The Baltimore Sun is reporting that Orioles' outfielder Adam Jones had fluid drained from his knees twice in the past week. Jones said that he will still play in the All-Star game on Tuesday night.

Our View: Jones could really use the break to rest up, but it shouldn't take too much of a toll on him playing a few innings Tuesday night. Fantasy owners should be a bit concerned with the fact that he is banged up, but as long as he is in the lineup you should keep him in as well.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/8, 7:23 PM CT

Our View: Jones ended a 15-game drought without a homer. He still leads the Orioles with 41 RBI and a .324 batting average.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 6/10, 4:19 PM CT
Adam Jones will hit third in the Orioles lineup when they face left-handers. The move was made to break up Aubrey Huff and Nick Markakis, both left-handed hitters, in the order.

Our View: This should open up a few more RBI opportunities for Jones, although he has not had much of a problem getting RBI in the No. 2 spot. Jones is hitting .340 on the season with 37 RBI and 42 runs scored.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 6/7, 6:57 PM CT
Adam Jones went 2-for-4 in Sunday's 3-0 loss to the A's. Both hits were singles.

Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 6/3, 12:47 AM CT
Adam Jones went 2-for-4 with a single and a double in Tuesday's 8-2 loss at Seattle.

Our View: Jones has really had a breakout season so far in 2009, and he is showing no signs of slowing down. This guy is the real deal, so keep playing him if you have him or trade him now while his value is sky high.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 5/22, 9:45 PM CT
Adam Jones went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a double as the Orioles beat the Nationals 4-2 in 12 innings on Friday.

Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 5/15, 9:29 AM CT
Adam Jones missed Thursday's game at Kansas City after suffering a strained hamstring Wednesday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 5/13, 8:30 PM CT
According to MLB.com, Adam Jones left Wednesday's game with a strained hamstring.

Our View: Jones experienced hamstring issues in April and this has quickly become a recurring problem. He's considered day-to-day, but don't be surprised if he winds up on the DL due to the O's very short bench.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/12, 10:33 PM CT
Adam Jones belted two homers in consecutive innings in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Rays. He smacked a solo shot in the first and a three-run shot in the second.

Our View: Jones is on fire. He now has eight homers, 25 RBI and is hitting .363 on the year. He and Nick Markakis have become a two-man wrecking crew in Baltimore this season. We'd like to say the future looks bright for the O's, but there is still the small matter of pitching to address.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/9, 9:58 PM CT
Adam Jones was 3-for-5, with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI in the Orioles' 12-5 beat down of the Yankees on Saturday.

Our View: Jones is hitting .353 with six home runs and 21 RBI this season and is becoming the breakout star the Orioles were banking on. He likely won't be hidden in the lower draft rounds from here on out, so enjoy him on the cheap while you can.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/2, 3:57 PM CT
Outfielder Adam Jones went 3-for-6 with a homer, a steal, two runs, and an RBI in Saturday's loss to the Blue Jays. He has multiple hits in four straight games.

Our View: We've known for a long time that Jones was a five-tool prospect with 20-20 potential, but he is turning into a superstar more quickly than anticipated. Fantasy owners who took a chance this spring can continue to smile.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/29, 2:42 PM CT
Outfielder Adam Jones went 2-for-4 with a run in Wednesday's loss to the Angels. He is up to .359 and has scored 24 times over 20 games.

Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/28, 11:28 PM CT
Adam Jones clubbed his fourth home run of the season on Tuesday in the Orioles' 7-5 loss to the Angels. He was 2-for-4 on the day.

Our View: Jones is starting to blossom into the player that the Orioles had been praying for all these years. He's now hitting .351 on the season with the four homers and 18 RBI and looks like he's delivering on all the breakout season predictions this year.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/26, 3:50 PM CT
Adam Jones had a huge day on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a double and the go-ahead home run in the sixth as the Orioles beat the Rangers 8-5. Jones scored twice and drove in three on the day.

Our View: Jones has been playing very well in 2009 when healthy, and he showed today why many people think he is due for a breakout year. Jones has the potential to be a big factor in mixed leagues, so play him now while he is hot.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/21, 7:42 PM CT
The Baltimore Sun reports that Adam Jones was scratched from Tuesday's lineup after his hamstring flared up in warm ups.

Our View: Jones has missed the last couple games due to the injury. He was playing very well prior to the injury and hopefully it is not the type of hamstring problem that follows him throughout the season.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/21, 8:16 AM CT
Adam Jones expects to be in the Orioles' lineup on Tuesday, according to the Baltimore Sun. Jones was removed from Baltimore's game on Sunday with tightness in his hamstring.

Our View: Looks like Adam "Don't call me PacMan" Jones is feeling fine and ready to return to the lineup. Feel free to get him back in your fantasy lineup as well, as he has been on fire to start the season. He is hitting .372 with 12 RBI and 15 runs so far in 2009 and is a good start in any league.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/20, 8:09 AM CT
According to the Baltimore Sun, Adam Jones will not play in the Orioles' game Monday against the Red Sox after leaving the game Sunday with tightness in his right hamstring. He said that the injury isn't serious but that he doesn't need to be a hero this early in the season.

Our View: Keep Jones out of the lineup today and check back to see if he will return for the Orioles' next game. He indicated that it is possible he may miss more than one game, but he will likely be back sometime before the end of the week.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/19, 2:15 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Adam Jones' early exit on Sunday was due to right hamstring soreness, according to the Orioles' official site.

Our View: Consider Jones day-to-day for the moment, so be sure to check back on his status if you plan on having him in your lineup against Boston on Monday.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/19, 2:00 PM CT
Adam Jones left Baltimore's game on Sunday in the second inning with an undisclosed injury.

Our View: It may have been a leg injury, as Jones didn't appear to be running at full speed. The injury does not appear to be serious at the moment, though more information on Jones is sure to surface later in the day or tomorrow.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/17, 10:41 PM CT
Outfielder Adam Jones continued his hot start to 2009 by going 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs, and one RBI against the Red Sox on Friday night.

Our View: Jones has delivered multi-hit performances in six of the O's 10 games, and it's very rare to see this free-swinger walk twice in a contest. In fact, it happened only two times in 2008. He is maturing before our very eyes. We're so proud.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/14, 11:12 PM CT
Adam Jones hit his first home run of the season in Tuesday's 7-5 ten-inning win over the Rangers. It came off Eddie Guardado in the tenth inning and gave the Orioles their sixth win of the year. Jones was 2-for-4 on the day and drove in three total runs.

Our View: The highly touted young center fielder is off to a great start in what could be his much anticipated breakout campaign. He had a strong June and July last year before being slowed by injuries and looks to be building on that now that he's healthy again.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/6, 7:04 PM CT
Adam Jones was 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs scored, two RBI, and two walks as the Orioles beat the Yankees 10-5 on Monday. He hit No. 2 in the order in between Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis.

Our View: Jones had a strong finish last year in his first season with the Orioles, and he figures to continue that improvement in 2009. The two walks may be the most important stat of his from today's game. He managed only 23 walks against 108 strikeouts last season. Those numbers helped lead to his .311 OBP.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/30, 9:35 PM CT
Adam Jones hit a solo home run as the Orioles fell to the Mets 2-1 on Monday. It was his only hit in three at-bats.

Our View: Jones now has three home runs this spring and continues to show the promise of an outstanding player. He may not blow up in 2009, but you can expect improvement on his decent 2008 numbers.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 3/28, 3:21 PM CT
Adam Jones went 1-for-4 with a two run home run against St. Louis on Saturday.

Our View: Jones, who's hit .367 this spring, has now gone yard in back-to-back games to go along with his seven stolen bases thug far. He'll be hitting between Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis and has legit 20/20 potential this season.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 3/24, 6:33 PM CT
Outfielder Adam Jones will open the season as the No. 2 hitter in the Orioles lineup. "Obviously, he knows the areas he needs to improve on," manager Dave Trembley tells the Baltimore Sun. "He's worked on it and I think at the beginning of the year, you'll probably see him, most of the time, hitting in the two spot." He'll be followed by Nick Markakis, Aubrey Huff, and Melvin Mora.

Our View: This is excellent news for Jones, who will be between Markakis and Brian Roberts. We were already pegging Adam for a better 2009, and he should see a lot of good pitches in the No. 2 hole. On the flip side, Mora owners are frowning. He did a lot of damage as the No. 3 hitter last year.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 3/22, 4:10 PM CT
Adam Jones hit leadoff and finished 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored as the Orioles loss to the Cardinals 5-4 on Sunday.

Our View: Jones is hitting .342 with a couple of home runs, a triple and four doubles this spring. His lack of power last year was a concern, as he has shown the ability to hit home runs in the minors. He figures to be the O's starting center fielder this season and holds some decent sleeper value.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 2/28, 9:19 AM CT
Adam Jones has missed the last two exhibition games while dealing with tightness in his right forearm, according to MASN Sports.

Our View: He is not concerned, and expects to be back in a few days. If healthy, Jones is expected to be the Orioles' starting center fielder.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/21, 8:19 AM CT
Baltimore outfielder Adam Jones admitted that he is still not up to full speed because of the broken bone he had in his foot, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Would have been nice if fantasy owners had known this before, as Jones has stumbled in September to the tune of a .208 batting average. Consider him fantasy irrelevant the rest of the year.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/20, 3:18 PM CT
Adam Jones continued his September swoon, and went 1-for-4 in his team's 1-0 loss to the Yankees, leaving four men on base.

Our View: Jones September average actually went up with his one base hit, from .204 to .208. His overall numbers do not make him worthy of fantasy rosters, but look for him to possibly break out next season.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/8, 11:33 PM CT
Adam Jones went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs in Baltimore's victory over the Indians Monday night.

Our View: Although this was a great performance, Jones is not worth putting on your fantasy roster.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/2, 5:52 PM CT
Adam Jones is in the lineup for the second straight game since being activated from the disable list on Monday. The outfielder is hitting second behind behind Brian Roberts and playing his usual center field.

Our View: Jones' return hurts Jay Payton's fantasy value. Time to cut the veteran loose.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/1, 9:58 PM CT
Adam Jones, in his first game back from the DL because of a broken foot, hit his eighth home run of the year for the Orioles

Our View: Jones has four home runs, 22 RBI and 22 runs scored in his last 28 games, though it will be interesting to see how he will fair after playing only two games in the month of August. Despite the home run tonight, expecting him to dominate moving forward might be a stretch.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/1, 7:39 AM CT
As expected, Orioles center fielder Adam Jones will be recalled for the team and will make the start in center field Monday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Jones has been out since August 2 with a fractured foot. He has solid value in AL-only leagues, but come next season, it will certainly increase.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 8/31, 11:40 AM CT
Orioles outfielder Adam Jones will be activated from the DL on Monday after rehabbing his fractured left foot, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Jones has had a very solid rookie season for Baltimore, with a .279 average, and 30 extra-base hits, eight stolen bases and 50 RBI. Look for his fantasy value to climb when next season rolls around.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 8/25, 10:30 AM CT
Adam Jones, who is recovering from a fractured left foot, felt good after taking live batting practice Sunday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: He is making favorable progress, but Manager Dave Trembley noted that he won't be activated from the DL until Monday, at the earliest. Jones still has to show that he can run the bases and make throws from the outfield. Trembley also wants Jones to hit live pitching twice, likely in simulated games. The team is waiting until September (which starts next Monday) when rosters expand to potentially bring him back.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/23, 10:14 AM CT
Adam Jones, who is nursing a fractured left foot on the DL, is expected to hit outside today, according to the Baltimore Sun. It is a small step in his recovery and manager Dave Trembley said, "He's not going to be, in the next three or four or five days, activated. No, no, no. He is going to be a guy that's going to tell you he's ready, but we are going to take the other, conservative route on him."

Our View: Jones likely will participate in a simulated game sometime next week but won't go on a minor league rehab assignment because the affiliates' seasons are ending. There is a chance he won't be back this season.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 8/19, 7:46 AM CT
Adam Jones is not using crutches or walking around with a boot on his fractured left foot, and could resume baseball activities by the end of the week, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Jones has had a solid if unspectacular rookie year for Baltimore, putting up a .279 average, seven home runs and 50 RBI. AL-only owners could get him back sometime in September.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/6, 10:10 AM CT
Adam Jones will wear a walking boot on his fractured left foot for two weeks, and then he will undergo another CT scan, according to the Baltimore Sun. Manager Dave Trembley said, "I think he's looking at a minimum of four weeks out. It's a terrible thing for him and our team. I think the world of him. I hope he gets it taken care of."

Our View: This a tough loss for the Orioles, but they are not likely to climb back into the pennant race at 13 games back in the AL East with 50 contests to go. Jones has a bright future with the club, and may be shut down for the rest of the season to play it safe.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 8/5, 4:56 PM CT
The Orioles have placed outfielder Adam Jones on the 15-day DL due to a fractured left foot, the Baltimore Sun confirms. The move is retroactive to August 3.

Our View: Early reports suggest the young outfielder could miss the rest of the season, but we're waiting to hear a more official timeline presented. Jones had been hitting very well since the start of June, so this is a bummer.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 8/5, 11:39 AM CT
Adam Jones is unlikely to play in the three-game series with the Angels, according to the Baltimore Sun. Head coach Dave Trembley said, "Obviously, he's not going to play tonight, and I would think if the symptoms continue, it's looking more and more like he may not play in this series"

Our View: Jones said his foot didn't feel much better than it did the previous day when he woke up barely able to walk.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 8/4, 11:36 PM CT
Adam Jones may be put on the disabled list soon with his injured left foot, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Jones hit a foul ball off his foot a couple of days ago, and he has been hobbled ever since. Jones has had a nice rookie season, hitting .279 with 50 RBI. He belongs in AL-only leagues, but doesn't do quite enough (yet) to be a good fit in mixed leagues.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 8/3, 10:18 PM CT
Adam Jones had x-rays on his left foot that were ruled as inconclusive after fouling a ball off his foot on Saturday, according to TSN. As a result, Jones will have a CT scan on Monday to determine what the best course of action will be.

Our View: Jones was unable to walk on his foot on Sunday, and this sounds like it could be a DL type injury, too bad to since Jones is batting .326 over his last 31 games.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/2, 11:50 PM CT
Adam Jones went 3-for-5 and scored two runs in Saturday's 3-1 win over Seattle at Safeco Field. All three of his hits were singles.

Our View: Jones has been solid as he scored nine runs over his last seven games, and should remain active in AL-only leagues.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 7/29, 1:15 PM CT
Adam Jones has been swinging a hot bat since the middle of May. His 3-6 performance last night virtually assured him of putting up his second straight month with a better than .800 OPS.

Our View: His talent is undeniable, ride the O's outfielder until the wheels fall off.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 7/28, 10:16 PM CT
Adam Jones was 3-for-6 with a home run, a triple and five RBI against the Yankees on Monday. He also scored three times in the Orioles 13-4 victory.

Our View: Jones has shown spurts that let us understand why he was considered such a can't-miss prospect but he continues to be very inconsistent. Expect his production to improve as he continues to adjust to major league pitchers.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 7/21, 9:00 PM CT
Adam Jones went 2-for-4 with a homer, single, two runs, and two RBI on Monday against the Jays. He is hitting .333 with two homers and 14 RBI over 16 games this month.

Our View: Fantasy owners, especially in keeper leagues, have to like the progression Jones is showing. He turns 23 on August 1, and he has a high ceiling.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 7/21, 5:07 PM CT
Adam Jones will start and hit second against the Blue Jays on Monday. He reported no issues with his sore right ankle. "It doesn't bother me one bit," Jones informs the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Jones is hitting .323 since the start of June and hopefully the ankle won't affect his bat. We're beginning to see that potential shine through.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/20, 11:18 AM CT
Adam Jones has been scratched from Sunday's lineup after tweaking his ankle during Saturday action, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Jay Payton will start in center field in his place. Jones was experiencing some swelling and the team decided to hold him out. Consider him day-to-day.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/17, 10:03 PM CT
Adam Jones has reached base safely in 17 straight games. He had two hits on Thursday against Detroit.

Our View: If Jones is on your waiver wire he may be worth picking up. His batting average is at the highest point it has been all season and it appears that he is getting more comfortable with major league pitching.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/6, 7:33 PM CT
Adam Jones went 3-for-5 with an RBI on Sunday.

Our View: He is hitting .450 in his last 10 games. He is getting more comfortable at the plate and could be valuable in the second half, especially if he can increase his stolen base production which stands at seven.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/4, 7:15 PM CT
Adam Jones helped lead the Orioles to a 10-4 win over the Rangers on Friday, as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Both of his hits went for singles.

Our View: He extended his hitting streak to eight games, and recorded two RBI in three of his last four outings. He is worth targeting if still available on the waiver wire.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 6/2, 9:24 PM CT
Adam Jones drove in a career-high three RBI on Monday night thanks to a bases-loaded double. It was his third straight game with a run batted in.

Our View: Jones hasn't lived up to his potential this year, but we have to remember he's only 22. We still like his upside in keeper leagues.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/18, 6:00 PM CT
Adam Jones went 1-for-3 with a run scored for the Orioles on Sunday in their 2-1 loss to the Nationals.

Our View: Jones has failed, miserably, to perform at anywhere near the level that was hoped for this year (.241-2-11-14-4). Still he has played solid defense and the team is committed to him, so don't look for him to be removed from the lineup anytime soon.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 5/7, 5:14 PM CT
Adam Jones was given the day off on Wednesday simply to receive a day off, according to MLB.com. Brian Roberts was also given the day off. "It didn't matter if they were 3-for-3 or 4-for-4 [Tuesday] night," said manager Dave Trembley. "They were not going to start today."

Our View: Jones has satisfied the Orioles with his work so far, but his fantasy owners were hoping for more from Jones than a .233-2-10-11-3 line through 116 AB. Jones posses 20/20 potential, but until he learns to control the strike zone a bit better, his average will likely lag behind his other numbers.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/1, 3:15 PM CT
Adam Jones went 1-for-3 and hit a two-run homer in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay.

Our View: Jones has two homers and 10 RBI over 28 games. He has failed to make a big impact so far this season, but he still has loads of potential, and you could be rewarded for your patience if you can afford to hold him on your roster.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/30, 9:34 PM CT
Adam Jones scored a run, had a hit and picked up a walk for the Orioles on Wednesday night.

Our View: Jones has failed to make a splash in the early going with only one home run and eight RBI, but he also hasn't fallen on his face either as some youngsters do. Continue to be patient with him, you just might be rewarded.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/17, 9:59 PM CT
Adam Jones singled in the game-winning run in the 10th inning, capping a late comeback that gave the Baltimore Orioles a 6-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night.

Our View: Jones was 1-for-4 on the day striking out twice.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/14, 9:29 PM CT
Adam Jones went 3-for-3 with three singles, a walk, and a stolen base on Monday night. He was also caught stealing.

Our View: Jones struck out four times on Sunday, and it was good to see him bounce back so quickly. The young outfielder is talented, but we're likely to see a lot of ups and downs in 2008.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/14, 5:18 PM CT
Adam Jones will be back in the lineup on Monday despite going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts on Sunday, the Baltimore Sun confirms.

Our View: Jones is off to a bit of a rough start following a solid spring, but the Orioles have no reason not to stick with him. Adam has a long future in their outfield, and they'll have to deal with the ups and downs that will likely come throughout 2008.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/10, 10:43 PM CT
Adam Jones went 2-for-4 hitting from the leadoff spot in the first game of a double header against the Rangers. The Birds lost the game, 3-1, and their six game winning streak in the process. Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/8, 9:00 AM CT
Adam Jones is reportedly going to be brought along slowly and not overwhelmed early, according to the Washington Post. Manager Trembley noted, "The guy who needs to be protected against the better pitching in this league is Jones. He's going to have his moments when he's very good; he's going to have his moments where he's going to get anxious and chase pitches out of the strike zone. And when I see that coming, whether it's an 0-for-8 or 0-for-12 or 2-for-15, I gotta get him out. I don't worry about Adam Jones makeup-wise. I'm just thinking, let's do what's right for this guy. Let's not have him hitting .158 on May 15." He was the prized acquisition in the deal that shipped Erik Bedard to Seattle, and this explains why Jones was out of the lineup against young ace Felix Hernandez on Sunday.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/2, 10:12 PM CT
Adam Jones went 2-for-4 tonight in the orioles' 9-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Jones was a monster on offense, picking up his first RBI of the year as well as his first stolen base and run scored.

Orioles skipper Dave Trembley announced this morning that ex-Mariner Adam Jones will start in center field on opening day, this according to the Baltimore Sun. The news isn't a surprise, only the timing of the announcement. Currently, Jones is an AL-only starting candidate and a mixed league reserve in most fantasy formats.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 3/7, 3:09 PM CT
Adam Jones sat out of Friday's preseason game due to his stiff back, according to the Baltimore Sun. "They told me he could play today but I'm going to hold him," manager Dave Trembley said. Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/6, 5:18 PM CT
Adam Jones was forced to leave the Orioles game on Thursday due to back stiffness, this according to MLB.com. "If it had been a regular-season game, I definitely would have kept playing," said Jones. "But it's Spring Training, and when you feel discomfort, you definitely take yourself out and get some treatment." We will take Jones at his word here, but we will certainly be keeping a close eye on him over the next week or so to see if there are any lingering effects.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 3/4, 4:25 PM CT
Adam Jones was 3-for-3 at the plate on Tuesday, which raised his spring batting average up to .500. The O's are counting on the offseason acquistion to be in their lineup when the regular season begins, and so far, he's proving to be up to the task.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 2/27, 4:32 PM CT
Adam Jones may have been nicked up on Tuesday, but he bounced back on Wednesday as he had two hits including a grand slam, this according to the Baltimore Sun. Jones made a mistake in the field, but he was aggressive on the bases, which impressed the team. Barring a catastrophic failure this spring, Jones figures to be in the club's lineup on opening day.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 2/26, 4:28 PM CT
Adam Jones was clipped on his leg by a line drive while attempting a steal during Tuesday's intrasquad scrimmage, according to the Baltimore Sun. Jones also got up gingerly after misplaying a ball hit to center field, but he said after the contest that he was physically fine. Jones ended the day going 0-1 with two walks.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 2/19, 9:28 AM CT
The Orioles expect Adam Jones, who came over in the Erik Bedard trade, to be their starting center fielder, according to the Baltimore Sun. However, Jones is going into spring training with the idea that he has to win a job. "I haven't proved anything in my eyes at this level," said Jones. "I have to produce with the team that I'm with. So far, I haven't produced anything to Baltimore, so I have a lot to prove." Tike Redman, Chris Roberson and Jay Payton are the O's other candidates in center, but the supremely talented Jones will have to really screw up over the next six weeks to lose out on a starting spot.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesMonday 2/4, 11:08 AM CT
Mariners outfielder Adam Jones traveled to Baltimore on Sunday, presumably to undergo a physical examination that originally was scheduled for Jan. 29, a source told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. A clean bill of health would be the last hurdle standing between the Mariners and Orioles completing their long-rumored Erik Bedard trade.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 1/31, 10:45 AM CT
The Seattle Times reports that there is absolutely no truth to the rumors that Adam Jones has a degenerative hip condition, and that both the Mariners and Orioles are laughing that rumor off "emphatically."
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 1/30, 10:54 AM CT
A Baltimore radio station is the likely source of a rumor that suggests the reason the Orioles are getting second thoughts about acquiring prospect Adam Jones as the centerpiece of a package for star lefty Erik Bedard is that they suspect Jones suffers from a degenerative hip condition. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that the rumor is completely unsubstantiated. Mariners GM Bill Bavasi chose not to discuss the matter, saying: "All I can tell you is that we brought Adam Jones home from Venezuela [for a physical]. Beyond that, we're not saying anything."
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 1/15, 10:19 AM CT
Adam Jones was held out of Saturday and Sunday's games in Venezuela over the weekend, which led many to speculate he was close to being dealt to Baltimore in a package for Erik Bedard, according to the Seattle Times. He was back in the lineup on Monday, however, so a deal doesn't appear to be imminent. The Mariners would not comment on Jones' absence over the weekend, but the talks between the two clubs are still thought to be ongoing.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/16, 10:27 AM CT
Adam Jones, who has received sporadic playing time since being called up in August, will play winter ball in Venezuela after the season, according to the Seattle Times. "He's learning every day, even though he's not playing," manager John McLaren said. "He gets individual instruction in the cage. He's refining his game. In all honesty, when you bring a top kid like him up, you'd like to get him some playing time, but the situation just hasn't presented itself. If you break it down, I just don't know where he'd play. Raul [Ibanez] is going to have 100 RBIs, [Jose] Guillen is going to have 100 RBIs. Replace Ichiro? Not right now." Even though he has limited big-league experience, Jones could surprise with consistent playing time in 2008.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 8/9, 10:41 AM CT
Adam Jones was out of the lineup for the third time in five games Wednesday since being called up from the minors, according to the Seattle Times. Jones is expected to be in the lineup tonight, but manager John McLaren is in no rush to get the youngster playing time. "Even if he doesn't play it's a good learning process for him," McLaren said. "We're going to use him in different places, spot starts, defense, pinch running, possible pinch-hitting. It's not a priority for me to find him a place to play right now."
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesFriday 8/3, 4:30 PM CT
As expected, the Mariners recalled Adam Jones from Triple-A on Friday, according to the AP. Jones, who hit .314 with 25 homers for Tacoma, should see regular playing time in the Mariners outfield. He's certainly worth adding in AL-only leagues, and he may even be worth a look in deep mixed leagues.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 8/2, 12:13 PM CT
Adam Jones, who is hitting .314 with a .382 OBP, 25 homers, 84 RBI and eight steals at Triple-A, will be recalled on Friday, according to the Mariners website. Manager John McLaren would not talk about Jones' role with the team, but at least at this point, you have to figure he'll get a shot to stick in the everyday lineup. For what it's worth, Jones did struggle in his stint with the big-league club last year, hitting just .216 in 74 at-bats.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/12, 11:25 AM CT
It turns out that Adam Jones may not be promoted after all - at least not right away. Mariners manager John McLaren said Wednesday he knew nothing of a potential promotion of Jones, and he said he wouldn't be in favor of it at this point. "I haven't had that conversation with anybody," McLaren said in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "To be honest with you, we're playing well right now with the guys we have here. I wouldn't want to interrupt that now. Now, the organization might have a different thought and might call me... and we'll talk about something different. But right now things are going well up here." A previous report said that Jones would be called up today and be installed as the everyday right fielder, which would move Jose Guillen to left, Raul Ibanez to DH and Jose Vidro to the bench. That may very well end up happening, but it doesn't look like it will happen right away.
Adam Jones, CF, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/11, 10:50 AM CT
The Mariners are about to shake up their lineup, as they're expected to call up top prospect Adam Jones Thursday. Jose Guillen will move over to left field, Raul Ibanez will be inserted in the DH spot, and Jose Vidro will be relegated to bench duty, according to the Post-Intelligencer. Jones struggled in his time with the M's last year, but he has been terrific at Triple-A Tacoma this season, hitting .309 with 21 homers and 72 RBI.
