1 ineffective innings against the Mets. Weaver allowed two long balls and eight hits as he struck out five on the night to pick up his seventh loss of the year.

Our View: With a 4.73 ERA, Weaver is currently posting a mark a full point above his career mark. Weaver still owns a solid 2.71 K/BB mark, but he has now allowed 12 home runs in 15 starts, and that isn't the tonic for a solid ERA.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsMonday 6/16, 12:25 PM CT
Jered Weaver will make his 15th start of the season tonight when the Angels host the Mets, according to MLB.com. Weaver is 6-6 this season with a 4.45 ERA and decent 1.31 WHIP. He has never faced the Mets, but is 3-0 with a 3.10 ERA in four career inter-league starts.

Our View: Weaver only allowed one earned run on four hits over eight innings in his last outing (against the Rays), but has been erratic from start to start, and he remains a risky fantasy hurler. In his favor, he does have a good record in inter-league play and is at home tonight.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 6/10, 11:21 PM CT
Jered Weaver improved to 6-6 with an excellent outing on Tuesday night. He held the Rays to four hits and one run over eight innings. Weaver walked two and struck out five. He is 3-1 over his last four starts.

Our View: Weaver remains a frustrating hurler. He has been outstanding in three of his last six starts, but he'll also mix in outings where he's easily hittable. If you're in weekly head-to-head leagues, it's tough to deal with Jered.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 5/24, 6:04 PM CT
The White Sox bats have been very quiet lately, and Jered Weaver made sure Saturday that that trend continued, as the right-hander shut the Sox out for eight innings allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out six.

Our View: Weaver has allowed just four hits and no runs over his last 15 innings versus the Sox, and he's allowed only two runs over his last three starts.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 5/24, 11:24 AM CT
Jered Weaver rejoined his teammates after being away for a couple of days to have his gastro-intestinal issues looked at, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. "I just wanted to get it checked out. I'm just glad it's cleaned out and I don't have to worry about it."

Our View: Weaver is scheduled to start on Saturday against the White Sox, and all indications are that he will be able to take his regular turn without a problem.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 5/18, 10:02 PM CT
Jered Weaver held his brothers old team, the Dodgers, to two runs over 5.1 innings on Sunday. Weaver earned his third victory in the game thanks in part to seven strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver has now allowed just two earned runs over his last 12.2 innings after getting shelled for eight runs against the Royals in his previous start. He appears to be fully healthy, so if he can just stay that way, his ERA should continue to tumble.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 5/14, 12:00 AM CT
The Angels emerged from the offerings of poor relief pitching from the Chicago White Sox to steal a 2-0 win, helped in large part by the work of their own starter, RHP Jered Weaver . Weaver went seven innings, surrendering just one hit with no runs allowed, two walks and six strikeouts also added to the box score.

Our View: Weaver needed the boost and, while he walked away with no decision, the positive vibes from such an outing could be huge moving forward.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 5/7, 10:09 PM CT
Jered Weaver was bombed for 10 hits, a walk, and eight earned runs in his fifth loss of the season for the Angels in just 3.1 innings of work.

Our View: It doesn't get much uglier than this. Weaver's ERA sits at 5.59 and his WHIP is 1.48, so unless he is hiding some type of injury he would make a solid buy low candidate because he is a much better pitcher than this.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 4/27, 10:37 PM CT
Jered Weaver allowed two runs on four hits, walked four and struck out five over 6.1 innings to win for the first time in four starts. He was replaced by Justin Speier with two outs in the seventh inning.

Our View: The win represented Weaver's most efficient start this year, but the right-hander still needs more fine tuning before he can pitch deeper into games. Weaver threw 108 pitches in his 6.1 innings of work.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 4/22, 9:43 PM CT
Jered Weaver served up 10 hits and five runs over five innings against the Red Sox on Tuesday night. He didn't issue a walk, struck out four, and allowed two homers.

Our View: That's two straight outings with 10 hits allowed for Weaver. The right-hander sometimes has dominant stuff, but his ERA is now 4.63 over his last 17 starts. That sounds more like Jeff Weaver.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 4/22, 7:39 AM CT
Jered Weaver will be looking for his second win of the season today as he takes the hill against Boston, according to MLB.com. He is currently 1-3 with a 3.60 ERA, and is 0-2 lifetime against the Red Sox in four outings with a 4.70 ERA.

Our View: He will duel with Josh Beckett, who seemingly has an advantage in this match-up.

Weaver allowed only three base runners on the night, all on hits, while striking out six batters. Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 3/26, 6:38 PM CT
Jered Weaver was strong in a no decision against the Cubs on Wednesday as he only allowed one run on six hits over six innings of work, with five strikeouts and no walks. His spring ERA holds strong at 1.37 and he should continue to creep up draft boards.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 3/12, 1:23 PM CT
With projected opening day starter John Lackey still ailing and behind the rest of the staff in work, another impressive Tuesday outing makes Jered Weaver the favorite to receive the opening day start. The young Weaver held the Padres to one run over four innings of work, and offered up but one hit on the day. His spring totals of six strikeouts to one walk and 2.0 ERA over nine innings is promising.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 3/6, 8:35 PM CT
Jered Weaver looked sharp on Thursday allowing only a single run over three innings. Coming on the heels of his last outing in which he allowed nothing in two innings, the younger Weaver appears to be in mid-season form. Weaver had a solid season last year but since it did not match his fine work the year before, you might be able to get a bit of bargain with Jered on draft day this year.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 2/14, 7:03 PM CT
Jered Weaver, who was forced to begin the 2007 season on the disabled list with biceps tendinitis, has been throwing since Thanksgiving and preparing hard for a successful spring. According to the team's official website, Weaver has been working mostly on his lower body strength, wanting to keep his upper half free and easy for his rhythmic delivery. The tall, lanky right-hander is still underweight for his 6'7" frame but is beginning to understand the importance of year-round conditioning. "By not being able to be with the team and pitch when I was supposed to pitch," Weaver said of last spring, "I let my team down, mostly. Obviously, I let the whole organization down by not coming in here and being ready to go. I think that was the most disappointing part about it." Weaver finished 13-7 with a 3.91 ERA in 28 starts last year and is a top-tiered talent in the fantasy realm.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 6/27, 10:39 AM CT
Jered Weaver will pitch today, regardless of how the results of his strep throat culture come out. "I definitely feel better than I did Monday," said Weaver in the LA Times. "I couldn't swallow anything Monday. Today, I feel a lot more energy."
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 6/26, 10:43 AM CT
Jered Weaver was scratched from his last start due to a bruised shoulder, but it may be another ailment that keeps him from taking the mound Wednesday. Weaver has a sore throat and has to visit a doctor to get checked for strep, according to the LA Times. "It came on real quick," Weaver said. "I felt something toward the end of the game Sunday." If Weaver can't pitch Wednesday, the Angels will put him on the DL retroactive to June 17. He would be eligible to be activated on July 2.

Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 6/21, 8:54 AM CT
Jered Weaver has been scratched from his start on Friday with discomfort in his right shoulder. "Weaver jolted his shoulder, and [the pain] has subsided in the last few days," manager Mike Scioscia told the LA Times. "There's no better time to do some juggling with [today's] off day and off days [June 28 and July 2]. If guys are fatigued, we can give them a chance to get their second wind." Joe Saunders will start in place of Weaver on Friday.

Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 4/26, 2:16 AM CT
Jered Weaver threw his regular bullpen session Wednesday and felt confident he has worked out his problems, the AP reports. He's 0-2 with a 9.39 ERA over two starts. "I was looking at some tape, and I saw I was drifting forward a little bit too much, so I was just trying to stay back over the rubber," said Weaver, whose season was delayed because of biceps tendinitis. "Everything went well in the bullpen. I'm just going through a dead-arm stage that I've got to battle through because I started a little bit later, but I felt like the ball was coming out of my hand a little bit stronger today, so we'll see what happens next time."
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 4/17, 8:26 PM CT

Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 4/11, 6:31 AM CT
Jered Weaver might not return to action Monday against Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Red Sox, according to the LA Times. He's slated to test out his sore biceps by tossing 90 pitches for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga this evening. "It will depend on how he feels [today]," said manager Mike Scioscia. "If he can pitch a little deeper into the game and get his pitch count where it needs to be and maintain his velocity, we'll certainly look at [returning Monday]. But there's a chance he could need one more rehab start."
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 4/7, 10:38 PM CT
Mike Scioscia said Jered Weaver's rehab start for Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday night went well, despite a pitch count that went slightly higher than expected over four innings, the Angels official site reports. Weaver is recovering from right biceps tendinitis. "He maintained his velocity, and his last 10 pitches were terrific," Scioscia said. "There were signs he's moving in the right direction. Health-wise, he's fine. He'll have one more start, and we'll see where he is." Weaver's last rehab outing, prior to a scheduled start at Boston on April 16, will come April 11 with Rancho Cucamonga. His pitch count in that one has been set at 90.

Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsWednesday 3/21, 9:20 AM CT
The Angels have made it official: Jered Weaver will begin the year on the disabled list due to his biceps tendinitis, the Los Angeles Times reports. But if the right-hander continues to progress as he has recently, there's a good chance he'll sit out only one regular-season start. Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 2/27, 8:50 AM CT
The Angels have advised Jered Weaver, who is dealing with biceps tendinitis, to not rush his recovery and not to feel pressured to be ready by opening day, according to the LA Times. "A lot of guys have a biological clock — they see opening day come around and think they have to be ready," Manager Mike Scioscia said. "You have to take that out of a player's mentality, because you want a guy to be on a mound when he's ready. You can't rush it." If Weaver isn't ready for the start of the season, Dustin Moseley, Chris Bootcheck or Hector Carrasco would likely step in as the fifth starter.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsMonday 2/26, 9:15 PM CT
The Angels are hopeful Jered Weaver will be ready by opening day, the AP reports. "There is a date where you'll look in spring training and you'll know if a pitcher physically won't be ready for the start of the season, and maybe shortly after, but we have not approached that yet with Jered," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Monday. "There's still time." Weaver has been slowed this spring by biceps tendinitis

Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsThursday 2/22, 8:49 AM CT
Jered Weaver was able to test out his tight shoulder by playing long toss from 120 feet for about 10 minutes yesterday, according to the LA Times. "Every time I throw, there's still something there," Weaver said. "It's not pain, it's not discomfort, it's normal. After I get warmed up, it knocks itself out, so it's just a matter of getting loose." He hopes to throw off a mound by the weekend.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsTuesday 2/20, 8:48 AM CT
Jered Weaver, who has been limited due to tightness in his shoulder, could throw off a mound as early as next week, according to the LA Times. Manager Mike Scioscia said Weaver would need to make at least four or five exhibition appearances before being ready to open the season.
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsSaturday 2/17, 8:42 AM CT
Jered Weaver not only said that his tight throwing shoulder will keep him from throwing off a mound for "a couple of weeks," he added that it could bother him the rest of his career. "The way I throw, it's going to be an issue — I've had it since high school," Weaver said of the biceps tendinitis that forced him to skip a start last July. "It sticks around for a long time, and it's a matter of knocking it out. With my long mechanics and different arm slot, I put a little more stress on my shoulder."
Jered Weaver, P, Los Angeles AngelsFriday 2/16, 12:26 PM CT
While most of the Angels pitchers threw off a mound Thursday or will throw off a mound today, Jered Weaver was relegated to long toss and probably won't pitch off a mound until next week, the Los Angeles Times reports. "We don't want a guy to get on the mound until he's comfortable with his flat-ground work. There's no reason to worry."
